TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM, AIR CONDITIONING AND THE ENGINE FAILED. THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT INDICATE WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL OR EMPTY. THE AIR CONDITIONING WOULD NOT BLOW COOL AIR AND THE ENGINE WAS EXHIBITING AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,794.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DISPLAYED A HOT LEVEL READING WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE COOLANT WARNING INDICATOR. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY REPLACED THE HEAD GASKET. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AT 115,000 MILES. I WILL SHOW FULL AND TWO SECONDS LATER IT WILL SHOW EMPTY EVEN IF IT IS FULL. WE HAVE TO WATCH FUEL USAGE MY MILEAGE. *TR
TL *THE CONTACT OWNS 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER WAS NON FUNCTIONAL AND ANTI-FREEZE WAS LEAKING OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANIFOLD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 130,000.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED IN 2004, AND OVER THE PAST YEARS WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FOLLOWING: BOTH FRONT HUB ASSEMBLIES (WITH SPEED SENSORS), INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET AND THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER (ONE YEAR AGO). JUST WITHIN THE LAST 2 MONTHS WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FOLLOWING: TIE-ROD, RADIATOR, WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, HEAD GASKET, AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET AGAIN. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 86,000 MILES ON IT TO DATE. THE ONLY THING THAT WE HAD THE BUICK DEALER WORK ON WAS THE FRONT HUB ASSEMBLIES, THE REST OF THE WORK WAS PERFORMED BY TIRE DEALERSHIP, RADIATOR SHOP, AND AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR GARAGE. NOW, THE ABS LIGHT IS ON AGAIN MEANING THAT ONE OF THE FRONT HUB ASSEMBLIES ARE OUT (REPLACED BY BUICK THEMSELVES) AND OUR ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING. AND, ALSO, THE AIR-BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE NOTICED QUITE A LONG LIST OF COMPLAINTS OVER THE INTERNET CONCERNING ALL THE ABOVE PROBLEMS OTHERS HAVE HAD AS WELL WITH THIS MODEL BUICK WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING PROBLEM OF WHICH BUICK WILL NOT DEAL WITH NOR STEP UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY AUTO-REPAIRMEN THAT THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS COME IN WITH PROBLEMS WITH THE 3400 MODEL ENGINE. I HAVE CONTACTED BUICK CONCERNING THE AIR-BAG PROBLEM, AND THEY ACT AS THOUGH THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS AND DENY ANY RESPONSIBILITY TO LOOK INTO IT, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ISSUED A RECALL ON THE AIR BAG INFLATOR FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL, JUST NOT FOR MY VIN#. OVER THE YEARS THAT WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE WE HAVE INVESTED QUITE A SUM OF MONEY INTO REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICLE, AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT! I BELIEVE THAT WITH ALL THE NHTSA SAFETY COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THE AIR BAGS SYSTEM, BUICK SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE! ALL THE OTHER UNIQUE PROBLEMS WITH THIS ENGINE HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BY US, AND IS TOO LATE TO EXPECT ANY HELP
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AND AS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND HAD BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
I HAVE A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS WITH 130,000 MILES. AT 125,000 I HAD TO REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT AND NOW IT IS OVERHEATING AGAIN. I HAVE DONE RADIATOR FLUSH, REPLACED TEMP SENSOR, CHECKED RELAYS AND REPLACED FUSES. HAVE NOW BEEN INFORMED THE HEAD GASKET NEEDS TO BE 2ND COOLING FAN IS NOT COMING ON BUT WILL POWER UP UNDER DIRECT POWER SOURCE. ALSO BEING INFORMED IT NEEDS A POWER CONTROL MODULE (PCM). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD AND HEAD GASKETS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AS A RESULT OF WATER LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS LEAKING OIL ONTO THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 109,071.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE ANTI THEFT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A GRINDING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
WHEN HOT OUTSIDE 80+. THE LIGHTS GO OUT, THE DASH KEEPS FLASHING ON/OFF, THE SECURITY SYSTEM LOCKS UP, THE AC STOPS WORKING\, THE RADIO STOPS WORKING, THE DOOR LOCKS STOP WORKING ETC ETC ETC. WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO MY MECH AND HE CAN'T FIND PROBLEM. WE ARE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND MAKE HIM SEARCH FOR THE PROBLEM. I AM READING THAT IT IS THE BCM ON THESE CARS. *TR
MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS HAD COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE A FEW MONTHS AGO. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY TRAVELING ABOUT 10 MILES AN HOUR AND WAS WITHIN A MILE OF HOME. THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED OUT. THIS CAR WAS STORED IN A GARAGE WHEN NOT DRIVEN AND HAS BEEN IN FLORIDA FOR TWO YEARS. THE BUICK DEALERSHIP IMPLIED THAT THIS IS JUST COMMON WEAR AND TEAR. THERE WAS NO WARNING, AND NO REPAIR SHOP THAT DID WORK ON THE CAR EVER INDICATED THIS RUSTING OF THE BRAKE LINE WAS HAPPENING. CAR HAD ABOUT 100,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ALSO BEEN THROUGH THREE CONTROL MODULES, LUCKILY COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO, BECAUSE I GOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AT TIME OF PURCHASE, THE AIR CONDITIONING, THE HEAD GASKET AND VARIOUS OTHER PROBLEMS WERE COVERED. THIS 2002 MODEL DEFINITELY HAS SOME SPECIFIC AND EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS PROBLEMS. LATELY, IT'S CALMED DOWN. GREAT CAR FOR COMFORT, AND ROOMY FOR CARRYING HOUSEHOLD ITEMS. TOO BAD TOYOTA DIDN'T MAKE IT. *TR
2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE MONEY PIT. SEEMS THAT AS USUAL OUR LATEST EXPENSE (101,000) IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALLS, DUE TO THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF THE VEHICLE. SMELLED GAS FOR A WEEK, THEN NOTICED GAS GAUGE FLUCTUATING, NEVER SHOWING EMPTY EVEN THOUGH TRIP ODOMETER SHOWED IT HAD ALMOST AN EMPTY TANK. MECHANIC STATED CRACK IN THE FUEL TANK, BUT CAR WAS MANUFACTURED BEFORE THE RECALL DATE, SO BUICK DID NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS. HAVE RECENTLY ALSO EXPERIENCED LOSS OF ALL POWER TO CIGARETTE LIGHTERS, DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN AND ENTIRE REGULATOR UNIT WAS REPLACED. BACK HATCH HANDLE FELL OFF, AGAIN. REARVIEW MIRROR ALSO FELL OFF. AC FAN WILL NO LONGER BLOW AT HIGHEST SETTING. THESE ARE ALL MINOR COMPARED TO THE FAULTY ABS SENSOR, LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL, AC CONDENSER, TIE RODS, 2 REPLACED BATTERIES, FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, ROTORS. AND THOSE REPAIRS ARE JUST FROM THE LAST 3 YEARS.... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION BEFORE SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 129,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 35 MPH, THE RADIATOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT TWO OF HIS HEAD GASKETS HAD FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 100,000.
2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS WITH LEAKING GAS TANK NOT BEING COVERED UNDER RECALL BY GM #06230. *TR
THE WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE AND CAUSED THE WINDOW TO DROP INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE REGULATOR, WINDOW CLIPS AND WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. BUICK REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY ON THESE PARTS. AS A RESULT, I PAID $200 FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
MAIN BRAKE LINE BETWEEN FRONT BRAKES RUSTED THROUGH AND ALL BRAKES WERE LOST INSTANTLY. ACCORDING TO BRAKE MECHANIC, THE LINE RUNS UNDER THE FIREWALL AND HAS INSULATION WRAPPED AROUND THE LINE. THE INSULATION RETAINS MOISTURE AND ALLOWS IT TO START THE RUST PROCESS. BRAKE FAILURE WOULD BE SUDDEN AND WITHOUT WARNING. BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRED IN THIS SITUATION WHEN VEHICLE WAS BEING BACKED OUT OF A PARKING STALL AND BRAKES WERE APPLIED. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE OR NO BRAKE RESPONSE. MY WIFE AND GRANDSON WERE IN THE CAR. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY, THEY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED WITH THE SUDDEN AND TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE, THE VEHICLE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SHE CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL AND IT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE. SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE A SHORT DISTANCE AND PARKED IT. WHEN SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP THE MECHANIC ADVISED HER THAT A GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SHE WAS NOT SURE WHAT TYPE OF GASKET SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED HER TO CONTINUE ADDING COOLANT SINCE SHE COULD NOT AFFORD TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. ON JULY 8, 2010 SHE STATED THAT THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
