TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 ACURA RLX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER ALL WHEEL STEERING (PAWS) FEATURE MALFUNCTIONED. WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT, THE REAR WHEELS WOULD ERRONEOUSLY TURN AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY JERK AND FISHTAIL. DURING THE FAILURE, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND THE VEHICLE DROVE INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CLASSIC ACURA (1000 INTERSTATE HWY 10, BEAUMONT, TX), BUT THE FAILURES WERE UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: [XXX]. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. PAWS REAR WHEEL STEERING ABRUPTLY TURNS REAR WHEELS WHEN CAR IS GOING STRAIGHT. USUALLY AFTER A TURN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN DRIVING AT MODERATE SPEEDS OVER THE LAST YEAR OR SO. DEALER UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM BUT INSTALLED NEW STEERING SOFTWARE THAT DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND ONLY DEALER SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE REAR STEERING ACTUATORS FOR APPROX. $4K BUT CAN'T BE SURE THIS WILL FIX THE ISSUE. SINCE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND CONSUMERS ARE NOT BEING TREATED FAIRLY BY ACURA. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. IF UNSTABLE ABRUPT STEERING OF THE REAR WHEELS WERE TO OCCUR AT HIGH SPEED IN TRAFFIC OR ALONG WINDING 2 LANE ROADS, SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.
WHEN TURNING A CORNER, THE PAWS ENGAGES, AND KEEPS TURNING EVEN WHEN I TRY TO STEER AWAY..IT HAS BEEN INCREASINGLY DOING THIS..TODAY, IT DID IT HORRIBLY, SCARING ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO FISH TAILS HORRIBLY WHILE TURNING TIGHT CORNERS.. I AM AFRAID I'M GOING TO GO OFF OF THE ROAD, OR HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE.
THE 2014 ACURA RLX INTRODUCED ACURA'S NEW PAWS SYSTEM (PRECISION ALL WHEEL STEERING). THE REAR WHEELS TURN SLIGHTLY IN THE DIRECTION OF THE CAR AND ARE CONTROLLED BY THE VEHICLE NOT THE DRIVER (DRIVER CONTROLS ONLY THE STANDARD FRONT WHEEL STEERING). THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY SOUNDS LIKE AN UPGRADE IN THEORY AND MAY EVEN BE IN CASES AT HIGH SPEEDS WITH THE REAR WHEELS TURNING EVER SO SLIGHTLY. HOWEVER, I HAVE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE IT FEELS LIKE I DO NOT HAVE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE FROM MY DRIVER'S SEAT. WHILE IN MOTION, IMMEDIATELY AFTER COMPLETING A TURN, THE REAR WHEELS APPEAR TO BE LATE IN CORRECTING BACK TO THE CAR'S NEW DIRECTION (APPROX. 2-3 SECONDS LATE). THIS RESULTS IN A FEELING OF "FISHTAILING". I CAN FEEL THE BACK END OF THE CAR PULLING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION AND MY NATURAL INSTINCT IS TYPICALLY AN OVERCORRECT. MY BEST EXAMPLE WOULD BE A ROUNDABOUT TURN. THE REAR WHEELS ATTEMPT TO STAY IN THE CIRCULAR TURN EVEN WHEN YOU EXIT THE ROUNDABOUT TO STRAIGHTEN OUT. THE PROBLEM IS THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE IS PULLING TOWARDS THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS FEELING IN AN "S" CURVE AND A U-TURN. WHAT PROMPTED ME TO FINALLY SPEAK UP ABOUT THIS IS IN MY MOST RECENT EXPERIENCE IT WAS RAINING. THE WET ROAD MADE THE REAR END OF THE CAR FEEL LIKE IT WAS SLIDING OUT OF MY CONTROL. THERE IS A LOCAL RATHER LARGE ROUNDABOUT WITH 4 LANES AND HIGHER THAN USUAL SPEEDS FOR A ROUNDABOUT. IN THESE INSTANCES, THE REAR WHEEL STEERING SHOULD BE DISABLED FOR SAFETY REASONS.
