THIS IS NOT AN URGENT SAFETY ISSUE, BUT JUST A DUMB DECISION THAT SHOULD BE RECTIFIED. IT IS ALSO LIMITED TO DRIVERS UTILIZING HITCH OR OTHER REAR-ATTACHMENTS. THERE ARE CERTAIN SITUATIONS WHERE THE PARKING SENSORS CAN BE TOLD TO STOP BEEPING, BUT THAT ACTION ALSO DISABLES THE BACKUP CAMERA, WHICH IS NEEDED. THERE IS NO MECHANISM TO TURN OFF THE BEEPING AND KEEP THE BACKUP CAMERA ON. SERVICE CENTERS HAVE CONFIRMED THIS. THE MAIN SCENARIO WHERE THIS IS A PROBLEM IS WHERE THERE IS SOMETHING CONNECTED TO A HITCH, SUCH AS A BIKE RACK THAT MAY CAUSE THE CAR TO THINK THAT THERE'S AN OBJECT DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO THE VEHICLE. THESE BACKUP SENSORS ARE UNABLE TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN A HITCH-BASED MOUNT (WITHOUT POWER CONNECTED) AND SOMETHING THAT IS LEGITIMATELY TOO CLOSE WHILE REVERSING. WHEN POWER IS CONNECTED, SUCH AS WITH AN ACTUAL TRAILER TO SUPPLY POWER TO BRAKE LIGHTS, THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES THAT THE BACKUP WARNINGS WILL BE DISABLED AUTOMATICALLY. BUT WHEN SOMETHING LIKE A HITCH-BASED BIKE RACK IS ATTACHED THAT DOESN'T NEED POWER, THE WARNING ALARM SOUNDS CONTINUOUSLY WHILE BACKING UP. THIS IS ANNOYING, AND FOR PASSENGERS IN THE BACK IS ACTUALLY EXTREMELY LOUD. TURNING OFF THE ALARM DISABLES THE CAMERA AS WELL, WHICH IS....LESS THAN IDEAL AT LEAST. THE DESIRED MODE SHOULD BE TO TURN OFF THE ALARM WHILE KEEPING THE BACKUP CAMERA ACTIVE DURING THE ENTIRE REVERSING PROCESS. THE BEEPING WILL STOP AUTOMATICALLY ONCE THE VEHICLE STARTS MOVING FORWARD FASTER THAN SOMETHING LIKE 6MPH. HOWEVER, WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN AGAIN, IT MAY START A CONTINUOUS TONE ALARM AGAIN DUE TO THIS HITCH ATTACHMENT. PLEASE HELP AUDI REALIZE THAT DISABLING THE CAMERA IS INAPPROPRIATE.
A FEATURE CALLED REAR CROSS-TRAFFIC ASSIST TRIGGERS ERRONEOUSLY SOMETIMES. THE FEATURE IS DESIGNED TO DETECT OBJECTS SUCH AS CARS OR PEDESTRIANS THAT MAY BE MOVING BEHIND THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS REVERSING. THE DEFAULT ACTION IS TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE, WHICH IS A VERY JARRING EXPERIENCE AND LEADS THE DRIVER TO BELIEVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. OF THE TIMES THIS SYSTEM HAS TRIGGERED, OVER 50% SEEM TO BE FALSE POSITIVES; HOWEVER, SOMETIMES IT DOES TRIGGER AS INTENDED. IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT CONDITIONS MUST BE PRESENT FOR A FALSE POSITIVE TO OCCUR. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS WHILE REVERSING IN PARKING LOTS, EITHER INTO OR OUT OF SPACES. SPEEDS ARE USUALLY AROUND 1-6 MPH. IT HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE OWNING THE CAR, BUT I HAVE NOT KEPT A LOG INDICATING HOW OFTEN OR OTHER CONDITIONS AT THE TIME. I HAVE ASKED MY AUDI SERVICE CENTER ABOUT THE ABILITY TO DISABLE THIS AND IT DOESN'T APPEAR THAT THERE'S A WAY TO SELECTIVELY TURN THIS EXACT SAFETY FEATURE OFF. THE OWNERS MANUAL ADMITS THAT IT'S NOT A FOOL PROOF SYSTEM.
