TL*THE CONTACT RENTED A 2010 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL WITHOUT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYING. THE CONTACT CALLED THE POLICE BECAUSE THE DRIVER WAS NOT RESPONDING INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE EMT REMOVED THE DRIVER FROM THE VEHICLE AND HE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE DRIVER DIED AT THE HOSPITAL DUE TO BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA. THE MANUFACTURER RECOVERED INFORMATION FROM THE BLACK BOX AND IT REVEALED THAT THE DRIVER WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL TOGETHER. THE CONTACT FEELS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE DRIVER PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
CADILLAC CTS WAS RENTED, OCT 1, 2009, AT 9:00 PM, AT CHARLOTTE AIRPORT. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CTS HOME ON JOSH BIRMINGHAM PARKWAY. I WAS BEHIND HIM IN OUR CAR. WE WERE BOTH ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD, NEAR THE OLD DOWD ROAD OVERPASS. MY HUSBAND SIGNALED ME THAT HE WAS MOVING TO THE SHOULDER TO STOP. I WAS RIGHT BEHIND HIM, ON THE SHOULDER. HE SLOWED TO LESS THAN 5MPH. I SAW HIS BRAKE LIGHTS. BUT, HIS CAR DIDN'T STOP. IT CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD AT A WEIRDLY SLOW SPEED. BRAKES? THEN SLOWLY, AT A VERY SLIGHT ANGLE, THE RIGHT TIRE ROLLED OFF THE SHOULDER. THE REAR TIRES FOLLOWED. STEERING? OFF-ROAD, IT CROSSES THE DITCH TO THE RIGHT. HIS LEFT FRONT TIRE HITS AN ALUMINUM BARRICADE. THE END IS BURIED INTO THE GROUND. THE CTS TURNED VIOLENTLY TO THE LEFT. WHEELS STRADDLED THE RAILING, "RIDING" IT. IT LURCHED AS THE UNDERCARRIAGE HIT EACH POST. SPARKS SHOWERED DOWN. ONCE ALL THE TIRES WERE OFF THE GROUND, THE CTS CAME TO A STOP. THE WHEELS WERE STILL TURNING, AS I WALKED UP TO HIS DOOR. MY HUSBAND WAS SLUMPED OVER AND UNRESPONSIVE. HIS SEATBELT WAS ON. AIRBAGS? THEY HAD NOT DEPLOYED. I CALLED 911. 10 MINUTES LATER FIRE, EMT AND POLICE ARRIVED. I WAS IN SHOCK, SO THE POLICE REPORT HAD MAJOR ERRORS. IT CLAIMS THE CAR "ROLLED-OVER." NO! CLAIMS THE CAR LEFT THE ROAD AT 45MPH AND HIT THE BARRICADE. NO! THAT HIS DEATH WAS CAUSED BY AN UNRELATED MEDICAL CONDITION. NO! THE CORONER'S OFFICIAL REPORT CLEARLY STATES THE CAUSE OF DEATH WAS DUE TO "BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA FROM THE ACCIDENT".) THE POLICE OFFICER WHO WROTE THE OFFICIAL REPORT WENT ON VACATION FOR WEEKS. REPORT WAS NEVER CORRECTED BY ME. GM ANALYZED SDM DATA (DEC 2009). THEIR DATE FOR THE ACCIDENT WAS WRONG, NOV 1, 2009. THEY CLAIM THE SDM EXONERATES THE CADILLAC CTS. THEY BLAMED THE ACCIDENT ON OPERATOR ERROR. I KNOW MY HUSBAND WAS AN EXCEPTIONALLY SAFE DRIVER, EXPERT MECHANIC AND AVID CAR ENTHUSIAST FOR 50 YEARS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CADILLAC CTS. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE AT 2 MPH, THE REAR PARKING ASSIST INDICATOR ILLUMINATED RED IN COLOR. AFTERWARDS, THE INDICATOR RETURNED TO ITS CORRECT SETTING. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AL SERRA CADILLAC (6201 SAGINAW RD, GRAND BLANC, MI 48439) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BUMPER HARNESS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
EVER SINCE I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY 2009 CTS THE BRAKES HAVE SQUEALED. CADILLAC DEALER REPLACED BRAKE PADS BUT SAID CADILLAC IS AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT HAS NO REMEDY AS YET. THIS IS OCCURRING ON A DAILY BASIS WITH NO REMEDY OR CONTACT FROM THE DEALER OR CADILLAC WHEN TO EXPECT A FIX. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE IN THE REAR BRAKES IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO RESURFACED THE ROTORS. WITHIN TWO DAYS, THE SQUEALING NOISE RECURRED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND NEW ROTORS WERE INSTALLED IN THE REAR. AFTER A WEEK, BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES BEGAN MAKING A SQUEALING NOISE. HE CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR IT AGAIN BECAUSE IT HAD NOT BEEN AUTHORIZED BY THE MANUFACTURER. HE HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO-DATE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,200. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2.