SIMILAR TO OTHER REPORTS. FIRST, WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS UP A HILL OUT OF MY HOUSE, I STARTED TO HEAR A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION ON A REGULAR BASIS. I WAS TOLD BAD TIRES, I TOOK IT TO GET ALIGNED. I CHANGED TIRES AND HAD THE CAR ALIGNED. STILL HAD THE SOUND. I DONT HEAR IT AS MUCH, BUT DO STILL GET IT FROM TIME TO TIME. MOST RECENTLY, ALMOST A DOZEN TIMES I WOULD FEEL LIKE MY CAR WOULD ACCELERATE AND SLIDE IN THE BACK END AND QUICKLY CORRECT ITSELF. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I WAS ON A METAL GRATE AND SLIPPED. AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT CORRECTS ITSELF. IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM AT A SLOW SPEED AND MAKING A TURN AND ACCELERATING. IT HAPPENS BOTH WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR A LEFT TURN. ITS QUICK AND VERY STARTLING. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH PAWS. LESS THAN 50K. LOOKS LIKE OTHER DRIVERS ARE HAVING A SIMILAR ISSUE..BOTH WITH NOISE AND THE SLIPPING. ACURA HAS PLACED SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THE ACTUATORS REGARDING THE NOISE BUT NOTHING REGARDING THE ISSUE WITH THE PAWS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE ACURA DEALERSHIP, BUT BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT REPLICATE, THEY CAN NOT DIAGNOSE AND FIX.
IMMEDIATELY ONCE THE CAR IS STARTED THE FOLLOWING SENSOR CODES POP UP: VSA, ALL WHEEL STEERING, EPS PROBLEM, FORWARD COLLISION PROBLEM. THE CAR CAN BE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. WHEN THE SENSORS ARE ON THE CAR IS NOT ABLE TO GO ABOVE 50 MPH.
IT WAS THE SCARIEST THING EVER I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE CAR WITH MY SON WHEN MY VEHICLE STARTED DECELERATING WHAT A VERY DANGEROUS THING TO HAPPEN . I PURCHASED THE CAR 94 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THIS INCIDENT. I TOOK IT TO THE ACURA DEALER WHICH THEY SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE RECALL FOR FRONT COLLISION WARNING LIGHT THAT COMES ON WAS NOT DONE EVER ON THIS CAR . THE INFORMATION EMAILED TO ME FROM THE GENTLEMAN I SPOKE WITH ON THE PHONE DOES NOT SHOW THE WORK DONE I'M VERY ANGRY AND FEEL LIKE MY LIFE COULD'VE BEEN ENDED ALL BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED
SUN ROOF SHATTERED WHILE CAR WAS GOING 65 MPH AND STRAIGHT ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR, TEMPERATURE AROUND 60 DEGREES, 11:00 AM. FORTUNATELY THE SUNROOF COVER WAS CLOSED. OVER THE NEXT TWO HOURS PIECES OF THE GLASS BROKE OFF, SCRATCHING AND GOUGING THE BODY.
PAWS REAR WHEEL STEERING STICKING CAUSING SUDDEN CORRECTION TO REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. AFTER TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT FROM A FULL STOP SUDDEN CORRECTION FEELS LIKE REAR OF CAR IS FALLING OUT, DRIVER MAY RESPOND WITH AN OVER CORRECTION PLACING EVERYONE IN DANGER. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH, DEALER SEEMS CONCERNED BUT BRING MONEY. CONTACTED ACURA AMERICA, THEY DENY ANY KNOWLEDGE, WILL TAKE MY REPORT WITHOUT ANY FOLLOW UP. ACTUATORS FOR PAWS SYSTEM WERE REPLACED AT APPROXIMATELY 9000 MILES BECAUSE OF NOISE, DIDN'T HELP, ACURA SHOULD STEP UP. OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO NHTSA.
WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2014 THE FIRST WEEK I DETECTED A NOISE ON THE REAR OF THE CAR, I WENT TO THE ACURA SERVICE CENTER AND THEY FOUND PROBLEM WITH THE ACTUATORS, THEY RECEIVED THE VISIT FROM AN USA SERVICE CENTER TECHNICIAN AND CONFIRMING A MALFUNCTION ACTUATOR THEY SAID THAT THEY WILL WORK ON A NEW DESIGN. APPARENTLY, THEY DID AND SINCE THEM THEY HAVE REPLACE THE ACTUATORS IN 4 OCCASIONS. LATELY WHEN I DO AN 'U' TURN THE CAR WHEELS CONTINUES FACING THE DIRECTION OF THE TURN FOR OVER 200 METERS, THEN THE CAR SLIPS ABRUPTLY FROM THE BACK TO TRY TO ALIGN THE WHEELS/CAR. THIS REPRESENT A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN SINCE YOU LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND CAN CREATE A COLLISION IF YOU ARE NOT ALERT AND PREPARE TO RESPONSE.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE STRAIT AT LOW SPEEDS, I STARTED TO HEAR MOANING OR RUBBING NOISES FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION ON A REGULAR BASIS. A FEW TIMES, I WOULD FEEL LIKE MY CAR WOULD SLIDE IN THE BACK END AND QUICKLY CORRECT ITSELF. ON A PARTICULAR TIME ON A LOCAL CITY STREET TRAVELING STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 30MPH, MY VEHICLE'S REAR STARTED TO DRIVE SIDEWAYS TAKING MY CAR TOWARDS A DITCH ALONG THE ROAD. AFTER 2-3 SECONDS, THE CAR CORRECTED ITSELF. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A PRECISION-ALL WHEEL STEER SYSTEM (PAWS) NEW FOR THE 2014 YEAR MODEL RLX. AFTER INVESTIGATING THIS THROUGH THE INTERNET, I LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER DRIVERS WERE HEARING THE SAME NOISES AND FEELING THE SAME LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS ONE RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE THAT WAS AIMED AT SOME LOOSE REAR SUSPENSION BOLTS BELIEVED TO BE CAUSING SOME OF THE PROBLEMS. THE OTHER HAS BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO REAR TOE ACTUATORS IN THE PAWS SYSTEM. ACURA HAS PLACED SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THE ACTUATORS BUT IS NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP OF THE FLAWS OF THE PAWS SYSTEM AND DEFECTIVE PARTS. WE HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL REPEAT THE SAME UNSAFE ACTION AND FEEL THAT IT IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE WE OR SOMEONE ELSE GETS HURT FROM AN ACCIDENT. WE ARE TRYING TO ALSO ADDRESS THIS WITH ACURA AND ARE AWAITING A RESPONSE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BY OTHER OWNERS ON THE INTERNET AND THEY MIGHT NOT BE AWARE TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WITH 69,0000 MILES. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE.
THE PWS IN THE REAR OF CAR, IS LOCKING AT TIMES WHEN MAKING RIGHT OR LEFT TURN.. THEY IT WILL ADJUST ITSELF ABRUPTLY WHILE DRIVING CAUSING NEAR DEATH SITUATIONS..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 ACURA RLX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE DRIFTED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT BRIEFLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNSOED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT THE CAR FEELS LIKE THE BACKEND IS COMING AROUND TO THE FRONT OF CAR, THEN I HAVE TO HOLD THE STEERING WHILE TIGHT BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE I'M GONNA LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR THEN IT'LL STRAIGHTEN BACK UP. I CAN BE DRIVING ON THE STREETS OR ON THE HIGHWAY THE SAME THING. AND SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR IT HAS HAD A ROARING NOISE IN THE REAR END AND I HAVE BOUGHT NEW TIRES AND EVERY SHOP I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THEY SAY IT'S THE TIRES BUT I KNOW THAT'S NOT SO.
REAR SUSPENSION MAKING MOANING NOISES WHILE STEERING AT LOW SPEED.
2014 ACURA RLX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LURCHED TOWARDS THE RIGHT AS IF SOMEONE HAD PULLED THE STEERING WHEEL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR REGULAR SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE OUTER AND INNER TIE RODS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED FOR HIS SAFETY AND DID NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE SINCE THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE AUTO-DIMMING REAR-VIEW MIRROR INSIDE THE CAR DOES NOT PROPERLY DIM OR DOES NOT DIM AT ALL RESULTING IN HEADLIGHTS REFLECTING ON THE DRIVER AND CAUSING A CONSTANT DISTRACTION THAT'S POTENTIALLY A DRIVING HAZARD. THERE'S NO MANUAL OPTION TO FORCE IT TO DIM, AND THERE'S NO OPTION TO REPLACE THE AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR WITH A MANUAL ONE. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED OCCURRENCE AS IT HAPPENS EXTREMELY REGULARLY; ONLY RARELY DOES IT DIM EFFECTIVELY.
