PURCHASED VEHICLE IN 2/08; 12/10/08 - NOTICED CAR WAS WET IN FLOORBOARDS AND CEILING; SINCE 12/08, DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR VEHICLE 4 TIMES; CAR IS STILL LEAKING; DEALERSHIP REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS AND CALLED A SPECIALISTS TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM; DEALERSHIP ADMITS THEY CANNOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM; THE MANUFACTURER HAS OFFERED A TRADE OPTION TO ME WITH ME PAYING MONEY OUT OF POCKET; AT THE PRESENT TIME, I AM UNSURE WHAT THE AMOUNT WILL BE, BUT ANY AMOUNT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. *TR
LED BRAKELIGHTS ON 2002-CURRENT CADILLAC MODELS ARE TOO BRIGHT AND CAUSE TEMPORARY BLINDNESS AT NIGHT. *TR
THE ARTICULATED HEADRESTS DESIGNED TO REDUCE NECK INJURIES IN A CRASH, MOVE UP OF THEIR OWN ACCORD DURING NORMAL DRIVING. THIS RESULTS IN A SAFETY CONCERN. IF THE HEADREST MOVES UP DURING NORMAL OPERATION, WILL IT STILL FUNCTION AS DESIGNED SHOULD AN ACCIDENT OCCUR. I HAVE CONTACTED CADILLAC DIVISION TWICE WITHOUT A RESPONSE. THE SELLING DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM, BUT OTHER CASES HAVE BEEN REPORTED. *TR
VIBRATION IN CAR ABOVE 62 MILES PER HOUR. STEERING WHEEL SHAKES IN YOUR HANDS. TAKEN TO DEALER TWICE THEY HAVE ROTATED AND BALANCED TIRES TWICE NO IMPROVEMENT. *TR
CAR SOMETIMES DOESN'T RECOGNIZE ELECTRONIC KEYFOB PREVENTING ME FROM LOCKING THE IGNITION PRIOR TO EXITING THE CAR. LEAVING THE CAR WITH THE IGNITION UNLOCK IS A VIOLATION OF MANY STATES' MOTOR VEHICLE LAWS. OTHER TIMES CAR WILL NOT LET ME ENTER THE CAR OR START THE CAR BECAUSE IT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE ELECTRONIC KEYFOB. PROBLEM RECURS PERIODICALLY - SOMETIMES A FEW TIMES A WEEK OTHER TIME OPERATES FINE FOR A MONTH OR MORE. *TR
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR MOTOR VEHICLE ANALYSIS, NATIONWIDE, ON A MONTHLY OR MORE FREQUENT BASIS TO INSURE COMPLIANCE/INSPECTIONS SIMILAR TO THOSE REQUIRE FOR THE COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE HOLDER ON THE FOLLOWING AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS: (1) ELECTRICAL (2) COOLING (3) STEERING, SUSPENSION (4) TRANSMISSION (5) ENGINE (6) ENGINE (7) ALL FLUIDS FOR NON-CONTAMINATION (8) BRAKES (9) EXHAUST, EMISSIONS. PLEASE BEGIN THESE INSPECTIONS FOR 1990 - CURRENT YEAR MAKE, MODELS ON THE FOLLOWING: CADILLAC, ROLLS ROYCE, BENTLEY, BMW, MERCEDES BENZ. *TR
BRAKE SQUEAL ON MY 2008 CTS ALMOST FROM THE TIME IT LEFT THE DEALER SHOWROOM ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2008. DEALER STATES THAT CADILLAC IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THAT CADILLAC HAS YET TO AUTHORIZE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. DEALER INDICATES THAT CERAMIC BRAKES WOULD CORRECT THE SITUATION BUT ONCE AGAIN CADILLAC DOES NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT CERAMIC BRAKES FOR THE CAR. THEY HAVE THEM FOR OTHER MODELS BUT NOT THE CTS ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. *TR
A FEW WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE 2008 CADILLAC CTS THE BRAKES BEGAN SQUEAKING EVERY TIME THEY WERE APPLIED. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID TO RIDE THE BRAKES WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY TO CLEAN OFF THE METAL FILINGS ON THE BRAKE ROTORS DUE TO BRAKE DUST. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. BRAKES HAVE CONTINUED TO SQUEAK FOR MONTHS DESPITE RIDING BRAKES ON OPEN HIGHWAYS. *TR
MY 2008 CADILLAC CTS V6 DI AWD HAS A DANGEROUS ACCELERATION LAG WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS TO PASS OR GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A HAZARD IN ROAD. THERE IS ABOUT A 1-2 SEC LAG BETWEEN STEPPING ON PEDAL AND RPMS MOVING, AND ABOUT ANOTHER SECOND OR SO BEFORE ANY PICK UP HAPPENS. DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MUCH, BUT NO OTHER CAR I HAVE HAD, DID THIS. AT THE SPEED OF ONCOMING VEHICLES, A 1-2 SECOND LAG CAN MEAN A 30 - 60 YARDS OF DISTANCE BEING TRAVELED BY AN ONCOMING CAR OR TRUCK. THAT SIGHT FILLS UP REAR VIEW MIRROR FAST. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW AND POTENTIALLY DEATH CAUSING DEFECT. THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME I NEED QUICK ACCELERATION, AND IS ALSO HAPPENING IN OTHER CARS I TRIED AT DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF IT WAS JUST MINE. *TR
