CRACKED DASHBOARD OVER AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE IN WHICH THERE ARE POST AND COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME EXACT CRACK IN THE SAME LOCATION ON THE ACURA TL 2005 AND A FEW OTHER YEARS! I HAVE ANOTHER THAT JUST CAME UP TODAY 2-20-14 OF A CRACK DOWN THE CENTER INTO THE SPEAKER ON THE DASH. THIS IS A HAZARD AS IT IS OVER THE AIRBAG AND CAN CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE AND THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY ACURA! *TR
ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO A SMALL CRACK APPEARED IN THE DASHBOARD OF MY '05 ACURA TL. THE DASH CONTINUED TO SPLIT TO OVER A FOOT IN LENGTH. WITHIN A MONTH OF THE FIRST CRACK, A SECOND ONE APPEARED AND GREW TO MATCH THE SAME LENGTH. THESE CRACKS OUTLINE THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. WHAT AFFECT DOES THIS HAVE ON THE SECURITY OF THE AIRBAG? I'M CONCERNED THAT A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT IS ENDANGERED AS THE STRUCTURE IS COMPROMISED? I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF TL OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S FOUND PREDOMINATELY IN THE 2004 - 2007 MODELS. I'VE READ THAT ACURA HAS ADMITTED AN "ISSUE" WITH THE DASH, BUT WANTS THE OWNERS TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. THE COSTS RANGE FROM $2000 - $3000 PER CAR. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. IT WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2005 AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY TL CURRENTLY HAS 66849 MILES ON IT. I'D LIKE TO RECEIVE SOME ASSISTANCE WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE A 2005 ACURA TL AND YESTERDAY I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I GOOGLED IT AND DISCOVERED SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. SOMEONE POSTED A LINK TO THIS SITE SO HERE I AM. CAN WE GET THIS RECALLED PLEASE? IT'S NOT VERY ATTRACTIVE. FOR THE PRICE I PAID FOR THIS CAR I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS HAPPENING. *TR
CRACKS APPEAR ON DASHBOARD ABOVE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. ACURA CLIENT RELATIONS CLAIMS THIS IS A COSMETIC ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AS AN ON-GOING ISSUE SINCE 2009. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART ON THE VEHICLE. QUOTE TO FIX THIS "BLEMISH" IS OVER 2K. ACURA WILL ONLY PAY 50% I MUST PAY THE OTHER $1000. I BELIEVE ACURA SHOULD HAVE THIS REPLACED. AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF. HOPING THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR
ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR (AP SENSOR) SUFFERED A SUDDEN AND CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AS I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO LOSE ALL PROPULSION, AS THE ENGINE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND IMMEDIATELY WENT TO IDLE. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND/OR GET REAR ENDED, AS I WAS TRYING TO MERGE INTO RAPIDLY MOVING TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. MY ENGINE CHECK LIGHT AND VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON IMMEDIATELY, AND THE TRANSMISSION BUCKED AS IT TRIED TO ASCERTAIN WHAT GEAR IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS ENOUGH ROOM TO COAST OFF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING WHATSOEVER THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND DEALER MAINTAINED. *TR
It happened years ago - the passenger side dash cracked. Now there are more cracks and I am reading that this could pose a risk if the passenger side airbag deployed. I’ve always thought it was a manufacturing flaw for the dashboard to crack in the first place but never did or said anything about it before. Now I am concerned about the safety of my passengers.
THERE ARE TWO VERY LARGE CRACKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD THAT SEEMINGLY APPEARED OVERNIGHT. SPECIFICALLY, THE CRACKS THAT RUN THROUGH THE AREA WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS LOCATED. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 3 MPH, THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE THEN RESET AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PERSONAL MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE HAD INITIATED IN OPEN LOOP MODE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 136,800.
