THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE IS INSERTED INTO DOESN'T HOLD THE BUCKLE ANY LONGER. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT IS NO LONGER USABLE. THE PART IS TO BE REPLACED BY THE LOCAL BMW DEALER (NOT UNDER WARRANTY), WHO WILL HAVE THE OLD PART. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLES TIRES BLEW OUT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. DURING ONE OF THE INCIDENCES, THE VEHICLE HIT A POTHOLE ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 65 MPH BEFORE THE TIRE BLEW OUT. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 35 MPH IN RESIDENTIAL AREA WHEN A POTHOLE CAUSED ANOTHER BLOWOUT. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED MORE THAN NINE TIMES BY AN INDEPENDENT TIRE COMPANY WHO DETERMINED PROBLEMS WERE WITH THE SIDEWALLS. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THAT THE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. THE DEALERS AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO RESOLUTION. UPDATED 7/18/2006 - *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BMW E36. WHILE IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER DID NOT INSPECT THE VEHICLE. APPROXIMATELY EIGHT MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AND WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE ENGINE RPM'S INCREASED TO 750. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 89,950 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING ON CURVY ROADS IT FEELS LIKE RIDING ON A ROUGH ROAD PATCH OR FEELS LIKE BRAKING. DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN FOUND DEFECTIVE TORQUE CONVERTER AND FILTER. NO FAULT IN MEMORY. REMOVED AND EXCHANGED TORQUE CONVERTER. REMOVED TRANSMISSION OIL PAN AND REPLACED TRANSMISSION OIL FILTER AND OIL AND FLUSHED ALL TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES. *TR
2002 BMW 325CI. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ENGINE PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE WOULD STALL, WHEN HE REDUCED HIS SPEED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR THEM TO EXAMINE AND FIX THE ENGINE STALL PROBLEM. HOWEVER, EACH TIME HE VISITED THE DEALER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THREE LIGHT ALLOY WHEELS BENT. EACH INDIVIDUAL TIRE BENT AT DIFFERENT TIMES. DUE TO THIS INCIDENT THE WHEELS STARTED TO VIBRATE WHEN GETTING 30 MPH OR MORE.
THE FUEL LEAKED ALL OVER MY GARAGE AFTER I FILLED IT JUST MINUTES LATER WHEN I GOT HOME. HAD TO CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SO THEY COULD STABILIZE THE AREA TO MAKE IT SAFE. WHAT A HIDEOUS AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND DEADLY FAILURE FOR A CAR TO HAVE!! THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER (WHERE IT WAS FRONT ENDED -AND NO ONE CLAIMED RESPONSIBILITY SO I HAD TO FILE THROUGH MY OWN INSURANCE! WHAT A SCAM! THE DEALERSHIP - PATRICK BMW IN SCHAUMBURG, IL HAD THE FUEL LEAK FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AND SAID THAT THE FUEL PUMP/FUEL LEVELER HAD FAILED SO THEY REPLACED IT. *NM

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BMW 325I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD MALFUNCTION ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V438000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR WINDOW FAILURE (STUCK DOWN). AT DEALER NOW BEING FIXED. ON 11/17/2005; LEFT FRONT DRIVER DOOR WINDOW FAILED STUCK DOWN. REPLACED DOOR REGULATOR. SUN ROOF WINDOW STUCK OPEN; REPLACED WINDOW REGULATOR. UNABLE TO SECURE VEHICLE (2002 BMW 325I - 4 DOOR) DURING TIMES OF FAILURES AND IN CASE OF ACCIDENT PROBABILITY OF EGRESS THROUGH WINDOWS DOUBTFUL. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BMW 325I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN SIGNALS WERE INOPERATIVE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BULBS NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS: 11V438000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS), 11V438000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS) AND 11V438000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL) BUT THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY OF THE MENTIONED RECALLS. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 169,000.
