THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS BACK SEAT PASSENGERS COULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT OR FIREHT REAR DOOR LOCKS AND WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. MANUFACTURE'S SUPPLIED CHROME WHEELS HAVE DEFECTIVE CHROME PLATING ALLOWING THE CHROME TO FLAKE OFF BREAKING THE SEAL WITH THE TIRE RESULTING IN THE TIRE LOSING AIR PRESSURE AND SUBSEQUENT DRIVE-ABILITY PROBLEM. *TR

RECEIVED RECALL TODAY ON THE CAR SAYING AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IF KEY ACCIDENTALLY TURNS OFF, I DON'T REMEMBER IF THAT WAS CASE OR NOT, BUT GM SAYS IT COULD HAPPEN. *TR

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON REREIDENTAL STREET( 31TH NEAR CHARLES STREET) IN ROCKFORD IL. AT 8:00PM,CROSSING OVER CHARLES STREET WHILE THE INTERSECTION LIGHT IN MY DIRECTION; AND EAST BOUND VEHICLE DIS-REGARED THE LIGHT AND CROSSED INTO MY PATH TURNING LEFT GOING SOUTH CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ENTIRE VEHICLE FROM THE TIRES TO THE BUMPER. 2006 BUICK LUCERNE WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A JARRING EVENT THAT OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY AFFECTING THE ENGINE POWER AND POWER STEERING. *MW THE IGNITION, POWER STEERING HOSE AND AIR BAG MODULE AND OXYGEN SENSOR WERE REPLACED. *JB
CHROME IS PEELING OFF THE WHEELS AND CAUSING FAILURE TO MY TIRES....HAVE A LONG RECORD OF REPAIRS WITH THE GM DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR FOR THESE REPAIRS TO KEEP THE AIR IN MY TIRES. NEED NEW TIRES AND IM AFRAID TO INVEST $700 IN TIRES BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE???? *TR
CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING IT. LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAULTY IGNITION MODULE. I WAS LUCKY I WAS NOT ON A HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED. GIVEN THE COMPANY RECALLS ON IGNITION PARTS ON OTHER NAME PLATES, IT IS LIKELY THAT THE BUICK'S ARE ALSO SEEING IGNITION PROBLEMS AND FAILURES BUT GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS CAR PLATFORM. I HOPE THAT NO ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BEFORE THIS DEFECTIVE PART IS RECALLED. I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY. UPDATED 10/16/14 *JB

THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON EIGHT DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR A DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BEADS ON THE RIMS WERE DETERIORATING. I HAVE FILED A PRIOR CLAIM WITH YOU ON THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE FAILURE. DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE MODULE - GM SUBSEQUENTLY ISSUED RECALL FOR BUICKS, ALTHO THEY ARE CLAIMING THE FAILURE HAS TO DO WITH A SLOT/HOLE IN A KEY. I HAD ONLY THE KEY AND THE LOCK FOB ON THE KEY - I DID NOT HAVE LOTS OF KEYS AND OTHER ACCESSORIES LINKED TO MY KEY, NOR DID I HIT A POTHOLE OR ANYTHING JARRING. THE CAR JUST DIED, NO BRAKES, STEERING, UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT WAS AT A LOW SPEED AND NOT 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THIS REPAIR COST ME $939 DOLLARS. AND I AM NOT SURE THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART ISN'T A DEFECTIVE DUPLICATE, AN INVENTORY SHELF ITEM THAT HAS THE SAME DEFECT AS THE PART REPLACED. IF GM IS CLAIMING IT'S ONLY A KEY ISSUE, THEN THE DRIVERS OF THESE LARGER VEHICLES ARE ALL AT RISK, AS WELL AS OTHER VEHICLES THAT MIGHT BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH A CAR UNABLE TO BE CONTROLLED. PLEASE DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH SWEEPING THIS ISSUE UNDER THE RUG. I DON'T WANT TO BE INJURED OR CAUSE A DEATH BECAUSE GM DOESN'T WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE MODULES. BOTH REAR PASSENGERS DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THIS HAS BEEN AN RECURRING PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A YEAR, IT IS SUCH A SHAME HOW MANY COMPLAINTS ARE FILLED FOR THIS PARTICULAR DEFECT AND THERE IS NOT ANY RECALLS. *TR
DRIVING WESTBOUND ON ILLINOIS RT-7 TOWARDS LOCKPORT, ILLINOIS WHEN VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND INTO ONCOMING LANE NEARLY CAUSING A HEAD-ON COLLISION. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT STRUTS RUSTED THROUGH AT THE MOUNTING FLANGES WHEREBY THE FRONT SUSPENSION COLLAPSED FALLING DOWN ON THE LEFT FRONT TIRE DESTROYING THE NEW MICHELIN TIRE THROWING THE CAR OUT OF CONTROL AND INTO THE ONCOMING LANE. THE CAR IS GARAGE KEPT WITH LITTLE TO NO RUST ANYWHERE BUT ON THE STRUTS. GENERAL MOTORS REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIRS AS THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY! I HAVE OWNED OTHER CARS FOR THIRTY YEARS WITH A LOT MORE MILES AND NEVER HAD SUCH A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF A SUSPENSION SYSTEM. EVEN OLD PICK-UP TRUCKS LAST A LOT LONGER. FREEZE PLUG FAILED (NOT DUE TO FREEZING). DEALER INDICATED NOT TO DRIVE VEHICLE. WAS NECESSARY TO TEAR OUT TRANSMISSION TO MAKE REPAIRS WITH A NEW TYPE OF REPLACEMENT PLUG. DEALER HAD CAR FROM WEDNESDAY NOON TO FOLLOWING TUESDAY EVENING. NEW TYPE OF SEAL COST $24.50 AND THE LABOR WAS $1,114.00. GATEWAY BUICK IN DALLAS, TEXAS. INDICATED THAT IF SEAL WAS NOT REPLACED I COULD LOOSE ALL COOLANT AND HOT ENGINE COULD CAUSE STEAM THAT WOULD HINDER MY VISION AND LEAVE ME STRANDED ALONG THE ROAD. THE NEXT MORNING AFTER REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF LOW. HAD TO RETURN VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS. SEEMS TO ME THAT THE ORIGINAL FREEZE PLUG WAS BADLY DESIGNED AND THAT GM HAD TO DEVELOP A NEW TYPE OF SEAL IN ORDER TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS AND DAMAGE.. *TR
MY PARENTS WERE INVOLVED IN A FRONT-END COLLISION. THEIR CAR WAS TOTALED; THE FRONT END WAS SMASHED IN SO THAT THEY HAD TO PRY OPEN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT TO REMOVE THEIR PERSONAL PAPERS AND THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED; THE FRONT AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. MY FATHERS MOST SEVERE INJURIES WERE DUE TO THE FRONT AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING. THIS MODEL IS NOT PART OF THE GM RECALL OF CARS WHOSE FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN FRONT-END COLLISIONS. IT'S TAKEN GM 10 YEARS; 13 FATALITIES; AND COUNTLESS OTHER INJURIES; TO FINALLY RECALL SOME MODELS; BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT ALL. SHAME ON THE NHTSA FOR NOT FOLLOWING THROUGH. UPDATED 05/12/14

IN ADDITION, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING WITH ONLY A SINGLE KEY IN THE IGNITION, AS RECOMMENDED, UNTIL THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
BOTH REAR DOORS DO NOT OPEN. THE LATCHES HAVE FAILED. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THE BACKSEAT, UNLESS YOU CRAWL THROUGH THE FRONT. THE LATCHES HAVE LATCHED FOREVER. THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. IT STARTED INTERMITTENTLY WITH ONE DOOR THEN THE NEXT. THEY HAVE BEEN CLOSED NOW FOR OVER YEAR WITH BEING UNABLE TO OPEN THEM. WE HAVE THREE CHILDREN WHO WILL BE STUCK IN THE BACK IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