GOT IN CAR AND NOTICED CRACKS IN PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASH BOARD. CRACKED AROUND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND CRACKED FROM SPEAKER IN DASH TO WINDSHIELD. *TR
DASHBOARD IS CRACKING WHERE THE SIDE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND OTHER AREAS ON DASHBOARD, I'M CONCERN THAT IF IN TIME THE DASHBOARD WILL CONTINUE TO CRACK IF THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY AND HURT MY PASSENGERS. *TR
VEHICLE DASH COVER HAS LARGE CRACKS RUNNING FROM DEFROST OUTLETS AFT TO REAR EDGE OF DASH COVER, PATICULARLY IN THE VICINITY OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. PASSENGER AIR BAG IS POTENTIALLY EXPOSED TO UV DAMAGE AND OTHER CONTAMINATION EFFECTING DEPLOYMENT RELIABILITY. *JS
MY 2005 ACURA HAS DEVELOPED 2 VERY SEVERE CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD SURROUNDING THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I AM NOT SURE HOW THIS WILL AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND GAS PEDAL FAILED TO OPERATE PROPER....AFTER SLOWING DOWN TO ABOUT 20 MPH IT STARTED UP AGAIN AND I REGAINED THE SPEED OF ABOUT 60. THEN IN ABOUT 2 MILES IT HAPPENED AGAIN, I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TOOK TO THE CLOSEST ACURA DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE APP SENSOR AND NOTED "PEDAL POSITION SENSOR FAILURE" THE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THIS HAPPENED ON JUNE 5, 2012, THEN ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2012 I WAS PARKING IN OUR OFFICE PARKING LOT AND THE GAS PETAL ACCELERATED AS I WAS PUTTING THE GEAR SHIFT IN THE PARK POSITION. I ACCELERATED SO FAST I HIT THE CONCRETE STOP TOOK OFF AIRBORNE WENT OVER THE EMBANKMENT AND DOWN TO THE STREET BELOW. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE CAR ENTIRE FRONT END WAS WRECKED. THE SEAT BELT DID INDEED SAVE ME FROM MORE SERIOUS INJURY THAN I DID RECEIVED. *TR
A CRACK IN THE DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AT THE AIRBAG WAS NOTICED THE SUMMER OF 2012. IT STARTED OUT SMALL AND EVENTUALLY RAN THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE DASH. SINCE THAT DAY SEVERAL MORE CRACKS ON BOTH SIDES HAVE APPEARED DURING DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE YEAR. HEAT CAUSES THE CRACKS TO CLOSE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THEM AND OPEN UP WHEN THE WEATHER OR INTERIOR IS COOLER. YESTERDAY THE 6TH CRACK APPEARED, THIS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THE ENTIRE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS VISIBLE WITH BOTH SIDES OUTLINED BY CRACKS. HEAT ALONE IS NOT CAUSING THIS AS THE LAST CRACK WAS NOTICED IN 40 DEGREE WEATHER. WITH THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAVING CRACKS I AM WORRIED THAT THE DASH IS UNSTABLE AND COULD BREAK OFF DURING A CRASH AND BECOME A DANGEROUS PIECE OF DEBRIS WHEN (IF) THE AIRBAG IS ACTIVATED IN A CRASH. I AM ALSO WORRIED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WILL NOT ACTIVATE DUE TO THE DAMAGE TO THE DASH. *TR
CRACKS HAVE DEVELOPED IN DASHBOARD OF 2005 ACURA TL. LOCATED ALONG EDGE OF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG (OUTLINING RIGHT SIDE OF AIRBAG) AND ABOVE STEERING COLUMN. CONCERNED THAT PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY, OR WILL CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY IN THE EVENT IT DOES DEPLOY. GARAGE KEPT, APX 98K MILES WHEN FIRST CRACK APPEARED. *TR
DASHBOARD CRACKS -NOTICED SMALL CRACK IN MY 2005 TL DASHBOARD OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IN MAY 2012. OVERNIGHT IT GREW FROM FRONT TO BACK. MY CAR IS GARAGED. CONTACTED MY SERVICE ADVISOR BY PHONE AND HE STATED IT WAS COSMETIC AND DUE TO HIGH HEAT AND HIGH MILEAGE. I STATED CAR WAS GARAGED AND I OWNED OTHER CARS THAT WERE AS OLD AND NEVER EXPERIENCE THIS. HE TOLD ME COST WAS $1850 TO REPLACE. HE SAID HE'D SEND THE COMPLAINT TO CORPORATE AND GET BACK TO ME. HE CAME BACK TO ME AND SAID ACURA WOULD PAY 75% OF COST SINCE I WAS A GOOD CUSTOMER. I SAID THAT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND I WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO REGIONAL MANAGER. HE SAID HE'D TAKE THE REQUEST FURTHER. IN THE MEANTIME I NOTICED ANOTHER CRACK. A WEEK LATER I GOT A CALL STATING ACURA WOULD PAY 85% AND I'D PAY $247 PLUS TAX. I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAG COULD MALFUNCTION AND NOT DEPLOY WHEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR DEPLOY FOR NO REASON. I DECIDED TO PAY THE $247. DEALER STATED HE WOULD GIVE ME A LOANER CAR. BEFORE I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR I NOTICED TWO MORE CRACKS. MY CONCERN IS SAFETY FOR ME AND MY PASSENGERS AND I DID NOT FEEL SAFE WITH DASHBOARD CRACKS. THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW OR MATERIAL DEFECT AND ACURA SHOULD RECALL TO SATISFY CUSTOMERS. TOO MANY OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM AND THIS IS A LUXURY CAR. ACURA KNOWS IT'S AN ISSUE OTHERWISE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE AGREED TO PAY $85%.
