2008 CADILLAC ESCALADE. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE SUDDENLY CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED WHILE TRAVELING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ON JUNE 30, 2011, HIS WIFE PICKED THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALER AFTER HAVING THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID HEATER RECALL PERFORMED, A INOPERATIVE LOCK ON ONE OF THE DOORS FIXED AND AN EVALUATION OF THE DVD SYSTEM THAT WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THE DEALER CLAIMED THE RECALL WAS FIXED. HOWEVER, WITHIN 24 HOURS THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE INVESTIGATOR WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE, BECAUSE OF THE EXTENSIVE FIRE DAMAGE WITHIN THE DASHBOARD AND THE LACK OF PHYSICAL EVIDENCE. AN ELECTRICAL CAUSE, COULD NOT BE ELIMINATED. *JB
2008 CADILLAC ESCALADE. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEASED AND THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC OR BURNING WIRES AND TURNED THE CAR INTO THE DEALER. CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL FOR HEATED WASHER FLUID SYSTEM. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UP TO 80 MPH INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECREASE IN SPEED. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND MOVED FROM THE ROADWAY WHERE HE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE IN OLDER MODEL VEHICLE BUT NOT THE 2008 MODEL. THE DEALER CONTRIBUTED THE FAILURE TO THE THROTTLE BODY. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SECOND ROW SEATS DID NOT LOCK IN THE UP POSITION AND WHEN SHE DROVE, THE SEATS WOULD FALL BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SEATS WERE DESIGNED THAT WAY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000. MY 2008 CADILLAC ESCALADE EXT HIT ON DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL AND DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, I HAVE TWO CURTAIN AIRBAGS ON THIS SIDE AND THEY DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH OF MY FRONT WHEELS WERE DETACHED DUE TO THE IMPACT OF A MID-SIZE MINI VAN AT A RATE OF OVER 40 MILES PER HR. JUST A CAUSE FOR CONCERN SINCE THE SENSOR WAS LOCATED IN THE AREA OF THE IMPACT. WAS INFORMED BY A LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT A SIMILAR MAKE & MODEL HAD BOTH CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOY DUE TO OWNER SIMPLY RUNNING A 6INCH CURB. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE TROUBLE CODE CAUSES ENGINE POWER REDUCED TO 10%. WHEN THE GM COMPUTER GETS A C1214 TROUBLE CODE, THE FACTORY PROGRAM REDUCES ENGINE POWER TO 10%. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT LET YOU GO MORE THAN 30 MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY DEFECT, WHO CARES IF THE STABILITY/TRACTION CONTROL IS INOPERATIVE, THERE IS NO REASON TO IMPERIL THE OCCUPANTS WITH A VEHICLE THAT WILL NOT GET OUT OF ITS OWN WAY. I OWN AND HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES WITHOUT STABILITY/TRACTION CONTROL AND AFTER 1,000,000 MILES I HAVE YET TO END UP SIDE DOWN! YOU NEED FORCE GM TO CORRECT THIS LINE OF COMPUTER CODE TO ALLOW REASONABLE PERFORMANCE. *TR
CONSUMER REQUESTS A STOLEN BAG AND OVER CHARGE FROM AIRLINES *TGW THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER RECALIBRATED THE TIRE SENSOR MONITORS. UPDATED 11/15/10 UPDATED 11/19/10 THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS CLOUDY WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DETERMINED THE ENGINE AND GASKET FAILED DUE TO A PIN HOLE THAT CAUSED THE OIL TO LEAK OUT. UPDATED 12/01/10 UPDATED 02/08/11
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CADILLAC ESCALADE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A WEEK PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE RADIO BEGAN TO TURN ON AND OFF. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 9,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CADILLAC ESCALADE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 TO 70 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS; THERE WAS AN UNINTENDED FORCEFUL ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE DRIVER MANUALLY SHIFTED GEARS INTO THE "NEUTRAL" POSITION. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL; SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE RESUMED TO NORMAL OPERATION. THERE WERE THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS THAT THE IDENTICAL FAILURES OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE VEHICLE IS NOT BEING DRIVEN AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
THE AUTOMATIC ADJUSTABLE PEDALS RESET AND MOVED INTO THERE START POSITION, WHICH MY WIFE CANT REACH. SHE COULD NOT REACH THE PEDALS AND I TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, LIGHT RAIN, ABOUT 50 DEGREES, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF, NAVIGATION/RADIO OFF, LIGHTS OFF. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, LOST AND REGAINED CONTROL OF VEHICLE. HAPPENED WITH DEPUTY SHERIFF DIRECTLY BEHIND HER. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THE CAR HAS SHUT OFF UNINTENTIONALLY. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND CADILLAC CAME OUT AND CHANGED BATTERY. THIS TIME WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE DEALER REFUSED TO CHECK TSB'S. SAID THERE WERE TOO MANY. *TR
EXTREMELY BRIGHT HEADLIGHTS ON MANY NEWER VEHICLES CAUSE A HAZARDOUS CONDITION FOR ONCOMING VEHICLES. THESE LIGHTS ARE SO BRIGHT THAT THEY TEMPORARILY BLIND THE PERSON ON THE ONCOMING LANE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE IN RAINY CONDITIONS. *TR

BLUE TINTED DRIVING/HEADLIGHTS ON NEWER CARS AND REPLACEMENT ON OLDER CARS. *TR
LIGHTING WE OWN TWO ESCALADES FROM 2008 AND HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM IN BOTH CARS. CONDENSATION IN THE HEADLIGHTS AND BURN THEM OUT WE WERE QUOTED $1,000 FOR EACH HEADLIGHT TO FIX MIN!!! HEATED SEATS ARE OUT IN BOTH TRUCKS RIMS ARE PITTED AND PEALING. HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE RIMS WEEKS AFTER ROLLING OUT OF THE SHOWROOM SO DISAPPOINTED
THE VEHICLE TOTALLY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. ALL POWER, ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL, IS LOST THEREBY CREATING A HIGH RISK OF A COLLISION AND INJURY. GM/CADILLAC HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THIS ONGOING PROBLEM/ DEFECT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CADILLAC ESCALADE. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AT 5 MPH, THE CONTACT STRUCK A POLE. THE PARKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM (LIGHTS AND CHIMES) WAS DEFECTIVE AND DID NOT WORK. HE NOTICED THE POLE IN THE REAR BACK-UP CAMERA, BUT DID NOT KNOW THAT THE PARKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM DID NOT WORK AT THE TIME. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE REAR BUMPER. GENERAL MOTORS REPAIRED THE SYSTEM AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE DAMAGE WAS HIS RESPONSIBILITY. HE IS CURRENTLY WAITING FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEFECT HAS SINCE BEEN REPAIRED BUT FEELS THE MANUFACTURER IS AT FAULT DUE TO THE FAULTY UTILITY ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM AND WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COST OF THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE ACCIDENT WAS THE CONSUMER'S FAULT.