DRIVING UP A HILL IN PA. WE WERE ON STATE HIGHWAY 118 NEAR SWEET VALLEY PA. CAR BUCKED AND JERKED VIOLENTLY. CAR STOPPED RUNNING IN MIDDLE OF ROADWAY WITH TRAFFIC BACKED UP BEHIND ME. EVENTUALLY CARS WORKED THEIR WAY BY ME AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT CAR BACK TO A PLACE WHERE I COULD GET IT OFF THE ROAD AND OUT OF THE WAY. VERY HARROWING EXPERIENCE. VERY UNSAFE. CAR WAS TOWED IN AS IT WOULD NOT RESTART. TOW TRUCK DRIVER ALSO TRIED TO RESTART TO MOVE CAR TO OPTIMUM PLACE TO PUT CAR ON FLATBED. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER DIAGNOSIS THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT: CAR ONLY HAD 3 GALLONS OF GAS IN TANK AND THIS WAS NOT ENOUGH TO GET UP HILL. GAS GAUGE SHOWED BETWEEN 1/8 TO 1/4 OF TANK. NO LOW FUEL LIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT THAT IT COULD. AFTER RETURNING TO MY HOME IN FL I TOOK IT TO THE SELLING DEALER. THEY CALLED CADILLAC AND CADILLAC AGREED WITH BOTH DEALERSHIPS THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG BUT THAT DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE GAS TANK, THE CAR COULD STALL GOING UP A HILL AT ANY TIME UNLESS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS WAS IN THE TANK. THEY WOULD NOT DEFINE SIGNIFICANT. THEY SAID THAT GAS HAD SLOSHED TO THE REAR OF THE GAS TANK AND THE GAS PICKUP WAS SUCKING AIR. THEY SAY THAT AFTER CAR WAS TOWED 30 MILES ON A FLATBED GAS SLOSHED TO THE FRONT OF TANK AND ENGINE COULD BE STARTED. THEY SAID THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THIS IS A VERY, VERY UNSAFE CONDITION. THE GUY BEHIND US ALMOST HIT US AS WE DECELERATED RAPIDLY. AND THEN A WHOLE LINE OF CARS ALMOST COLLIDED. CADILLAC SAYS THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE. I SAY THAT SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO PROTECT DRIVERS OF ALL 2008 CADILLAC CTS. *TR
I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY LET ME GO WITH THE ABS LIGHT ON AND THE STABILITY TRACK LIGHT ON. IF I KNEW THE THAT THIS CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE WITH THESE SAFETY FIXTURES OUT I WOULD HAVE NEVER PICKED UP THE CAR. *TR
BRAKES SCREECH WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THEY HAVE DONE THIS SINCE SHORTLY AFTER DELIVERY OF CAR WHICH IS ALMOST ONE YEAR AGO. FIRST TIME THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS THE SERVICE WRITER INFORMED ME THIS WAS "NORMAL" AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. ANOTHER SERVICE WRITER VALIDATED THE COMPLAINT AND REPLACED REAR BRAKE PADS. SEEMED TO BE BETTER FOR A VERY SHORT TIME, BUT IT STARTED AGAIN AND CONTINUES. HAVE CONTINUED TO INFORM DEALER OF THIS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS SERVICED WITHOUT RESOLUTION. *TR
BRAKES SQUEALING. TECHNICIAN SAYS IT'S DEFECTIVE BRAKE PADS AND GM IS AWARE. NO GET WELL DATE. RIGHT FRONT STRUT HAD TO BE REPLACED, STILL MAKES THE SAME CREAKING NOISE. *TR
PURCHASED 2008 CTS UPON DRIVING CAR HOME I NOTICED A VIBRATION. TOOK BACK TO DEALER NEXT DAY. HAD TO WAIT 3 WEEKS TO GET SERVICE ON VEHICLE AND FOUND OUT AT THAT TIME THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS CAR AND THE DEALER IS NOT TO TRY TO FIX CAR. WENT TO GM AND THEY AGREED TO CHANGE TIRES BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, THE VIBRATION CONTINUED. TRYING TO COME TO SOME SORT OF AGREEMENT WITH GM AND AFTER 9 MONTHS, NOTHING. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER FOR TIRE ROTATION AND REQUESTED "ROAD FORCE BALANCE" AND THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE. THE VIBRATION STARTS AT 40MPH AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS SHAKING. THE PROBLEM IS EITHER WITH THE WHEELS OR THE TIRES. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 CADILLAC CTS. I HAVE A VIBRATION OR SHIMMY IN MY STEERING WHEEL AT ABOUT 65 MPH, NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO BALANCE TIRES. TWO NEW TIRES WERE INSTALLED AND ROADFORCE BALANCED. STILL NOT RESOLVED. I HAVE SEEN QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 CTS, WITH NO ADVANCE NOTICE, THE ENGINE JUST DIED. IT SEEMED TO RUN OUT OF GAS. MY FUEL GAUGE READ BETWEEN 1/2 TO 3/4 FULL. THIS HAPPENED 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. ALL 3 TIMES I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM. ALL 3 TIMES I GOT DIFFERENT REASONS IT HAPPENED, FROM BAD FUEL PUMP IN GAS TANK, TO SOME TYPE OF BAD CONNECTION, ETC. AFTER THIS HAPPENED THE 3RD TIME, I DEMANDED A NEW CAR, WHICH I RECEIVED. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS CTS, RUNS GREAT. *TR
TWICE ,WHILE DRIVING MY WIFE'S 2008 CADILLAC CTS, MY FOOT HAS WEDGED BOTH ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE PEDAL CAUSING ME TO PROCEED FORWARD WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE. THE FIRST @, 6 MOS AGO ,CAUSED ME TO PROCEED INTO AN INTERSECTION NARROWLY BEING MISSED BY A VEHICLE COMING FROM MY LEFT. THE 2ND OCCURRED @ 1 WEEK AGO CAUSING ME TO JUST MISS HITTING A CAR PARKED IN FRONT . MY WIFE HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT @ 6 MOS AGO WHILE BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. I HAVE REPORTED BOTH INCIDENTS TO CADILLAC WITH NO FURTHER COMMUNICATION FROM THEM. THEY GAVE ME THIS SITE WHEN I REQUESTED AN AGENCY TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM SO I MIGHT HELP OTHERS AVOID BEING INJURED. I WILL NOT DRIVE MY WIFE'S CAR IN THE FUTURE DUE TO THE ABOVE INCIDENTS AND THE FEAR OF A MORE ONEROUS OUTCOME WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CADILLAC CTS. WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT STRUCK THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE FRONT BUMPER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 1,500.
@ 6,000 MILES ON MY 2008 CADILLIAC THE VEH.'S ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE SERVICE CENTER & THEY STATED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD AND CAM SHAFT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NEW CTS'S. I HAVE NOT HEARD OR READ ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. CAN YOU ADVISE IF THERE IS A RECALL? THANKS... *TR
ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON - DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A STRETCHED / LOOSE TIMING CHAIN. DEALER REPORTED 1,000S OF 2008 CADILLAC CTSS WITH THE 3.6L DY ENGINE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. NHTSA SHOULD INVEST PROBLEM SINCE HOW THE TIMING CHAIN FAILS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
2008 CADILLAC CTS BLIND SPOT IN SIDE MIRRORS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SIDE MIRRORS CREATE A BLIND SPOT. HE STATES THAT THE A PILLAR MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE IF THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE CROSSWALK WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE FLAW IS A BLIND SPOT RESULTING FROM THE PLACEMENT AND SIZE OF THE SIDE MIRRORS AND THE SIZE OF THE A PILLAR. *JB
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON MY 2008 CADILLAC CTS. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP. ISSUE APPEARS TO BE A CYLINDER HEAD AND CAM FAILURE. STILL NOT REPAIRED. VEHICLE STILL IN SHOP SINCE 2/26,VEHICLE HAS 2600 MILES ON IT. 4MONTHS OLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THERE WAS AN ACCUMULATION OF WATER ON THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE FLOOR BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER IN TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SUN ROOF HAD TO BE REALIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,990.
THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TOO CLOSE TO THE GAS PEDAL. THE DRIVER CAN HIT THEM BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. THE DEFECT CAUSED ONE ACCIDENT AND I HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS. GM HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING AND HAS REFUSED TO PUT ITS REFUSAL IN WRITING. *TR