2009 CADILLAC CTS *GR THE CONSUMER STATED FROM TIME TO TIME, WHILE WAITING FOR A RED LIGHT TO CHANGE WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SURGE INTO THE INTERSECTION ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR WHEN PARKING AND SHIFTING FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SURGE FORWARD. THE CONSUMER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO TURN THE IGNITION ON. ON THREE OCCASIONS, HE HAD TO CALL FOR ASSISTANCE. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2009 CADILLAC CTS4, I JUST RECENTLY HAD A TIRE BLOW OUT DUE TO ROAD HAZARD WHICH MADE THE TIRE NOT REPAIRABLE. WHEN I PULLED OVER TO PUT THE SPARE ON I DISCOVERED THERE WAS NO SPARE NO JACK NO LUG WRENCH.,.BUT JUST AN ELECTRIC TIRE PUMP AND A SEAL KIT IN THE WHEEL WELL. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY A FEW BLOCKS FROM HOME BUT MY POINT IS I COULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITH NOTHING TO TEMPORARILY FIX/REPLACE THE BAD TIRE. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY THEY ORDERED A TIRE AND REPLACED IT.I QUESTIONED WHY NO SPARE AND THEY COULD NOT ANSWER,JUST SAID "THAT'S GM FOR YOU" THEY SAID THEY COULD ORDER A SPARE TIRE KIT FOR $340.00 WHICH I DID AND JUST REC'D TODAY. WITH THAT BEING SAID,MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN THEY SELL A CAR WITHOUT A SPARE,JACK,LUG WRENCH??? EVERY NEW CAR I HAVE PURCHASED OVER THE LAST 30 PLUS YEARS HAS ALWAYS HAD A SPARE!!.ISN'T IT REQUIRED UNDER DOT REGS. *TR THANK YOU
2009 CADILLAC CTS HAS BRAKE PROBLEMS. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE CONSUMER WENT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, BECAUSE HE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR VIBRATED OUT OF POSITION. THE DEALER FOUND A CLIP BROKEN INSIDE THE MIRROR HOUSING. *JB
ULTRA VIEW SUN ROOF IMPLODES ON I95 AT 55 MILES A HOUR ON 5 DAY OLD 2009 CADILLIAC CTS. *TR
VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL, FLOOR AND SEATS. ALSO A THUMPING SOUND COMING FROM TIRES DURING THE FIRST FEW MILES OF DRIVING. AT TIMES THE VIBRATION IS SO BAD YOU CAN SEE THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED TWO OF THE OEM MICHELIN TIRES WHICH DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEN THEY FORCE ROAD BALANCED THE TIRES A COUPLE OF TIMES, AGAIN DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP NOW STATING THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
TOOK MY CAR IN BECAUSE THE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING WHEN CAR IS OFF. ( I COULD ONLY HERE IT WHEN IN THE GARAGE. THIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED. THEY REPLACED WATER PUMP 2 YEARS IN A ROW. THIS YEAR THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THEY SAID IT WAS THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING. THEY REPLACED IT BUT DID NOT TEST DRIVE IT. I PUT IT ON THE FREEWAY AND GOT A BURNING SMELL WITH BLACK SMOKE AND A NOISE. TOOK IT BACK THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE THEY WERE CLOSED. HE WOULD NOT TAKE MY CAR BACK TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HE TOLD ME HE DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CARS. HE