I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE OR ACTUALLY IS LEASING IT AND I'VE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 20 MONTHS AND HAVE EXPERIENCED 3 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE ACURA'S FLAGSHIP VEHICLE AND I'M TOTALLY NOT PLEASED WITH THESE RECALLS THAT I FEEL ACURA PROBABLY KNEW ABOUT BEFORE RELEASING THE VEHICLE FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC, IN THE LATEST RECALL WAS FOR MY HEADLIGHTS AND I WAS TOLD BY LETTER AND THEN BY PERSON VIA THE PHONE NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS COULD MALFUNCTION OR FALL OUT AND TO GET IT FIXED AT NO CHARGE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BUT ACURA DEALERS DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS ON HAND AND HAD TO BE ORDERED AND MY VEHICLE HAD TO STAY PUT IN MY GARAGE FOR ABOUT 4 WEEKS BEFORE SOMEONE FROM CERRITOS ACURA CALLED ME WITH AN SCHEDULE APPT., NOW I FELT THAT ACURA SHOULD'VE GIVEN ME AN RENTAL CAR TO DRIVE WHILE THEY WAITED ON THESE PARTS, I CONTACT ACURA CLIENT RELATIONS DEPT. AND WAS DIRECTED TO SPEAK TO AN LADY MANAGER BY THE NAME OF [XXX] (PHONE # 1-800-382-2238 EXT. [XXX]) AND THIS WAS THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE THAT I EVER OCCURRED, HER PHONE ALWAYS WENT STRAIGHT TO HER VOICE MAIL AND WHEN SHE DID CONTACT ME BACK SHE CALLED ME ON MY HOME NUMBER/ CELL PHONE NUMBER INSTEAD OF THE NUMBER I PROVIDED HER WITH (JOB #) SHE OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T LISTEN TO MY MESSAGE AND JUST INSTEAD WAS MONITORING HER CALLS AND CALLED ME BACK ON THE NUMBER SHE HAD ON FILE, I CALLED HER AT LEAST 6 TIMES AND NEVER EVER SPOKE TO HER, ACURA BRAGGED ABOUT THIS CAR GETTING ALL OF THESE ACCOLADES FOR SAFETY AND WAS ACTUALLY ON THE LIST FOR BEST SAFETY VEHICLE IN 2014 AND TO HAVE 3 RECALLS IS AN INCONVENIENCE TO MYSELF AND HAVE GIVEN ME SERIOUS DOUBTS ABOUT PURCHASING FROM THEM EVER AGAIN, I WISH I COULD'VE GOTTEN SOME BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE VIA THE CLIENT RELATIONS DEPT. AS FOR THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE AND CORRECTING THIS PROBLEM, I WAS VERY PLEASED AND THIS IS MY REASON FOR COMPLAINING. THE RLX HAS ALL WHEEL STEERING. THE REAR STEERING WHEEL ACTUATORS MAKE A GROANING SOUND, WHICH ACURA HAS NOT EVALUATED FOR POTENTIAL SAFETY CONCERNS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE PART IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IF IT FAILS. ACURA KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT DUE TO THE UNAVAILABILITY OF CORRECTED PARTS. *TR
AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A SHOPPING PLAZA, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING ME TO HIT A PARKED VEHICLE ABOUT 10 FT TO MY LEFT. UPDATED 3/17/2015 *JS
WHILE DRIVING SOUTH ON U.S. 1, A SIX LANE ROAD, I PLACED A TELEPHONE CALL USING THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. SHORTLY AFTER THE CALL WAS CONNECTED, THE CAR'S WARNING ALARM SOUNDED AND AN "I" APPEARED IN THE INFORMATION DISPLAY. FRANTICALLY TRYING TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, I USED THE CONTROL ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO SCROLL DOWN THE INFORMATION LIST AND FOUND A RED DISPLAY SAYING "12 VOLT BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM PROBLEM". BECAUSE TRAFFIC WAS SO THICK, I DECIDED NOT TO TRY TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN I GOT TO A RED LIGHT, I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED IT. THE MESSAGE DID NOT REAPPEAR. BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM DID NOT REOCCUR FOR A MONTH, I ASSUMED THAT ACURA USED ITS LINK SYSTEM TO REMOTELY CORRECT THE SOFTWARE ERROR. THE ASSUMPTION WAS INCORRECT. OVER THE NEXT 5 MONTHS, THE SAME THING HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES. ON SEPTEMBER 19 I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS AN ACURA BULLETIN ON THIS SOFTWARE ISSUE DATED APRIL 16, 2014. IN MY OPINION, THIS SOFTWARE ISSUE THAT ISSUES A FALSE ALARM THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS FAILED SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE SUBJECT OF A NOISY RECALL, OR AT LEAST A QUIET RECALL. MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 2 OCCASIONS BETWEEN MAY 15 AND SEPTEMBER 19, AND THE SOFTWARE ERROR WAS NOT CORRECTED. IF ACURA COULD SEND AN E-MAIL TO ALL OWNERS ON SEPTEMBER 16 ADVISING OF A SOFTWARE INCOMPATIBILITY FOR STATIONARY VEHICLES WITH THE IOS 8 FOR IPHONES, WHY COULDN'T ACURA SEND AN E-MAIL REGARDING AN ERROR IN ACURA SOFTWARE THAT AFFECTS MOVING VEHICLES? I RAISED THIS ISSUE WITH ACURA CLIENT RELATIONS AND WAS UNABLE TO ESCALATE THE ISSUE. MY REQUESTS FOR CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE EXECUTIVE OFFICES OF AMERICAN HONDA AND AMERICAN HONDA'S CHIEF SAFETY OFFICER WERE DENIED. I DID NOT EVEN SUCCEED IN SPEAKING WITH A SUPERVISOR. *TR
AT LESS THAN 1000 MILES, THE CAR STARTED TO INTERMITTENTLY ALERT ME TO BRAKE WHEN THERE IS NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND THERE IS A CAR IN THE BLINDSPOT WHEN NONE THERE. THESE ISSUES HAVE CONTINUED FOR THE TWO YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. THE DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR FOR WEEKS AT THE TIME AND CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. I HAD A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE STEERING WHEEL MAKING A LOUD SQUEAL BUT WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THIS WAS NORMAL. AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS, THEY REALIZE THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ONE OF THE COMPUTER SCREEN FREEZES AND DOESN'T SHOW DATA. KEYFOB OFTEN DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE KEY AND I HAVE TO TAKE IT OUT TO OPEN THE CAR. THE CAR HAS HAD RECALLS ON NAVIGATION SYSTEM, HEADLIGHTS, SEATBELTS AND BOLTS YET HONDA USA CONTINUES NOT TO NOT SEE AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE BEING A LEMON. I AM NEAR THE END OF THE WARRANTY AND CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 ACURA RLX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH AND DECELERATING, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT. UPON COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE REAR CONTROL ARM BOLT FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT WOULD BE SENDING OUT AN ENGINEER TO EVALUATE THE WORK DONE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V622000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND EXHIBITED BUBBLING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. SINCE TAKING DELIVERY OF THE CAR, IT HAS MADE LOUD CLUNKING AND RATTLING NOISES AND VIBRATION FROM ALL FOUR WHEELS, PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE WHILE DRIVING AT SLOWER SPEEDS (15-45 MPH). THE DEALER MADE AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THIS BY REPLACING THE DAMPERS ON ALL FOUR STRUTS AT THE DIRECTION OF ACURA. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN, THE DEALER HAS BEEN AWAITING DIRECTION FROM ACURA AS TO HOW TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT. DURING AN ARBITRATION HEARING, ACURA INFORMED THE ARBITRATOR AND ME THAT ALL 2014 RLXS HAVE THIS DEFECT. THEY SAID REDESIGNED PARTS ARE BEING TESTED NOW. AS OF 7/15/14 NO FURTHER REPORT HAS BEEN RECEIVED REGARDING THE RESULTS OF THIS TESTING, AND NEITHER ACURA NOR THE DEALER HAS CONTACTED ME TO ADVISE WHAT CORRECTIVE ACTION(S) WILL BE TAKEN AND WHEN. *TR
