BRAKES STOPPED WORKING GOT INTO ACCIDENT ... AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF
COME TO STOP SIGN PUT FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. INSTEAD OF STOPPING CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND WOULD NOT STOP WITH BRAKE PEDAL APPLIED UNTIL IT WITH THROUGH NEIGHBORS BARN. TOTALLED VEHICLE. PASSENGER VERIFIES BRAKE WAS BEING APPLIED DURING THIS INCIDENT. *JB
UPON COMPLETION OF AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TRIP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND CAME TO AN INVOLUNTARY DEAD STOP WITH A LOUD NOISE WITH THE RH FRONT END RESTING ON THE WHEEL. THE SUSPENSION ON THE GROUND. THE NUT RETAINING THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS MISSING. THE RH SIDES OF FRONT END COLLAPSED ON R FRONT WHEEL.. 2004 CADILLAC CTS. EARLIER MODELS HAD FACTORY RECALL FOR SAME LOOSE NUT NOT THIS MODEL. FRONT END COLLAPSING ON FRONT WHEEL AT HIGH SPEED IS GUARANTEED CATASTROPHE. IF A NUT IS RELIED ON TO RETAIN BALL JOINT, THAT NUT MUST BE POSITIVELY PREVENTED FROM LOOSENING BY HOLE THRU BOTH NUT AND BOLT, WITH COTTER PIN THROUGH HOLES. NO SUCH BASIC SAFETY IN EVIDENCE. DESIGN FLAW CATALYTIC CTS 2004 AND EARLIER MODELSA ALSO SUSPECTED. USED TO BE LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS - NOW - LOOSE NUTS KILL PEOPLE. BAD BAD BAD. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS AT 10 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE COLLAPSED. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING BEFORE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE NUT HOLDING THE BOLT OF THE LOWER FRONT BALL JOINTS WAS MISSING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND NO FURTHER PROBLEMS OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WROTE THE MANUFACTURER A LETTER PERTAINING TO THE PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED, AND HAD NOT RECEIVED A REPLY AS OF YET. *NM UPDATED 10/30/06. *JB
SO ILL START OFF WITH ABOUT COMPLAINING TO THE DEALER ABOUT MY REAR END MAKING A MOANING WHINNING SOUND. I WENT IN MORE THAN ONCE TO TELL THEM ABOUT HOW IT KEEPS GETTING LOUDER AND THAT I KNOW SOMETHING IS NOT CORRECT. I AM CURRENTLY SELLING MY CAR AND WANT IT PERFECT FOR ANYONE WHO BUYS IT. THE CADILLAC DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME THAT ALL OF THIS IS NORMAL AND THEY DO NOTHING. SO LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW IT ALL STARTS. I WAS AT A RACEWAY ROAD COURSE PRACTICING DRIVING ONE OF MY RACE CARS FOR A RACE THAT I HAVE COMING UP. MY GIRLFRIEND WANTED TO GO AROUND THE TRACK A FEW TIMES TO SEE HOW IT FELT SO I TOOK HER FOR A LITTLE RIDE IN THE CADILLAC NOTHING MORE THAN DRIVING UP A WINDEY ROAD. WE PACK UP OUR STUFF AND I LEAVE WITH MY GIRLFRIEND TO MEET MY FOLKS FOR DINNER. I STARTED DRIVING UP A FREEWAY ON RAMP AND HIT A LITTLE BIT OF WATER AS I WAS ACCELERATING THEN GET A LITTLE BIT OF WHEEL HOP AND BOOM! MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPS IN FRONT OF A BIG RIG THAT WAS ON MY TAIL THE WHOLE TIME AND I BARELY HAVE TIME TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT GETTING RAN OVER. I TRAILER MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME MY CAR WAS ABUSED! I KNEW ABOUT THE REAR ENDS AND DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE CAR AND ALL ITS PROBLEMS AND THAT IS WHY I DIDN'T WANT TO RISK DEALING WITH IT. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A HUGE HAZARD THAT CADILLAC SEEMS TO JUST BE IGNORING. THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. I KEEP THINKING ABOUT IT AND HOW IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE FOR ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT AT LEAST WE WALKED AWAY! NOW I AM SCARED FOR WHOMEVER I SELL THIS CAR TOO. SOMEONE FROM THIS WEBSITE NEEDS TO DO A GOOGLE ON ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WE ARE HAVING BECAUSE I DON'T THINK PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS WEBSITE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 20 MPH. ALSO, WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE STALLED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE TWICE AND THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY HARNESS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. *AK UPDATED 10/25/2006 - *NM
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ON MY CADILLAC CTS-V HAS FAILED TWICE IN THE 20,100 MILES THAT I HAVE DRIVEN IT. *JB
THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THIS FAILURE WERE DAILY NORMAL DRIVING. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS, THE REAR END OF MY CAR BEGAN TO EXHIBIT A WHINING SOUND WHEN ACCELERATING IN 4TH GEAR, AND THE SOUND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER. THE DIFFERENTIAL ON MY CAR WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. *NM