JUST WORK THE DESK. HE SAID IF YOU HERE A NOISE BRING IT BACK. SEVERAL DAYS LATER I HEARD A NOISE BUT IT DID NOT SOUND LIKE THE SAME NOISE. SOUND LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE. THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING AND A HOSE OR SOMETHING. I ASKED THE MANAGER WHY WOULD THEY REPLACE IT WHEN I ALREADY PAID FOR ONE JUST A MONTH OR SO EARLIER. HE COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ANSWER. THEN SEVERAL DAYS LATER I NOTICED I HAD A LEAK. THIS TIME THEY SAID I NEEDED A HEAD GASKET. AT THIS POINT I AM TRYING TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE GIVE ME THEIR OPINION. IT HAS 60,000 MILES I MADE A BIG MISTAKE AND FORGOT TO ASK FOR THE OLD PART. BUT HAD HE LOOKED AT MY CAR WHEN IT WAS SMOKING I WOULD NOT BE GOING THROUGH THIS RIGHT KNOW I FEE.
HEAVY VIBRATION AND LOW PITCH HUM AT APPROX. 45MPH. *TR
WHEN DRIVING A 2009 CADILLAC CTS THE CAR GENERATES A DRONE, BOOM AND VIBRATION. THIS HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING TO OR DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM HAS BEEN WITH THIS CAR SINCE I TOOK DELIVERY FROM THE CADILLAC DEALER. GM HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN (#08-07-30-044B) TO INSTALL RUBBER INSULATORS AND REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THIS "FIX" DID NOT HELP. IT ONLY MOVED THE ONSET OF THE VIBRATION TO A HIGHER RPM/SPEED. WHEN THE VIBRATION OCCURS THE CAR DOES NOT FEEL SAFE. I AM NOT SURE IF A MECHANICAL COMPONENT IS GOING TO FAIL. THE DRONE IS CONSTANT, DISTRACTING AND ANNOYING WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS ALSO A BOOM NOISE AT 5 MPH WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THIS IS NOT A SMOOTH QUIET SAFE CAR. THE CADILLAC SERVICE MGR SAYS HE DOES NOT HEAR ANYTHING. I DO NOT AGREE. CADILLAC ALSO SAYS THE NOISES ARE INHERENT IN THE VEHICLE AND HAVE NO FIX. THEY ARE MAKING NO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE CAR AT THIS TIME. *TR

2009 CADILLAC CTS 3.6 DIRECT INJECT ENGINE. STARTING AT 700 MILES VEHICLE STARTED SHUDDERING BETWEEN 40-75 M.P.H. PER GM THEY ARE AWARE OF THE DESIGN FLAW BUT THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FIX FOR THIS ENGINEERING ISSUE. *TR
LTR FWD FM ON BEHALF OF (NC) RE DEFECTIVE BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH HER CADILLAC PER CADILLAC'S DOCUMENT ID #2220774, #PIC4979B. *TGW 2009 CADILLAC CTS. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE CONSUMER RETURNED FROM OUT OF TOWN TRIPS TO FIND SHE WAS UNABLE TO GAIN ENTRY TO OR START THE VEHICLE. ON EACH OCCASION, THE VEHICLE REMAINED PARKED IN THE GARAGE OF HER RESIDENCE FOR A PERIOD OF TWO TO THREE WEEKS RESPECTIVELY. EACH INCIDENT REQUIRED ROADSIDE SERVICE TO TRANSPORT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE MALFUNCTION SEEMED TO BE BEYOND THE EXPERTISE OF THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INSTALLED A TRICKLE CHARGER TO PREVENT THE CONDITION, WHILE THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX, LEAVING AN ELECTRICAL DEVICE CONNECTED TO THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE WHILE AWAY WAS A SAFETY CONCERN. *JB