DT: WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET THE CONSUMER NOTICED A SMALL POTHOLE AND THE CONSUMER COULD NOT REMEMBER IF SHE STRUCK THE POTHOLE OR NOT. INSTANTLY, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S AIR BAG AS WELL AS THE SIDE/CURTAIN PASSENGER'S AIRBAG PARTIALLY DEPLOYED. THE CONSUMER WAS ON HER WAY TO THE DEALER WHEN THIS OCCURRED TO TRADE IN ON A NEW VEHICLE AND DECIDED TO JOURNEY TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE AIRBAGS PARTIALLY DEPLOYED. THE CONSUMER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, NO VISIBLE DAMAGE OR IMPACT WAS NOTICED. THE DEALER HAS MADE NO CORRECTIONS. THE DEALER WAS AWAITING AN INSPECTION FROM A BMW REPRESENTATIVE. THIS WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY INCIDENT WITH THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYING. *AK
I HAVE HAD FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED ON MY 2002 BMW 325I. MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 16K MILES. MY FRIEND, WHO ALSO HAS A 2002 BMW 325I, RECENTLY HAD THREE REGULATORS REPLACED. UNFORTUNATELY, HER CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE SHE HAS ALREADY EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE ALLOWANCE FOR THE WARRANTY. THUS, SHE HAD TO PAY A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO HAVE THREE WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED. THIS SPECIFIC PART IS CLEARLY A DEFECT. *NM
T-BONED AN EIGHTEEN WHEELER GOING 55 MPH AFTER HE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME TO MAKE A LEFT-HAND TURN ON A HIGHWAY. THE AIRBAG OF MY BMW 325I FAILED TO DEPLOY RESULTING IN INJURY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2002 BMW 323. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE MAKING A TURN THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN A DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
THE SALESMAN MADE ME SIGN 3 DIFFERENT CONTRACT EACH ONE HAS DIFFERENT AMOUNTS I DONT KNOW IF THEY MADE ME SIGN FOR 3 DIFFERENT CARS OR WHAT. THE VEHICLE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT IT'S BEEN IN VEIN.I WAS PRESSURED INTO SIGNING THE CONTRACTSAND I DONT WHAT THAT CAR
DT: WHEN VEHICLE HAD ONLY 33 MILES EVERY SINGLE DUMMY LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD AND DIED OUT. IT HAD BEEN TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS IN DIFFERENT STATES , AND THEY SAID IT WAS ALWAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. WHILE GOING 65 MPH ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND VEHICLE STOPPED. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND VEHICLE ALMOST HIT SOMEONE. *AK
AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS. BMW PENSACOLA AND CENTURY BMW GREENVILLE, SC HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AFTER MANY VISITS AND $1000. IN REPAIR CHARGES. BMW PENSACOLA SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO AND WOULD NOT REFUND MY CHARGES. CENTURY BMW WANTED ME TO PAY $775. TO TRY TO CHANGE A COMPUTER PART THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WOULD FIX IT. THEY REFUSE TO SAY IF THE AIRBAGS WILL WORK DURING AN ACCIDENT. BMW OF NORTH AMERICA SAYS IT IS A DEALER PROBLEM.
