TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 AUDI Q5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V660000 (FUEL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUDI WEST HOUSTON (15865 KATY FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77094) TO BE REPAIRED. WHILE REPAIRING THE FUEL PUMP FLANGE, THE DEALER CUT THE FUEL LINE, WHICH PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM BEING DRIVEN AND ALLOWED FUEL TO LEAK IN THE BACK SEAT. THE DEALER DID NOT CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TIMING CHAIN AND/OR TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILURE ON MY VEHICLE. THIS SAME ISSUE IS IIN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. MY VEHICLE ENGINE SIZE AND YEAR ARE LISTED BUT MY CAR IS NOT COVERED. I HAVE THEY EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE AND WILL HAVE TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE REPAIRED. I FEEL LIKE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO OTHER VIN #'S THAT ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE BUT ARE NOT BEING ACKNOWLEDGED BY AUDI. THE VEHICLE BARELY STARTS AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY POWER WHEN MOVING FORWARD. IT WAS IN MOTION.
I AM HAVING TO ADD OIL EVERY 500-800 MILES. I DID NOT HAVE THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE DUE TO IT SOUNDS LIKE A WASTE OF MONEY AND THEY DO NOT EVEN FIX THE PROBLEM. IS ANYONE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS IN THE 2013 MODELS? I AM THINKING ABOUT TRADING IT IN OR MAYBE I SHOULD JUST GO TO A DIFFERENT MAKE TRUCK.
TIMING CHAIN JUMPED AT 63,000 MILES. AND VEHICLE ALSO NEEDED CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT.
DUE TO EXTREME COLD WEATHER THE REAR SUNROOF GLASS PANE SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVER NIGHT IN NEGATIVE DEGREE WEATHER; NOT IN MOTION. AUDI DEALERSHIP RECOGNIZES THIS AS A NATURAL CAUSED INSTANCE, NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND NOT COVERED UNDER THE PAST RECALL, WHICH WAS ONLY FOR THE FRONT SUNROOF GLASS PANE.
CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE CAUSED BY JUMPED TIMING CHAIN CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAIR TENSIONER. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ON 12/03/2015 WITH 45,483 MILES. I MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE AT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS DUE TO THE DISMAL SERVICE AT THE ONLY DEALERSHIP IN TOWN AND ITS POOR ONLINE REVIEWS. I FREQUENTLY ADDED OIL TO THE ENGINE WHEN PROMPTED BY THE CAR. ON JANUARY 10, 2016, I LEFT THE GYM AND STARTED MY CAR. IT TOOK LONGER THAN NORMAL TO TURN OVER, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE NEXT DAY, I TOOK THE CAR TO AUTOZONE WHO PULLED THE P001600 DTC CODE (CRANK POSITION SENSOR AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CORRELATION). I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO ALSO PULLED THE P001600 IN ADDITION TO THE P02900 DTC (TURBO UNDER BOOST). THAT MECHANIC ALSO HEARD NOISE FROM ENGINE TIMING COVER AREA AND COOLANT SEEPAGE/LEAK AT THE WATER PUMP AREA. THEY RECOMMENDED THE CAR BE TOWED TO A SPECIALIST, WHICH WAS DONE. HE PULLED THE P001600 (237) DTC CODE AND A P0562 LOW VOLTAGE CODE. AT THIS TIME, I CONTACTED AUDI OF AMERICA AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE ISSUE. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE TIMING CHAIN CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THE DEFECTIVE TENSIONER, BUT INFORMED THAT MY VIN WASN'T COVERED. AT THEIR RECOMMENDATION, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO AN AUDI DEALERSHIP. ALL SERVICE RECORDS, OIL RECEIPTS, ETC WERE PROVIDED TO AUDI. AUDI "DECLINED ASSISTANCE", LEAVING ME WITH AN UNDRIVEABLE CAR, A $750 BILL FROM THE MECHANIC, $55 TOW BILL, $150 (AND GROWING) RENTAL CAR CHARGE, AND AN ESTIMATE OF OVER $8K TO RE-BUILD THE ENGINE. ADDITIONAL RECORDS AVAILABLE.
TAMARA RECALL. MY DEALER, AUDI OF STRATHAM NH KEEPS SENDING ME CARDS TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT A MONTH AGO AND WHEN I ARRIVED WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT. MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR TODAY, 1/4/19, ON THE BASIS OF BEING TOLD THAT THEY HAD IT IN HAND. WHEN I CALLED TODAY THEY DIDN'T. THEY BLAME IT ON AUDI, SAY THEY ARE ONLY THE DEALERSHIP. I MUST HAVE RECEIVED 15 OR MORE NOTICES FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR FOR 2 YEARS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT PENSKE AUDI WEST COVINA (2016 E GARVEY AVE S, WEST COVINA, CA 91791, 866-713-0688) FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE WATER PUMP AND ASSEMBLY HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000. EVERY TIME I CALL THE AUDI DEALER NEAREST ME WHICH IS MISHAWAKA, IN THEY NEVER HAVE ANY PARTS. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED SINCE OCTOBER OF 2017. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD.
THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS WEAR OUT VERY QUICKLY. THE LATEST ONES I ADDED ON 11/7/2017. AND WERE REPLACED ON 9/1/2018. THIS IS THE 3RD SET, SINCE THE OEM FACTORY CONTROL ARMS WERE INSTALLED IN APRIL 2012 IN GERMANY.

