I WAS AT THE STORE WHEN THE CAR LOCKS JAMMED. THE ONLY WAY TO GET INTO THE CAR WAS BY MANUALLY USING THE KEY. THE KEY FOB WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE REAL ISSUE WAS THAT THE ONLY DOOR THAT COULD BE OPENED WAS THE DRIVERS SIDE USING THE MANUAL KEY. ALL THE OTHERS WERE JAMMED SHUT. THERE WOULD BE NO WAY FOR THOSE DOORS TO BE OPENED IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE. ITS ATTRIBUTED TO A FAULTY DESIGN. SEE THREADS AND YOUTUBE VIDEO. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 10 MPH IN TRAFFIC ON FRIDAY, OCT. 31, 2008, AT 5 P.M., IN HOUSTON,WHEN MY 2006 BMW 325I BEGAN SMOKING IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND BURST INTO FLAMES BY THE TIME I GOT IT PARKED. I FIRST NOTICED THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND THEN SMOKE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN FILLING THE CAR. THE CAR WAS TOTALED BY THE TIME THE HFD ARRIVED. THE CAR WAS IN GOOD CONDITION AND HAD NO RECENT SERVICE OR PROBLEMS. IT HAD NO PREVIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE AC JUST BEGAN BLOWING WARM AIR, AND SMOKE STARTED POURING INTO THE COMPARTMENT FROM ABOVE AND BELOW THE DASHBOARD - NOT FROM THE AC. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE UNTIL IT BURST INTO FLAMES. IT HAD TO BE A MECHANICAL DEFECT OR AN ELECTRICAL SHORT OF SOME KIND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 330I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS NOT OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
FOR NO REASON ONE DAY, MY DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON DOES NOT WORK AND I AM NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR BY PULLING ON THE DOOR HANDLE. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR IS TO USE THE KEY AND OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS ONLY WORKS FOR THE DRIVER DOOR, AND YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO OPEN ANY OF THE REMAINING DOORS. THIS COULD BE A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY IF THE CAR IS IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH PEOPLE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT. THE FAILURE HAS BEEN CONSISTENT AND IS NOT INTERMITTENT AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED FOR ALL CARS ON THE ROAD, SINCE PEOPLE COULD DIE. THE ONLY WAY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE TO CLIMB OUT OF THE WINDOWS. THE CAR EFFECTED IS 2006 BMW 325I. *TR
FAILURE OF SRS SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM WHICH DEACTIVATES PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE PASSENGER IS NO LONGER PROTECTED. FAILURE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANT. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED 2011 AND DEALER AND BMW MANUFACTURER WILL NOT REPAIR AS VEHICLE FALLS OUTSIDE THEIR RECALL VINS. THIS PROBLEM IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY PROBLEM AND ONE IN WHICH THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS IS A PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I DRIVE A 2006 BMW 330XI WITH THE OEM BRIDGESTONE TURANAZA RUNFLAT TIRES. FROM 2006 TO TODAY I HAVE REPLACED ALL 4 OF MY TIRES AND RIMS TWICE AND STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES BEING TO ROUGH ON NEW YORK CITY ROADS WHICH MEANS IT JUST CRACKING AND BENDING EACH AND EVERY RIM ON MY CAR OVER TIME. NOW THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES BEING TO ROUGH AND LACK OF CONTROL WITH THERE TIRES LEAD TO ANOTHER PROBLEM SOMETHING IN MY STEERING RACK HAS CRACKED. BMW NOT WANTING TO TELL ME WHAT PART OF THE STEERING RACK WAS BROKEN ALL THEY TOLD ME WAS IT WILL COST 3000 DOLLARS AND I COULDN'T PAY IT IN MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS, I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO ALERT THEM OF MY SITUATION FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR BUT THEY DO NOT TAKE ME SERIOUSLY SINCE I AM ONLY 22 YEARS OLD AND TAKE ME FOR A FOOL. AS OF YESTERDAY ALSO MY LOCK ACTUATORS WHICH IS THE PART OF THE CAR THAT ALLOWS YOUR ALARM TO UNLOCK YOUR DOORS ARE FROZEN AND WILL NOT UNLOCK ANY OTHER DOORS EXPECT THE DRIVER BY USING THE MANUAL KEY. FOR THE IM PAYING EVERYMONTH BMW IS NOT DIVING ME THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE, I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAR TO ANYONE SOUL IN THE NEW YORK AND I AM LOOKING TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION FOR MY RIGHTS AGAINST THE LACK OR QUALITY AND SAFETY THEY HAVE PUT ME IN OVER THE LACK YEAR. *TR
