DASH HAS CRACKED COMPLETELY, DISABLING AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE FACT THAT THIS DASHBOARD MATERIAL HAS CRACKED ALL OVER HAS COMPROMISED THE ABILITY TO DEPLOY AIR BAGS SAFELY. VERIFIED BY MECHANIC. NOW THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. IF I HAVE A FRONT END COLLISION, I MIGHT DIE.
FAILUER OF THE FRONT ALUMINUM FRAME WAS OBSERVED ON MY CAR DURING A STATE INSPECTION BY AN OBSERVANT TECHNICIAN. THE COMPLIANCE BUSHING IN THE FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY FAILS WITHOUT GIVING THE DRIVER AN AUDIBLE OR DRIVING SIGNAL. THIS CREATES METAL ON METAL CONTACT BETWEEN THE STRUT AND ALUMINUM FRAME - WEARNIG THRU THE ALUMINUM FRAME ARM EXTENSION WHICH SUPPORTS THE METAL ROD TO THE WHEEL. THE ALUMINUM FRAME WILL EVENTALLY FAIL CAUSING LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. THIS WOULD BE LIFE THREATENING AT HIGHWAYS SPEEDS. I HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY REPLACED TO MITIGATE THIS RISK.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE ORINGINAL OWNER 11-17. HE DIDNT INFORM ME OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE I HAD A DEAD BATTERY. THEN I NOTICED THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACH WOULD STOP WORKING WHEN I WAS DRIVING, ALSO THE VSA WARNING LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I SEARCHED ON LINE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT MY SAME PROBLEMS, AND THAT THE DEALER WAS NO HELP AT ALL. I TRIED DISCONNECTING THE HANDS FREE LINK, BUT I STILL HAD A DEAD BATTERY THE NEXT DAY. THE ONLY SOLUTION I HAVE FOUND IS TO DISCONNECT MY BATTERY EVERY DAY WHEN I COME HOME. I REPLACED THE BATTERY IN JAN. 2018. THERE ARE ALSO RECEIPTS IN THE VEHICLE FROM THE ORIGANAL OWNER FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS.
DASHBOARD CRACKING.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2005 ACURA TL HAS CRACKED OVER THE PAST YEAR. AFTER RESEARCHNG SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CONCERN I HAVE IS NOT COSMETIC, BUT SAFETY. DUE TO THE CRACKS MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY AIR BAG SYSTEM HAS DISABLED ITSELF. THEREFORE IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT, I WONT HAVE THAT PROTECTION. ACURA REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH A RECALL. IT CAN HAVE DEADLY CONSEQUENCES.
THERE IS A CRACK ON THE RIGHT HAND (PASSENGER) SIDE OF THE DASH VERY CLOSE TO THE AIR BAG. I AM SCARED THAT THE AIRBAG MAY EXPLODE AT ANY MINUTE. ACURA SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL. THIS VEHICLE IS KEPT IN A GARAGE AND NOT DRIVEN EVERYDAY.
DASH CRACKED AROUND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, AFRAID OF AIRBAG COMING OUT. ORIGINAL OWNER ,ALWAYS GARGE KEPT
THERE IS A CRACK RIGHT ON THE EDGE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN THE DASHBOARD. ACURA WILL NOT HELP COVER THE COST TO FIX IT. IT APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE. MY CAR ONLY HAS 75,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE. THERE WAS NO FIRE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CONTACTED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V091000 (STEERING). TIM SHORT ACURA (131 MACCORKLE AVE SW, CHARLESTON, WV 25303) INFORMED THE CONTACT TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. ALSO, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START AND THE KEY IMMOBILIZER INDICATOR FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
MY NOTICE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD PERIODICALLY COMES ON AND OFF; THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG, BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHICH ONE UNTIL THEY LOOKED AT IT. IS THIS A PROBLEM INVOLVING THE TAKATA RECALL? I NEED TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FROM TIME TO TIME FOR OVER A YEAR OR MORE, BUT WHEN IT DIDN'T STAY ON, I JUST DIDN'T REMEMBER TO DEAL WITH IT.....IT IS NOW ON MOST OF THE TIME. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED AND REMAINS ON UNTIL TURNED OFF.
PASSENGER SEAT WILL TRIGGER AIR BAG DASH LIGHT. ACURA CORPORATE SAYS I AM RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. DEALER SAYS THEY PAY FOR REPAIRS, EXCLUDING $170 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD BE COVERED WITHOUT EXPENSE TO CONSUMER.