DEER WERE CROSSING THE ROAD IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE ON THIS VEHICLE TO TURN OFF OR DIM HEADLIGHTS UNLESS VEHICLE IS IN PARK OR PARKING BRAKE IS ON (HENCE A COMPLETE STOP). DEER FROZE IN THE HEADLIGHTS AND I HAD TO COMPLETELY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN ORDER TO HAVE THE DEER SAFELY MOVE ON (ONCE LIGHTS WERE OUT). THIS IS A HAZARD TO ME, ANYONE BEHIND ME AND OTHER DRIVERS TRAVELING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. TURNING OFF THE HEADLIGHTS WHILE MOVING WILL KEEP THE DEER MOVING MOST OF THE TIME. ACURA CLIENT RELATIONS HAS CONFIRMED THIS FEATURE AS BEING "AS DESIGNED" AND HAVE NO SOLUTION TO OFFER. I TRAVEL EVERY EVENING ON THIS ROAD (SPEED LIMIT 55) AND DEER ARE A DAILY OCCURRENCE. I FEEL ACURA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO DELIVER A FIX TO A CLEAR SAFETY OVERSIGHT. *TR
CAR HAS NUMEROUS RATTLES AND HAS HAD A RECALL FOR REAR SUSPENSION BOLTS. RATTLE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED OVER 5 ATTEMPTS. BOTH FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND STILL RATTLES. I HAVE READ THERE ARE ISSUES WITH BOLTS COMING LOOSE AND TIE RODS SHEARING FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE WHEEL(S) TO COME OFF. HAVE TOLD THE MANUFACTURER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BUT THEY INSIST THERE IS NO SAFETY ISSUE WITH VEHICLE. I DO NOT DRIVE CAR ON HIGHWAYS AS I AM AFRAID THAT ALL THIS RATTLING WILL LOOSEN THESE BOLTS AN ACCIDENT JUST WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN THE BACK-END OF THE CAR BECAME VERY LOOSE AND OUT OF CONTROL. THE CAR WAS SWERVING BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY. I WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL AVOIDING THE CARS TO THE LEFT OF ME AND THE DITCH TO THE RIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR UNDER CONTROL AND I SLOWED THE SPEED WAY DOWN. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND INTO A DRIVEWAY TO INSPECT. I FOUND THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE TILTED INWARDS TOWARDS THE CAR AT ABOUT A 20 DEGREE ANGLE AND FOUND THE TIE ROD THAT CONNECTS THE CAR TO THE NEW ALL WHEEL STEERING DEVICE DISCONNECTED AND LAYING ON THE GROUND. THE BOLT EITHER CAME OUT OR SHEERED OFF. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND INSPECTED. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A DEFECT AND REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR AT RANDOM TIMES - THIS CAN BE WHEN UNDER MODERATE LOAD TO LIGHT LOAD. THIS WILL LIMIT THE CAR TO A SPEED TO APPROX. 50MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAS SLOWED DOWN 10+MPH AND SOMETIMES WILL REQUIRE YOU TO COME TO A DEAD STOP TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY. THIS HAS CAUSED A HANDFUL OF SAFETY RISK AS YOU CANNOT FORCE THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN SOME INSTANCES - LIKE MERGING ON A HIGHWAY OR A HIGHWAY WITHOUT A SHOULDER. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO 4 OTHER RLX THAT HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED - ACURA'S RESPONSE WAS WE DON'T SEE IT BEING A PROBLEM AND WILL NOT AUTHORIZE REPAIRS AT THIS TIME. - NO MATTER MY SAFETY CONCERNS. THIS HAS BEEN VERY HARD FOR THE DEALER TO REPRODUCE - IT CAN BE FORCIBLY REPRODUCED WITH HEAVY LOAD - BUT THE RANDOM LIGHTER LOAD EXAMPLES CAN TAKE 1-2 WEEK TO HAPPEN. *TR
WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE FACTORY. VEHICLE HAD NO ABILITY TO WASH WINDSHIELD. PART REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WITH CALIFORNIA SUN, THIS BECAME A SERIOUS ISSUE. I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH A SQUIRT BOTTLE IN THE CAR IN ORDER TO KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR DUE TO DUST. PART TOOK SOME TIME TO ARRIVE TO LOCAL DEALER. *TR