BMW 325XI DOES NOT PROVIDE A MANUAL DOOR LOCKING OVERRIDE FOR THEIR CARS. THIS LACK OF DESIGN MAKES THEIR CAR A TRAP FOR ALL PASSENGERS WHEN ELECTRONIC SYSTEM FAILS. ONE YEAR AFTER PURCHASING A CAR ( NEW ) BMW 325XI, THE DOORS AND WINDOW SYSTEM FAILED IN VERY DANGEROUS WAY. WITH MY BABY AND MY WIFE ON THE BACK SIT, WHEN I TRY TO EXIT THE CAR THE DOOR SYSTEM START SHUTTING DOWN, THE DOORS AND WINDOW SYSTEM JUST WOULD NOT OPEN. THE ONLY ONE THAT OPEN WAS THE DRIVER SIDE ONE. AFTER THIS INCIDENT IT HAPPENED THREE MORE TIME. ONCE ALL FOUR DOORS LOCKED AND I HAD TO LEAN OUT THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE MANUAL KEY. THE LATEST ONE WAS WITH MY 7 MONTH PREGNANT WIFE CLIMBING OUT OF THE CAR THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE CAR. ONCE I PULLED UP THE DOOR KNOB WITH A PLIER, BUT THE DOOR STILL LOCKED.MY COMPLAINT IS NOT THAT I NEED TO FIX THE CAR, BUT THE FACT THAT THIS CAR DOES NOT PROVIDE A MANUAL OVERRIDE TO OPEN THE DOOR IN CASE THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM FAILS. BASICALLY ALL PASSENGER CAN BE TRAPPED IN THE CAR AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO ESCAPE IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW SI (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE DOORS WERE DAMAGED. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. AN OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE WAS INJURED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 20,700.
I WAS INSIDE MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE SWITCH ON THE DASH WOULD UNLOCK THE DOORS NOR WOULD THE REMOTE. THE DOOR HANDLES INSIDE THE CAR WOULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR EITHER. LUCKILY I REMEMBERED THAT IF I HELD DOWN ON ONE OF THE BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE CONTROL THE WINDOWS WOULD OPEN. I THEN HAD TO CLIMB OUT OF THE WINDOW. THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE CAR WAS MORE THAN 100 DEGREES. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. IF I HAD NOT HAD THE REMOTE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR! *TR
MY 2006 3 SERIES BMW WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL CRASH AND THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AT A SPEED OF 30-35 PLUS WITH A FULL IMPACT. I HAVE SEVERE INJURIES IN THE SHOULDER AND NECK AREA AND HAVE BEEN HAVING BAD MIGRANE HEADACHES AND ALSO INSOMNIA. *TR
FAULTY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR MAT ALWAYS BREAKS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 3 SERIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO DISPLAY "AIR BAG OFF" WHEN AN OCCUPANT WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE DEALER INITIALLY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE BMW MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V384000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL). THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REFRAIN FROM ALLOWING OCCUPANTS TO SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I WAS TOLD BY BMW THAT EVEN THOUGHT MY PASSENGER AIRGBAG HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS, I NEED TO WAIT TILL SEPTEMBER TO GET IT FIXED. *TR
BMW 330I 2006, PASSENGER AIRBAG INJURED 18YR OLD ON FACE - BURNED, LACERATED FACE AND FX NOSE. LEFT EYE, AFFECTED WITH EXTREME SWELLING. VICTIM TRAUMATIZED AND HAVING BLURRED VISION ON LEFT EYE. A TIRE STRUCK BUMPER WHILE DRIVING IN FWY AND DRIVER HIT THE BRAKES AND AIRBAGS CAME OUT. THE GIRL WAS LEFT AS IF A MAJOR CAR CRASH HAD OCCURRED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE MAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V384000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE LOCKS FAILED TO UNLOCK IN 2007. ALL OF THE LOCKS ARE ELECTRONIC AND THERE IS A MASTER UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO DRIVE TO THE SERVICE DEALER IN ORDER TO BE LET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAD TO RESET THE COMPUTER CHIP IN THE LOCKS. ON MARCH 22, 2008, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE DOOR LOCKS. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPLACEMENT, THE ELECTRIC MIRRORS FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MOTOR FAILED SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE DEALER PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A NEW VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 38,000.