A/C SYSTEM WHEN ENGAGED MADE A LOT OF NOISE. DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN CHECKED AND FOUND NOISE COMING FROM A/C COMPRESSOR. REPLACED COMPRESSOR. *TR
NOTICED THAT LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL IS OUT AT TIMES. DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB AND SOCKET ARE BURNT. FAULT 36 (TURN INDICATOR, FRONT LEFT, FAULTY) IS SET IN FAULT MEMORY. CHECKED LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB AND SOCKET ARE BURNT. REPLACED FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB AND SOCKET. *TR
TIRE REQUIRED CHANGE. USED JACK FOR CAR ON LEVEL SURFACE AS DESCRIBED. JACK FAILED. LUCKILY I HAD A SPARE TIRE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE TO PREVENT AMPUTATION OF MY ARM WHEN JACK FAILED. *TR
PREMATURE WEAR OF RIGHT FRONT STEERING CONTROL ARM. ARM WAS SO WORN AT LESS THAN 30,000 MILES THAT IT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. WEAR SUBSTANTIALLY AFFECTED STEERING RESPONSE AND VEHICLE CONTROL.*AK
A FRIEND SAT IN THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT OF MY CAR AND PULLED THE SEAT BELT OUT - A BIT FURTHER THAN NORMAL, BUT NOT THAT FAR (SHE WEIGHS ABOUT 65KG, SO SHE IS NOT OBESE IN ANY WAY). THE AIR BAG LIGHT SUBSEQUENTLY CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID IT WAS NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY ($510) IN ORDER TO REPAIR. THIS WAS DONE AND THE LIGHT WENT "OFF" ONCE MORE - FOR THREE MONTHS. THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT AS LONG AS THE LIGHT IS ON, THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. I MAINTAIN THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT THAT NEEDS ATTENTION AS IT IMPACTS SAFETY.
I HAVE A 2002 BMW 325CI WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH ABOUT 22000 MILES. MY CAR'S ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE IT WAS MOVING. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT AND ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. IT DIDN'T RESPOND WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS. I HAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE ENGINE BEFORE IT WILL RUN AGAIN. AND THEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND ENGINE OIL LIGHT WENT AWAY. THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED TO MY CAR TWICE. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS ON A FREEWAY AT OVER 65 MPH. I THINK THAT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE PUT MY CAR IN PETER PAN BMW AT SAN MATEO TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. I AM NOT SURE IF THEY CAN FIX IT. I'VE SEEN OTHER PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM ON BIMMER.ORG. I'M REALLY DISAPPOINTED BY BMW'S QUALITY. *JB
THE CONSUMER'S SON WAS CHANGING A FLAT TIRE WHEN THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT JACK BROKE. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE DROPPED, TRAPPING HIS ARM BETWEEN THE WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE. *NM THE PLASTIC PART OF THE JACK BROKE. *TC *JB
THE CONSUMER PULLED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, MADE A LEFT TURN, DROVE A FEW YARDS, STOPPED AGAIN, PROCEEDED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD AT AN ESTIMATE SPEED OF 45 MPH. THE CONSUMER IMMEDIATELY PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO NO AVAIL. THE CONSUMER STRUGGLED TO STEER THE VEHICLE FROM A TWO LANE BUSY STREET. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A GRASSY EMBANKMENT. ALL FOUR TIRES BLEW OUT WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER A FACTORY ENGINEER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, THEY FOUND NO CAUSE FOR THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. *JB.......*AK
JACK COLLAPSED WHILE CHANGING A REAR TIRE, CAUSING INJURY TO CONSUMER'S ARM. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE JACK IS AVAILABLE FOR ANALYSIS. *AK *NM
INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT OF MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS. I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH (DUE TO RAIN) AND MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. TIRE WAS BLOWN OUT AND THERE WAS SOME DAMAGE TO BOTTOM OF CAR FROM DEBRIS, BUT IT IS UNCLEAR IF BLOWOUT AND DEBRIS DAMAGE HAPPENED BEFORE OR AFTER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. EITHER WAY, THERE WAS NO IMPACT WITH ANY OBJECT THAT SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS DEPLOYMENT. MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR NEARLY 4 WEEKS NOW AND IT SHOULD HAVE ONLY NEEDED A TIRE REPLACEMENT. ANY OTHER DAMAGES COULD HAVE BEEN FIXED IN MY OWN TIME, BUT CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE B/C OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND REPAIR COSTS ARE VERY HIGH. *NM
PROBLEMS WITH LEFT REAR WHEEL BEARING AND WINDOW OPERATING MECHANISM. *MR THE A/C WAS NOT COOL ENOUGH IN HOT WEATHER AND THE WIPERS WOULD STREAK THE WINDOWS. *SC *JB
(1) PARKED AT A LIGHT. (2) LIGHT CHANGED, I ACCELERATED, THE ENGINE LOST POWER, VARIOUS DASH WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, I NURSED THE CAR THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, AND PULLED OVER. TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED, DASH WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. AFTER TALKING WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT I REACHED THE CONCLUSION THAT THE CAR WAS DRIVEABLE. WARNING LIGHTS STAYED ON BUT ENGINE POWER WAS BACK AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME. (3) DEALER RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH EXPLAINED THE ENGINE FAILURE AS AN ELECTRICAL FAULT INVOLVING "DEFECTIVE CRIMPING" IN THE THROTTLE MOTOR, RESISTENCE FLUCTUATION DUE TO PIN CONTAMINATION, OR "FAULTY CRIMPING OR DEFECTIVE FEMALE PINS" ON A CONNECTOR. WIRING HARNESS AND THROTTLE MOTOR WERE REPLACED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED,THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM NEEDED REPLACEMENT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
PERIODICALLY, MY CAR WILL BE RUNNING FINE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT STARTS TO SHAKE AND WHEN YOU PUSH THE GAS IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO CUT OFF. USUALLY IT WILL "FIX" ITSELF BY THE TIME I GET TO THE DEALER. BUT EVEN WHEN IT DOESN'T, THEY DON'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT'S BEEN MONTHS SINCE THE BMW REPAIR GUYS SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG AND "RESET" THE ENGINE. HOWEVER IT'S DOING IT AGAIN AND I'M FEARFUL THAT MY CAR IS GOING TO SHUT DOWN ON ME ON A BUSY FREEWAY AND IT'S LESS THAN A YEAR OLD AND ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 20,000 MILES!*AK
MY HUSBAND HAS 2 SETS OF TIRES ONE FOR SUMMER AND ONE FOR WINTER. THE SUMMER TIRES ARE THE ONES WITH THE DEFECT. THE TIRES HAVE ONLY BEEN USED FOR 2 SUMMERS AND THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN A LOT. THE TIRES STILL HAVE ABOUT 60% THREAD ON THEM. RECENTLY WE NOTICED THAT THE TIRES ARE BUBBLED ON THE INSIDE AND PREVIOUSLY ONE CRACKED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I FEEL LIKE THE TIRES SHOULD STILL BE GOOD FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS, BUT WITH THE BUBBLES I'M AFRAID THEY'LL BLOW UP. THE TIRES ARE DUNLOP W10 18" 235/4018. PLEASE HELP, I'VE LOOKED ON THEIR WEBSITE AND THERE IS NOT CONTACT. THE STORE WHERE WE PURCHASE THEM IS CLOSED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH DRIVER RAN OVER PIECES OF DEBRIS ON THE HIGHWAY AND BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS WENT OFF INADVERTENTLY. DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD AND BACK INJURIES , AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. *AK
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS ON. DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN CHECKED FAULT MEMORY AND FOUND CODE 190 O2S FAULT R/R LOWER SPLASH SHIELD R/R VALVE COVER AND INJECTORS. REPLACED SENSOR AND CLEARED FAULT. *TR
PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE'S TIRE EQUIPMENT.*MR THE CONSUMER HAS REPLACED FOUR TIRES BECAUSE OF BLOWOUTS INCURRED WHEN HITTING POTHOLES. (GOODYEAR EAGLE RS-A, HIGH PERFORMANCE TIRES). *NM
MY 2002 BMW 325CI ENGINE STALLED AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO EXIT THE FREEWAY. THE DASH LIGHTS LIT UP AND MY ENGINE SHUTOFF. AS I WAS ROLLING TO A STOP (GOOD THING NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OR BEHIND ME), I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE STARTED BACK UP AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE. I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH STEPTRONIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME A FEW MONTHS BACK WHEN LEAVING A GAS STATION WHERE I NEEDED TO COME TO A STOP AND PRESSED THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. I DIDN'T THINK OF IT AS A PROBLEM THEN BUT COMING OFF THE FREEWAY AT 65MPH TO BRAKING AND THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN NOW THAT'S A PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE, THAT IT TAKE ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS FOR THE GEAR TO ENGAGE FROM PARK OR DRIVE. VEHICLE CAME OFF THE JACK WHEN NORMAL FORCE WAS APPLIED TO PULL THE WHEEL OFF. ALL THE BOLTS HAD BEEN REMOVED. VEHICLE WAS JACKED UP WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE WHEEL REMAINED ON THE VEHICLE WHICH PREVENTED IT FROM FALLING ON THE CONSUMER. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT BEGAN APPEARING IN NOVEMBER 2003. I BROUGHT MY CAR IN THE FIRST TIME AND GLOBAL IMPORTS IN ATLANTA GA INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. AGAIN, IN LATE DECEMBER 2003, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. ON 1/6/2004, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO GLOBAL IMPORTS. THEY INFORMED ME A VALVE WAS REPLACED AND I WAS ON MY WAY. TWO DAYS LATER ON 1/8/04, WHILE DRIVING DOWN GA 40 AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON ME. LITERALLY, THE WHEELS WOULD NOT TURN AS I STRUGGLED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I SWERVED IN AND OUT OF LANES. IT WAS FORTUNATE MYSELF OR OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY WERE NOT INJURED. WHEN MY VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD NOT MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE MOVED AT ONLY 2 MPH WITH A LOUD, UNPLEASANT NOISE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNALS AT ALL TO ALERT ME OF AN UPCOMING MALFUNCTION. BMW ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE RESPONDED WITH A TOW TRUCK TO ASSIST ME A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR LATER. I WAS TOWED INTO GLOBAL IMPORTS. THE CAR IS STILL PRESENTLY THERE AS I AWAIT A NEW DIFFERENTIAL. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED AS A NEW VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY OF 2003 FROM BRIAN HARRIS BMW IN BATON ROUGE, LA. THE CAR PRESENTLY HAS 17,000 MILES. LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD! *AK
IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS TWO CONTINENTAL TIRES WERE DAMAGED BY NAILS. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPAIRABLE. THE CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP ACCOUNT MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THE ROADS IN THE US ARE NOT AS CLEAN AS THEY ARE IN EUROPE AND LOW PROFILE TIRES ON LUXURY CARS WILL ALWAYS BE PRONE TO PUNCTURE OR RUPTURE BY SHARP OBJECTS. CONSUMERS NEED TO BE INFORMED OF THIS RISK BY THE "LUXURY" CAR DEALERS AND THE TIRE VENDORS. IN TERMS OF THE STATE OF THE ROADS IN THE US COMPARED TO EUROPE AND THE DEPRIS OF NAILS AND SHARP OBJECTS ON OUR ROADS, I THINK THIS STATMENT IS OFFENSIVE AND THE TIRE VENDORS ARE JUST NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. IS THERE A RATING SYSTEM FOR MEASURING THE SAFETY OF OUR ROADS AT AN INTERNATIONAL LEVEL? IS SO, HOW DO OUR ROADS COMPARE TO THOSE OF EUROPE AND HOW DO LUXURY CARS HANDLE SAFETY CONDITIONS ON OUR ROADS. THANK YOU. *AK

