WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR OF MY 2006 CADILLAC SRX, THERE IS NO RESPONSE. THE TRACTION CONTROL MONITOR LIGHTS UP ON THE RADIO SUGGESTING AN ISSUE. UPON LETTING OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND DEPRESSING AGAIN THE ENGINE IS VERY SLUGGISH AND PUTS ALL DRIVING AND IN THE CAR AT POTENTIAL RISK FOR A COLLISION. THE RADIO ALSO LIGHTS UP SHOWING THAT THE CARS SPEED IS LIMITED TO 80MPH. THE CONDITION OCCURS IN ALL SEASONS AND ALL WEATHER AND IS VERY RANDOM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THIS TIME, AGAIN THE DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE SITUATION AND IS ATTEMPTING TO FIX THE REPORTED CONDITION BY USING A DIELECTRIC LUBRICANT ON THE WIRING CONNECTIONS. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO GO AWAY FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME BY TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT. I FEEL AS IF EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE I'M PUTTING MY FAMILY AND MYSELF AT RISK IN THE EVENT THE ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OR TURN. *TR
POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK ON DRIVEWAY. WE KNEW WHAT IT WAS BECAUSE OUR OTHER SRX HAD BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. TOOK INTO GMC SERVICE 3 OR 4 TIMES TO HAVE SEALS REPLACED. BOTH OF OUR 2006 SRX'S HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WE KEEP STEERING FLUID IN OUR HOUSE JUST IN CASE WE NEED IT. *TR
WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ON MY 2006 CADILLAC SRX THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES AND THE RADIO DISPLAYS TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. IT HAPPENS ON TAKE OFF FROM A RED LIGHT, WHEN TURNING, GOING OVER SPEED BUMPS AND ALWAYS AT LOW SPEED. I HAVE HAD THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY CAN ONLY FIX THE PROBLEM IF THE CAN DUPLICATE IT. I HAVE HAD 2 INSTANCES WHERE IS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED FOR NO REASON AND I ALMOST WAS BROADSIDED BY ANOTHER CAR. I LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. I CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY FAMILY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC SRX. WHILE TURNING LEFT AT 2 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT REMOVED HIS FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE LIGHT TURNED OFF AND HE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,500.
HIGH PITCHED NOISE WHEN CAR WAS STARTED THEN WHINING NOISE. TOOK CAR TO JEFF SCHMITT CADILLAC SAID POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW. SAID NO LEAKS FLUID FOUND ON DRIVEWAY. TOOK CAR IN TO REICHARD GMC THREE TIMES TO HAVE SEALS REPLACED BECAUSE OF LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID. *TR
WE OWN A 2006 CADILLAC SRX AWD THAT IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL. PRETTY REGULARLY, WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, THE TRACTION CONTROL WILL ENGAGE WITHOUT WARNING. YOU CAN BE TURNING IN AN INTERSECTION WHEN IT HAPPENS OR JUST PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS, THE RADIO ALERT WILL READ "TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED". YOU HAVE TO REACH OVER AND HIT THE CLEAR BUTTON TO GET IT TO STOP. WHEN IT HAPPENS, YOU LOSE POWER. IF YOU ARE IN AN INTERSECTION, YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL & FAST OR YOU WILL GET HIT. IT'S VERY SCARY. WE HAD A MECHANIC CHECK THE CODES IN THE COMPUTER AND IT HAD THESE CODES: C0046: LEFT REAR WHEEL SPEED CIRCUIT, C0228: LEFT REAR ABS CHANNEL IN RELEASE TOO LONG AND A TRANSMISSION CODE: P1793- WHEEL SPEED SIGNAL MALFUNCTION. BECAUSE OF THESE CODES, THE MECHANIC COULDN'T TELL WHAT IS GOING ON. WHEN HE CALLED THE CADILLAC DEALERSHIP, HE WAS TOLD THAT WE NEEDED A REAR DRIVER HUB ASSEMBLY. WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGING. I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM W/2006 & 2007 MODEL SRX'S. THEN I SEARCHED ONLINE & THEIR ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. SOME AS EARLY AS FEB. 2006. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN DEATH IF NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALERS SHOULD KNOW WHAT IT IS & SHOULD RECALL ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES TO REPAIR THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE FAULTY FROM THE START. I HOPE SOMETHING IS DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. JUST SEARCH ONLINE & YOU WILL FIND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. THAT'S JUST THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO COMPLAIN. THANK YOU *TR
CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY, LOUD ENGINE NOISE, LURCHING FORWARD WHILE STOPPED, WHEN DRIVING CAR SHAKES, VEHICLE IS HESITATING RIDE NOT SMOOTH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. ALSO LEFT TURN SIGNAL FLASHES TOO FAST. 2006 SRX TIMING CHAIN AND RELATED COMPONENTS REPLACED 07/09 AND AGAIN 01/11. REPLACED LEFT TURN SIGNAL BULB AND SOCKET. NO EXPLANATION GIVEN AS TO WHY EITHER OCCURRED. *TR
CADILLAC SRX FROM YEARS 2004-2009 HAS A PROBLEM WITH BURNT OUT FRONT TURN SIGNAL/RUNNING LIGHT BULBS. TO CHANGE AN $8.00 BULB COST ABOUT $150-200 BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF WORK TO ACCESS THE BULB. I FEEL THAT BECAUSE THIS IS A TURN SIGNAL (SAFETY) PROBLEM GM SHOULD HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR FREE OR MADE AN ENGINEERING CHANGE WHICH THEY DIDN'T. THE WEB SHOWS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM SRX OWNERS WHO HAVE CHANGED THE BULBS NUMEROUS TIMES AND GAVE UP AND NOW HAVE NO FRONT TURN SIGNALS. MOST WHO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM SAY THAT THE BULB RUNS TOO HOT CRACKING THE AC-DELCO SOCKET(19120947). THE LAST TIME I REPLACED THE BULBS ONE BURNT OUT IN A WEEK. MY VEHICLE IS AN 2004 CADILLAC SRX AWD 3.6 L 6 CYLINDER ENGINE AND AS 10/3/2004 MY MILEAGE IS 40065. BULBS HAVE BURNT OUT 4 TIMES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC SRX. IN DECEMBER OF 2008, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD METAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ON MARCH 11, 2009. TWO DAYS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL SYSTEM WAS GIVING INCORRECT SIGNALS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL THE DEALER THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS GUAGE. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE SIPHON JET PUNP WAS CLOGGED WHICH WAS CAUSING IT TO SHUT OFF. THERE WAS ALSO A BRAKE PROBLEM. UPDATED 04/16/09. *JB
THE STRUTS ON THE VEHICLE ( FRONT) WEAR DOWN COMPLETELY TO FAST FROM PURCHASE. IT IS MORE LIKE YOU ARE OFFROADING WHILE DRIVING. CAR COMPLETELY JOSTLES YOU AROUND. I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS FOR OVER A YEAR. THE CAR IS ONLY A 2006. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT. *TR
AT RANDOM THE BLINKER AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAIL IN MY 2006 CADILLAC SRX V6 AWD. I WAS DRIVING AND TURNED ON THE BLINKER TO MAKE A TURN AND THE BLINKER DID NOT SOUND AND DID NOT FUNCTION. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN REGULARLY IT IS A 1 IN A 100. I HAVE HAD MY CADILLAC IN TO A CADILLAC DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES TO HAVE THIS CORRECTED AND I FEAR THAT MORE CARS MAY HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND AN ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR. AT TIMES WHERE THE BLINKER FAILS THE RADIO ALSO MAY SKIP STATIONS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 SRX, WITH 18K MILES. MY SUNROOF SHATTERED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 12-28-07. IT WAS A CLEAR DAY WITH NO DEBRIS ON THE ROAD. MY SUNSHADE WAS CLOSED DUE TO THE CONSTANT CONSUMER COMPLAINTS SO I WAS NOT HURT. AFTER PULLING OVER ON THE FREEWAY, I INSPECTED THE SUNROOF TO SEE IF SOMETHING HAD CAUSED IT TO COMPLETELY SHATTER. THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING ON THE SUNSHADE TO INDICATE WHAT HAS CAUSED IT TO SHATTER. THEY HAVE NOT SAID WHETHER IT WILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT, BUT THEY HAVE HAD TWO OTHER SRX'S COME IN WITH THAT SAME PROBLEM JUST RECENTLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC SRX. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE GLASS SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED. THE POLICE INSPECTED THE SUNROOF AND STATED THAT THE WINDOW SHATTERED ON IT'S OWN AND WASN'T VANDALISM. THE POLICE DIDN'T FEEL THE NEED TO PROVIDE A POLICE REPORT. AN INSURANCE CLAIM WAS FILED. GENERAL MOTORS STATED THAT THE REPAIR WAS THE CONTACT'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE PRICE TO REPAIR THE SUN ROOF WAS $1,300. THE PURCHASE DATE, VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 115,000.
