I purchased this car in late February 2024. In late July, without any provocation or incident, the windshield cracked on the driver's side. I took the vehicle to an Acura dealer in Virginia Beach, VA, and asked about replacement. The car was less than six months old, and only had about 4,000 miles on it. The dealer stated to me, after taking a number of photographs, that they (the dealer) would submit this as a warranty claim to Acura. I was notified about two weeks later that he windshield was indeed covered by the warranty and that I could make an appointment in early September to have the windshield replaced. Since then, the appointment has been a constant postponement by the dealer and ACura stating that the part -- iu.e. a new windshield -- is not available. The last notification arrived by email this past week (and I am happy to forward the emall chain to you). I cannot het a response form either the dealer or Acura as to if and when this windshield will be replaced. It has not been six months since I started the process.
The contact owns a 2024 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH a loud booming noise occurred as the glass sunroof exploded without impact. During the incident shards of glass fell into the vehicle's cabin making contact with both the driver and the second-row passenger. The son, who was seated in the second-row passenger seat sustained a laceration on the left arm which did not require medical treatment. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000.
