TAKATA RECALL- MY 2007 BMW X5 AFTER START UP AND PULLING IT IN GEAR (RATHER DRIVE OR REVERSE ) WOULD AUTOMATICALLY GO BACK TO PARK. EVEN STOPPING AT STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHTS IT WOULD GO BACK TO PARK. I CALLED THE BMW SERVICE CENTER AND THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO REACH BACK OUT TO ME FOR AN APPOINTMENT. I WAS IN CINCINNATI A FEW DAYS AGO AND NEARLY GOT IN A ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WENT INTO PARK AGAIN WHEN I STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT AND WENT TO GO ON GREEN.

16V-071 : DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE RECALL - CALLED BMX ON LEMMON AVE IN DALLAS, TX TO HAVE THIS REPLACED AND THEY SAID THE DID NOT HAVE THE PART NOR KNOW WHEN THEY WILL HAVE THEM. I WROTE TO BMW AND THEY REPLIED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE TO DO SO UNTIL SPRING 2017.
VEHICLE KEEPS STALLING AND ACCELERATING SHUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING MAINLY IN THE CITY I COULD B TURNING OR DRIVING STRAIGHT AND SHUTS OFF AND TAKES AWHILE TO RESTART...ELECTRICAL WIRING KEEPS SHORTING OUT SUNROOF SHORTS OUT AND TAIL LIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT...I TOOK IT TO DEALER PAID $5000 AND SAME PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHENEVER THE GAS CAP IS OPENED WHEN RE-FUELING AND A NOTICEABLE BURNT SMELL IS NOTICED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST REPAIR SHOP SERVICING BMW NEAR ME. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS ATTACHED. I INCURRED ABOUT $2230 IN REPAIR CHARGES. FROM THEN ON, THE PROBLEM HASN'T RE-OCCURED.
THIS IS INVOLVING THE RECALL ISSUED FOR MY VEHICLE INVOLVING THE IN TANK FUEL PUMP...BMW STILL HAS NOT FIXED THIS ISSUE, I HAVE CALLED OUR LOCAL DEALER IN CICERO, NEW YORK AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED OVER 6 MOS AGO AND MY VEHICLE'S INSPECTION WAS DUE IN MARCH AND THEY WILL NOT PASS IT BECAUSE THE EMISSIONS ISSUE CAUSES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO BE ON. SO I KEEP GETTING TICKETS BECAUSE I AM AN ATTORNEY AND NEED MY CAR TO DRIVE ALL OVER FOR WORK. ITS RIDICULOUS THAT THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED IN OVER 6 MOS AND I KEEP GETTING THE SAME EXCUSE FROM THE DEALER. ALSO, THE AIRBAG RECALLS HAVE NOT BEEN ADDRESSED EITHER PRESENTING ANOTHER DANGER IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT.
THE 2008 - 2014 BMW X5 ENGINE TROUBLES ARE THE SAME ISSUES MY 2007 ENGINE ARE HAVING, YET THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THE 2007. THERE SHOULD BE SINCE I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUES.
RECENTLY MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SMELLING OF GASOLINE. THE CABIN FILLS UP WITH THE ODOR. THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE SMELLS WHEN IT IS RUNNING OR SHORTLY AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS THE SMELL HAS GOT WORSE. I ONLY RECENTLY BECAME AWARE OF A RECALL SPECIFYING SIMILAR ISSUES. I WANTED TO MAKE RECORD OF MY ISSUE AND COMPLAINT REGARDING MY VEHICLE.

