THE GLOVE BOX BROKE BY SIMPLY OPENING THE GLOVE BOX. THE WHOLE GLOVE BOX DOOR FAILED. *TR
RIGHT AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS, ESPECIALLY WITH THE LIGHTS. MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT WOULD CONSISTENTLY TURN OFF, THEN SOME TIME LATER COME BACK ON. THIS WOULD HAPPEN PERIODICALLY, BUT THE WORST IS WHEN I AM DRIVING 60MPH+ AT NIGHT AND LOSE ALL MY LIGHTS. RUNNING LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, HIGH BEAMS, FOG LIGHTS, ALL OF IT. THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY EVERY WEEK. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASE MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AND NEVER CAME BACK ON. I RECEIVED AN ERROR ON MY DASH THAT STATES "RIGHT DIPPED HEADLIGHT." I CHECKED IT OUT AND DECIDED TO CHANGE THE BULB. WELL, I DID AND THAT DIDN'T WORK. I LOOKED UP MORE INTO IT ONLINE AND IT'S QUITE AN EXPENSIVE FIX, AND IT'S NOT GUARANTEED TO EVEN WORK. MY HEADLIGHT IS OUT AND ABOUT EVERY WEEK SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK MY LIGHTS COMPLETELY GO OUT UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH LOTS OF PEOPLE I DISCOVERED ON GOOGLE. *TR
THE BRAKES SPONTANEOUSLY ENGAGED WITH NO WARNING. *JS
AUGUST 2014, DRIVING AT NIGHT, HIGHWAY SPEEDS (65MPH+) BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED AND WENT OUT, NO ILLUMINATION. TOOK SEVERAL TRIES TO RESET BY LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH. WOULD RESET, THEN FLICKER AND BOTH HEADLIGHTS OUT. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND ABLE TO GET THERE OK. VEHICLE IS IN AT SERVICE FOR REPAIR. *TR
TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED
AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, BEFORE THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE ENGINE FAILED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE AUDI DEALER AND AFTER TWO DAYS THE DEALER QUOTED $7000 TO START WORKING ON THE ENGINE. TECHNICIAN FOUND THE TIMING SLIPPED AND VALVES WERE DAMAGED. THE OIL LEVEL WAS FINE, BUT THE DEALER DID NOT DETERMINE WHY THE OIL PRESSURE FAILED. SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FOR A4'S THROUGH 2005. *TR
HEADLIGHT WENT OUT CAUSED LIGHT TO COME ON. *TR
WHILST DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN A DOWNPOUR ESP AND EPC LIGHTS LIT UP AND THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE, DISABLING THE MAJORITY OF ENGINE POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED PRIOR ONLY IN WET RAINY CONDITIONS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND HAD THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT GO OUT. THE FAULT INDICATOR STATED THAT THE RIGHT DIPPED HEADLIGHT HAD A FAULT, THEN THAT THE BULB WAS BAD. I KEPT DRIVING, AS I THOUGHT THAT I COULD SEE WELL ENOUGH WITH THE LEFT LIGHT. AFTER A WHILE, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE LEFT DIPPED HEADLIGHT. AGAIN, I KEPT DRIVING, AS I THOUGHT THAT I COULD SEE WELL ENOUGH WITH THE RIGHT LIGHT. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, I ENTERED THE INTERSTATE, AND INCREASED MY SPEED TO ABOUT 65 MPH, AND DROVE IN THE MIDDLE LANE AS I ANTICIPATED GOING TO THE LEFT SIDE WHEN THE ROAD SPLIT IN ABOUT THREE MILES AND THEN EXITING SHORTLY AFTERWARD. THEN BOTH LIGHTS WENT OUT. I HAD TO SIGNAL TO GO TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD, THROUGH TWO LANES OF FAIRLY HEAVY TRAFFIC, AND STOPPED. LUCKILY, ANOTHER DRIVER WHO HAD NOTICED THAT I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS OFFERED TO DRIVE SLOWLY IN FRONT OF ME TO ALLOW ME TO CONTINUE UNTIL I COULD GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY ON OFF-HIGHWAY STREETS TO GET HOME, BUT BOTH LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE HAD THREE OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENTS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT. *TR
ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16TH AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 P.M. IT WAS DETERMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT ASE CERTIFIED AUTO-CENTER IN MILFORD, OHIO THAT THE ENGINE HAD GOOD OIL PRESSURE HOWEVER AUDI STATED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE DAMAGE. THE CAM SHAFT DID SHOW WEAR AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE P CODES P2293 AND P0089 ON THE HPFP. I THEN RETURNED THAT INFORMATION BACK TO AUDI DEALERSHIP ? AUDI CONNECTION IN MONTGOMERY, OHIO WHERE I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER EXPLAINING THAT THEY DID NOT SEE ANY SIGNS OF LOW OIL PRESSURE ISSUES AND REQUESTED THEM TO HONOR THE INTERNALCAMPAIGN ON THE WORN CAM SHAFT/CAM FOLLOWER ISSUE. HE THEN REFUSED TO HONOR MY APPEAL AND STATED THAT IT DID HAVE INTERNAL DAMAGE DUE TO LACKOF OIL PRESSURE SHOWING NO EVIDENCE ONLY TO REFUSE TO DISCUSS THIS MATTER ANY FURTHER WITH ME RETURNING BACK TO HIS OFFICE. THEN AUDI CONNECTION DID RELENT WEEKS LATER, AFTER STATING EARLIER THAT THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE WORK, OFFERING TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS AT A LATER TIMELINE; A TIMELINE THAT I COULD NOT AFFORD TO BE WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND PAYING ON A RENTAL. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE TYPE; AUDI A4 T2.0 QUATTRO 2006 YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL HAS A HISTORY OF OIL SLUDGE ISSUES AND AUDIUSA HAS HAD CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS ON SUCH EVENTS-BELOW IS ONE SIMILAR TO MINE..."A SETTLEMENT NOTICE FOR THE VW AND AUDI OIL SLUDGE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WILL BE MAILED AND PUBLISHED IN USA TODAY ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 29, 2010. THE FINAL APPROVAL HEARING IS SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 11, 2011." SINCE THEN, WHILE THE INDEPENDENT ASE CERTIFIED AUTO-CENTER IN MILFORD, OHIO DID LATER DISCOVER UNREPAIRABLE ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO OIL SLUDGE ISSUES-KNOWN ISSUES TO AUDIUSA. I HAVE PAID OUT OF POCKET OVER $9,000 ON REPAIRS ALONE THAT AUDI KNEW ABOUT, BUT FAILED TO HELP IN ANY WAY...ANOTHER BIG BUSINESS WINS AGAIN OVER THE COMMON PERSON. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS MORE TO THIS ISSUE THAN WE KNOW. *TR
TOOK THE AUDI A4 QUATTRO TO THE AUDI CONNECTION OF CINCINNATI DEALERSHIP FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) ON P CODES P2293 & P0089 WHICH INDICATES A POSSIBLE CAM FOLLOWER, CAM SHAFT, AND/OR HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (HPFP) ISSUES BACK ON THURSDAY MORNING APRIL 10TH, 2014. LATER, I SPOKE WITH LEE AT THE SERVICE DESK WHO STATED THAT THE CAM SHAFT WAS WORN AND WOULD BE A COVERED ITEM ON THIS INTERNAL AUDI CAMPAIGN; HOWEVER, HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET TO IT UNTIL THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY SINCE IT WOULD TAKE A FULL DAY TO REPAIR PUSHING IT INTO FRIDAY.I RECEIVED A CALL FRIDAY APRIL 11TH AT APPROXIMATELY 11:30 A.M. AND IT WAS LEE STATING THAT THE CAM SHAFT WOULD NOT BE REPLACED DUE TO AN OIL PRESSURE ISSUE THAT DAMAGED BOTH CAM SHAFTS AND ENGINE. HE LATER STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED THAT COULD COST UPWARDS OF $8,000.00. I LATER SUSPECTED OIL SLUDGE ISSUES THAT WERE ALSO ON A RECALL. YES, THE AUDI CONNECTION DID LATER RELENT, AFTER STATING EARLIER THAT THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE WORK, OFFERING TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS AT A LATER TIMELINE; A TIMELINE THAT I COULD NOT AFFORD TO BE WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND PAYING ON A RENTAL. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE; AUDI A4 T2.0 QUATTRO 2006 YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL HAS A HISTORY OF OIL SLUDGE ISSUES AND AUDIUSA HAS HAD CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS ON SUCH EVENTS- ALL ANYONE HAS TO DO IS TO DO THEIR RESEARCH AND LOCATE ISSUES CONCERNING THE VERY ISSUES I TOO HAVE EXPERIENCED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 AUDI A4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC STOP, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR BOX MECHATRONICS UNIT NEEDED BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,200.
I EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF MY CAR WHEN I STARTED ACCELERATING AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. I HAD NO INDICATION AS TO WHAT WAS CAUSING THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, SLAMMING ON THE BREAKS AND USING THE EMERGENCY BREAK THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED AFTER GOING ABOUT A QUARTER OF A MILE. ONCE I GOT THE CAR TO STOP, I KEPT THE CAR TURNED ON AND CALLED 911 WHO DISPATCHED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. I GOT OUT OF MY CAR BECAUSE I WAS SCARED AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO.. I DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WAS OK TO TURN THE CAR OFF. BECAUSE THE ACCELERATOR WAS FLOORED BY THE CAR MAT THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED. THE FIREMAN HAD TO BREAK THE WINDOW TO GET INTO THE CAR AND THE FIREMAN FOUND THE CAR MAT LODGED UNDER THE ACCELERATOR AND HAD TO RIP IT OUT FROM UNDER THE PEDAL. I HAD NEVER HAD ANY INDICATION PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THAT MY CAR MAT COULD MOVE AND GET LODGED. PER THE FIREMAN, THIS HAPPENS A LOT WITH THESE TYPES OF CAR MATS. I DIDN'T GET FURTHER EXPLANATION FROM HIM, BUT AFTER TALKING TO MANY PEOPLE AND SCOURING THE INTERNET I FOUND THAT NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE ACCELERATOR GET STUCK BECAUSE OF THE CAR MAT IN THEIR AUDI'S. IN SOME CASES IT WAS THE AUDI DEALERSHIP TELLING THEM THE CAUSE WAS THE CAR MAT. AUDI REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE ANY FLAW WITH THE DESIGN AND REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR MY EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE INCIDENT. LUCKILY THIS OCCURRED ON A SUNDAY AROUND 11:30AM SO THERE WERE VERY FEW CARS ON THE ROAD. TOYOTA RECALLED THEIR CARS WITH MATS THAT SLIPPED, WHY SHOULD AUDI NOT HAVE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM? *TR
BOTH HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT AT RANDOM TIMES. SOMETIMES IT SAYS RIGHT DIPPED HEADLIGHT AND SOMETIMES LEFT DIPPED HEADLIGHT AND SOMETIMES BOTH. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON I-45 S TO HOUSTON AND AT 9 PM, I TRIED TURNING MY FRONT FOG LIGHT ON AS IT WAS GETTING FOGGY OCCASIONALLY. I WAS AT 75 MPH SPEED ON RIGHT LANE, ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL LIGHTS WENT OUT, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE MEDIAN AND AFTER PLAYING AROUND SOME KIND OF LIGHT CAME BACK, DROVE TO NEAREST EXIT TO GAS STATION ABOUT A MILE FURTHER AND CHECKED ALL LIGHTS, IT WAS WORKING FINE NOW. I HAVE READ SIMILAR KIND OF COMPLAINT HERE AND NOT SURE IF IT IS GETTING ATTENTION. DOES DEATH HAS TO OCCUR BEFORE NHSTA AND AUDI LISTEN TO THIS PROBLEM. 75 MPH IN INTERSTATE AT NIGHT WITHOUT LIGHTS ON, CAN YOU IMAGINE MY SITUATION. IT CAN EASILY CAUSE DEATH AND DAMAGE. FIX THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS NOT BULB ISSUE, IT IS MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
HEADLIGHT FLICKERS THEN GOES OUT. WHEN CAR IS RESTARTED THE LIGHT WORKS BUT THEN GOES OUT WHEN DRIVING AGAIN. *JB
AT AN INTERSECTION, A FORD F250 PICKUP, PULLING A TRAILER, TURNED LEFT INTO MY 2006 AUDI A4 AVANT. MY VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT THROUGH INTERSECTION TRAVELING AT ABOUT 20 TO 25 MPH.. I WAS TRAVELING ALONE, WITH MY SEAT BELT ON. MY VEHICLE WAS CRUSHED UP TO THE FIREWALL AND WAS TOTALED (PHOTOS ARE AVAILABLE). THE AIR BAGS ON MY VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY. THE BELT TENSIONER DID DEPLOY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 AUDI A4. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED FUEL PUMP, A WORN INTAKE CAMSHAFT, AND A FAULTY CAMSHAFT FOLLOWER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
