Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Cadillac XTS. After the purchase, the contact discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale in July of 2024. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 128,000. The contact stated that while attempting to obtain an extended warranty for the vehicle, the contact was informed that the vehicle had been subjected to odometer fraud. The contact was informed that in 2022, the mileage was documented as 198,000. The contact researched to track the VIN and became aware that before the vehicle was purchased, the previous owner had logged the mileage as 145,000. The contact had not filed a report with any other agencies.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac XTS. The contact stated while parked and occupied in the vehicle, attempting to start the vehicle infotainment system displays a black screen and glitched. An independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnoses. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mention the failure has occurred on two different occasions. The manufacture was notified of the failure and they informed him that he will have to pay out of pocket for the cost of the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000.
My back brakes have locked up on me while going 65 miles a hour. It was smoking bad when I had to get back home.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac XTS. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact slowly drove the vehicle to the residence five streets away. The contact exited the vehicle and performed an inspection of the vehicle. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the front passenger’s side rotor was red-hot. The contact poured water on the rotor and steam filled the air. A mobile mechanic was contacted, and the vehicle was diagnosed with a seized brake chamber. The contact was informed that the electric parking brake needed to be replaced with an unknown part. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V541000 (Parking Brake); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The manufacturer confirmed that the recall repair was performed in September 2014 on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
Cracking on the white walls & splitting on the gold line wall I purchased the tires new (thinking) they was new with a warranty from discount tire witch they were new not used but already two years old & when I took them back to discount tire they said they was discontinued and they had took just a deduction off the tires with a warranty and it was just like buying some new ones I ask the salesman what's the point of the warranty he don't know or help I couldn't afford to pay for some new ones & I have to make it to work and than the other one did the same I reached out to the manufacturer and send him pictures and the receipt just a run around I had just replaced them again & the date is from 2022 it's 2025 please hold them accountable thanks in advance contact me @ [XXX] please INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac XTS. The contact stated that upon shifting the vehicle into reverse, the rearview camera failed to display a rearview image. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the rearview camera. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V709000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac XTS. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the hazard lights unintendedly illuminated, and all the doors failed to unlock as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle remained at the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,200.
The steel cable coming from the floor anchor to the seatbelt has frayed and broken off from normal use. The problem was not noticed until the day before it completely detached. We purchased the car in May of 2015.

The contact stated that while his son and wife were driving back to the residence at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact’s son pulled over to inspect the vehicle. The contact’s son called and asked for assistance. After the contact arrived on the scene and inspected the vehicle, the contact became aware that there was a crack on the narrow flange of the catalytic converter. The contact started the vehicle and saw that the check engine warning light was illuminated, and there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the exhaust system. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle inspected; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was informed that the catalytic converter had a massive crack and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,208.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac XTS. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the engine. The contact stated exhaust started entering the cabin of the vehicle through the vents before the vehicle started losing motive power. The vehicle was driven to the residence and parked. The contact later discovered that the front catalytic converter had separated from the exhaust manifold and was touching the radiator fan. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed of an unknown TSB related to the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000. The contact stated that there was no deterioration found to explain the cause of the failure.
The Cue screen in my car is cracking for the 2nd time. I have contacted GM/Cadillac without a resolution. I see online that there have been two class action suits due to the fact the Company was/is aware of the flaw and have not issued a recall. In addition, they are replacing the Cue screen (at owner's expense) with the same flawed design. Thus subsequent issues.
I was driving north on I-65 traveling about 65mph and the Rear Air Suspension failed and dropped to the point the tires were about 1 inch (2.54 cm) from the finder wells. I lost control of the car, the rear end was bouncing, almost causing me to crash. Not only that, but I had to drive it home with the hazards on, while driving on I-65, people passing me at 70mph. Cadillac knows about this fault and refuses to fix it. They want to charge you $1,000 plus to replace the entire system. My Cadillac was just at the dealership about 8 days prior to this incident for mileage scheduled maintenance, in which the suspension is one of the things they were supposed to have checked out. Someone if they haven't already is going to get killed when this happens. There is no warning.
Rear air suspension gave out while driving and will not air/raise back up. Air springs and suspension compressor are working but the car still will not rise. Very dangerous. This is a common problem with these car but Cadillac won’t acknowledge.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, the mechanic discovered that the drive shaft had disconnected from the rear differential and needed to be replaced. The contact was then given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer and had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
Light come dash board stabilitrak light light for master break steering it has been in many wrecks and they sold it to me it keeps going sometimes when you hit the breaks jump’s stuffers the drivers seat goes all the way back when you get out off car
AFTER I GOT TO WORK AND PARKED MY CAR I WENT BACK TO GET MY COFFEE MUG WHEN IT APPEARED THAT MY CAR WAS LOWERED TO THE GROUND AS IF ALL THE AIR WENT OUT OF ALL OF THE TIRES. THE AIR SUSPENSION I SUPPOSE. ALSO, MY DISPLAY SCREEN HAS GONE OUT TWICE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR SIX YEARS AGO.
CADILLAC CUE BECAME NON-RESPONSIVE. WE WERE TRAVELING IN A RURAL AREA AT NIGHT WITH NO CELL PHONE SERVICE AND WAS DEPENDING ON THE GPS IN THE CAR. THIS PRESENTED WITH A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT WAS NO LONGER WORKING. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD CADILLAC CUE THAT HAS BEEN INSTALLED IN THIS CAR AND IT HAS 75K MILES ON IT. THE PART ALONE IS OVER $1,200.00.