MY DASHBOARD HAS 3 HUGE CRACKS OVER THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR DUE TO THE FEELING THAT THE AIR BAG CAN DEPLOY ANY MINUTE. I RECENTLY HAD MY AIR BAGS TURNED OFF FOR PIECE OF MIND BUT NOW I PUT MY WIFE AND KIDS IN DANGER BECAUSE WE NO LONGER HAVE SAFETY AIR BAGS TO PROTECT US. THIS IS ALSO QUITE EMBARRASSING WHEN I DRIVE BUSINESS PARTNERS AROUND TOWN AND MY DASH IS CRACKED AND THE AIRBAG LIGHTS ARE FLASHING. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR BUT DEFECTS LIKE THIS GIVE THE BRAND A TERRIBLE REPUTATION.
PAYING THE MONEY FOR A LUXURY CAR WOULD MAKE YOU THINK YOU WERE BUYING A QUALITY PRODUCT. UNFORTUNATELY, AFTER ONLY 7 YEARS OF OWNING MY CAR, THERE ARE 2 HUGE CRACKS IN MY DASHBOARD WITH ONE OF THEM BEING RIGHT ALONG THE OUTLINE OF MY AIRBAG. I AM HOPING THIS CRACK DOES NOT AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF MY AIRBAG IF EVER NEEDED, BUT I GUESS I WON'T FIND OUT UNLESS IT IS DEPLOYED AND THE REST OF MY DASHBOARD SHATTERS INTO PIECES PROBABLY CAUSING ANOTHER INJURY! *TR
THE HANDS FREE LINK (HFL) MODULES HAVE BEEN FAILING RESULTING IN A 200MA CURRENT DRAIN. THIS RESULTS IN THE MODULE SHORTING OUT AND MAY SUBSEQUENTLY RESULT IN A FIRE. I DISCOVERED THIS AS A RESULT OF THE BATTERY DRAINING TO 5 VOLTS OVERNIGHT AS WELL AS A MUCH HIGH THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURE OF THE PLASTIC COVER UNDER THE HFL MODULE. I REMOVED THE MODULE ACCORDING TO ACURA SERVICE BULLETIN 05-020 DATED SEPTEMBER 23, 2005. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MERGE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S DESTINATION AND WAS LATER TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V097000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
I DIDN'T HAVE AN INCIDENT BUT MY DASHBOARD IS CRACKED EVERYWHERE INCLUDING WHERE THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER AIRBAGS ARE LOCATED. ACURA CLAIMS WEAR AND TEAR BECAUSE I LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND REFUSES TO FIX THIS EVEN THOUGH THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY A LUXURY CAR AND NO OTHER CARS IN SOUTH FLORIDA HAVE THIS ISSUE, PLUS MY CAR IS GARAGE KEPT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND APPARENTLY 1000S OF ACURA TL OWNERS FROM 2004 HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THESE NEED TO BE REPAIRED OR THE CARS TAKEN OFF THE ROADS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED LARGE CRACKS ALONG THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DASHBOARD WHERE THE AIR BAG WAS LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ON 01/14/2012 AND THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING. I JUST THANK GOD MY 11 MONTH OLD WASN'T SITTING IN HER CAR SEAT IN THE BACKSEAT. *TR
MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AS A RESULT OF MY DASHBOARD CRACKING. THE DASHBOARD STARTED CRACKING AND LIGHT CAME ON A FEW YEARS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. I WORK FROM HOME SO MY CAR IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE MOSTLY. IN THE PAST I'VE HAD CARS SIT IN THE SUN ALL DAY AND THE DASHBOARD NEVER CRACKED. I HAVE TALKED TO ACURA SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX IT. THEY WANT ME TO PAY $700 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH IT IS A DEFECT. I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND I DO NOT HAVE ANYONE SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT BECAUSE I'M WORRIED IT WILL NOT DEPLOY. I SHOW MANY FORUMS WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT ACURA REFUSES TO HELP. I GUESS THEY WONT DO ANYTHING UNTIL SOMEONE IS INJURED.