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IN MY 2004 CADILLAC CTS-V HAD BEEN WHINING AND GRINDING FOR ABOUT 5500 MILES (STARTING WHEN THE CAR HAD 9000 MILES ON IT). THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID HAD BEEN CHANGED THREE (3) TIMES IN 4000 MILES AND THE PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED. FINALLY, TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH 14500 MILES AND CADILLAC AGREED TO CHANGE REPLACE THE DIFFERENTIAL WITH THE 2006 PART. *JB
PREMATURE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. APX 5000 MILES PRIOR TO FAILURE THE DIFFERENTIAL BEGAN TO WHINE AND DURING TURNS, THE DIFFERENTIAL WOULD GRIND HORRIBLY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING IS TOO DIM. THIS INTERFERES WITH THE CONTACT READING THE GAUGES. THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED THIS IS THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED. *AK UPDATE 5/2/2006 - AT THE MAXIMUM SETTING THE LIGHT IS STILL NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH. *NM
MY 2004 CADILLAC CTS WAS HIT FROM BEHIND, CAUSING ME INJURIES AND EVENTUALLY SURGERY AND DISABILITY. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY- MY HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL, RATHER HARD. I TRADED THIS VEHICLE IN LAST YEAR. SHOULD THE AIR BAG HAVE DEPLOYED? I THINK IF IT HAD, I WOULD NOT HAVE SUSTAINED THE INJURIES. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND NOTICED A WHINE IN THE REAR. TOOK IT IN TO LINDSAY CADILLAC (GREAT DEALERSHIP) AND THEY ARE NOW REPLACING THE BEARINGS. I HEAR THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CTS-V'S AND I'M WORRIED ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN THE WARRANTY ENDS....*JB
SPORADIC BRAKE FAILURES ON A 2004 CADILLAC CTS. CAR HAS HAD FRONT LEFT HUB/SPEED SENSOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED 4 TIMES PER AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDATION STARTING AT <20K MILES. BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRING EVERY FEW DAYS, TYPICALLY AT LOW SPEED BUT NOW STARTING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. NEARLY RAN OVER PEDESTRIAN IN PARKING LOT. ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN AVOIDED THUS FAR. CAR IS WITH DEALERSHIP; THEY SAY ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE IS TO BLAME. CALLED GM; THEY REFUSE TO COVER COST OF REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH PROBLEM STARTED WHEN CAR WAS 19 MONTHS OLD WITH <20K MILES. *TR THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE ABS ACTIVATED AT LOW SPEEDS, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. UPDATED IVOQ 09/29/10 THE DEALER REPLACED THE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY. UPDATED 10/29/10
THE REAR END IN MY 2004 CTS BECOMES PREMATURELY UNUSABLE AFTER NORMAL USE. I AM ON MY SECOND REAR END, AND IT TO NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THREE REAR ENDS WITHIN 21,000 MILES IS PREMATURE AS WELL AS UNACCEPTABLE. *JB
VEHICLE HAS EXCESSIVE WHEEL HOP, CAUSING REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. I'VE GONE 2 TIMES FOR DIFFERENTIAL BUSHING REPLACEMENTS AND 1 REAR END REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS GONE THROUGH A TSB WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO CORRECT AXLE WHEEL HOP. STILL NO FIX THE VEHICLE STILL WHEEL HOPS. *JB
MANUAL TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR HAS CAUSED MANY NEAR ACCIDENTS. GM CLAIMS THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND REFUSES TO FIX THIS. MANY PEOPLE REPORT THIS ISSUE AND GM HAS NOT YET ADDRESSED THIS ON THE CADILLAC CTS-V. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION WHEN I CANNOT SHIFT OR GET INTO GEAR. *JB
FAILURE OF A SECOND REAR DIFFERENTIAL I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 55 MPH IN THE CENTER LANE WHEN THE REAR WENT. THE CAR SHUT DOWN FORCING ME TO PULL TO THE RIGHT IN TRAFFIC WITHOUT POWER. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED AS IT WOULD NO LONGER MOVE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED WHICH CAUSED A FRONT END COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE INJURIES SUSTAINED, HOWEVER THE SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE WAS A RECALL NHTSA # 05V024000 FOR THE AIR BAG SENSOR. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE IN A STOPPED POSITION THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED AND PUSHED INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALTHOUGH SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE THERE WERE INJURIES SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER.