PASSENGER DASH CRACKED AROUND EDGE OF AIRBAG. CONCERNED THAT ACURA IS NOT HANDLING AS A RECALL. THEY HAVE REPLACED SOME DASHES, BUT OTHERS THEY SAY THE DASH IS A THINNER MATERIAL THEREFORE IT MAY CRACK. I BELIEVE THIS MANUFACTURER DEFECT IS COMPROMISING SAFETY AS IT RELATES TO MY PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE.
DASHBOARD HAS CRACKS STARTING FROM THE AREA THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG IS LOCATED AND HAS SINCE SPREAD TO ALL AREAS OF THE DASHBOARD. ACURA HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT, DESPITE THOUSANDS OF OWNERS COMPLAINING. THIS ISSUE HAS MADE ITS WAY TO CNN, LOCAL NEWS, NUMEROUS BOARDS AND WEBSITES, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, ETC. THE BRAND REFUSES TO STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT AND RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2005 ACURA TL HAS DEVELOPED FOUR MAJOR CRACKS. TWO OF THEM ARE OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG COMPARTMENT. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARS WHENEVER SOMEONE SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE ACURA DEALER REFUSES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM UNLESS I PAY THE FULL REPAIR COST. I HAVE BEEN THE SOLE OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.
CRACKING DASH BOARD. DOUBTFUL THAT THERE ISN'T A TAKATA AIRBAG AT THE ROOT OF IT THAT ACURA IS NOT INCLUDING WITH THE OTHER YEARS OF THAT RECALL. SUSPECT DANGERS IF BAG GETS DEPLOYED AS DASH WOULD FRAGMENT OUT IN EXPULSION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED, SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR, AND OPERATED ABNORMALLY. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FILTER FRACTURED AND DETACHED AND THE DEBRIS CLOGGED THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS UP TO THE CONSUMER TO CHANGE THAT SPECIFIC PART OUT, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT LISTED AS A RECOMMENDED PART TO REPLACE IN THE MANUAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 188,000.
CRACKED DASHBOARD. I WENT TO THE DEALER FOR A REPAIR AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN'T REPAIR IT CAUSE IT'S DANGEROUS TO REPAIRED IT BECAUSE THE AIRBAG MIGHT EXPLODE. SO WHAT CAN I DO? THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME 2000 DOLLAR.

BOUGHT THE CAR USED FROM ORIGINAL OWNER. DASH HAD A SINGLE CRACK ALONG PASSENGER SIDE/AIR BAG. NOW DASH HAS MULTIPLE CRACKS SURROUNDING PASSENGER AIR BAG AREA. EXTREMELY CONCERNED REGARDING AIR BAG OPERATING PROPERLY IF DEPLOYED AS WELL AS SHARDS/SHARP PIECES OF DASH FLYING IF AIR BAG IS DEPLOYED. DISTURBED THAT ONLY SOME OF THE 2005 ACURA TL'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND NOT ALL FROM THIS YEAR.
PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYING BY ITSELF AND CAUSING DASHBOARD TO CRACK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, A POPPING NOISE EMERGED FROM THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED THAT A CRACK DEVELOPED IN THE DASHBOARD AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. (INSIDE VEHICLE/STATIONARY) DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK FAILS TO POP UP AND DOWN WHEN BUTTON IS PUSHED/ACTIVATED.

2005 ACURA TL WELL MAINTAINED, ALWAYS GARAGED. NOV 10, 2016 STARTED NOTICING CRACKS ON DASHBOARD. 2 BIG ONES ON PASSENGER SIDE OVER WHERE AIR BAG SUPPOSED TO BE. COUNTED AT LEAST 6 DIFFERENT CRACKS OVER THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD, IN VARIOUS SPOTS. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN FOR A PREMIUM CAR MAKER SUCH AS ACURA BUT NO RECALL OR ASSISTANCE $$ TO FIX ISSUE.
