DRIVING FROM WORK AN MY CAR JUST STARTED LOSING POWER I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AN BATTERY AN THE CAR DID THE SAME THING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BMW 745LI. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BMW OF RIVERSIDE (3060 ADAMS ST, RIVERSIDE, CA 92504, 1 (951) 373-5000) TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V328000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). SHORTLY AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCHES FAILED TO LOCK AND WERE UNSECURED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED AFTER SERVICING THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE LATCH REPLACEMENT WAS SEPARATE FROM THE RECALL REPAIR AND THAT BOTH LATCHES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY REPLACED BOTH LATCHES; HOWEVER, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH STILL FAILED. THE OTHER THREE DOOR LATCHES WORKED PROPERLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,423.

THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER FOR APPROXIMATELY FOUR MONTHS AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE MATTER HAD NOT BEEN SETTLED. THE COOLANT SYSTEMS FAILED .AND WITH RESEARCH I WAS ABLE TO DISCOVER A STEADY PROBLEM FOR THESE MODELS.
AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR GOES INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN DIES, AFTER ABOUT 5 MIN WAS ABLE TO START AND THEN AS DRIVING 45 MLS PER HOUR THE CAR AGAIN GOES INTO NEUTRAL AND DIES, LEAVING NO CONTROL OF STEERING AND CARS ZOOMING BY ALMOST HIT WITH CHILDREN IN CAR, READ UP ON THIS PROBLEM AND NHTSA HAS LOOKED INTO THIS IN 2012 BUT STILL NO FIX, WHY NO RECALL, THIS IS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND BMW IS NOT TAKING RESPONSABILITY OVER 500 COMPLAINTS AND AFFECTS 122K CARS FROM 02-08 PLEASE HELP
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BMW 745LI. AFTER INSERTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD IMMEDIATELY SWITCH TO THE PARK OR NEUTRAL POSITION. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAS MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A BRIDGE THROUGH THE RAILING AND INTO A POLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
TOOK THE BMW 745LI IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SLOW TO START CRANKING AND SECOND OPINION. ALSO WANTED THE DEALERSHIP TO REVIEW AIRBAG LIGHT AND DSC. UPON REVIEW BY THE DEALERSHIP, ALL FOUR DOOR TAGS AND SZL (COMFORT ACCESS) IS CAUSING BATTERY DRAIN AND MUST BE REPLACED. ALSO WAS QUOTED THAT THE CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND A FUEL LINE LEAK IS PRESENT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH A MANAGER, IT WAS DECIDED THAT THEY WERE NOT SURE IF THE DOOR TAGS AND SZL WOULD ASSIST WITH CLEARING THE SLOW CRANK. I OPTED THE SERVICE FROM THAT DEALER AND DECIDED TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 5 MILES, I REALIZED THAT THE CAR REEKED OF GAS. THIS WAS NOT AN APPARENT ISSUE WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP HAS CAUSED MORE HARDSHIP THAN ASSISTANCE. *TR
I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SLOW TO CRANK. I HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND IT WAS FINE. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED I NEEDED A FUEL PUMP. IT WAS REPAIRED. TWO DAYS LATER, I AM DRIVING THE 745LI BMW UP AN INCLINED HIGHWAY MERGING ONTO A BRIDGE WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED JERKING, LOOSING POWER, CUTTING BACK AND DECELERATING UNTIL IT SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. I WAS UNABLE TO CRANK IT OR EVEN MOVE OFF THE HIGHWAY TO A SAFE LOCATION. THE CAR TOTALLY STALLED ON THE BRIDGE. WHEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. HOWEVER A FEW DAYS LATER THE CAR STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO CLAIMS IT WAS OUT OF GAS. THE DEALER PUTS GAS IN IT. THE NEXT DAY, THE CAR STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE FUEL GUAGE WAS NOT READING PROPERLY AND REPLACED THE SENSORS. THE CAR IS STILL SLOW TO CRANK, WHICH IS THE INTIAL PROBLEM FROM DAY ONE. STILL NOT REPAIRED, $3,000.00 LATER. *TR
MY VEHICLE STALLS IN TRAFFIC AND ONCE IT CUTS OFF THERE IS NO WAY TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. A POLICE TRIED TO HELP ME OUT AND TOLD ME THAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I KEEP HAVING THIS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS ONCE IT CUTS OFF THERE'S NO WAY FOR ME TO STEER OFF OF THE ROAD. IT'S FRIGHTENING. *TR
MY CAR WAS DUE FOR STATE INSPECTION AND I TOOK IT INTO RICHMOND BMW IN MIDLOTHIAN VA. THE TECHNICIAN CALLED AND SAID THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND THE SENSOR IS BAD. THERE IS AN AIRBAG RECALL FOR THE OTHER BMW SERIES BUT IT DIDN'T INCLUDE THE SEVEN SERIES. THERE ARE OTHER 7 SERIES OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING. I READ THIS ON THE BMW FORUMS AND IT IS A LOT OF BMW OWNERS SPENDING MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AS WELL. CAN YOU PLEASE CONSIDER OUR CARS AS WELL. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V504000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BMW 7 SERIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO PASS EMISSIONS BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE INTAKE VALVES ON THE AUXILIARY PUMP LEAKED OIL INTO THE MANIFOLD AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RELEASE SMOKE AND EMISSIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,100.