I OWN A 2004 CADILLAC CTS-V. AFTER OWNING THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MONTHS, WITH APPROXIMATELY 6,000 MILES ON THE CAR, I BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE AN EXTREME WHINING NOISE FROM THE REAR-END OF THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE NOISE WAS NORMAL FOR MY VEHICLE. I CONTINUED DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND ABOUT 5 WEEKS AGO I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR EXCESSIVE NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF MY CAR. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL UNIT HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS CONCERNED ME SO I DID SOME RESEARCH. MY RESEARCH FOUND THAT MANY, MANY CTS-V OWNERS ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND THAT MY PROBLEM WAS IN NO WAY ISOLATED. I ALSO FOUND THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL UNIT USED IN THE CTS-V IS UNDERRATED AND IS NOT DESIGNED TO HANDLE THE POWER PRODUCED BY THE ENGINE FROM THE FACTORY. I AM CONCERNED THAT A FAILURE IN THE NEAR FUTURE WILL CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO SOMEONE IF NO ACTION IS TAKEN. *JB
REAR DIFFERENTIAL OF MY 2004 CADILLAC CTSV IS TOO WEAK. IT CLUNKS, AND PRODUCES EXCESSIVE WHEEL-HOP THUS NOT ALLOWING THE POWER TO TRANSFER. THE WHOLE REAR END OF THE CAR FROM THE BUSHINGS TO THE REAR CRADLE TO THE HALF SHAFTS ARE TOO WEAK FOR THE CAR. OVER 1000'S OF CTS-V'S OF THE UNDER APPROX. 4,000 PRODUCED FROM 2004-2005 HAVE HAD MAJOR ISSUES. SERVICE CENTERS CLAIM EVERYTHING IS NORMAL. MY CAR IS CONTINUALLY IN THE SHOP. GM REFUSES TO PAY FOR THESE ITEM AND I HAVE A 6YR 100K WARRANTY. SERVICE CENTERS ARE NOT EQUIPPED TO DEAL WITH THIS CAR, AND GM FAILED TO ENGINEER IT PROPERLY. IN ADDITION ALL OF MY INTERIOR PARTS RATTLE WHEN I STEP ON IT, AND SOME CONTINUE TO RATTLE DURING DAILY DRIVING. THE PAINT QUALITY OF THE EXTERIOR IS THE WORST I HAVE TO SEE YET. THERE ARE WEIRD BLOTCHES ALL OVER THE PLACE AND ARE OBVIOUSLY DUE TO POOR PAINT APPLICATION AT THE FACTORY. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS AND SO FAR HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR, THE WHOLE NAV UNIT, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. AND ALREADY, THE NAV UNIT IS BEGINNING TO SHOW THE SAME INDICATIONS OF WHY IT GOT REPLACED IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS STARTING TO MAKE NOISES AGAIN. ALSO, THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL PRODUCES LOTS OF NOISE. I HAVE HAD IT UP TO HERE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *JB
I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW ON 1/08/05. THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE A HOWLING NOISE AFTER SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES, GM TECH'S INDICATED THAT IT WAS COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THE ORIGINAL REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED AT 3220 (7/1/05) MILES DUE TO INTERNAL FAILURE OF DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY. THE HOWLING NOISE OCCURRED AGAIN AT 5.565 ( 12/08/05) MILES. AGAIN, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED AND THE REPAIR ORDER NOTED THAT IT WAS ALSO LEAKING DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. I CONTACTED SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME TYPE OF CAR AND THEY HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A RE-OCCURRING PROBLEM DUE TO A UNDER RATED DIFFERENTIAL. *JB