I WAS DRIVING 65 MILES AN HOUR ON I-95 IN THE LEFT LANE APPROACHING THE EXIT FOR I-695 NORTH ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 4TH AT 5:00PM. IT WAS RAINING. NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME OR BEHIND ME WHEN MY CAR DASH LIT UP WITH AN AUDI PRE SENSE RED SIGN ON A BLACK BACKGROUND. THE BRAKES STOPPED THE CAR SUDDENLY ON THEIR OWN AND MY SEAT BELT SLAMMED ME TIGHTLY INTO MY SEAT. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME OR THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MULTI CAR ACCIDENT. THERE WAS NOTHING VISIBLE ON THE ROAD TO SET THIS SYSTEM OFF. MONDAY MORNING I WENT TO THE DEALER TO SEE IF THEY COULD DISCONNECT THIS SYSTEM SINCE I WAS NOW AFRAID THIS WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND I WOULD NOT BE SO LUCKY WITH THE TRAFFIC SITUATION THE NEXT TIME. THEY LOWERED THE SENSITIVITY BUT THEY COULD NOT DISCONNECT THE SYSTEM. I ALSO CALLED AUDI TO INFORM THEM ABOUT THIS HAZARD. THEY NOTED IT ON THEIR RECORD BUT SAID IT IS PART OF THE CAR AND IT COULD NOT BE DISCONNECTED. WHEN I LOOKED ON LINE THERE WERE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM; HOWEVER NONE OF THE OTHER DRIVERS WERE ON THE OPEN HIGHWAY FULL SPEED AHEAD. CAN THIS PROBLEM BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEONE'S CAR CAUSES A MAJOR PILEUP WITH SERIOUS INJURIES. THANK YOU! *JS
THE VEHICLE CAN, AT TIMES, SOUND ALARMS INDICATING A RISK OF GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT WHEN THERE IS NO RISK PRESENT. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WHILE STOPPED. MY GUESS IS THAT THIS IS DUE TO SIMILAR SAFETY SENSORS INSTALLED ON OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD WHICH MY CAR MAY MISTAKE FOR SIGNALS FROM ITS OWN. I HAVE NOTICES THIS OCCURRING AROUND TESLAS MOSTLY, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED AROUND OTHER MAKES/MODELS AS WELL BUT THOSE ARE MORE RARE. THIS PROBLEM HAS SPECIFICALLY HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MORE THAN ONCE, AND HAS HAPPEND ALSO WHILE SITTING STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHILE NOT MOVING. I WAS NOT (IN MY OPINION) DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO OTHER VEHICLES AT THE TIME. HOW THE CAR REACTS IN THIS SITUATION IS TO BEEP LOUDLY, HALT ALL AUDIO (E.G. RADIO), AND CHANGE THE CENTER CONSOLE VIEW TO A MODE WHERE THE CAR IS ATTEMPTING TO SHOW HOW CLOSE OBJECTS ARE TO IT. THIS VIEW IS NORMALLY DISPLAYED WHILE PULLING INTO OR OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND IS NOT NORMAL FOR IT TO TRIGGER WHILE DRIVING, OR WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THIS MAY BE RELATED TO A FEATURE CALLED PRE-SENSE BUT I AM UNSURE IF THAT IS THE CASE. IT MAY SIMPLY BE SENSORS FROM OTHER CARS THAT TRIGGER CERTAIN SAFETY WARNINGS IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY SHOULDN'T BE TRIGGERED IN THIS MANNER. I HAVE NOT KEPT A LOG OF THESE INCIDENTS, SO I DO NOT HAVE EXACT SPEEDS OR DATES TO LIST (I PUT ONE ON THE FORM SINCE IT WAS REQUIRED.) BUT EVERY TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED IT HAS BEEN A FALSE POSITIVE. I HAVE HAD A SERVICE SHOP AT THE AUDI DEALER INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT. I DOUBT THEY WOULD BUT I WANTED SOME DOCUMENTATION THAT SHOWED I HAD OBSERVED ODD BEHAVIOR IN THE PAST IN THE EVENT THAT THE CAR TAKES AN EVASIVE ACTION ON MY BEHALF THAT RESULTS IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE ROAD - ESPECIALLY IT IT WAS DONE IN ERROR.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN A PARKING LOT WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO A STAIRWAY RAIL OF AN APARTMENT BUILDING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. THE CONTACT CALLED AUDI LIVERMORE (3400 LAS POSITAS RD, LIVERMORE, CA 94551) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