TAKATA RECALL I WAS IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE GOING DOWNWARD ON THE RAMP WITH MY 2007 X5. MY TIRE BLEW OFF THE RIM CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL AND EVENTUALLY STRIKE THE SIDE WALL. WAS WEARING SEAT BELT DURING ACCIDENT,SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME AND HEAD HIT WINDSHIELD. DEBRIS FROM AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL CUT ME IN VARIOUS PLACES. NOT ALL OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, ONLY STEERING WHEEL AND CURTAIN. SECOND ACCIDENT WITH A BMW TRUCK WHERE EITHER ONLY A FEW DEPLOYED OR NONE AT ALL. THIS ISSUE REALLY CAUSED A SAFETY CONCERN WITH ME BECAUSE I WAS PREGNANT AT THE TIME OF ACCIDENT AND WASN'T FULLY PROTECTED AT ALL. BMW ARE TOO GOOD OF CARS FOR THIS MAJOR FLAW. ALSO, I CONTACTED BMW AROUND DECEMBER 2015 IN REFERENCE TO RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE PART CAME IN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. CONTACT HAS RECEIVED THREE LETTERS FROM MANUFACTURER ADVISING TO CONTACT DEALER FOR AN INTERIM REPAIR OF THE AIR BAG INFLATOR FAILURE. DEALER WAS UNAWARE OF RECALL CAMPAIGN NO. 16V-071. DEALER SAYS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE AND CANNOT BE ORDERED. DEALER SAYS REPAIR KIT IS ISSUED SPECIFIC TO VIN AND THERE IS NOTHING TO DO BUT WAIT. PART HAS NOT FAILED YET BUT CONTACT FEARS DRIVING THE VEHICLE DUE TO RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL INVESTIGATION.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER DRAINED INTO THE MODULE ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED THE RADIO AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM TO EXPERIENCE A SHORT CIRCUIT FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN THE DRAINING SYSTEM IN THE REAR SUN ROOF OF THE VEHICLE, THAT WATER COULD ENTER THE COMPARTMENT WHERE THE MODULES WERE LOCATED, CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE, A VEHICLE STALL, OR AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT DRAIN NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
CAR HAD 56000 MILES ON IT, AT 99500 MOTOR WENT, THEN AIR SPRINGS, PARKING BRAKE, TAKATA RECALL,WHEN THE TRANSMISSION, VACUUM PUMP, AND HOW THE RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP. TODAY THE I DRIVE WENT OUT IN TOTAL MYSELF AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY HAVE SPEND OVER 24000. DOLLARS ON A CAR THAT PER BMW IS THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE, MORE LIKE JUNK!!! AND NO PARTS IN SIGHT TO REPAIR THE AIR BAGS OR THE FUEL PUMP. I THINK A CLASS ACTION SHOULD BE FILED. I'M 58 YEARS OLD NOT 18 I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY CARS. THE CAR VALUE ON KELLY BLUE BOOK IS ONLY 12000. WE NEED HELP TO MAKE BMW STAND BEHIND WHERE QUALITY NOT THEIR HAND IN OUR BACK POCKETS, NO CAR THAT COST 77500.00 IN 2007 SHOULD HAVE ALL THESE PROBLEMS. A FORD OR CHEVY WOULD DO BETTER. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT BMW KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2007-2010 X5 WITH THE 4.8 I ENGINE AND I DRIVE BUT NEVER MADE IT GOOD, JUST ASK ANYONE THAT OWNED ONE. MY LAST ONE I THINK KIA WOULD HOLD UP BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!! BY THE WAY THE CAR HAS 125200 NOW, I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, IT JUST QUITS WITH NO WARNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW X5. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT, BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER, AND FAULTY LIGHTS, AND SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.
THE VEHICLE HAS NO BRAKES WHAT SO EVER. THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS IF YOU PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP D PATRICK, AND MATT HAS TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL REPLACEMENT PART WAS SERVICED A YEAR AND A HALF AGO (WHICH THE VEHICLE HAS SAT SINCE OCTOBER OF 2014) THAT EVEN THOUGH IT FAILED IT IS NOT COVERED. THERE IS A RED BRAKE LIGHT WARNING ON THE DASH, THEY SAID NO BRAKE FLUID CAME OUT DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND FAULTY LINES.

THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED FORCEFULLY NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V045000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) WHEN THE FAILURE HAD NOT YET BEEN EXPERIENCED. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH 2014, STARTED DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED THAT THE WHOLE DRIVE TRAIN WOULD SLIGHTLY JERK WHILE DRIVING AND APPLYING 15-25% OF LOAD, (I BOUGHT A VEHICLE TWO MONTHS AGO, AND FROM THE FIRST DAY - ON COLD - IT WOULD MAKE THE SAME SYMPTOM FOR COUPLE OF FIRST 500-700 YARDS, AFTER COUPLE OF STOPS AND GOES, VEHICLE HEATS UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIVE NORMALLY.) AT 10:20A.M, SAME SATURDAY, I MADE A FULL STOP ON A STOP SIGN TURNING RIGHT TO A MAIN STREET. AS MOST OF THE TRAFFIC WAS DRIVING ON THE MAIN STREET, I WAITED FOR THE FAST PAS PACED TRAFFIC TO PASS BY, I TRIED TO ENTER THE MAIN STREET BY ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE. SO I APPLIED APPROX. 20-25% LOAD, IT WAS 5MPH WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO ALIGN STEERING WHEEL TO ZERO DEGREES CENTER, I HEARD AND FELT REAR SUSPENSION FREEZING UP, CLICKING AND CHATTERING WITH LOUD GRINDING SOUND (SOUNDED LIKE THE AXLE FELL OUT) ENGINE RPM WOULD INCREASE TO 3,000RPM BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, AND SOMETHING IN THE REAR WAS STILL GRINDING WHEN TRANSMISSION WAS IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE CURB, BLOCKING RIGHT LANE. VEHICLE HAD NO TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHTS OR ERROR MESSAGES ON CLUSTER. I DID TOWED THE VEHICLE TO MY BMW TECHNICIAN, AND HE TOLD ME THAT I NEED REAR DIFFERENTIAL, REASON INTERNAL FAILURE, I TOLD TECHNICIAN TO MAKE NOTES OF ANYTHING UNUSUAL WHILE TAKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID WAS RIGHT AT ITS LEVEL AND NO LEAKS OR EVEN SEEPAGE WAS NOT NOTICEABLE (I OWNED MANY BMWS WELL OVER 200K MILES ON THE CLUSTER, AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH REAR DIFFERENTIALS.) THE PART FAILED 2 DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN A DAY OF INSTALL. THE LAST TIME, AFTER REPLACING THE FIRST FAILED PART. THE BALL JOINT SNAPPED IN TWO WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY, WHEN THE PART FAILED THE NOISE MADE A LOUD BANG AND THE CAR JERKED TO THE LEFT. I BELIEVE IF THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE NOT DRY, YOU COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME I INSTALLED, THIS PART SEPARATED FROM THE BALL JOINT WITH A LOUD BANK, I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A STOP LIGHT CLOSE TO HOME. THE PLASTIC ROCKER SWITCH FOR THE ELECTROMECHANICAL PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE BROKE DURING THE COURSE OF NORMAL ACTUATION AND REQUIRED THE ENTIRE "EMF SWITCH" ASSEMBLY TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO RESUME OPERATION OF THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE. THIS SWITCH APPEARS TO HAVE A DURABILITY ISSUE WHICH COULD CAUSE A VEHICLE TO BE STUCK WITH THE BRAKE SET ON OR UNABLE TO SET THE BRAKE WHEN NEEDED.