Oil consumption is getting worse and worse. Currently, I am adding a quart of oil every 3 days in between regular oil changes. This is a real issue. I just spent 5,000 dollars approx. on a tune up at a foreign car body shop but they could not repair the oil issue. This is now a known issue with Audis. What can be done to help this issue?

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION
I AM A MILITARY SERVICE MEMBER ASSIGNED IN STUTTGART, GERMANY. MY VEHICLE WAS SHIPPED HERE IN DECEMBER 2017, AT THAT TIME THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS. NOW MY VEHICLE IS AFFECTED BY THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. BELOW IS WHAT I SENT AUDI OF AMERICA AS WELL AS THEIR RESPONSE. PLEASE ASSIST IN RESOLVING THIS MATTER BECAUSE AUDI OF USA DID NOT PROVIDE A VIABLE, SAFE SOLUTION. THANK YOU MY VEHICLE IS IN STUTTGART, GERMANY AND WAS SHIPPED AS PART OF MY MILITARY WORK DIRECTED MOVE IN OCTOBER 2017. THIS VEHICLE HAS AN OPEN TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL AND YESTERDAY I VISITED A LOCAL GERMAN DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH INSPECTING MY CAR OR REPLACING AN AIRBAG IF NEEDED. COULD YOU PLEASE AND URGENTLY LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN RESOLVE THIS RECALL ISSUE WHILE MY VEHICLE IS IN STUTTGART, GERMANY? I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT ASSIST CONSIDERING THE RISK POSED TO THE DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS/PEDESTRIANS IF THIS AIRBAG ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED IN A TIMELY MANNER. I NOTICED MY OIL LIGHT COMING ON FREQUENTLY AND AUDI TOLD ME THAT THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A FAULTY HOOD LATCH SENSOR. AFTER ABOUT 6 MONTHS I ENDED UP PAYING TO REPLACE THE HOOD LATCH ONLY TO FIND OUT A MONTH LATER THAT MY OIL LIGHT CAME BACK ON SO THEY TOLD ME JUST ADD OIL. AFTER ANOTHER YEAR THEY AMOUNT OF OIL HAS INCREASED RAPIDLY AND I'M CURRENTLY AT 79,600 MILES. I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON MY CAR UP TO YEAR 2011 ON THIS EXACT ISSUE. PROBLEM IS I HAVE A 2012 THAT WAS ORDERED IN 2011 AND I HAVE THE SAME ENGINE MODEL CAEB HAS THE OTHERS. I FILL UP 1 QUART EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK. AUDI TOLD ME IT WAS OKAY TO KEEP FILLING WITH OIL AND IT WOULDN'T BE ANY DAMAGE, WHEN I FOUND OUT IT DOES CAUSE DAMAGE. THERE IS NO OIL LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM, SO IT IS SCORING IN MY PISTON RINGS.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR HAS A VERY LARGE HOUSING AND CAUSES A BLIND SPOT JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAVE HAD 2 NEAR MISSES, ONE WITH ALMOST HITTING A CAR AND ONE WITH ALMOST HITTING A PEDESTRIAN. THEY WERE IN THE BLIND SPOT WHEN I BEGAN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, FROM A STOP, AND DID NOT SEE THEM. I WAS ON A CITY STREET, STOPPED AND THEN BEGAN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON BOTH OCCASIONS.
TAKATA RECALL: WE HAVE NOW RECEIVED 4 OR 5 LETTERS OVER THE PAST 9 MONTHS INFORMING US OF THE RECALL AND TELLING US OUR LIFE MAY BE IN DANGER AND TO CONTACT OUR DEALER IMMEDIATELY TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED. WHEN I CALL OUR DEALER (PEABODY, MA), THEY INFORM ME THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WILL. WHEN I CONTACTED AUDI USA THEY INDICATED IT IS NHTSA WHO DETERMINES WHICH DEALERS GET THE PARTS AND WHEN. IF YOU AREN'T SUPPLYING THE PARTS, DON'T REPEATEDLY REQUIRE AUDI TO SEND ME LETTERS TELLING ME MY LIFE MAY BE IN DANGER. IT'S A BIT LIKE THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF, I NO LONGER BELIEVE YOU REALLY MEAN MY LIFE IS IN DANGER, BECAUSE IF YOU DID, YOU'D ENSURE THE PART IS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE 2 MOST RECENT LETTERS ARE ATTACHED.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WAS PULLING INTO MY PARKING SPOT AT WORK (SLOWING DOWN, STEPPING ON BRAKE) WHEN CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. I PRESSED HARD ON THE ON BRAKE, IT WOULD NOT STOP. IT WAS BUCKING LIKE A BRONCO. IT WENT OVER THE CURB, ACROSS THE SIDEWALK. BY THEN I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET. IT TOOK OUT A 3-FT. TALL LIGHT ON THE LAWN BEFORE I THREW IT INTO NEUTRAL AND STOPPED IT.
STILL WAITING FOR MY AIRBAG FIX
TAKATA RECALL: I HAVE CONTACTED MANY DEALERS (SINCE MAY 2017) AROUND MY AREA AND THEY MENTIONED THEY ARE AWAITING PARTS FROM TAKATA COMPANY. I DO HAVE AN 2012 AUDI Q5. NOT SURE HOW TO RESOLVE THIS. I WANTED TO BE SAFE AND SEE IF YOU CAN HELP US IN ANY WAY. THANK YOU
TAKATA INFLATORS. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER 6 MONTHS FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE FIXED FROM THE TAKATA AIRBAG ISSUE. I WAS TOLD AGAIN 4/17/2018 THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND WANT AUDI TO PAY FOR A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THE PARTS ARE REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT WE CAN DO TO GET THESE PARTS IN AND REPLACED.
TAKATA RECALL MANUFACTURER ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE (69N1) IN APRIL 2016 AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT SINCE. I'VE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 17 MONTHS AND EACH TIME THEY SAY THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE AND CANNOT REPAIR.