NAVIGATION LOCKS UP, DRIVER COCKPIT AND DASH SCREEN SHUTS DOWN WHEN CARPLAY IS ACTIVATED. AT TIME THE CAR DOESN'T RECOGNIZE CARPLAY. ADDITIONALLY THE VOLUME CONTROL WILL ONLY INCREASE AND NOT DECREASE VOLUME. SOMETIMES IT SAYS SPEECH RECOGNITION NOT RECOGNIZED WHEN ADJUSTING VOLUME. HAS NOT RESOLVED FOR THE 10 MONTHS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. *TR
1.I HAD AN ACCIDENT AT APPROXIMATELY 10:45 A.M. ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 IN THE PARKING LOT FOR THE MEDICAL OFFICES LOCATED AT 2000 SOUTH MAYS STREET, ROUND ROCK, TEXAS. 2.I PARKED IN A SPACE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE BUILDING, WHICH IS PART OF THEIR PROPERTY. 3.MY NORMAL HABIT IS TO PLACE THE CAR IN 'PARK' WHEN I STOP IN A PARKING SPOT. 4.SINCE IT WAS VERY WARM, I LEFT THE MOTOR RUNNING SO I'D HAVE AIR CONDITIONING AS I PLACED THE SUN SCREEN OVER THE WINDSHIELD. 5.THE SUN SHADE IS ONE PIECE AND TAKES A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT TO PROPERLY INSTALL. 6.WHEN I COMPLETED INSTALLING THE SUN SHADE, I NOTICED THE CAR WAS MOVING BACKWARDS AT LESS THAN 5 MPH. 7.I TRIED REPEATEDLY TO STOP THE CAR BY PRESSING ON THE BRAKE AND SLAMMING ON THE BRAKE. 8.WHAT WAS HAPPENING MADE NO SENSE TO ME; IT WAS SURREAL. WHY WAS THE CAR MOVING BACKWARDS AND WHY COULDN'T I STOP THE CAR? 9.THE CAR STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A PARKING LOT LIGHT POLE ON MY LEFT REAR AND THE LEFT FRONT OF A TOYOTA ON MY RIGHT REAR. 10.THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH EVERY PRE SENSE, DRIVER ASSISTANCE, AND COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM AUDI OFFERS; HOWEVER, ALL SYSTEMS FAILED TO DETECT OR AVOID THE COLLISION. 11.THE ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY SOME WEIRD PROBLEM WITH MY 2018 AUDI Q5. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO IN THE TIME I HAD WITHOUT THE BRAKES WORKING.
AUDI USA ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE WHEEL WELLS OF MY CAR, AND DESPITE MY REPEATED ATTEMPTS OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS TO GET AUDI SAN FRANCISCO TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR, THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED MY CALLS OR SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I'M CONCERNED THAT I'M DRIVING AROUND WITH A SAFETY ISSUE, AND AUDI SAN FRANCISCO DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE OR TO BE LIVING UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX SAFETY RECALL ISSUES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
I HAVE REPORTED TO SEWICKLEY AUDI, MY CLOSEST DEALER, ON SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS THAT MY BRAKES SEVERLY GRIND UPON APPLICATION. I WOULD BELIEVE THAT THE ROTORS ARE SEVERLY SCORERD OR WARPED. IT HAPPENS UPON FIRST USE EVERY DAY, AS WELL AS A LOUD GRINDING UPON EVERY STOP ESPECIALLY FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES ALTHOUGH I COMPLAINED FROM MY INITIAL VISIT , MY LAST INSPECTION AND RECENTLY BROUGHT IT IN SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT. THE NOISE/ GRINDING IS BAD, BUT THE LACK OF QUALITY BRAKING HAS ME MORE CONCERNED. I AM GOING TO TAKE IT TO "MIDAS MUFFLER" OR SOMEONE ELSE TO CHECK. I BELIEVE OTHER Q5 AND CROSS LINKED VOLKSWAGENS HAVE CALIPER PROBLEMS AND I BELIEVE MY CAR DOES AS WELL BUT THEY ARE UNWILLING TO REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY TO SAVE COST.
