The contact stated that while parking in a parking space with her great nephew in a booster seat on the rear passenger seat, she depressed the brake pedal and shifted into park. However, upon releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly, hit a pole, and crashed into an unoccupied vehicle located on the other side of the pole. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal and shifting into reverse, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly and crashed into an unoccupied vehicle parked behind her vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact and her great-nephew were transported to her residence with the assistance of police patrol. The contact later sought medical assistance and was informed that she had sustained muscle spams from the upper body to the chin and headaches. The contact's great-nephew did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer's autobody repair shop, Les Stanford Body Shop (24825 Trowbridge St, Dearborn, MI 48124). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 5,829.