ENGINE BOLTS HAVE SHEERED OFF AT THREE DIFFERENT MILEAGES: 71,369, 115,162 AND 134,835. ALL TIMES THEY HAVE CREATED OIL LEAKS AND POSSIBLE ENGINE OVERHEATING. ALSO THE SHEERED BOLTS COULD OF GOTTEN LODGED IN THE DRIVE BELT CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING (ALTHOUGH LUCKILY DID NOT HAPPEN). ALL SHEERED BOLTS COST UPWARDS OF $1000 PER REPAIR TO REPLACE. *TR
MY WIFE DRIVES A 2006 BMW 325XI SPORT WAGON. THE CAR CAME EQUIPPED WITH BRIDGESTON TOURANZA E42 RUNFLAT TIRES. DUE TO RAPID TREAD WEARING, ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP AT 15000 MILES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH THE SAME BRAND AND MODEL "TOURANZA E42". WITH APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES ON THESE TIRES, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME WEAR PROBLEMS. THE CAR DRIVES VERY LOUD, AND DOESN'T SEEM STABLE. BMW REFUSES TO TAKE ANY FURTHER ACTION, CLAIMING IT IS THE CONSUMER'S PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS "ACKNOWLEDGED" OTHER BMW DRIVER COMPLAINTS WITH THE BRIDGESTON TOURANZA E42. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 3 SERIES WITH A MALFUNCTIONING AIR BAG INDICATOR SYSTEM. THIS VEHICLE SERIES WAS RECALLED UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA08001. I HAVE CONTACTED BMW NORTH AMERICA TWICE AND THEY WILL NOT CONFIRM THAT I AM IN THE RECALL BUT EACH TIME ASK ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE ISSUE REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE. THE SEAT BELT AND AIRBAG LIGHT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE "AIRBAG IS NOT ACTIVE" IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS ALWAYS ON WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. THIS MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS. BMW NA ALSO CLAIMS NOT TO HAVE A VIN NUMBER LIST THAT THEY HAVE IN THEIR POSSESSION, ALTHOUGH THEY DO SAY RECALL NOTICES ARE BEING SENT OUT. THIS SEEMS RATHER ODD IF THEY ARE SENDING OUT RECALLS FOR VIN NUMBERS THAT THEY DON'T KNOW ARE BEING RECALLED. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE PASSENGERS AND CANNOT SEEM TO GET BMW TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE NHTSA RECALL OR THE VEHICLE. *TR
WE HAD BOUGHT A 2006 BMW MODEL # 325I, THE VEHICLE HAD 33,000 MILES ON IT. NOW THIS CAR HAS A HEAD CYLINDER LEAKAGE ON IT AND THE DEALER NEEDED TO REPLACE AN ENGINE ON IT. THE FACT IS THAT THIS CAR WAS LESS THEN 2 YRS, AND WE HAD SUCH A MAJOR ISSUE ALREADY. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325I. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS (12/25/2007 AND 02/22/2008), WHILE DECELERATING TO 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DID NOT REPORT THE FIRST FAILURE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER THE SECOND TIME. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,500.
I OWN A 2006 BMW 325I WITH OEM BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL42 RUN FLAT TIRES. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN MAKING A LOUD NOISE FOR QUITE SOME TIME WITH 18K MILES ON THEM. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALER FOR MY FIRST 15K MILE SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THE TIRE WAS NOT WEARING PROPERLY AND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THAT MODEL TIRE. THE DEALER WAS ONLY WILLING TO PAY FOR 2 NEW TIRES. IF THE TIRE HAS A PROBLEM I FEEL IT IS FAIR TO GET 4 OF THEM REPLACED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND A RECALL ON THIS TIRE BUT I FELT LIKE IT DESERVED TO BE INVESTIGATED BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS THAT ARE POSTED ON VARIOUS WEBSITES. AFTER 6,000 MILES ON THE NEW TIRES I NOTICE THAT THE FRONT TIRES ARE SHOWING EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TEAR AND I AM GOING TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. I BELIEVE THESE BRIDGESTOME TURANZA EL42 RUN FLAT TIRES HAVE SERIOUS MANUFACTURING PROBLEMS AND NEITHER BMW OR BRIDGESTONE WOULD ADMIT IT. I THINK THIS MODEL TIRE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE WE BUYERS HAVE TO REPLACE THESE EVERY 6,000 MILES ARE SO. BMW SHOULD OWN UP TO THE PROBLEM WITH THESE TIRES AND REPLACE THEM WITH BETTER TIRES AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. GIVEN THE PRICE OF THESE CARS DEALING WITH TIRE ISSUES EVERY SIX MONTHS IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325I. THE CONTACT STATED THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE, CAUSING SOMEONE TO BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE TO BE THAT THE FUSES ARE BLOWING OUT CAUSING THE ELECTRONIC LOCKS TO MALFUNCTION.THIS HAD BEEN THE SECOND TIME HE CONTACT HAD BEEN TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18885 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60000.