WHEN DEPRESSING GAS PEDAL FROM STOPPED (OR NEAR STOPPED) POSITION, THE VEHICLE FAILS TO RESPOND BEFORE MOVING FORWARD. THIS MOST FREQUENTLY OCCURS WHEN PULLING ONTO OR CROSSING A STREET, AND I'M CONCERNED IT WILL EVENTUALLY BE THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER HAS CHECKED THIS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT SAYS THAT THE RECORDER SHOWS NO PROBLEM. IT DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME, AND NO DEFAULT IS RECORDED, BUT IT CONTINUES TO OCCUR EVEN AFTER ALMOST TWO YEARS. DEALER HAS A NUMBER OF SERVICE REQUESTS FOR THIS ISSUE, ALL MARKED AS NTF. I ALSO HAVE COPIES OF 10 OR MORE EMAIL COMPLAINTS TO DEALER THAT CAN BE MADE AVAILABLE IS REQUESTED. ON JULY 16, 2019 WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING 2018 AUDI A5 ONE OF THE RIMS BLOW OFF (CRACKED) FORTUNATELY, MY WIFE WAS NOT INJURED SINCE IT WAS THE REAR RIM, SHE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR. THERE IS NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE RIM OR TIRE TYPICAL MARKS WHEN YOU HIT POTHOLE ON THE ROAD. I BELIEVE IT IS MANUFACTURE ISSUE OF THE RIMS. I SENT WRITTEN COMPLIANT REGARDING SAFETY OF DRIVING THIS CAR TO AUDI USA AND ASKED FOR INVESTIGATION. KNOWING THE OTHER THREE RIMS ARE FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURE BATCH I WOULD EXPECT AUDI USA WILL AT LEAST INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. AFTER ALMOST FOUR WEEKS I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY REPRESENTATIVE FROM AUDI CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER THAT COMPLAIN I FILED HAS BEEN DECLINE BASE OF TWO EVIDENCES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 AUDI Q5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK WITHOUT WARNING AND THE INDICATORS AND GAUGES COULD NOT BE VIEWED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCKINNEY AUDI (6650 TEXAS STATE HWY 121, MCKINNEY, TX 75070, (972) 390-2100) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED PATCHING IN THE "S 5 CHIP". THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,392. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
ON THE MORNING OF APR. 24, I WAS ON MY WAY TO DROP OFF MY KIDS AT THEIR SCHOOL WHEN I HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND REALIZED THE REAR WINDOW OF MY CAR SHATTERED AND LEFT GLASS ON MY SON'S LAP AND ALL OVER THE BACKSEAT AND FLOORBOARD. I WAS DRIVING ON SE 20TH ST., SAMMAMISH, WA AT ABOUT 30 MILES/HR. THERE WAS NO ROCK TO CAUSE THE EXPLOSION. THANKFULLY, MY SON WAS FACING HIS SISTER, TALKING TO HER, WHEN THE EXPLOSION OCCURRED. OTHERWISE, THE GLASS MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN INTO HIS EYES. MY KIDS WERE EXTREMELY FRIGHTENED BY THIS TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE, AND I HAD TO CONSOLE AND REASSURE THEM. I WAS FRIGHTED BUT RELIEVED THEY WERE NOT INJURED. I WENT TO AUDI BELLEVUE AND TOLD THEM THE WINDOW EXPLODED BY ITSELF. THEY SUGGESTED ME LEAVE THE CAR WITH THEM. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO SAY THE AUDI FACTORY DECLINED TO COVER THE COST. THEY TOLD ME THERE MUST HAVE BEEN AN OUTSIDE INFLUENCE TO CAUSE THE EXPLOSION, WHICH IS NOT THE TRUTH. THE WINDOW EXPLOSION SCRATCHED THE PAINT OFF THE REAR DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND HAD AUDI FIX THE WINDOW. I PAID FOR THE $500 DEDUCTIBLE. UNFORTUNATELY, EVEN WITH THE WINDOW REPLACED, I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE MY KIDS IN THE CAR. FURTHERMORE, MY KIDS WORRY ANOTHER WINDOW MIGHT EXPLODE ON THEM. THERE WAS NO SAFETY CHECK PERFORMED FOLLOWING THIS INCIDENT ON THE OTHER WINDOWS. ON MAY 7, I WENT TO GERBER COLLISION AND GLASS IN BELLEVUE FOR AN ESTIMATE ON THE BODY DAMAGE. THE COST IS ESTIMATED AT $1800. THE PROBABILITY IS THAT AUDI HAS DEFECTIVE WINDOWS AND THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. IT WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE AND DANGEROUS. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH AUDI. WE HOPE THEY WILL ULTIMATELY BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND WISH FOR THIS NEVER TO HAPPEN TO ANOTHER FAMILY OR RISK INJURY TO CHILDREN.
GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND MOON ROOF EXPLODED. AUDI SAYS IT WAS A ROCK, BUT NO OTHER VEHICLE WAS AROUND. WE WERE DRIVING BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MPH. SOUNDED LIKE A SHOT GUN WENT OFF IN OUR CAR. GLASS WENT EVERYWHERE. HIGH SAFETY ISSUE. ONCE AGAIN A ROCK DIDN'T HIT US THE MOON ROOF'S ARE NOT SAFE.
1)AUDI PRE-SENSE ACTIVATED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IN DRIVE, WITH DRIVER'S FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE WAITING IN THE LEFT TURN LANE OF A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE SEAT BELT PRE-TIGHTENED SUDDENLY, AND FORCEFULLY. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT A LIGHT THE OCCUPANTS COULD BE EXPECTED TO BE LEANING OVER, LOOKING IN THE GLOVE BOX ETC., AND THE PRE-TIGHTENING OF THE SEAT BELT COULD CAUSE AN INJURY. THIS IS ALSO STARTLING, SINCE IT SEEMS INDICATIVE OF A COLLISION, AND COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO REMOVE THEIR FOOT FROM THE BRAKE LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE PRE-SENSE SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO ONLY BE ACTIVE ABOVE 20MPH. ITS ACTIVATION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED IMPLIES A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT. COULD THIS DEFECT CAUSE OTHER SAFETY RELATED SYSTEMS TO ACTIVATE INCORRECTLY LIKE THE AIR BAGS?

IN TRAFFIC, THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT RISK OF A CRASH RESULTING IN DAMAGE AND POTENTIAL BODILY INJURY. THE AUDI PRE-SENSE IS DESIGNED TO STOP A CAR FROM AN IMMINENT CRASH, HOWEVER AN APPARENT FLAW IN THE TECHNOLOGY ENGAGES THE PRE-SENSE WITHOUT TOTALLY UNNECESSARILY (NO CROSS TRAFFIC, AT LEAST 10 FEET FROM A BUSH OR OTHER OBJECT). THE AUDI PRE SENSE WAS ACTIVATED WITHOUT ANY VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE CAR WHEN IT WAS AT SPEED ~50 MILES/HOUR. THE ROAD WAS EMPTY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE CAR BROKE REALLY HARD AND THE SPEED REDUCED TO LESS 20 MILES/HOURS IN 1-2 SECOND. THE DEALER SAID THAT AUDI HAS A PROVIDED THE DEALER WITH A TECHNICAL BULLETIN TO MAKE SOFTWARE CHANGES REMEDY THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, EVEN AFTER THE SOFTWARE CHANGES, THIS PROBLEM HAS RECURRED. AUDI HAS REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE BODY WORK. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, I PAID FOR THE BODY WORK. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, THE DEALER PAID FOR THE BODY WORK AFTER AUDI REFUSED TO PAY. THE CAR IS NOW GOING INTO THE DEALER FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD SO THAT THE DEALER CAN WORK WITH AUDI ENGINEERS TO HOPEFULLY SOLVE THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL. Hello, My Q5 top view(360) camera. The MMI wont be able to save my settings - when it is changed from Graphic to Camera. It always goes back to default as Graphic. I need to adjust almost every time when I park the car. It is distracting and safety conerning. This issue came with the car since it was bulit. And this is the common issue across the MY18 for Audi products. Audi dealer needs to charge me to fix the issue, due to the car is out of warrenty. But this is not caused by wear and tear. Thanks,

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WHICH WAS DISPLAYING GOOGLE MAPS, THEN BLACKED OUT, WITH ONLY THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACH DISPLAYING. AGAIN, CONTROLS WERE UNRESPONSIVE. THE SYSTEM THEN RESTARTED, SIMILARLY TO INITIALLY TURNING ON THE VEHICLE. THE "INITIALIZING MAP" MESSAGE APPEARED IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER BOTH THE CENTER SCREEN AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WERE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY, AND ALL CONTROLS WERE RESPONSIVE. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES BEHIND ME ALSO TURNING OR I'M SURE THEY WOULD HAVE REAR-ENDED MY VEHICLE GIVEN THE SEVERE BRAKING ACTION. EXPRESSWAY ROADSIDE IS NARROW, SO WAS NEARLY HIT BY MANY CARS WHILE WAITING FOR TOW SERVICE. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AND WITH FULL ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION, NO ABILITY TO PUT INTO NEUTRAL. AUDI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE DID NOT PROVIDE TIMELY TOW SERVICE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE.
SQUEALING BRAKES AT SLOW SPEEDS. DEALERSHIP ABLE TO REPLICATE ISSUE BUT UNABLE TO RESOLVE ADEQUATELY. THEY ASKING US TO REPLACE ROTORS AND PADS WITH SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLAR COST TO US. CAR IS ONLY 2 YRS OLD NOW. WE BOUGHT CPO AFTER CAR WAS USED BY DEALER SALESMAN FOR 6MO. BRAKES HAVE BEEN SQUEALING SOON AFTER WE GOT THE CAR.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ON 4/21/2017, I WAS SOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP ON THE ADVERTISED SAFETY FEATURE CALLED THE AUDI PRE SENSE. AUDI PRE SENSE DETECTS COLLISION HAZARDS ALL AROUND THE CAR AND INITIATES SPECIFIC PREVENTIVE MEASURES. ON 1/20/2018 AT 9AM I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET GOING ABOUT 10-15 MPH, I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WAS DRIVING OFF FROM THE INTERSECTION DUE TO THE GLARE IN MY EYES I WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE A CEMENT PILLAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR COLLIDED AND THERE THE ENTIRE FRONT WAS SMASHED IN, THE ENGINE BELT WAS CLIPPED.I CONTACTED AUDI HEAD QUARTERS AND DESCRIBED TO THEM THE INCIDENT, PROVIDED PICTURES, AND POLICE REPORT. AUDI CUSTOMER CARE TOLD ME THAT THE SAFETY FEATURE DOES NOT WORK IN SUNLIGHT AND THAT IN THIS CASED THE AUDI PRE SENSE WOULD NOT OF DETECTED ANYTHING. THIS IS FAR DIFFERENT FROM WHAT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD AS WELL AS WHAT IS PUBLISHED ON THEIR WEBSITE. THE AUDI PRE SENSE SHOULD BE 360 VIEW AND MY CAR SHOULD HAVE ALERTED ME THAT I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT.