IN THE ACURA 3.2 MOTORS, THE CYLINDERS HAVE OIL RELEASE HOLES THAT ARE NOT SMOOTH WHICH IS CAUSING METAL SHAVINGS TO GET STUCK, SHAVE AND DAMAGE THE CAM SHAFTS AND CAUSE MOTOR FAILURE. THEY ARE CAUSING SERIOUS GROOVES ON THE OUTER 2 CAM BEARINGS THAT HAVE THE LARGER RELEASE HOLES. MY MOTOR FAILED DUE TO THIS. I WAS DRIVING, CAR STOPPED RUNNING, I THOUGHT MY TIMING SLIPPED. I PULLED THE MOTOR APART AND MY CAM WAS SEIZED UP AFTER LOOKING INTO IT FURTHER. I ORDER A NEW MOTOR SAME YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, THINKING IT WAS JUST MY MOTOR. I PULLED THE NEW MOTOR APART AND I FOUND THE SAME ISSUE! THE CAM WAS GETTING SCORED DUE TO THE OIL RELEASE HOLE NOT BEING SMOOTH. I ALSO REALIZED THAT ON THE SIDE THAT WAS NOT GETTING DAMAGED IT HAD AN OIL SYLPH, AND WHICH THE SIDE THAT WAS GETTING DAMAGED DID NOT. *TR
KNOWN ISSUE WITH NO OFFICIAL RECALL. DASH BOARD CRACKS DIRECTLY ABOVE AIRBAG. STARTED WITH ON LARGE CRACK AND NOW THERE ARE TWO ABOVE AIRBAG. I HAVE 3 COWORKERS ALL WITH ACURA TL'S FROM 04-06 YEARS ALL WITH THE SAME CRACKS. DEALER IS MAKING DRIVERS RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACE WITH NO GUARANTEE IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ONLINE FORUMS AND FACEBOOK PAGE JUST REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE. SHOULD BE A RECALL.
THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IN MY ACURA TL 2005 SUDDENLY BECAME HAZY AND STARTED LEAKING A BLACK / DARK GREEN FLUID WHICH PRODUCED A CHEMICAL TASTE IN MY MOUTH AN A SLIGHT SORE THROAT. I'M CONCERNED THE DRIPPING LIQUID IS TOXIC AND HARMFUL TO PASSENGERS IN ADDITION TO THE LOSS OF VISIBILITY. THIS DOES NOT FALL IN THE CATEGORY OF A WEAR OUT ITEM AND IT SHOULD NOT HARM INDIVIDUALS IN THE PROCESS. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN I NOTICED THE INITIAL LIQUID AT THE BOTTOM OF MY MIRROR.
MY ACURA TL'S PASSENGER DASHBOARD HAS A CRACK RUNNING DOWN AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT AND APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE.
BOTH FRONT SEATS AND THE DASHBOARD ARE EXTREMELY FULL OF CRACKS FOR A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND ALWAYS WELL TAKEN CARE OF.
HANDS FREE LINK PROBLEM PEARSEDICITIC DRAWL BATTERY COMPLETELY DRAINED AFTER 3 DAYS OF NOT STARTING ALSO NO DISPLAY HVAC DEFROSTER ON HI SPEED UNABLE TO CONTROL. THERE IS NO RADIO FUNCTION/DISPLAY AS WELL.
TAKATA RECALL MY DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CRACKED AND NOW ANOTHER CRACK IS STARTING FOR NO REASON. I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN GREAT CARE OF MY CAR AND DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO CAUSE IT TO CRACK AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AND DOESN'T GO OFF. I LOOKED IT UP BY VIN NUMBER AND DIDN'T SEE A RECALL BUT SAW OTHER COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE THIS HAS HAPPENED.
THE DASHBOARD CRACK AND WITH NO REASON AND STILL CRACKING
A YEAR AGO MY DASHBOARD BEGAN TO CRACK FOR NO APPARENT REASON, LAST WEEK MY AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AND STAYS ON. RESEARCH SHOW THAT A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE DASHBOARD IS DEVELOPING LARGE CRACKS ALL AROUND THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE CRACKS CONTINUE TO SPREAD AND HAVE CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE DASHBOARD LEADING TO MAJOR CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER AS TO WHETHER THE DEFECT HAS COMPROMISED THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED, BUT IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION INADVERTENTLY SHIFTED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BECOME INOPERABLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
DASHBOARD CRACK AND AIR BAG SIGNAL SHOW.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. ONE CRACK IS RIGHT ABOVE THE AIRBAG. NOT SURE IF IT COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY? I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF ACURAS.