IN OCTOBER 2006, PURCHASED A NEW 2006 AUDI A4 FROM CAROUSEL AUDI IN GOLDEN VALLEY, MN. THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS LESS THAN 62,000 MILES TODAY. IN LATE SUMMER OF 2013, I BEGAN NOTICING THAT THE CAR JERKED HEAVILY WHEN PUTTING IT INTO REVERSE FROM A PARKED POSITION. THE CAR HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND I THEN BEGAN NOTICING THE CAR NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY AND LABORING WHEN NEARING 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE MOTOR WOULD REV UP AND MAKE AN UNUSUAL SOUND AND IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE AUDI DEALER AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER MODULE WERE NOT COMMUNICATING PROPERLY AND THAT IT NEEDS A NEW MODULE AT A COST OF ABOUT $3800. THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR ANY OF THE REPAIRS. WHEN I ASKED BOTH THEM AND AUDI NORTH AMERICA ABOUT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 61,000 OTHER AUDI OWNERS ACROSS THE U.S., THEY REFUSED TO DISCUSS THE MATTER. I BELIEVE THAT AUDI HAS KNOWINGLY MADE AND SOLD A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE THAT IS DANGEROUS AND POSES GREAT RISK TO ITS OWNER AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. I BELIEVE THAT AUDI SHOULD BE FORCED TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND RECALL VEHICLES WITH THIS WELL DOCUMENTED DEFECT AND PAY FOR MY REPAIR AS WELL AS FOR OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. *TR
AUDI A4, 2006 CONVERTIBLE : AFTER DRIVING THE CAR 12 MILES IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON A 2 LANE STREET I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, NOT A LOT. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. TEMP OUTSIDE WAS 75. SO I DROVE ANOTHER 2 MILES, THEN I SAW A LOT OF SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD - I TURNED ON THE TURN SIGNAL TO GET INTO THE OTHER LANE AND THEN THE COOLANT LOW SIGN CAME ON THE DASH. THEN A LOT MORE SMOKE. AFTER LETTING THE CAR COOL IN A PARKING LOT, I ADDED THE COOLANT/WATER MIX AS CALLED FOR IN THE SERVICE BOOK ( HAD THE STAFF AT OREILLY AUTO PARTS LOOK UP THE CORRECT COOLANT). AS SOON AS I STARTED THE ENGINE ALL THE COOLANT RAN OUT. I CALLED THE TOW COMPANY TO TOW THE CAR TO THE SERVICE STATION. IT APPEARS TO BE A CRACKED VALVE. ALSO 3 RADIATOR HOSES ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR JUST HAD A FULL TUNE UP 2 MONTHS EARLIER. *TR
THE LEFT HEADLIGHT OF MY 2006 AUDI A4 HAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM: 1. THE LEFT HEADLIGHT FLICKERS 2. IT THEN TURNS ITSELF OFF 3. THE MESSAGE "LEFT DIPPED HEADLIGHT" APPEARS IF I TURN THE LIGHT OFF (NOTE: WE'RE TALKING ABOUT DRIVING AT NIGHT HERE) AND TURN IT BACK ON AGAIN, THE LIGHT WILL BECOME NORMAL AGAIN, FOR ABOUT A FEW SECONDS TO MINUTES AND THEN THE CYCLE REPEATS ITSELF. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. A NUMBER OF OTHER DRIVERS SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AS WELL AS EVIDENCED BY THE COMMENTS ON SEVERAL OTHER FORUMS AND SPEAKING WITH THE AUDI DEALER. I WAS TOLD NO "CAMPAIGN" HAS BEEN ISSUED. *TR
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MARCH 2012. APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS LATER THE "CHECK ENGINE " LIGHT CAME ON . HAD THE CODES CHECKED AND MAIN CODE CAME BACK P0722 WHICH DIRECTED ME TO A "DEALERSHIP ONLY" REPAIR. IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THE TCM WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACING. I FIND OUT AUDI INITIALLY USED A FAULTY PLASTIC PART THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF WOULD FAIL. I CALLED AUDI USA FOR ASSISTANCE AND THEY WORKED OUT A 15% DISCOUNT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND NO ASSISTANCE FROM AUDI USA. I INFORMED THEM THAT I STILL FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT IF THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH AUDI TRANSMISSIONS THEN THEY SHOULD COVER FULL COST OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
LEFT HEADLIGHT/PARKING LIGHT DIPPED. EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE SIGNAL. FLICKERED THE BULB AND SHUT OFF. IF YOU SWITCH OFF THE LIGHT AND RESTART, IT IS ON FOR A MINUTE AND AGAIN THE SAME. *TR