FUEL TANK SHOWING FULL TANK OF GAS. DRIVING NORMALLY, CAR SUDDENLY DIES, NO POWER TO STEERING OR GAS PEDAL. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD, CALLED ONSTAR, POLICE AND TOW TRUCK SUMMONED TO SCENE. TOW TRUCK TOWED ME TO NEAREST CADILLAC DEALERSHIP, CAR LEFT OVER THE WEEKEND. MONDAY MORNING DEALER CALLS TO SAY FUEL PUMP IS DEFECTIVE, AND THAT TANK WAS BONE DRY, EVEN THOUGH GAUGE WAS REPORTING 100% FULL...THIS ALL A RESULT OF THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. CAR ONLY HAS 6,200 KILOMETERS (ABOUT 3,500 MILES). FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER FUEL RANGE STILL REPORTING RIDICULOUS VALUES, JUMPS ALL OVER THE PLACE, GAUGE STILL NOT ACCURATE, AM AFRAID OF LOSING POWER AND THAT THE GAS WILL RUN OUT WITHOUT MY KNOWING IT. *NM
DIFFERENTIAL GEAR WHINE-CRACK IN CARRIER. CARRIER ASSEMBLY REPLACED BY DEALER. 43 DAYS IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. *JB
2004 CADILLAC CTS TIRE BLEW OUT. *TS THE CONSUMER SUBSEQUENTLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK ANOTHER CAR. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ACCELERATING AT 10MPH FROM A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING INJURY TO THE THREE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELTS WERE WORN AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE AGENCY DEEMED THE VEHICLE TOTALED.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT STALLED AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE GAS TANK WAS DEFECTIVE. THE GAS TANK WAS BENT, AND THE FUEL COULD NOT GET TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. *AK UPDATED 11/30/2005 - *NM

HEADLIGHTS FLICKER, ABOUT AS QUICKLY AS THE BLINK OF YOUR EYE. HAVE RETRUNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR REPAIR THE CONDITION.
THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS FINE UP UNTIL THE TIME OF CASING FAILURE. ON A RAINY NIGHT, THE CAR EXHIBITED A BIT OF WHEEL HOP INHERENT ON THAT CAR WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF THROTTLE. THE CASING SHATTERED IMMEDIATELY. THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS PROMPTLY REPLACED BY AN IDENTICAL OEM REPLACEMENT. *NM
WHEEL HOP OR AXLE TRAMP CAUSED THE REAR TO LOSE TRACTION AND THE STABILITY TRACK AND TRACTION CONTROL FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE AXLE TRAMP IS A SEVERE BANGING OF THE REAR WHEN THERE THROTTLE IS APPLIED TO THE CAR. THE REAR SPUN AND CAUSED THE CAR TO HIT A GUARD WALL.*AK

REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE/HALF DRIVESHAFT FAILURE. REAR DIFFERENTIAL CASE FRACTURE DAND BROKE IN HALF SHAFTS. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH AND ALL OF SUDDEN THE STABILITY TRACKING SYSTEM ENGAGED ON ITS OWN AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO PULL TO THE LEFT. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY CONSUMER.*AK
APRIL 2005, NOTIFIED OF TIRE DETERIORATION - 12,000 MILES ON NEW VEHICLE. JULY 2005, DEAD BATTERY WITH CAR. AUGUST 2005, CAR SHUT ITSELF DOWN WHILE ON INTERSTATE 80. UNABLE TO USE ANY AUTOMATIC EQUIPMENT. AUGUST 2005 NOTIFIED OF TIRE DETERIORATION AGAIN, 18,000 MILES. THIS IS A LOT OF PROBLEMS BOTH MECHANICAL AND WITH THE TIRES IN A RELATIVELY SHORT PERIOD. TIRES AND MECHANICAL PROBLEM I BELIEVE TO BE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT.