MY 2005 ACURA TL IS DEVELOPING CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD. ONE OF THE CRACKS OF MAJOR CONCERN IS THE ONE THAT IS FORMING ALONG THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I AM AFRAID THAT THE CRACK WILL CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO MALFUNCTION! THE BAG MAY DEPLOY SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING, IT MAY DEPLOY UPWARDS RATHER THAN FORWARDS; IT MAY CAUSE THE DASH TO CRACK FURTHER AND SPRAY THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WITH DASH SHRAPNEL, OR THE CRACKS THEMSELVES MY PUNCTURE THE AIRBAG - EACH CAUSING A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN INCLUDING DEATH OR SEVERE INJURY. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED TO APPEAR INTERMITTENTLY AFTER THE CRACKED FORMED AROUND THE AIRBAG. I AM AFRAID TO FILL THE CRACK AS THAT MAY ALSO AFFECT THE AIRBAG AND SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM IS SO WIDESPREAD THAT SOCIAL MEDIA GROUPS HAVE BEEN FORMED - SUCH AS ON FACEBOOK ( HTTPS://WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/ACURATLDEFECTIVEDASH/POSTS/219662424726766 ). IT SEEMS TO AFFECT MANY OF THE ACURA TL MODELS 2004-2008. THE COMPANY SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND CREATE A RECALL DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS FOR THEIR PASSENGERS.
1. HFL LHAS CONTINUOUSLY DRAINED SEVERAL BATTERIES SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2008. UNTIL RECENTLY I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS THE HFL UNTIL THE ACURA DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IT EITHER NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED OR REMOVED. IT'S VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR, SO I HAD IT REMOVED. I ALSO JUST PURCHASED A 2007 ACURA TL S AND WHILE I WAS SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP INPUTTING THE RADIO INFO AND ATTEMPTING TO CONNECT WITH TO THE HFL LINK THE BATTERY BECAME COMPLETELY DRAINED IN LESS THAN 10 MIN. THE HFL HAS NOT WORKED IN THE 2005 SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND IT DOES NOT WORK ON THE 2007 EITHER. I HAVE A SEPARATE COMPLAINT FORM FILLED OUT FOR THAT CAR. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ACURA TL, BUT NOT A RECALL YET. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. 2. THE POWER STEERING HAS SEEMED TO GO OUT OVER THE LAST 8 MONTHS AND IT HAS BECOME DIFFICULT TO STEER. IF I CAN REMEMBER THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE POWER STEERING HOSE FOR THIS MODEL TL. I BELIEVE IT WAS REPAIRED DURING THE INITIAL RECALL, BUT THE ACURA DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO REPLACE THE PART AGAIN EVEN THOUGH THE SAME PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN.
PURCHASED NEW, SINCE 2005 THE VEHICLE HAS HAD A PARASITIC BATTERY DRAIN WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE NOT TO START. OVER 10 BATTERIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY ACURA DEALERSHIPS OR AAA. I WAS TOLD BY FORMER CERTIFIED ACURA SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS WITH THE VEHICLES HANDS FREE SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE. ACURA HAS KNOWN, INTERNET RESEARCH, AND MY CONVERSATION ON THIS DATE 5/9/2016 WITH AN ACURA CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE CONFIRMED THAT ACURA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2004. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WHICH CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STOP MOVING RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING, CONTROL, OR POTENTIAL SERIOUS ACCIDENT. ANOTHER SERIOUS FACTOR IS THAT THERE IS NO WARNING SIGN WHEN THE VEHICLE BATTERY WILL FAIL. IN THE EVENT THAT THE BATTERY FAILS WITH OUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER IN AN EXTREME COLD, HEAVY RAINFALL, FLOOD CONDITIONS COULD POSSIBLE RESULT IN LOSS OF LIFE. THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. COMMON SENSE DICTATES THAT MY COMPLAINT AND ALL OTHERS WHO HAVE TAKEN TIME TO FILE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM SHOULD RESULT IN A NHTSA RECALL. THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD WHO BUY VEHICLES DON'T NEED BAD TAKATA INFLATORS OR BAD IGNITION SWITCHES .WHAT WE NEED IS A NHTSA WHICH WILL RESPONSIBLY ENFORCE ALL AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURES TO PROVIDE QUALITY VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE BEST SAFETY FEATURES.
MY DASH BOARD CRACK WITH NOT REASON RIGHT IN THE MEDIUM
THE DASHBOARD DEVELOPED 2 LONG CRACKS IMMEDIATELY ON PASSENGER SIDE OVER AIRBAG WITHOUT ANY SIGN OF THEM APPEARING OVER TIME. CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND WELL MAINTAINED/CLEAN AND ALL LEATHER/DASH/PANELS ROUTINELY MOISTURIZED. CAR HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED. GOOGLE 2005 ACURA TL DASHBOARD AND YOU GET NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS OCCURRING JUST OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS FOR THE SAME MAKE/MODEL. NOT SURE IF THIS WILL AFFECT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT OR WILL JUST BE AN EYESORE. REPLACEMENT PARTS COST APPROX. $730, NOT INCLUDING LABOR. CONTACTED ACURA BUT THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE DASH AT THEIR OWN COST DUE TO VEHICLE BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED TO ENSURE PASSENGERS WILL BE SAFE AND AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY PROPERLY IF IN AN ACCIDENT.