STEERING WHEEL LOCK JAM LIGHT CAME ON IN THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO RESET IT. HAPPENED AGAIN ON FEBRUARY 15 AND THIS TIME IT WILL NOT RESET. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A SMALL STREET, CAR LOST ACCELERATION, AND WOULD MOVE ONLY SLOWLY EVEN WHEN GAS PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY. THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE ONTO AN INCLINED DRIVEWAY BECAUSE OF LACK OF POWER, THUS CAUSING THE CAR TO ROLL BACK AND HIT A ROW OF MAILBOXES. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON A FREEWAY, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE DAMAGE TO PEOPLE AND PROPERTY. BMW ONLY OFFERED EXPLANATION OF "SENSOR" FAILURE AND WOULD NOT EXPLAIN MORE, FOR FEAR OF COMPLAINTS. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE DEPRESSES THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL BECOMES STUCK AT LOW SPEEDS. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURS WHEN STOPPING OR PARKING. THE PEDAL RELEASES SUDDENLY INSTEAD OF GRADUALLY AND OCCURS EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 15,522. THE CONSUMER STATED HE SENT DOCUMENTS AND ATTACHMENTS ALONG WITH THE QUESTIONNAIRE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO FIND THEM ON THE WEBSITE. UPDATED 10/10/07. *JB

I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO BMW FOR 20,000 MILES ABOUT NOISY TIRES. THEY KEPT TELLING ME THAT IT NEEDS ROTATION AND DID SO. THERE WAS ALOT OF ROAD NOISE COMING FROM THE TIRES AND BMW DID NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY. THEN MY HUSBAND GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT (JUST A FENDER BENDER) ON SEPT 8 OR 9TH OF 2007 WHEN THE TIRES WERE MAKING ALOT OF NOISE AND HIT A CEMENT POLE. INSURANCE COMPANY TOLD US THERE IS A DEFECTIVE PROBLEM IN THE CAR REGARDING THE "TOE ADJUSTMENT" AND TO WHY THE TIRES ARE WORN SOOO BADLY. IT IS A CHASIS PROBLEM AND NOT A TIRE PROBLEM. THE FRONT 2 TIRES WERE ON THE VERGE OF A BLOWOUT. I HAVE CONTACTED BMW AND HAVE FAILED TO COMPLY AND SAID I HAVE TO PAY FOR NEW TIRES AND ALIGNMENT. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE WHILE I WAS RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET. BMW NEEDS TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND REPLACE MY TIRES AND FIX THE PROBLEM IN TOE ADJUSTMENT. *TR

FUSE BLOWN AND DEFECTIVE FRONT DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY LED TO DOOR LOCKS REMAINING ENGAGED. OPENED THE DRIVER DOOR WITH THE METAL KEY. DOORS WERE NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED BY USING THE INSIDE HANDLES. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN A CRASH, THE OCCUPANTS WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 BMW M3 CONVERTIBLE WITH THE TOP DOWN AND SECURED ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE REAR BOOT COVER WHICH STORES THE CONVERTIBLE ROOF OPENS ON IT'S OWN AND SLAMS AGAINST THE ROOF, WHICH I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE THUMP AND AIR RESISTANCE ALMOST CAUSED ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY. THE COMPLETE CONVERTIBLE MECHANISM WAS NOT FUNCTIONING AFTER THIS EVENT, AND I BROUGHT IT TO THE NEAREST BMW DEALERSHIP WHICH IS WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE TO BEGIN WITH. AFTER A DAY OR SO, I WAS TOLD I HAD TO COME TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME BECAUSE THEY HAD TO HAVE A FACTORY REP INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD TAKE UP TO A FEW WEEKS. NOT UNTIL I CALLED BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS, DID THEY SAY IT WAS A MISTAKE BY THE TECHNICIAN AND THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND GET A RENTAL CAR. ON AUG 3, 2007 A LITTLE OVER A WEEK FROM THE EVENT, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THIS REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, AND