I PURCHASED 2002 RENDEZVOUS IN 2002. IT BEGAN IN THE SECOND YEAR I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT I WOULD BE REPLACING THE RADIATOR AND CONDENSER ASSEMBLY. EACH YEAR FOLLOWING I WAS SHELLING OUT MAJOR BUCKS IN REPAIRS. EACH YEAR THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH EITHER THE HEAT OR THE AIR CONDITIONER. FROM REPLACING SENSORS, THERMOSTAT TO WATER PUMPS. EACH YEAR I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS AND HAD THE HUB BEARING REPLACED ONCE. IN 2009 I BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL. I HAD THE HEAD GASKETS REPLACED AND ONCE AGAIN PROBLEMS WITH HEAT AND REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. IN DECEMBER OF 2009 THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW NO LONGER WORKS. THEN IN JANUARY 2010 DESPITE MY EFFORTS IN TAKING VERY GOOD CARE OF MY CAR WITH REGULAR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, THE ENGINE TOOK A FINIAL DUMP. THE CAM SHAFT BROKE INSIDE THE ENGINE THAT PUMPS THE OIL WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I WAS LEFT STRANDED AND CARLESS. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE HUB BEARINGS BUT DID NOT QUALIFY BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ON THE RECALL FOR THE DEX COOLANT AND WHEN I FOUND OUT IT WAS TOO LATE. IN MY RECENT RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE HEAD GASKETS THAT CLOSED IN APRIL OF 2009, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. I DID RECEIVE A RECALL FOR THE FUEL FILL TUBE WHICH IS GOOD FOR 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES AND I DO QUALIFY, HOWEVER, I DON'T HAVE AN ENGINE! I CALLED BUICK CONSUMER RELATIONS 1-800-521-7300, AND THEY SAID THE ONLY RECALL THEY HAVE IS FOR THE LIFT GATE LATCH. I FEEL THAT GM SHOULD REOPEN THE RECALLS FOR THE DEX COOLANT, HUB BEARINGS AND THE HEAD GASKETS. I AM LOOKING FOR SOME RECOURSE BECAUSE IN NO WAY SHOULD THE CAM SHAFT BROKEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEVOUS. WHILE DRIVING THE HEADLIGHTS BEGAN TO TURN ON AND THEN OFF. ALSO THE DOOR LOCKS WERE UNLOCKING AND LOCKING ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 102000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES SUDDENLY ENGAGED ON DRY PAVEMENT. THE CONTACT RELEASED THE BRAKES AND REAPPLIED THE BRAKES TO ENGAGE THEM. THE FAILURE OCCURRED OFTEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO TEST DROVE IT AND NOTICED THE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,500. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,500.
HEAD GASKET BLEW. WAS FIXED FOR $2000 THEN NEXT DAY AFTER I PICKED IT UP FROM THE SHOP THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE, THEY SAID BRAKE LINES LEAKED ON MANIFOLD... *TR
MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS' TEMPERATURE GAUGE CONTINUES TO RISE AT LOW SPEEDS AND IT IS CONSTANTLY LOW ON RADIATOR FLUID. WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAD GASKET WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $1,000.00. THIS APPARENTLY HAS TO DO WITH THE TYPE OF COOLANT THAT WAS USED IN THIS GM PRODUCT, FOR WHICH THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE FOR AND THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF (BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2002). THIS IS JUST ONE PROBLEM IN A LONG LIST OF PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS, AS I AM SURE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS AND THE BATTERY POWER DRAIN WHICH RESULTED IN THE CAR GOING INTO SECURITY MODE. THE SECURITY WARNING NOW FLASHES ABOVE THE SPEEDOMETER AND MY RADIO STATES LOCKED. THE POWER WINDOWS & LOCKS, RADIO, FOG LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS AND AC ARE NOT WORKING DUE TO THE SECURITY FEATURE BEING ENABLED. THE KEYLESS REMOTE IS NOT RESPONDING TO THE TRUCK AS WELL. I HAVE ALSO HEARD AND READ ABOUT SEVERAL RENDEZVOUS OWNERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I AM SURPRISE IT IS NOT CONSIDER PART OF THE RECALL ON THE 02 RDZ. *TR
INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET IS DANGEROUS TRUCK OVERHEATS AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX I CANT AFFORD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, A FUEL ODOR ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK AROUND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 07E021000 (FUEL SYSTEM) AND 07V349000 (FUEL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
JUST PURCHASED A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS 4 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THIS CAR, IT LEFT ME STRANDED AND STARTED UP BY A JUMP START. I GOT THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, AND STARTER CHECKED ALL REPORTED FINE. CAR RAN FINE FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS THEN IT DID IT AGAIN. THE HEADLIGHTS WILL FLICKER AT NIGHT SOMETIMES AT A RHYTHM. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DECIDED WHEN THEY WILL AND WILL NOT WORK. MAINLY THE SEAT HEATER BUTTONS. REPLACED BATTERY YESTERDAY AND WHILE DRIVING TO RICHMOND VA ALL INTERIOR/EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF WITH THE BATTERY LIGHT SHOWING IN THE DASH. IT ALSO STATE THAT THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND WE THANK THE LORD THAT WE HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED THAT.
