The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac ATS equipped with Bridgestone Tires, Tire Line: DriveGuard Plus, Tire Size: 225/40/R18, Dot Number: EJ17CMM0922. The contact stated that while attempting to change a flat tire on rear passenger’s side of the vehicle he noticed cracks on the tire. The contact inspected the other three tires and noticed the same cracks. The contact stated that all four tires where replaced. The dealer was contacted and a claim was filed. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact back to the retail store. The failure mileage for the vehicle was 170,000. The tire failure mileage was 2,500.
CADILLAC ATS 2014 - WHEELS/TIRE RIMS - I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2014 WITH MICHELIN RUN-FLAT LOW PROFILE TIRES. AS OF TODAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2018, I HAVE REPLACED 22 TIRES, DUE TO THE TIRE ITSELF SEPARATING FROM THE TIRE RIM. IN SEVERAL CASES THE CAR DID NOT INDICATE ON THE DISPLAY PANEL THIS PROBLEM EXISTED. THE BENEFIT OF THESE TIRES IS TO ALLOW YOU TO RIDE ON THEM FOR APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS THE CAR DOES NOT ALWAYS INDICATE THE ISSUE ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY AND YOU DON'T KNOW HOW LONG YOU WERE ALREADY DRIVING WITH THE ISSUE. ALSO, ON OCCASION THE DISPLAY SHOWS PSI ZERO WHEN IT FIRST ALERTS YOU TO THE PROBLEM, WHICH REQUIRED ME TO BE TOWED AFTER WAITING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR OVER AN HOUR. WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK, CAUSING DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. WHEN I ADDRESSED THIS WITH THE DEALER, THEY INDICATED THE CAR DOES NOT REGISTER A TIRE ISSUE UNLESS THE INNER LINING OF THE TIRE IS RIPPED. WHEN DRIVING I AM CONSTANTLY WEAVING TO PREVENT ANY SIZE POT HOLE TO PREVENT ANOTHER TIRE EPISODE. THIS ALSO CAUSES A DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. THE TIRE AND/OR TIRE RIMS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED, TO PREVENT ANY FUTURE HAZARDOUS DRIVING SITUATIONS FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS. I HAVE PICTURES OF A FEW OF THE TIRE RUBBER SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE RIM, AND ALSO HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS FOR THE (21) TIRE REPLACEMENTS AND TOWING RECEIPTS IF NEEDED. INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED IN NY, NJ AND PA, THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE CAR DISPLAY WOULD INDICATED A PROBLEM, HOWEVER, IN SEVERAL OF THE INCIDENTS I SAW THAT THE TIRE WAS SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE RIM, YET THE CAR DISPLAY DID NOT INDICATE AN ISSUE. I INDICATED IT HAPPENED 11/16/18, THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, UP TO THIS DATE 21 TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, IN ON INSTANCE 3-TIRES WERE REPLACED AT ONE TIME. 3 RIMS/WHEELS BENT UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS UNDER 11,000 MILES FROM NEW, DUE TO POOR QUALITY AND IMPROPER DESIGN, CAUSING A VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
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