I PURCHASED NEW AMERICAN EAGLE GOODYEAR TIRES FOR MY 2004 CADILLAC CTS FROM WAL-MART JUST RECENTLY. I HAVE EXPERIENCED 2 SIDE WALL BLOW OUTS ON THESE TIRES, IN WHICH THE TREAD SEPERATES FROM THE SIDE WALL, AT THIS POINT THESE TIRES ARE VERY DANGEROUS TO ME AND SHOULD BE CHECKED. PLEASE ADVISE ME. *AK
THIS INCIDENT WAS THE FIRST OF 5 TIMES THAT THE TRUNK LID, WHEN COMPLETELY OPENED, BLEW SHUT ON MY HEAD. MY BOYFRIEND HAS BEEN HIT 2 TIMES. WHEN IT'S OPEN ALL THE WAY, IT'S AT AN APPROXIMATE 90 DEGREE ANGLE AND THE LEAST AMOUNT OF WIND WILL CAUSE IT TO BLOW SHUT. THE TRUNK LID ITSELF IS EXTREMELY HEAVY AND I'M FAIRLY STRONG. I ACTUALLY HAVE SCAR TISSUE ON MY HEAD FROM BEING HIT. I DIDN'T SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION BUT THERE WERE A COUPLE OF TIMES THAT I WAS ALMOST KNOCKED OUT. I LOVE MY CAR AND WOULD GET ANOTHER CADILLAC CTS IN A HEARTBEAT IF IT WASN'T FOR THIS PROBLEM.
VEHICLE HAS TWICE ACCELERATED FORWARD UPON BRAKING WHEN COMING TO A STOP. FIRST TIME WAS IN A PARKING LOT. VEHICLE WAS PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE, SLOWED TO A CRAWL WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED, THEN SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD, HITTING THE CAR PARKED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. NO DAMAGE OCCURRED, BUT EXPERIENCE VERY FRIGHTENING. SECOND TIME WAS RETURNING FROM DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND EXPERIENCED THE DEFECT. WHILE COMING TO A STOP BEHIND A GROUP OF CARS AT THE STOP LIGHT, BRAKES APPLIED TO SLOW THE CAR TO A CRAWL, THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR SURGES FORWARD. UPON SLAMMING BRAKE FULLY TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE STOPPED, MISSING HITTING THE CAR AHEAD AND STOPPED BY ONLY INCHES. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, WHICH KEPT THE CAR OVER THE WEEKEND, SUPPLYING A LOANER CAR. CALLED DEALERSHIP MONDAY AFTERNOON. TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DRIVEN A TOTAL OF 80 MILES OVER THE WEEKEND AND THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RECREATED. THE TROUBLE IS, IT WAS ALMOST 450 MILES BETWEEN THE FIRST PROBLEM OCCURRENCE AND THE SECOND ONE. THEY WERE ALMOST ONE WEEK APART. NOW I AM TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT SINCE THE COMPUTER FOUND NO DEFECTS OVER THE WEEKEND, MY CAR IS READY FOR ME TO DRIVE. I NOW HAVE A DEFECTIVE CAR WITH A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, WHICH I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE. I TOLD THEM I WANTED A PIECE OF PAPER STATING THE CAR WAS FREE OF DEFECTS, SO WHEN THIS OCCURS AGAIN, I WILL BE NOTIFYING MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND WE WILL TAKE ACTION AGAINST THIS DEALERSHIP IF ANY DAMAGE RESULTS FROM ANOTHER OCCURRENCE OF THIS TYPE. I AM ALSO GOING TO REQUEST THE DEALERSHIP TO ALLOW THE COMPUTER TO STAY HOOKED UP TO THE CAR FOR AT LEAST A WEEK WHEN I GO TOMORROW TO PICK UP THE CAR. *AK
TWO DIFFERENTIAL FAILURES IN THE FIRST YEAR AND UNDER 10,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP. CURRENTLY ON THE 3RD DIFFERENTIAL AND IT IS WHINING/LEAKING. HAVE READ SEVERAL REPORTS OF FAILED DIFFERENTIAL'S CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE ON CTS/SRX PLATFORM VEHICLES. CADILLAC DENIES THERE IS AN ISSUE. DEALERSHIP UNWILLING TO ACCEPT THE DEFECT EITHER. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE REAR END LOCKED. AS A RESULT, THE REAR END BEGAN SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TOT HE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE REAR BECAUSE OF NOISE. LESS THAN THREE MILES FROM THE DEALER THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMER HEARD NOISE AND THE REAR END LOCKED. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE DID THREE 360 DEGREE TURNS AND FINALLY CAME TO REST IN A TRUCK STOP PARKING LOT. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER AND FOUND OUT THAT THE REAR END WAS OUT OF LINE FROM THE TIME OF PURCHASED. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED ON 2 OCCASIONS. THIS IS THE THIRD TRIP BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REAR END NOISE. *BF *NM