A/C BLOWS EXTREMELY HOT WHEN SET ON MAXIMUM COOLING POWER ABOUT 40% OF THE TIME (INTERMITTENTLY). PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE INHERENT IN THE MODEL...BMW SAYS IF THEY CANT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT A SERVICE CENTER IN FRONT OF A TECHNICIAN, THEN IT MUST NOT EXIST. *JB

SEAN HAGGARD OF BMW OF NORTH AMERICA REGARDING THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING ON THREE OCCASIONS. *PH THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO OCCASION TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. FROM DAY ONE , I ALREADY EXPERIECED A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR, AT FIRST THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERING, SHELLY BMW TOOK CARE OF IT FOR OVER A WEEK , THEY SAID THERE IS A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT THEY HAD TO CHANGE THE COMPUTER, AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS, THE ALARM GOES OFF WHILE DRIVING ,I TOOK THE CAR TO CUNNINGHAM BMW BECAUSE I LIVEDHERE IN SAN DIEGO IT TOOK THEM ALMOST A WEEK BUT THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM THEY'RE SAYING THAT THEYNEED MORE TIME TO FIGURE WHAT REALLY THE PROBLEM AND WHAT CAUSING THE ALARM SIREN GOES OFF WHILE DRIVING .I TOOK IT TO DIFFERENT BMW DEALER TO SAN DIEGO BMW, AFTER TWO DAYS SAME PROBLEM OCCURED ALARM SIREN GOES OFF EVERY 4 MINUTES OF DRIVING. NEXT PROBLEM IS THE BRAKE LIGHT COMNES ON , THEY CHANGED THE BRAKEPAD AND ROTOR, THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR THREE , THEN A DAY AFTER THE DSC LIGHT COMES ON , THE EML LIGHT COMES ON , THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE CAR HAVE NO POWER NOT RESPONDING, ITS FEEL LIKE THERES SOME BLOCKING ON THE WHEEL WHEN I ACCELERATE, SO I TOOK IT AGAIN TO THE DEALER , THEY KEPT IT FOR THREE DAYS, THE DAY AFTER THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON STEADY . I AM VERY FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS CAR AND YET IT'S NOT EVEN A YEAR SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR. PRESENTLY THE CAR HAS 34,000 MILAGE.IT HAS 20,000 MILAGE WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT.
BMW 325 CI: I HAVE EXPERIENCED SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY 325CI BMW, I BOUGHT THE CAR IN NOVEMBER, THE CAR IS NOT EVEN 1 YEAR OLD AND I HAVE TAKEN TO SERVICE FOUR TIMES ALREADY. MY CAR IS A 2002 AND AT THIS MOMENT IT HAS 10,660 MILES. THE CAR HAS A MAJOR COMPUTER PROBLEM. MY ABS SEEMS TO BE MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL AS MY EMERGENCY BRAKE, AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPROGRAMED AND PIECES ARE COMING OFF IN THE INSIDE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO SERVICE THE PAST THREE WEEKS FOR THE THE COMPUTER AND THE BODY. LUCKY BMW DOES HAVE GREAT SERVICE AND I HAVENT HAD TO PAY FOR A SINGLE REPAIR. BUT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO FILE A LEMON LAW ON THE CAR BECAUSE I KNOW THE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR WILL NEVER STOP.
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE REAR LEFT TIRE BLEW OUT WITHOUT WARNING, ROAD HAZARD CAUSE. *AK *SCC *JB
BMW, R1150R, 2002; THE CONSUMER STATED UPON COLD START, THE MOTORCYCLE LEAKED 2 OUNCES OF FUEL ONTO THE EXHAUST. THE DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE O RINGS ON QUICK DISCONNECT FUEL LINES. *AK *CB *JB
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE-95 IN NEW YORK I FELT A VIBRATION START IN THE BACK OF THE CAR WHICH GREW VERY QUICKLY. I PULLED OVER TO FIND THE RIGHT REAR TIRE FLAT. I FOUND THE TIRE HAD A SLIT IN THE SIDE WALL HALF WAY AROUND THE TIRE WITH A GAP BETWEEN THE TREAD AND THE BODY CORE OF THE TIRE. IT APPEARS THAT THE TREAD STARTED TO SEPARATE FORM THE TIRE. I CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURES REGULARLY AND KEEP THEM AT THE MANUFACTURES RECOMMENDED PRESSURES. *JB
