TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CADILLAC CTS. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL NUMBER: 10287. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO ELCO CADILLAC (15110 MANCHESTER RD, BALLWIN, MO 63011, (363) 227-5333) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND THE "TIMING CHAIN" MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,053.
I HAD A RECALL OR 'EXTENDED PARTS WARRANTY' FOR A TIMING CHAIN ON MY 2008 CADILLAC CTS AND WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT 115,000 MILES IN 2015, MY CAR NOW HAS 130,000 MILES ON IT AND THE TIMING CHAIN IS BROKE AGAIN! I PUT ONLY 15,000 MILES ON THE CAR SINCE THE TIMING CHAIN WAS 'FIXED'. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO WORK WITH ME OR GIVE ME A PHONE NUMBER TO A GM REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE TO TALK ABOUT MY OPTIONS. I FEEL THE CAR WAS NOT FIXED PROPERLY OR WAS FIXED WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. I WOULD LIKE SOME INFORMATION ON WHAT I CAN DO TO FIGHT THIS THERE IS NO REASON A RECALLED PART SHOULD FAIL JUST 15,000 AFTER BEING FIXED.

CAR HAS FAILED EMISSION TESTING FOR 2 CONSECUTIVE YEARS SINCE I PURCHASED IT. AFTER DRIVING FOR THE BETTER PART OF A YEAR I TOOK IT TO A DEALER IN 2018 AND EXPLAINED THAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF PERSISTENTLY. THEY TESTED EMISSIONS AND SAID IT PASSED. AGAIN IN 2019 IT FAILED EMISSIONS AGAIN AND THE DEALER PROVIDED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH INDICATED THAT TIME CHAINS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR $3900.00. ALTHOUGH I LOVED THE CAR OVERALL AT THE TIME I DECIDED TO OWN, , MY DREAM CAR CADILLAC CTS HAS TURNED INTO MY DREAM NIGHTMARE. CADILLAC CTS 3.6 2008 WHEN I GET ON IT A LITTLE BIT ACCELERATION IT MAKES A SOUND THAT SOUNDS LIKE ALL AIR LEAKS INSIDE THE CAR. THE DEALER WAS REPORTED EVER SINCE MY FIRST EARLY VISIT TO SERVICE CENTER BUT IT'S ONLY DURING MY LAST VISIT TO THE DEALER THEY MENTIONED GM HAS SANCTIONED APPROVAL IE. AT THE TIME THE ODOMETER READS 65000KM? STRANGE! THE DOOR LOCKS ARE TERRIBLE?DESPITE RECTIFYING; TIME AND AGAIN BY YOUR DEALER THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST TO DATE. SAFETY HAZARD INDEED. THE COMPUTER HAD ERROR AS FOR TYRE LOW AIR PRESSURE VERY BAD ON SAFETY STANDARDS. ON 12TH AUG 2012 WHILE I WAS EN-ROUTE TO THE CADILLAC SERVICE CENTER THE VEHICLE HAD A BREAK DOWN. ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN NEAR ODOMETER IT DISPLAYED ENGINE TEMPERATURE TOO HIGH ?. DUE TO THIS I HAD TO PULL THE CAR TOWARDS SAFETY AND GOT STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD UNDER THE HOT SUN. HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY A CAR WHICH IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED BY YOUR AUTHORIZED AGENCY AT REGULAR PERIODIC INTERVALS TO HAVE SUCH A FATE? I FELT IT WAS GOOD TO HAVE IT SERVICED DURING MY ABSENCE IN TOWN BEFORE THE REGULAR KM INTERVAL; BUT, ONLY TO GET STRANDED ON THE ROAD IN THE HOT SUN. SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE IT STARTED SHUTTING OFF WHILE IN MOTION. THIS HAPPENS UNEXPECTEDLY, AND MOSTLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP LIGHT OR TO REDUCE SPEED. THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE, WHICH HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO GENERAL MOTORS, WHO INFORMED US TO TAKE IT A NUMBER OF DEALERSHIPS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT ALL SERVICES PERFORMED HAS PROVEN FUTILE. MY FAMILY HAS HAD MANY CLOSE DEATH EXPERIENCES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT GENERAL MOTORS REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE MATTER IN DEPTH. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL LAW FIRMS FOR ASSISTANCE, BUT ALL REFUSE TO HELP BECAUSE NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED OR DIED AS A RESULT PROBLEM. I HAVE A CADILLAC 2008 CTS WITH 24,000 MILES ON IT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER. THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE SELLING DEALER, DON MASSEY CADILLAC. PROBLEM: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR IN. MY LOCAL DEALER, ALLEN CADILLAC IN MONROE MICHIGAN STATED THERE WERE TWO PROBLEMS. THE TIMING CHAIN WAS STRETCHED ACCORDING TO THEN AND THE CAM AND CRANK SHAFT WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY IN SERVICE. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE TECH THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2008 CADILLAC CTS AND THAT DEALER HAD SEEN OVER A DOZEN CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO DON MASSEY CADILLAC (SELLING DEALER), THERE WERE SIX OTHER CTS CARS IN FOR SERVICE AT THE SAME TIME AS MINE. ALTHOUGH GM IS SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS UNDER WARRANTY, WHY HAVE THEY NOT ISSUES A RECALL? THIS IS AN OVER $50,000 CAR WITH 24,000 MILES ON IT AND IT WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE ENGINE REBUILT. THIS IS THE SECOND MAJOR REPAIR TO THIS CAR. THIS PAST DECEMBER, A CLIP THAT HOLDS THE WIRING HARNESS IN PLACE SNALLED AND THE WIRING HARNESS GOT WOUND UP AROUND THE FAN AND WAS TORN TO SHREDS AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. WITH THIS MANY MAJOR PROBLEM ON A CAR WITH 24,000 MILES (I PUT ON ALL 24,000 OF THOSE MILES), WHAT IS IN STORE FOR BE WHEN THE CAR HAS 34,000, 44,000 AND BEYOND MILES ON IT?*TR
MY 2008 CADILLAC CTS V6 DI AWD HAS A DANGEROUS ACCELERATION LAG WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS TO PASS OR GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A HAZARD IN ROAD. THERE IS ABOUT A 1-2 SEC LAG BETWEEN STEPPING ON PEDAL AND RPMS MOVING, AND ABOUT ANOTHER SECOND OR SO BEFORE ANY PICK UP HAPPENS. DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MUCH, BUT NO OTHER CAR I HAVE HAD, DID THIS. AT THE SPEED OF ONCOMING VEHICLES, A 1-2 SECOND LAG CAN MEAN A 30 - 60 YARDS OF DISTANCE BEING TRAVELED BY AN ONCOMING CAR OR TRUCK. THAT SIGHT FILLS UP REAR VIEW MIRROR FAST. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW AND POTENTIALLY DEATH CAUSING DEFECT.