IT'S NEARLY A MONTH NOW AND I HAVEN'T GOT THE CAR. DOES IT TAKE THAT LONG TO FIX THE AIRBAG? VIN # [XXX]. TAKATA RECALL. I CALLED AUDI OF PRINCETON NJ AND THEY INFORM ME THE PARTS ARE BACKORDERED, WITH NO IDEA OF THE ETA. THIS IS CONCERNING GIVEN THE DANGEROUS NATURE OF THE AIRBAG INFLATOR COULD POTENTIALLY RUPTURE DUE TO PROPELLANT DEGRADATION.

I DROVE MY CAR TO WORK, PARKED IN THE GARAGE, PICKED UP THE CAR, THE GARAGE ATTENDANT BROUGHT IT TO ME AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS IN PARK WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR, BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND ULTIMATELY THE ENGINE NEVER STARTED AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO AUDI MANHATTAN THE NEXT MORNING. THE CAR HAS NOT WORKED SINCE. IT WILL BE A WEEK THIS COMING FRIDAY, AUGUST 4, 2017.

TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEAL WHERE THE DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO CHARGER FAILED AFTER ONLY 45,371 MILES. WITH THE VEHICLE HAVING AVERAGED LESS THAN 10,000 MILES DRIVEN PER YEAR, THE FAILURE IS NOT FROM EXCESSIVE WEAR OR USE.

TAKATA AIRBAGS - THE DEALERSHIP NEAR US THAT SERVICES OUR AUDI VEHICLES WILL NOT PERFORM THE RECALL WORK SERVICE. THEY CLAIM THE STEERING WHEEL WAS CHANGED. THEY QUOTED US A $2500 PRICE TO REPLACE THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEN THEY CAN DO THE RECALL WORK. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED. WE DID NOT CHANGE THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING WHEEL IS AN AUDI S LINE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAR IS AN S LINE AS INDICATED ON VARIOUS PARTS THROUGHOUT THE CAR. I WENT TO LUXURY HAUS WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS. I CONTACTED AUDI OF AMERICA AND THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE ISSUE BUT CLOSED OUR CASE WITH NO WRITTEN EXPLANATION. I SPOKE TO THE PERSON HANDLING MY CASE AND THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN IT TO ME AS THEY WERE NOT QUALIFIED. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A QUALIFIED PERSON SO I CAN AT LEAST UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I NEVER RECEIVED AN EXPLANATION EITHER WRITTEN OR VERBAL OVER THE PHONE. WE DID NOT CHANGE THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING WHEEL MATCHES THE MAKE AND MODEL OF THE CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL IS AN AUDI PRODUCT. WE DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WE NEED TO SPEND $2500 TO GET ANOTHER SAME STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO GET THIS SAFETY RECALL COMPLETED. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR. IT IS 6 YEARS OLD. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US WE CANNOT TRADE THE CAR IN UNTIL WE ADDRESS THE RECALL. I COULD NOT TRY TO SELL IT PRIVATELY KNOWING THIS SAFETY PROBLEM EXISTS AND DUMPING THIS PROBLEM ONTO SOMEONE ELSE. IT SEEMS VERY UNFAIR.