MY VEHICLE HAS A SAFETY FEATURE CALLED AUDI PRESENCE. MY NEW VEHICLE Q5 PRESTIGE (LESS THAN 150 MILES, JUST 6 DAYS OLD) HAD MALFUNCTIONED WITH AN UNEXPECTED AUTOMATIC BREAK ON JAN 17TH 2018 AT AROUND 7:29PM CENTRAL TIME WHILE ON SERVICE ROAD OF HIGHWAY 114 GOING TOWARDS WEST (STRAIGHT ROAD IN MOTION) BEFORE REACHING THE INTERSECTION OF FREEPORT IN IRVING, TX. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE STREET THAT COULD BE IDENTIFIED AS AN OBJECT THAT WOULD CAUSE A COLLISION OR ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT. THE SUDDEN BREAK REALLY CAUSED A MENTAL SHOCK TO ME. I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE NO VEHICLE JUST BEHIND ME. I WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 40 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE USED COLLISION AVOIDANCE TECHNOLOGY FOR THE LAST 3.5 YEARS (MERCEDES BENZ, SUBARU FORESTER AND THE LATEST BEING TOYOTA COROLLA) AND I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE TECHNOLOGY AND NEVER RAN INTO SUCH ISSUES. I CONTACTED AUDI SUPPORT AND THEY MENTIONED IT IS NOT UNUSUAL AND YOU SHOULD TAKE IT TO DEALER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY INFORMED IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AND AUDI IS VERY SENSITIVE TO THIS COMPARED TO OTHER BRANDS TO BE MORE SAFE. THEY WERE NOT EVEN WILLING TO CHECK THE VEHICLE AND WANTED ME TO COME BACK IF IT HAPPEN AGAIN. THEY ALSO TOLD THEY HAVE NO WAY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED. ON MY ESCALATION ONE OF THE SENIOR MANAGER IN SALES TOLD ME HE OWNS AUDI AND PRE SENSE RUN INTO THIS ISSUES BUT NEED NOT BE WORRIED.FINALLY THEY RAN AN AUTOMATED TEST AND CONFIRMED THEIR REPORT DOES NOT SHOW ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE NOW BUT HAS THE FOLLOWING CONCERNS:1) AUDI CUSTOMER SUPPORT NOT DEALER IS APPEARS TO BE NOT TRAINED HOW TO HANDLE SAFETY ISSUES WHEN REPORTED. 2) DEALER DID NOT REGISTER MY REPORTED ISSUE. THEIR REPORT PROVIDED DID NOT CAPTURE WHAT ISSUE WAS REPORTED. TO ME THIS IS A BAD PRACTICE. IT IS UNCLEAR IF THIS WAS DELIBERATE.I APPRECIATE WHAT NHTSA DO.
I AM WRITING TO FORMALLY REPORT AN INCIDENT OF CONCERN. I PARKED MY AUDI Q5 IN MY DAUGHTER'S DRIVEWAY, LEAVING MY (VERY MINIMAL, NO METAL, JUST FLANNEL) POCKETBOOK IN THE CAR WITH THE AUDI FOB. IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES, I BROUGHT MY GRANDDAUGHTER WHO IS 4 DOWN TO THE CAR AND STRAPPED HER IN HER CAR SEAT IN THE BACK SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE CAR LOCKED UP. IT STAYED LOCKED. NONE OF THE DOORS OR THE HATCHBACK WOULD OPEN. THE KEYS WERE INSIDE. FORTUNATELY, MY GRANDDAUGHTER IS 4 AND CAN UNDERSTAND COMMANDS. SHE GOT HERSELF OUT OF THE CAR SEAT AND UNLOCKED THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. BUT THIS WAS VERY TROUBLING. WHAT IF SHE WERE 18 MONTHS OR YOUNGER STILL? WHAT IF SHE PANICKED? I THINK THIS IS A VERY BAD DESIGN FEATURE. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT IF I WERE IN A REMOTE LOCATION AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO CHECK ON SOMETHING AND THEN COULDN'T GET BACK IN. I NEVER TOUCHED THE FOB FROM THE TIME I EXITED THE CAR UNTIL I OPENED THE BACK DOOR FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTER. IT WASN'T LOCKED THEN; IT LOCKED ITSELF AFTER I BELTED HER IN.
PURCHASED A 2018 AUDI Q5 IN JULY 2017. THE ENGINE LOST POWER OR ACCELERATION WHEN MAKING A TURN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM.