HAD JUST GOT HOME AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WAS NOT ALL THE WAY SHUT. SO I SHUT IT AND THEN LOCKED IT. WENT OUT THE NEXT DAY AND SAME DOOR WON'T OPEN EVEN THOUGH THE VISIBLE LOCK IS UP IN THE UNLOCK POSITION. *TR
VEHICLE IS A 2006 BUICK LUCERNE CX WITH 40,000 MILES. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO IT STARTED TO GO DEAD WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS JAN 15, 2014 WITH MY WIFE DRIVING. THE NEXT SHUTDOWN ON MAR 4, 2014, OCCURRED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THERE WAS AN AUDIBLE SIGNAL ACCOMPANIED BY A "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" WARNING, FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING AND COMPLETE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. I WAS ABLE TO COAST ACROSS 2 TRAFFIC LANES INTO A PARKING AREA WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY WHILE STEERING AND BRAKING WITHOUT POWER ASSIST. TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE BUT GOT ?THROTTLE DISABLED? MESSAGE. AFTER 2-4 MINUTES WAS ABLE TO RESTART WITH NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE LAST SHUTDOWN WAS ON MARCH 10, 2014, ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. I HAD DISABLED TRACTION CONTROL EARLIER IN HOPES OF AVOIDING ANOTHER UNEXPECTED SHUTDOWN. AFTER COASTING OFF THE INTERSTATE, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART NORMALLY AFTER A FEW MINUTES. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED AFTER THE RESTART. TWO GM DEALERS CHECKED THE CAR ON MAR 11, 2014. THE FIRST WAS A CHEVROLET DEALER, AND AFTER SOME DIAGNOSTIC WORK THEY SENT ME TO A BUICK DEALER DOWN THE STREET. BOTH DEALERS SAID THERE WERE NO ERROR MESSAGES AND THEY COULD NOT REPAIR. THEY SAID WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO BRING IT BACK IN IMMEDIATELY FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE 3 SHUTDOWNS HAVE BEEN ON COLD MORNINGS, TEMPS LESS THAN 40 DEGREES. I BELIEVE IN ALL THREE CASES THE WARNING ?WATCH FOR ICY CONDITIONS? HAS APPEARED PRIOR TO FAILURE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FAILURE MODE THAT LEAVES NO TRACKS IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT! MY WIFE NOW REFUSES TO DRIVE THE CAR, AND I AM VERY APPREHENSIVE ABOUT IT. *TR

ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BLACKS OUT AND WHEN IT STOPS YOU CAN NOT CRANK IT. AFTER WAITING DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF TIME YOU CAN CRANK IT UP AND CONTINUES UNTIL THE NEXT MYSTERIOUS OUTAGE . THIS IS MY WIFE CAR AND I DO NOT ALLOW HER TO DRIVE IT. I DO NOT TAKE IT ON ANY WINDING ROADS. THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS OF THE CAR DO NOT OPEN. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS HAVE FAILED TO WORK. THE MECHANISM DESIGN HAS FAILED BECAUSE THE MANUAL DOOR LOCK RELEASES DO NOT WORK. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT (OR ENTER) THE CAR FROM THE BACKSEAT. THE REAR DOORS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR DO NOT OPEN. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENT AND THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY PRIOR DAMAGE. DIC 'SERVICE AIR BAG' MESSAGE IS SHOWING. MOVING DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FORWARD AND BACK SOMETIMES MAKES THE MESSAGE DISAPPEAR. THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME THE 'SERVICE AIR BAG' MESSAGE IS SHOWING. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN APRIL OF 2013 FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAS STATED THAT THIS SAME DIC MESSAGE HAS HAPPENED TO HIM.