WHEN STOPPING, THEN STARTING UP (WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, LIKE AT A STOP SIGN) THE 2006 CADILLAC SRX WILL OFTEN FAIL TO MOVE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED AND THE 'TRACTION CONTROL' INDICATION LIGHTS UP ON THE RADIO. THIS ALSO HAPPENS SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING WITHOUT STOPPING. IT HAPPENS ON LEVEL GROUND AND WHEN GOING UP INCLINES. IT MAKES A GRINDING SOUND (LIKE WHEN GEARS ARE RAKED IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION.) BY LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR, THEN RE-APPLYING IT, THE CAR WILL MOVE, BUT THE HESITATION IS VERY DANGEROUS. IF THE DRIVER DOES NOT LET OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR DURING ONE OF THESE EPISODES, THE CAR WILL VERY SLOWLY BEGIN TO MOVE AND EVENTUALLY ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENS ON WET OR DRY PAVEMENT, WITH NO REASON FOR LOSS OF TRACTION. 'TURNING OFF' THE TRACTION CONTROL FEATURE BY PRESSING THE BUTTON ON THE CONSOLE DOES NOT ALWAYS PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE HAD THE CAR INTO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR OF THE PROBLEM NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THE DEALER HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR SOLVE THE DEFECT. I PUT MY SAFETY AND OTHERS AT RISK WITH EVERY MILE THAT I DRIVE THIS CAR. *TR
TURNED KEY TO START TRUCK, SMOKE CAME OUT OF AC VENTS AND STEERING COLUMN, ACRID ODOR ACCOMPANIED SMOKE. SHUT KEY OFF EXITED VEHICLE, FLAMES ERUPTED IN VEHICLE, CALLED FIRE DEPT. THEY ARRIVED 20 MINUTES LATER, CAR WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED. VEHICLE TOWED TO CADILLAC DEALERSHIP. TRUCK CONSIDERED TOTAL LOSS. I SUSTAINED INJURY EXITING VEHICLE , AS I AM 7 MONTHS PREGNANT. *JB
SUNROOF HAS HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS, THE CAR HAS HAD 7 VISITS TO THE SHOP BECAUSE OF SUNROOF PROBLEMS. I AM WAITING FOR IT TO SHATTER LIKE THE SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS I AM HEARING ABOUT. I AM NERVOUS THAT MY KIDS WILL BE IN THE CAR WHEN IT DOES SHATTER. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SUNROOF SHATTERED EARLY IN THE MORNING ON SATURDAY, JULY FIRST. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE MOONROOF NOT CLOSING PROPERLY . DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR SEVEN DAYS REGARDING THE MOONROOF AND THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. WHEN IT WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, THE MOONROOF, SUNROOF/TRACKS AND SIDE PANELS TO THE REAR OF THE TRUCK WERE DISASSEMBLED AND REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT ON BETWEEN THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER. AFTER THE THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE SUNROOF AGAIN WITHOUT A COST. THE DEALER STATED THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A FRACTURE TO THE GLASS BY AN EXTERNAL OBJECT BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN NO PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. THE CONTACT REFERRED TO WWW.CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM WHERE THERE IS AN ARTICLE DATED JANUARY 2, 2006, STATING THAT NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING 17 COMPLAINTS FOR THE CADILLAC SRX FROM 2004- 2006. THE ARTICLE ALSO CITES 19 INJURIES SUSTAINED DUE TO THE SUNROOF DEFECT. ON A MESSAGE BOARD OF CADILLACOWNERS.COM, A OWNER OF 2005 SRX ALSO HAD THE SUNROOF SHATTER.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING; IT FELT AS IF THE BRAKES HAD LOCKED. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS AROUND 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY, BUT THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. UPDATED 3/3/2006 - *NM UPDATED 3/9/2006 - *NM
