WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 5 - 70 MPH THE HEADLIGHTS WILL SHUT OFF. MOST FREQUENTLY THE PASSENGER SIDE SHUTS OFF, ON OCCASION BOTH LIGHTS WILL SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. USING THE TURN SIGNAL STALK SWITCH AND RAPIDLY TURNING ON AND OFF WILL TYPICALLY RESET THE LIGHTS. ON ONE OCCASION THIS DID NOT WORK EVEN AFTER 20+ TRIES. DURING THESE OCCASIONS THE HIGH BEAMS WILL FUNCTION PROPERLY. I HAVE TRIED TO DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DO SO. IT IS A COMPLETELY INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. OTHER MANUFACTURES HAVE HAD TO ISSUE RECALLS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. ACURA SHOULD ALSO BE REQUIRED TO ADDRESS THIS. OTHER INDIVIDUALS ON ACURA WEB DISCUSSION BOARDS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. *JS
2000 ACURA TL. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT OUTAGES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN GOING OUT FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. THE CONSUMER STATED IF SHE FLIPPED THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND OFF, THEY PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WOULD COME BACK ON. THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. NOT LONG AFTER THE REPLACEMENT, THE DRIVER SIDE LIGHT FOLLOWED THE SAME PATTERN. IN DECEMBER WHILE DRIVING, BOTH LOW BEAMS HEADLIGHTS FAILED. THEY DID NOT COME BACK ON, WHEN SHE TRIED TO FLIP THEM ON AND OFF. SHE THEN DISCOVERED THE HIGH BEAMS STILL WORKED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA TL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ACTIVATED, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT SUDDENLY FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AFTER TURNING THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL DEVICE SEVERAL TIMES, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE BOTH HEADLIGHTS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY PREPARING TO EXIT, WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL TO DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE ON EXIT RAMP AND VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING BACK TO CRUISE CONTROL SPEED ONCE PEDAL WAS RELEASED, ALMOST RESULTING IN A COLLISION. UPON INSPECTION, CONSUMER DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS HAD FAILED. PRIOR TO, WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE GEAR FROM PARK WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS BRAKE SWITCH FAILURE.*AK *CB