DID NOT STATE WHY? I BEGAN TO MENTION HOW I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE, AND IT WAS AN OBVIOUS MALFUNCTION, AND I INSISTED THEY SEND ME DOCUMENTATION WHICH STATED WHY THEY DID NOT BELIEVE THE VEHICLE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SERVICE MANAGER CONTINUED TO WAFFLE BACK AND FORTH, AND DID NOT SEND ME THE PROPER PAPERWORK BUT SAID HE WOULD CONTACT ME BY THE END OF DAY OR THE FOLLOWING MONDAY BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER FACTORY REP TAKE A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. *JB

2006 BMW 325I, VIN #[XXX]. BEGINNING IN 2007 THE SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG HAS BEEN OFF, REGARDLESS OF THE WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER. CURRENT RECALL STATES THAT MY MODEL VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED FOR THE RECALL OF THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG SEAT SENSOR MAT, BUT IF IT WENT OUT AFTER ONLY ONE YEAR IT WOULD APPEAR THAT IT, TOO, IS DEFECTIVE. I CALLED BMW CONSUMER AFFAIRS, AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT BRIDGESTONE FOR A RESOLUTION OF THIS PROBLEM. LATER, ON THE WEB I FOUND BMW TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN SIB 36 06 06 WHICH ADDRESSED THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM. TWICE IN 6 WEEKS I HAVE LOST THROTTLE RESPONSE OF THE CAR AT 70+ MPH ON HIGHWAYS. I OWN A 2006 BMW 325I WITH OEM BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL42 RUN FLAT TIRES. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN MAKING A LOUD NOISE FOR QUITE SOME TIME WITH 19K MILES ON THEM. BMW 325I HAS AN ACCELERATION DELAY PROBLEM. WHEN THE DRIVER DEMANDS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ACCELERATION, THE CAR HESITATES ANYWHERE FROM 1.5 TO 3 SECONDS. EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR ON 2006 BMW 330I. FIRESTONE SAYS THAT THE CUPPING OF THE TIRES (STARTING AT ABOUT 8K MILES) CAUSES LESS TRACTION ON THE ROAD AND WILL GET WORSE. THE TIRES STARTED TO MAKE LOAD NOISE AT ABOUT 8K MILES AND THEY NOW HAVE 13K MILES ON THEM AND THE NOISE LEVEL IS VERY BAD. I HAVE CONTACTED BMW SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SAY THAT THEY WILL CONSIDER REPLACING THE TIRES ONLY IF I WILL AGREE TO PAY HALF OF THE COST(ABOUT $600 MY COST FOR 4 TIRES). I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ONLY WITH THIS BRAND AND TYPE OF TIRE AND FIRESTONE NEEDS TO REPLACE THE TIRES. THE TIRES IN QUESTION ARE BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL42, SIZE 205/55/R16 RUN FLATS. IN MAY 2006, I LEASED A NEW 2006 BMW 325I WITH THE SPORT PACKAGE FROM DON JACOBS BMW IN LEXINGTON, KY. THIS PACKAGE IS COMPRISED OF 17" TIRES THAT ARE BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RFT. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 11,990 MILES ON IT, THE TIRES ARE WORN OUT, EXTREMELY LOUD AND WILL NOT GO IN THE SNOW. ALSO, BMW INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR HAS A STABILITY CONTROL SENSOR THAT IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND WILL CAUSE THE CAR TO OVERCORRECT ITSELF AND POSSIBLY CAUSE THE CAR TO SWERVE WITHOUT WARNING. HOWEVER, THE BMW DEALER SENT ME HOME (120 MILES) IN THIS VEHICLE THE SAME DAY THEY DIAGNOSED IT. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY CAR IS NOT SAFE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL AND SUN ROOF WERE BOTH CAUSED BY ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE SPEED AND THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE NOT FACTORS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 15,000 ,AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. *AK

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ASSISTED IN REPAIRS DUE TO A WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