BOTH HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF AT ANY TIME. ERROR MESSAGE SAYS LEFT/RIGHT DIPPED HEADLAMP. IT SEEMS LIKE A DESIGN/ENGINEERING FLAW. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THIS COULD RESULT IN DEATH, INJURY, AND MONETARY FINES FROM THE POLICE. THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS KEEP FLICKERING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING.AUDI: THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE CONDITIONS THAT BOTH OCCUR IN VEHICLES WITH BI-XENON, WITH OR WITHOUT ADAPTIVE LIGHTING (AFS): ONE XENON LIGHT ON EITHER SIDE SPORADICALLY FLICKERS OR FLASHES AND GOES OUT. WHEN HEADLAMPS ARE TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN OR AT IGNITION CYCLE, THE HEADLAMPS MAY FUNCTION PROPERLY OR EXHIBIT THE SAME BEHAVIOR; ONE XENON LIGHT ON ONE SIDE FAILS PERMANENTLY. *TR
HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AND SOMETIMES EMIT A WARNING THAT STATES "TIPPED HEADLIGHT" WHICH TRIGGERS THE CAR TO IMMEDIATELY TURN THE AFFECTED HEADLIGHT OFF--THIS CAN OCCUR WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED OR IN MOTION. IT USUALLY HAPPENS TO ME WHEN I AM DRIVING, BUT THERE IS NO PATTERN AND IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO TURN THE HEADLIGHTS OFF AND THEN BACK ON, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS!!! THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST AUDI WHERE THEY WILL REFUND A PORTION OF YOUR REPAIRS FOR THE FAULTY HID HEADLIGHTS ON THE 2006 AUDI A4, BUT AUDI STILL CLAIMS THAT THEY ARE NOT LIABLE AND NOT AT FAULT (HTTP://WWW.HIDHEADLIGHTSETTLEMENT.COM/). PLEASE FORCE AUDI TO RECALL THIS HEADLIGHT PROBLEM--I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY MY LOCAL DEALER CLOSE TO A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO SAFETY REASONS (THE CLASS ACTION SUIT ONLY REFUNDS REPAIRS PRIOR TO AUGUST 2013 AND WON'T EVEN COVER THE ENTIRE COST). THE VEHICLE FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS HAS HAD HEAD LAMP PROBLEMS. I WILL BE DRIVING ALONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE OF THE HEADLAMPS WILL FLICKER AND THEN GO OUT. A WARNING ON THE DASH WILL SAY LEFT (OR RIGHT) HEADLAMP DIPPED. THE ONLY WAY TO ALTER THE SITUATION IS TO TURN THE HEADLAMP OFF AND THEN BACK ON AT SPEED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE DEALER HAS SAID THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE SITUATION AND THEREFORE CANNOT FIX IT. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THAT MANY AUDI A4 OWNERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM ON A REGULAR BASIS. IT IS BEYOND BELIEF THAT AUDI, A MANUFACTURER THAT PRIDES ITSELF ON SAFETY, HAS NOT INVESTIGATED THIS PROBLEM AND COME UP WITH A FIX. I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE INITIATED AND AUDI SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM/DEFECT. *TR
AFTER THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED, THE LEFT HAND LIGHT FLICKERED THEN WENT OUT. THE DISPLAY AREA GAVE ME A WARNING THAT THE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS OUT. IT HAPPENS EACH NIGHT AND IS REMEDIED BY DEACTIVATING THE HEADLIGHTS THEN TURNING THEM ON AGAIN. I HAD BOTH HEADLIGHTS CHANGED IN JUNE, BUT THE RIGHT HAND HEADLIGHT DOES THE SAME NOW. *TR

MY 2006 AUDI A4 JUST DIED ON THE ROAD THE DAY AFTER I DID THE 95K SERVICES.. COULDN'T START UP THE CAR AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS AND FINALLY WHEN I COULD, IT WAS VERY LOUD AND SHAKY.. GOT SOME SMELLS FROM THE FRONT ALSO BUT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I SENT IT BACK TO THE DEALER RIGHT AWAY AND GOING THROUGH SOME DIAGNOSIS, WE NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE THE CRANKSHAFT INSIDE THE ENGINE'S GOT BROKEN SLEEVES. PRIOR TO THIS, THERE WERE RECALLS ON MY CAR, MY SERVICE LIGHT WAS ON FOR A WHILE AND IT WAS LINKED TO THE RECALL, THEY REPLACED THE BREATHER, BUT DID NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE TURBO PIPE.. WHEN MY CAR DIED ON THE ROAD, I WAS LUCKY THAT JUST TURNING OUT FROM DUNKIN DONUTS FOR AN VERY EARLY MORNING COFFEE (5AM), BECAUSE IT WAS SO EARLY, THERE WEREN'T MANY CARS, OTHERWISE THERE WOULD VERY LIKELY BE A CRASH. *TR
