I have been having issues , not sure what the problem is but the car doesn’t seem like it’s getting proper gas , & it shakes when I drive . I had to park it in the garage after having it towed home due to an unknown issue .
When driving any acceleration will cause the car to shift from Drive to Neutral. This can happen under normal driving conditions and at any speed.
FOUND FAULTS FOR VANOS SYSTEM. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND CAR START MAKING A RATTLE NOISE LIKE SOMETHING BUCKING AGAINST SOMETHING AS I ACCELERATED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BMW 528I. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,000.
THE CAR LUNGES/JERKS AT RANDOM TIMES DURING STARTUP. IT DOES THIS WHETHER THE CAR IS COLD, HOT AND AT RANDOM TIMES DURING THE DAY OR EVENING. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN THIS OCCURS. ENGINE MOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT IF IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. THE DEALER CANNOT IDENTITY THE PROBLEM. AT TIMES THE JERK IS BARELY NOTICEABLE BUT OTHER TIMES THE JERK IS HARSH AND I FEAR THE THE CAR WILL MOVE FORWARD WHILE PARKED.
WHILE ACCELERATING THE CAR JUMPS INTO NEUTRAL RANDOMLY. WHETHER FROM A SLOW START OR ACCELERATING ON A HIGHWAY. IT HAS HAPPENED DOZENS OF TIMES AND THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO FIX.
WHEN DRIVING FREEWAY OR STREET, TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONS CAUSING IT TO DROP INTO A LOW GEAR AND REDUCE SPEED SIGNIFICANTLY. THERE IS NO MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE ON THE TRANSMISSION. UNFORTUNATELY WILL NEED REPLACEMENT AT 8 YRS & 90K ON ODOMETER. BMW SHOULD RECALL AND FIX.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN HOSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE HOSES WERE REPLACED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V746000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,298.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BMW 550I GRAN TURISMO. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER TRAIN SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVE TRAIN SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER THE MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: N63 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,500.
LOST OF POWER WHILE DRIVING, 2 INCIDENT: BAD VIBRATIONS WHILE AT A IDLE.
WHILE DRIVING, ALL OF A SUDDEN, IT COMES TO NEUTRAL AND ENGINE RPM GOES TO AROUND 4000 AND TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONING SIGN COMES. I HAVE TO PULLOVER AND RESTART THE ENGINE. AFTER THAT IT RUNS SMOOTH. IT HAPPENS ONCE A WHILE. IN LAST TWO MONTHS IT HAPPENED SIX TIMES. TWO TIMES I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND HARDLY SURVIVED FROM THE ACCIDENTS. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN.
WHILE DRIVING CAR BEGAN SLUGGISH AND THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS SLIPPING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE #2 AND #5 ENGINE COILS. I REPLACED THOSE. TWO WEEKS LATER SAME PROBLEM ENGINE COIL #2 HAD TO BE REPLACED. TWO MONTHS LATER SAME PROBLEM - ENGINE COILS #1, #2, AND #5 HAD TO BE REPLACED. NO EXPLANATION FOR THE CONTINUED PROBLEM. THEIR ONLY SUGGESTION IS TO HAVE THEM ALL REPLACED. SEEMS LIKE THERE'S A BIGGER PROBLEM HERE. *TR
EXPERIENCING HARD BUMP WHEN BRAKING, HARD SHIFTS IN SPORT MODE, SLOW TO ENGAGE IN REVERSE AND HUNTING FOR THE RIGHT GEAR WHEN COASTING. THIS DELAYED AND JERKY RESPONSE PRESENTS A SEVERE DRIVING RISK AND DANGER AS THE VEHICLE BEHAVIOR IS UNPREDICTABLE AND INCONSISTENT. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED, SHUT OFF, AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. FURTHERMORE, THE CONTACT'S WIFE SMELLED A FUEL ODOR EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V746000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BMW OF MACON (4785 RIVERSIDE DR, MACON, GA 31210, 478-757-7000). THE DEALER PROVIDED A COST ESTIMATE OF $6,000 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BY MAIL WHEN THE CONTACT SENT A COPY OF THE RECALL NOTICE HE RECEIVED. THE MANUFACTURER SENT THE RECALL LETTER BACK TO THE CONTACT AND STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT INFORMATION THEY REQUESTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