I TOOK MY 745LI TO THE ONLY BMW SERVICE CENTER IN DAVENPORT, IA FOR SERVICE AND THEY COULD NOT OPEN THE HOOD BY USING THE LATCH INSIDE THE CAR NOR COULD THEY OPEN IT BY ANY OTHER MEANS. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT LED UP TO THIS ISSUE, IT JUST HAPPENED. THEY FAILED ONCE AGAIN TO OPEN THE HOOD THE NEXT TIME I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR A SERVICE SO I ASKED THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY STATED IT WAS NOT SOMETHING COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO I WAS FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD TO REMOVE MY FRONT TIRE IN ORDER TO OPEN THE HOOD AND THAT THE FAULTY PART WAS THE MECHANISM THAT CONNECTS WITH THE LATCH AND HOOD. I PAID OVER $3K FOR AN EXTENSIVE WARRANTY, SO I WAS LIVID THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WAS NOT COVERED. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR NEW PARTS, REPAIRS AND OF COURSE LABOR. I KEEP MY VEHICLE IN TIP-TOP CONDITION AND I EVEN KEEP IT IN STORAGE DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT, IT WAS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. FOR A $80K CAR; I EXPECTED MORE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE AIR LINES WOULD HAVE TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS THE STATE EMISSION TEST BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
A FULL WARNING MESSAGE APPEARING IN THE IDRIVE WAS FAULT IN PASS.-RESTRAINT SYSTEM AFFECTING AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER OR BELT-FORCE LIMITER. FASTEN AND CONTINUE TO WEAR BELTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V240000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) BUT THE CONTACTS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
POWER BRAKE FAILURE. WE NEVER RECEIVED OCTOBER 2010 RECALL NOTICE FROM BMW USA. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED LEAKING VACUUM PUMP BUT NEVER ADVISED OWNER TO REPLACE/REPAIR; DEALERSHIP HAD TWO OPPORTUNITIES TO CORRECT, BUT DIDN'T.
BMW NA SUBMITTED TO NHTSA A NOTICE THAT UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES THERE MAY BE A POWER BRAKING LOSS DUE TO A LEAKING VACUUM PUMP. BMW NA HAS NOT INSTITUTED A CONSISTENT RECALL POLICY ACROSS ITS DEALERSHIPS RELATED TO THIS RECALL. DEALERSHIPS ARE LEFT TO THEIR DEVICES IN COVERING THE RECALL WORK WITH SOME DEALERSHIPS REPLACING VACUUM PUMPS, AND OTHERS CHARGING OWNERS FOR THE REPLACEMENT. OUR 745 EXPERIENCED THE BARE MINIMUM OF RECALL WORK IN DECEMBER 2010, BUT THE LEAKING VACUUM PUMP WAS NOT REPLACED, NOR WERE WE NOTIFIED THAT IT WAS LEAKING BY THE DEALERSHIP. 5 MONTHS LATER VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN INTO A COMMERCIAL STRIP MALL AND AS THE VEHICLE WAS BEING PARKED, IT DID NOT STOP. VEHICLE JUMPED PEDESTRIAN WALK WAY AND DAMAGED THE ENTRANCE OF A RESTAURANT. I HAVE LEARNED THROUGH RESEARCH THAT BMW NA IS ALL OVER THE BOARD REGARDING THIS RECALL. TRANSMISSION SKIPPED, ESPECIALLY WHEN COMING TO A STOP...IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND "REPAIRED" BY REPLACING THE "MECHATRONICS" IN THE VEHICLE. NOW, IT HAS OCCURRED AGAIN, AND THEY CLAIM NOW THAT IT IS THE FAILURE OF THE DOOR OPENING SYSTEM, INSTALLED BY BMW, THAT'S CAUSING THE BATTERY TO "LEAK", THEREFORE CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO MALFUNCTION..I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO ITEMS, AND IF SO THIS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND FAMILY. MY CAR WAS REPAIRED BACK IN 9/8/2008 FOR NON FUNCTIONING DOOR HANDLES AND LOCKS. SINCE THE REPLACEMENT OF THESE PARTS THE DOORS HAVE OPENED WITHOUT NOTICE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED, SO THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. SO I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SINCE THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED. I WAS GOING ON A ROAD TRIP WITH MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE, AND DURING THIS ROAD TRIP I WAS GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY ON AN EXIT RAMP AND THE DOOR SWUNG COMPLETELY OPEN AND MY DOG ALMOST FELL OUT OF THE CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALER TO HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED AND THEY CHECKED IT AGAIN AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE DEALER THE DOOR DID NOT WANT TO STAY LATCHED AND KEPT POPPING OPEN. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN WORKED ON 3-4 TIMES WITHOUT A RESOLUTION. THE DOORS POPPING OPEN ON A VEHICLE DURING USE COULD BE VERY FATAL TO SOMEONE IN THE CAR. THE DEALER SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH THE CAR AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE DOORS POPPING OPEN IF THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. DYNAMIS DRIVE INACTIVE LIGHT COMES ON UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED BUT IT WON'T STORE THE CODE. BMW SAID THAT THIS CAN'T HAPPEN SO WHEN IT HAPPENED I DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HE SAW IT WAS ON BUT AS SOON AS HE SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT THE LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE CODE GONE.