THE CONTACT WAS INSTRUCTED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

WE ASKED OUR DEALER REPEATEDLY FOR A FIX AND EVEN CONTACTED AUDI USA BUT THEY TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WE HAD FRIENDS AND RELATIVES WITH OTHER CAR BRANDS WHOSE DEALERS GAVE THEM LOANERS OR RENTAL CARS BUT AUDI OFFERED US NOTHING. ULTIMATELY, WE TRADED IN THE CAR BECAUSE WE WERE SO WORRIED.
TAKATA RECALL - I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL VIA USPS POSTAL MAIL SERVICE IN APRIL OF 2016 BY AUDI OF AMERICA INC. LOCATED AT 3800 HAMLIN ROAD, AUBURN HILLS MI 48326. SINCE THEN, I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE INQUIRIES TO AUDI SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AS TO HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE FOR MY AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THAT AS SOON AS THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE, I WOULD BE INFORMED AND ASKED TO BRING IN MY VEHICLE FOR SERVICE. AT THIS POINT, I AM EXPERIENCING ANXIETY WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND DECIDED THAT I WOULD TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW VEHICLE IN ORDER TO FEEL SAFE WHILE ON THE ROAD. WHILE AT THE FARMINGTON HILLS DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VALUE OF MY TRADE-IN WOULD ONLY BE $12,000 BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO RESELL THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FAULTY AIRBAGS. AS A CONSEQUENCE, ANY VEHICLE THAT I PURCHASE WOULD HAVE A $10,000 DEBT ROLLED IN BECAUSE OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MY TRADE-IN VALUE AND THE BALANCE OF MY EXISTING CAR LOAN. IF SOMEONE IS TO EXPERIENCE FINANCIAL DAMAGES AS A RESULT OF THE FAULTY AIRBAGS, IT SHOULD BE TAKATA AND NOT ME AS A CONSUMER. WATER PUMP BROKEN AT 39,000 MILES. BROKEN PLASTIC PROPELLER. CAR STARTED "BUCKING" AS I PULLED IN TO GET IT INSPECTED. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE...WATER PUMP FAILURES ARE SITED ON THE INTERNET BY MANY. I HAVE TALKED TO AUDI CUSTOMER SERVICE WITHOUT SUCCESS. AUDI OWNERS REPORT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN PAYMENT FOR THE PUMP AND EXTENDED WARRANTY. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT OPTIONS I HAVE IN THIS SITUATION.
TAKATA RECALL - THIS RECALL WAS STARTED IN FEBRUARY OF 2016 YET I WAS NEVER INFORMED BY AUDI THAT MY VEHICLE NEEDED THE AIR BAG FIXED AND THE AUDI WEBSITE STATES THAT A SOLUTION IS STILL PENDING. THE REAR VIEW MIRROR FELL OFF. A SMALL CLIP THAT HOLDS IT ON WAS BROKEN SIMPLY ADJUSTING THE MIRROR. I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE MIRROR WAS PUT BACK ON BUT IF I TOUCH IT OR ADJUST IT WILL FALL OFF.
AT 55K MILES THE ENGINE BURNS OIL MORE THAN EXPECTED. OIL LEVEL WAS BELOW MINIMUM LEVEL ABOUT 2K MILES BEFORE THE NEXT REQUIRED OIL CHANGE. AT AROUN 63K MILES , THE ENGINE REACHES THE MINIMUM LEVEL AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 3K MILES. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL BUT PREVIOUS YEAR Q5'S WITH 2.0T ENGINES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR SIMILAR ISSUES.

I WAS TOLD WHEN I WENT FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR LOW OIL PRESSURE, THEY THOUGHT MAY BE THE OIL SWITCH WAS AT FAULT AND I HAD TO PAY FOR IT WITH JUST 32000 MILES ON IT OIL PRESSURE LOW WARNING CAME BACK AGAIN WITH STARTING THE ENGINE ON THE DRIVEWAY.