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON OCTOBER 17, 2012, THE 2006 AUDI A4 THAT I WAS DRIVING WENT INTO UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION. THE FIRST INSTANCE OCCURRED ABOUT 5:30 PM WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP, AFTER A STOP LIGHT TURNED GREEN, TO A SPEED OF 55 MPH (WHICH WAS THE MAXIMUM SPEED ALLOWED). AS I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR AS THE VEHICLE APPROACHED THE 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE - EVEN THOUGH I HAD RETRACTED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. TO GET THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL I QUICKLY AND FIRMLY TAPPED THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE THEN SLOWED DOWN. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER, I WAS REQUIRED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AS CARS IN FRONT OF ME MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN. AFTER THE (3) VEHICLES MADE THEIR TURN, I THEN QUICKLY ACCELERATED THE CAR UP TO THE 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT. AS MY CAR REACHED THE 45 MPH LIMIT I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. BUT. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I THEN CHANGED THE GEAR SHIFT FROM "DRIVE" TO "NEUTRAL". THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO INCREASE IN SPEED (THE ENGINE WAS "SCREAMING" AT MAXIMUM RPM) BUT I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO "SCREAM" AT MAXIMUM RPM'S UNTIL I TURNED THE KEY TO THE VEHICLE TO THE "OFF" POSITION. BASED ON THE ABOVE, MY WIFE WILL NOT LONGER DRIVE OUR AUDI A4. *TR
UPON INITIAL START OF THE VEHICLE, JUST ABOUT EVERY START, THE LEFT HEADLIGHT WILL FLICKER AND THEN SHUT OFF AND SHOW A LEFT DIPPED HEADLIGHT ON THE DISPLAY. SHUTTING OFF THE LIGHTS AND TURNING THEM BACK ON ALLOWS THE BULB TO TURN ON AGAIN, BUT THE FLICKERING KEEPS HAPPENING UNTIL THE LIGHT WARMS UP THEN IT STOPS. THE CAR IS A 2006 A4 PURCHASED NEW IN MARCH 2007 THEREFORE 5 YEARS AND 3 MTHS AND 60,000 MILES. FROM WHAT I CAN'T READ ON THE WEB, THE OIL IS LOST IN THE RACK AND PINION BOX. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME AT AUDI DEALER IN PAST 6 WEEKS, TWO ELECTRIC WINDOW REGULATORS, BEARING FRONT WHEEL AND NOW POWER STEERING PROBLEM THAT I THINK WILL GO IN THE 600$ TO 1000$ REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT DIPPED/LOWERED. THE HEADLIGHT WENT DARK THEN TURNED OFF. AT THE SAME TIME THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT STARTED TO FLICKER, AND SEEMED LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO FAIL ALSO. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE IF THE ROAD, AS I COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD. OWNER WAS DRIVING, VEHICLE STARTED TO EXHIBIT A SLIGHT BUCKING, SMOKE CAME INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. PULLED OVER AND OBSERVED SMALL FIRE ON TOP OF ENGINE. ANALYSIS REVEALED FIRE ORIGIN AT #1 IGNITION COIL ON TOP FRONT OF ENGINE. FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED QUICKLY AND VEHICLE IS REPAIRABLE. *TR
THE LEFT HEADLIGHT OF MY 2006 AUDI A4 QUATTRO REGULARLY FLICKERS, THEN TURNS ITSELF OFF, THEN INDICATES A "LEFT DIPPED HEADLIGHT" ALONG WITH AN INDICATOR THAT THE LIGHT BULB HAS FAILED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, INTERMITTENTLY. IF I TURN THE LIGHT OFF (NOTE: WE'RE TALKING ABOUT DRIVING AT NIGHT HERE) AND TURN IT BACK ON AGAIN, THE LIGHT WILL BECOME NORMAL AGAIN, FOR ABOUT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN THE CYCLE REPEATS ITSELF. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE AUDI DEALERSHIP, AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT AUDI KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT -- CHANGING THE LIGHT BULB DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