DT: 2004 CADILLAC CTS-V, A POPPING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT WINDSHIELD, THIS HAPPENED IN ANY TYPE OF WEATHER AND AT ANY SPEED, THIS WAS THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP,. THE DEALER HEARD THE NOISE, BUT DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER TO GO AHEAD AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER DID NOT FEEL THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE NOISE FROM WINDSHIELD. *AK
THIS VEHICLE EXIBITS EXCESSIVE WHEEL HOP, WHEN UNDER HAR ACCLERATION, THE REAR SUSPENSION CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY HIT THE FRAME. THE WHEELS JUMP UP AND DOWN VIOLENTLY. SOME CARS HAVE BROKEN AXLES OR DAMAGED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THIS COULD ALSO CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH VEHICLE MOMENTARY LOST STEERING CONTROL. CONSUMER SLAMMED ON BRAKES AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FISHTAIL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE PULLING INSIDE OF A PARKING LOT THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED BACKWARDS. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND APPLIED THE BRAKES,THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE DRIVER PLACED THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY AND RAN INTO A GLASS WINDOW. NO INJURIES. BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MAJOR DIFFERENTIAL PROBLEM ON A 2004 CADILLAC CTS-V. REALLY LOUD "CLUNK" NOISE ON THE CAR DEALERS CLAIM IT'S NORMAL. DIFFERENTIAL IS UNDERRATED FOR THE HORSEPOWER THAT THE CAR OUTPUTS THEREFORE CAUSING PROBLEMS. GM DENIES CLAIMS ON PEOPLE AND CONSUMERS ARE FORCED TO SPEND OVER $3000 ON A PART THAT IS FAULTY AND WILL BREAK AGAIN. *JB
I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE OF A HIGHWAY LEADING TO AN OFF RAMP AT ABOUT 35 -40 MPH WHEN TRAFFIC STOPPED SUDDENLY. WHEN I JAMMED ON THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT UNUSUALLY LOW, THE ABS ALSO SEEMED TO FAIL RESULTING IN THE BRAKES LOCKING, CAR SKIDDING AND CONSIDERABLE STOPPING DISTANCE (WELL OVER 100FT). I HIT THE BUMPER OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND SLID INTO A CURB. CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO NOTED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS SHOT AND THE BRAKES WERE SPONGY. I'VE CONTACTED GM BUT THEY HAVE NOT YET RESPONDED TO MY COMPLAINT. *AK
2004 CADILLAC CTS. THE CAR HAS MADE A LOUD NOISE IN THE DIFFERENTIAL SINCE PURCHASED. THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE NOISE AND JERKING OF REAR WHEELS CONTINUES. I HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES THREE TIMES BECAUSE THE DEALER SAID THEY WERE THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE AND JERKING, BUT THE CONDITION STILL EXISTS. I HAVE CHECKED THE INTERNET AND INFORMATION LISTED REVEALS THE CADILLAC CTS HAS A MAJOR DEFECT IN THE DRIVE TRAIN HOWEVER GM HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED. *TR
ONSTAR SYSTEM ACTIVATED BY SAYING THAT AN "IMPACT WAS DETECTED", BUT THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME, NOR DID I HIT ANYTHING. A PERSON FROM ONSTAR CONNECTED AND ASKED IF I HAD AN ACCIDENT. I WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE WHEN THIS HAPPEN. I INFORMED THE TECHNICIAN. THIS WAS ON 8/2/04. MY CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO AN AIRBAG PROBLEM THAT IT COULD DEPLOY AT ANYTIME. THERE IS NO ESTIMATED ARRIVAL FOR THE PART. IN THE MEANTIME, I HAVE A BRAND NEW CAR THAT I CANNOT DRIVE. I WILL MOST LIKELY NOT BUY ANOTHER GM CAR/SUV DUE TO THE FACT THAT I CANNOT EVEN GET A DATE ON WHEN I WILL HAVE MY CAR BACK.