FRONT DASH IS CRACKED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD MATERIAL WAS SEVERELY CRACKED AT THE WINDSHIELD AREA AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000. UPDATED 03/16/12*LJ
MY ACURA 2005 TL FORMED GIANT CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD OVERNIGHT. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE AIRBAGS DUE TO THESE CRACKS, MY RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THAT THE CRACKS ONLY GET WORSE AND APPEAR ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IF THE DASH IS NOT REPLACED. THERE WERE TWO HAIRLINE CRACKS ON MY DASHBOARD WHEN I PURCHASED MY CAR ABOUT A YEAR AGO. OVER THE WINTER MONTHS THE CRACKS SEEMED TO SPREAD. I'M AFRAID THAT THE CRACKS AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG COULD CAUSE INJURY IF THE AIRBAG EVER DETONATED AS THE AIRBAG WOULD LIKELY MALFUNCTION. THE DASHBOARD ON MY ACURA TL 2005 CRACKED & THEY DID REPLACE MY DASHBOARD WITH "GOOD WILL". MY PAINT STARTED FADING ALL OVER MY CAR & THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PAINT. THE PAINT STARTED FADING AT 95,000 MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED ACURA'S HEADQUARTERS, SENT LETTERS & PICTURES & THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! THE ONLY REASON THEY REPLACED MY DASHBOARD THEY SAID WAS TO TRY TO GET MY BUSINESS! THEN THEY PROCEEDED TO SAY THAT BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE OWNED 3 ACURAS I WAS NOT A LOYAL CUSTOMER SO THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT MY PAINT! I HAD MY CAR PAINTED AT A LOCAL BUSINESS IN TOWN! I REAR ENDED SOMEONE WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FREEWAY. THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME HAD SLOWED DOWN AFTER NOTICING THAT THE PERSON IN FRONT OF HER HAD SLAMMED ON HER BRAKES. I WAS TRAVELING AT LEAST 40 MPH AND DID NOT NOTICE THE CAR IN FRONT HAD SLOWED DOWN/STOPPED AND I REAR-ENDED HER. HER CAR HAD A LOT OF REAR BUMPER DAMAGE. MY CAR SUSTAINED THE BRUNT OF THE FORCE AND WAS DAMAGED IN THE FRONT. NO ONE WAS HURT, BUT MY HUSBAND WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, WHILE MY 2 YEAR OLD WAS IN HIS CAR SEAT IN THE BACK. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT WAS A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT. THIS ACCIDENT, THANKFULLY, WAS NOT FATAL, HOWEVER COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN. THIS HAPPENED ON A VERY BUSY FREEWAY WITH CARS TRAVELING AT LEAST 65 MPH. IT ALSO HAPPENED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER A SLIGHT TURN IN THE FREEWAY, MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR CARS TO NOTICE AN ACCIDENT IN TIME TO STOP. MY CAR COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE COLLISION. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT ANYMORE (EVEN AFTER IT'S FIXED) BECAUSE I VIEW THAT CAR AS A LOADED GUN AND I'M PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE. IT'S MY PRIMARY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AND WE USE THIS CAR FOR ANY TRAVELING WE DO. MY SON IS MOSTLY IN MY CAR (SCHOOL, ETC.). I WANTED TO REPORT THIS SO THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO OTHERS AND, GOD FORBID, BE FATAL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THESE INCIDENCES SO NO UNNECESSARY CONSEQUENCES OCCUR AS A RESULT OF FAULTY AIRBAGS. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HER WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 76,000.
2005 ACURA TL. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DASHBOARD SPLIT REPAIRS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THERE ARE SEVEN JAGGED CRACKS; STARTING WITH THE MOST SEVERE WHICH ARE OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND ENDING AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. *JB
THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED WITH CRACKS ALL OVER. FOOT LONG CRACK ON THE RIGHT OF THE AIR BAG AREA AND SMALL CRACK AT THE CENTER FRONT SPEAKER. THE AIRBAG AREA IS COVERED WITH LONG CRACKS FROM THE DASHBOARD TO THE WINDSHIELD. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENT OF ANY KIND, BUT THE DASHBOARD HAS A LOOK OF LONG CRACKS ALL THROUGHOUT. THERE ARE MANY DOCUMENTED ACURA TL'S WITH THIS VERY SAME CRACKING PATTERN ON FACEBOOK AS WELL AS ACURAZINE COMMUNITY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE BUILD AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER AS A RECALL! *TR
I OWN A 2005 ACURA TL AND NOTICED A SMALL CRACK IN MY DASHBOARD ABOUT EIGHT MONTHS AGO. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE MY AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS JUST A COSMETIC DEFECT AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. NOW OVER THE PAST MONTH THERE ARE CRACKS EVERYWHERE AND ACURA STILL WON'T HELP BECAUSE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I AM VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE IF MY AIRBAGS WILL WORK IF NEEDED AND I'M ALSO CONCERNED THAT THEY COULD POSSIBLY DEPLOY WHILE I'M DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I'M NOT PROTECTED FROM AN ACCIDENT AND THIS DEFECT COULD ALSO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, CAUSING SERIOUS HARM TO ME AND MY FAMILY. *KB

THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD NOT NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER TO GET A GOOD WILL FAVOR TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BY THE CONTACT WHO ADVISED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS NOT A DEFECT AND THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
I OWN A 2005 ACURA TL AND PURCHASED IT NEW. I ENJOY THE CAR, HOWEVER, NOTICED A CRACK THAT FORMED DIRECTLY OVER THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG IMPRESSION ON THE DASHBOARD IN AUGUST OF 2011. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME, AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGE KEPT. I NOW HAVE 83,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AND THE ORIGINAL CRACK THAT FORMED HAS NOW GROWN VERTICALLY FROM WHERE THE DASH CONNECTS TO THE WINDSHIELD ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE GLOVE BOX ACCESS. ADDITIONALLY, SEVERAL OTHER CRACKS HAVE FORMED AROUND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG IMPRESSION ON THE DASH, AND MOST RECENTLY, I HAVE A CRACK THAT FORMED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE DASH. I HAVE OWNED THREE OTHER HONDA/ACURA PRODUCTS, AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE BEFORE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, AND RIGHT NOW AM IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING A REGIONAL MANAGER REVIEW MY CASE. EVEN BEFORE HEARING BACK FROM THE REGIONAL MANAGER, THE DEALER HAS ALREADY INFORMED ME THAT SOME "CAPITAL PARTICIPATION" WILL BE REQUIRED FROM ME, AND THAT THE DASHBOARD COSTS $1,850 NOT INCLUDING TAX. I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK WHAT THEY WILL DO FOR ME, BUT BASED UPON OTHER COMMENTS FROM OTHER TL OWNERS I HAVE SEEN ON-LINE, I AM NOT OVERLY OPTIMISTIC. OBVIOUSLY AESTHETICS ARE A FACTOR IN THIS CASE, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, I AM WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY OF ANY PASSENGER THAT MAY BE RIDING IN MY CAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

I HAVE MULTIPLE CRACKS ALONG MY DASHBOARD FROM THE WINDSHIELD DOWN TO THE AIRBAG, ACROSS THE AIRBAG, AND ACROSS THE STEERING COLUMN. THE DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE SINCE THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MFG DEFECT. I HAVE PARKED NEXT TO THE SAME MODEL CAR AND NOTICED THE SAME CRACKS IN THE SAME ERROR AS WELL AS RESEARCHED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED MOST 2004-2005 TL OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. 4 DAYS AGO, I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK APPEARING ALONG THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND NOW, THE CRACK HAS GOTTEN WORSE. IT AS GROWN TO CIRCLE AROUND ALONG THE AIRBAG.

OVER A 24 HOUR PERIOD THE A CRACK RUNNING THE FULL WIDTH OF THE DASH APPEARED IMMEDIATELY ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THIS HAS CAUSED THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO BEGIN GOING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE AIRBAG IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT IT MAY MEAN THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY OR DEPLOY CORRECTLY, OR IT MAY MEAN THAT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS WHEN IT SHOULD NOT. IT WILL ALSO MEAN THAT SHARDS OF PLASTIC FROM THE DASH WILL FLY AROUND THE CABIN CAUSING ADDITIONAL AND UNNECESSARY INJURY TO OCCUPANTS. I WILL NO LONGER ALLOW PASSENGERS IN MY CAR FOR FEAR OF THE INJURY THIS MAY CAUSE THEM. THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN AND WELL-DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 TL. ACURA CORRECTED THE PROBLEM WITH SUBSEQUENT MODELS AND HAS REPLACED THE DASH FOR MANY OF THOSE WHO COMPLAINED, LABELING IT "GOODWILL", BUT THEY HAVE NOT ELECTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM ON ALL AND DO NOT DEAL WITH IT CONSISTENTLY. PLEASE HAVE ACURA ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS.
THE DASHBOARD IN MY 2005 ACURA TL HAS SUDDENLY BEGUN DEVELOPING BAD CRACKS. THE MOST CONCERNING CRACK IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE LEADING FROM THE FRONT WINDOW TOWARD THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN AIR BAG DEPLOYS? I AM AFRAID OF WHEN THE AIR BAG DEPLOYS THAT THE DASH WILL SEPARATE INTO SEVERAL SHARDS OF PLASTIC AND IMBED IN FACE, UPPER-BODY OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER.
