I HAVE HAD ABOUT 4-5 FLAT'S WITH THESE TIRES AT LOW SPEEDS (~35 MPH) - AT LEAST 3 OF THEM WERE IRREPAIRABLE IN A 9700 MILE PERIOD - I ENDED UP RECENTLY CHANGING ALL THE TIRES - PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 225/45 17 )

TIRES BUBBLED UP, STARTED TO SEPERATE TO UNSAFE CONDITION( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 225/45 R17 )
I NO LONGER OWN THIS CAR. AUDI HAS REPURCHASED IT. I AM NOT SUBMITTING THIS SO MUCH AS FOR MYSELF, BUT FOR OWNERS OF FRONT WHEEL DRIVE AUDI TTS AND VWS WHICH USE THIS TRANSMISSION. I HAVE APPROX. 70 CASES OF MOSTLY IDENTICAL FAILURES FROM AUDI TT OWNERS ON AN INTERNET OWNERS' FORUM(AUDI-TT.ORG). ADDITIONALLY, ANOTHER FORUM (VWVORTEX.COM) RECENTLY DID A SURVEY, AND A SIMILAR NUMBER OF OWNERS REPORTED THE PROBLEM AS WELL. THE VWS IN QUESTION USE THE SAME FRONT WHEEL DRIVE TRANNY THAT IS USED IN THE AUDI TT. SPECIFICALLY, THE PROBLEM IS A PERIODIC GRINDING OF THE 2ND GEAR SYNCHRONIZERS. IF THIS INQUIRY SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO ANOTHER AGENCY RATHER THAN NHTSA, PLEASE FORWARD IT ALONG. HERE IS A PARTIAL LIST OF TT OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM: *AK
THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED AND THE CAR WENT FLYING INTO MY GARAGE DOOR CAUSING DAMAGE. I FOUND THE CAR WITH THE PARKING BRAKE DEPRESSED AND THE ALUMINUM CAP ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR. *AK
PRIOR TO RECALL THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL IN EMERGENCY BRAKING, CAUSING ACCIDENT AND MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE (99V-300). YH

2000 AUDI TT GAUGE CLUSTER PROBLEMS. CUSTOMER STATES PROBLEMS HAVE PROGRESSED SINCE THE FIRST NOTICE OF THE PROBLEM. CUSTOMER STATES THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. **NAR**KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES NO LONGER FUNCTION AND THE MULTI-FUNCTION LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DOES NOT INDICATE READABLE INFORMATION. THE CLUSTER LIGHTING FLICKERS AND THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER GAUGE LIGHTING IS NOT VISIBLE AT NIGHT. THE CONSUMER HAS NO WAY OF KNOWING THE LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER FUNCTION SPORADICALLY. *JB
2000 AUDI TT WITH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THEN BEGAN GETTING WORSE WHICH HAS NOW STARTED AFFECTING THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED HE BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS 3 YEARS AGO AND THE PART WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED. THE FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES NO LONGER FUNCTIONED AND THE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY HAS FAILED AND DOES NOT INDICATE READABLE INFORMATION. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER FUNCTIONED SPORADICALLY. *JB
2000 AUDI TT WITH DEFECTIVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS PROGRESSED CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES NO LONGER FUNCTIONED AND THE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DID NOT INDICATE READABLE INFORMATION. THE CONSUMER STATED AUDI AGREED TO PAY FOR THE COST OF THE PART, BUT NOT THE LABOR. *JB
2000 TT QUATTRO. CONSUMER STATES THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, OR IT WOULD JUST STOP COMPLETELY. THE GAS GAUGE WAS UNRELIABLE AND THE ODOMETER DID NOT REGISTER. *JB
DUE TO A COMPUTER ERROR, ENGINE EXPLODED. DEALER HAS REPLACED ENGINE. CONSUMER DOES NOT KNOW IF COMPUTER HAS BEEN MODIFIED. *AK
PLEASE DISREGARD MY COMPLAINT. I REINSPECTED THE TIRE AND FOUND A WIRE THAT HAD GONE THROUGH THE TIRE. <SIGH>INFORMATION, NO COMPLAIN. *AK
WHEN FILLING GAS TANK UP FUEL GAUGE SHOWED FULL EVEN AFTER THE GAS HAS RUN LOW. DEALER HAS REPLACED FUE LINE TWICE, ALSO, REPLACED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. HOWEVER, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER CONTINUOUSLY HEARS A LOUD NOISE. FRONT CONTROL ARM HAD A CRACK IN IT. CONTINUOUSLY TOOK THE VEHILCE TO THE DEALER. THERE WAS RECALL NUMBER 14512 01 V 325 000. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN REPAIR SHOP SEVERAL TIMES TO ELEVIATE A SCREECHING SOUND FROM SERPENTINE BELT. OTHER PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED ASSOCIATED WITH PERFORMANCE OF BELT. DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. ENGINE PERFORMANCE IS POSSIBLY BEING INHIBITED BY FAILURE. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT THE SOUND WAS COME FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT EITHER AT COLD START OR AFTER CAR WAS RESTARTED. *YH
DUE TO DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT EQUIPMENT AND AIR BAG NON-DEPLOYMENT THE CONSUMER AND HER DAUGHTER WASN'T RESTRAINED UPON IMPACT. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES. INSURANCE COMPANY DIAGNOSED VEHICLE AS A TOTAL LOST. *MR *PH
HYDRAULIC TENSIONER MALFUNCTIONED. THIS CAUSED THE TIMING BELT TO BREAK.*AK