FOUR WEEKS AGO, MY DASH ALL OF THE SUDDEN GOT 2 LARGE CRACKS. THIS CAR IS GARAGED, AND WHEN PARKED OUTSIDE AT WORK, AD WINDOW SHADES TO PROTECT THE DASH AND KEEP THE FRONT SEATS AND STEERING WHEEL COOL. MY CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, AND WHEN I GOT IT IN, THE CRACKS WERE THERE.
THERE IS A LONG SPLIT RIGHT ALONG THE SIDE OF WHERE THE AIRBAG SITS ON THE PASSANGER SIDE. THIS CONCERNS ME BEING RIGHT OVER THE AIRBAG. LOOKING ONLINE THERE IS A FACEBOOK PAGE WITH COUNTLESS CONCERNS OF OTHERS WITH CRACKED DASHBOARDS IN THE SAME LOCATION. THIS CRACKING CONCERNS ME THAT THE AIRBAG MIGHT INFLATE WHILE DRIVING OR NOT INFLATE CORRECTLY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. MY FEAR IS IF I FILL THE CRACK THAT THIS ALSO MIGHT IMPACT HOW THE AIRBAG WORKS. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH A LUXURY CAR AND APPARENTLY THIS IS HAPPENING IN TONS OF CARS FROM 2004 - 2008 THAT I'VE READ ABOUT. I RECENTLY NOTICED THIS, BUT LOOKING AT THE SIZE OF THE CRACK IT HAS LIKELY BEEN THERE FOR AWHILE AND I DIDN'T NOTICE IT. WHEN THE CAR HEATS UP THE CRACK ISN'T VISIBLE.
MAJOR CRACK ALL OVER DASH BOARD. SIX ARE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF DASH DIRECTLY WHERE AIR BAGS ARE HOUSED ABOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT, SPANNING THE ENTIRE WIDTH TO THE DRIVERS SIDE. AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AS WELL. DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX. THE CRACKS ARE GETTING WIDER WITH TIME AND HAVE PROGRESSED WITH TIME.
PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD CRACKED VERTICLE DIRECTION WHERE AIRBAG IS. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS DISPLAYED IN DASHBOARD. BECAUSE OF THE CRACK, IT IS NOT KNOWN IF THE AIRBAG WILL WORK PROPERLY IF IN A CRASH OR IF IT WILL DEPLOY UNEXPECTEDLY ALSO CAUSING HARM.
THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING. CRACKS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE GO FROM FRONT OF THE DASH NEAR WINDSHIELD TO BACK NEAR THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED AND NOT ABUSED. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY START TO CRACK NEAR THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND CAUSE PROBLEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE RPMS INCREASED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FILTER SYSTEM IN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
2005 ACURA TL FRONT SUSPENSIONS HAVE A DESIGN DEFECT WHICH PROMOTES FAILURE TO SUPPORT LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND LEADS TO LOSS OF STEERING. FIRST - THE COMPLIANCE BUSHING FOR THE LOWER CONTROL ARM FAILS ALLOWING THE STEEL CONTROL ARM TO CONTACT THE ALUMINUM SUB FRAME EXTENSION. THE SOFT SUB FRAME MATERIAL IS WORN OUT FROM CONTACT WITH THE HARD LOWER CONTROL ARM MATERIAL. EVENTUALLY, THE EXTENSION FROM THE SUB FRAME LOSES ITS ABILITY TO SUPPORT FORCES FROM THE LOWER CONTROL ARM AND FAILS. I WAS FORTUNATE TO AVOID A CATASTROPHIC EVENT WHEN THIS ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED DURING AN ANNUAL STATE INSPECTION AND LEAD TO REPLACEMENT OF THE SUB FRAME AND COMPLIANCE BUSHINGS. FAILURE OF THE COMPLIANCE BUSHING IS NOT OBVIOUS TO THE DRIVER TO PROMOTE REPAIR ACTIONS; AS THERE ARE NO AUDIBLE OR DRIVING SIGNALS TO INDICATE THIS HAS OCCURRED. FAILURE OF THE COMPLIANCE BUSHING AND SUBSEQUENT FAILURE OF THE ALUMINUM SUB FRAME WILL LEAD TO LOSS OF STEERING. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY AND ON A LIFT WHEN THE ISSUE WAS OBSERVED.