WHILE DRIVING, SUDDENLY, THE REAR OF THE BEGAN BOUNCING WILDLY ALMOST TO THE OF LOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR, I PULLED OVER, AND THE REAR OF THE CAR WAS COLLAPSED ONTO THE TIRES. WAS TO DRIVE IT VERY SLOWLY TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACE A CONTROL MODULE. SIX WEEKS LATER IT DOES IT AGAIN AND NOW IT NEEDS A REAR AIR COMPRESSOR. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
THE LEVELING SYSTEM IN REAR GOES FLAT, BOTH TIRES ALMOST TOUCHING FENDER WELL WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND SCARED THE HELL OUT OF HER THEN A COUPLE DAYS LATER I STARTED IT UP AND THE AIR SHOCKS WENT BACK UP, WE THOUGHT IT WAS OK TIL YESTERDAY WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. NOW IT SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE REAR WHEELS SITTING ON REAR FENDER WELLS. BOTH TIMES WE HAD NO WARNING. THE CAR HAS 35,000 MILES
CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING
MY 2014 XTS HAS 25K MILES. THE REAR ELECTRONIC AIR RIDE SUSPENSION INTERMITTENTLY FAILS CAUSING THE REAR END OF THE CAR TO BE LOWERED ALMOST TO THE GROUND MAKING IT VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE EVEN AT LOW SPEED. THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR ARE TOSSED AROUND WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION DUE TO NO SUSPENSION MAKING IT VERY HARD TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR. THIS CONDITION HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 30 MPH. THE ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION STARTED OUT FINE THEN WITHIN MINUTES THE ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION FAILED. MY FEAR IS IT WILL RANDOMLY HAPPEN WHILE AT HIGH SPEED ON A HIGHWAY WHICH I'VE READ HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL ANOTHER XTS OWNERS. MY MECHANIC HAS REPLACED RELAY SENSORS AND HAS SUCCESSFULLY TESTED THE AIR RIDE COMPRESSOR MOTOR AND IT STILL FAILS AT RANDOM TIMES. HAVING THIS CONDITION HAPPEN ESPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEEDS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD RESULT IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CADILLAC XTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY SCREEN WAS CRACKED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FAIRFIELD CADILLAC LOCATED AT 400 N. DERR DR, ROUTE 15, LEWISBURG, PA 17837, AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. *BF CONSUMER'S INSURANCE COMPANY CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION AND REFUSED ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THE SCREEN CRACK WAS CAUSED BY A KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *DL
CUE INFORMATION SYSTEM FAILURE. THIS SYSTEM FAILURE PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE BEING THAT THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK AND THE HANDS FREE ALSO DOES NOT WORK. THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF SYSTEM FAILURES SO, I'M SURE THAT THERE ARE A LOT MORE CONCERNED OWNERS.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CAR THREE MONTHS AGO. I CHECK THE CAR FAX AND CALLED CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE INFORMATION THAT WAS GIVEN BY BOTH STATED THE CAR NEVER BEEN IN A ACCIDENT AND WAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED I NEED A CLOCK RING AND AIRBAG MODULE, WHICH COST OVER $700 DOLLARS. THEY ALSO STATED THAT GMC SWITCH THE GUIDELINES ON THE CLOCK RING AND THEY CAN'T INSTALL IT WITHOUT THE AIRBAG MODULE. THEY HAVE NO IDEAL WHY IT'S BEEN CHANGE AND NOW I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE AIRBAG MODULE BECAUSE THE CLOCK RING WANT FIT. I CAN'T DRIVE ME CAR HOME BECAUSE OF SAFETY REASONS AND THEY HAD TO GIVE ME A CAR FOR THE TIME BEING. THIS HAVE TO BE SOME TYPE OF DEFECT BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY I SHOULD BE HAVING THIS ISSUE WHEN EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT PERFECTLY. NOW THEY TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR A PART THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW GMC CHANGE THE SPECIFICATIONS ON! THIS LIGHT JUST HAPPEN TO COME ON WHEN MY CAR WAS PARKED, THEN MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS WENT OUT AND MY HORN STOPPED WORKING. SOMETHING IT'S NOT RIGHT BECAUSE IT WAS CONFUSION AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T EXPLAIN WHY GMC CHANGE THE SPECIFICATIONS ON THE PART. THE MAN AT THE CADILLAC DEALERSHIP STATED HE HAVE TO GIVE GMC A CALL MONDAY BUT LIKE I STATED TO HIM HOW'S THAT FAIR TO THE CUSTOMER WHEN YOU ALL STILL TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR A PART YOU ALL DIDN'T KNOW THAT CHANGE. I'VE HAD PLENTY USE CERTIFIED CARS IN THE PAST AND NEVER HAS THIS HAPPEN. THOSE CARS THAT I'VE HAD ARE NOT EXPENSIVE AS MY CADILLAC. I'VE HAVE SEEN THE CADILLAC XTS HAD RECALLS AND FOR MY AIRBAG LIGHT THAT JUST CAME ON IS NOT A COINCIDENTES.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET IN TRAFFIC AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES AN HOUR AND THE REAR AIR SUSPENSION DEFLATED AND THE REAR OF MY CAR WAS LAYING ON TOP OF MY REAR TIRES CAUSING THEM TO RUB AGAINST THE INSIDE OF THE REAR WHEEL WELL. AS I TRIED TO DRIVE OFF THE TIRES WERE GRINDING UP AGAINST THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL WELL. I LET THE CAR SIT AS I WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK FOR APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR THE REAR SUSPENSION INFLATED IT ONCE AGAIN. THEN BEFORE I COULD MAKE IT HOME THE REAR AIR SUSPENSION DEFLATED AGAIN WHILE IN TRAFFIC SO I HAD TO PULLOVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK AGAIN. AS I WAS WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES PAST AGAIN SO I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE REAR SUSPENSION AND INFLATED PROPERLY AND THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME AND PARK IN THE GARAGE. WHEN I CAME OUT TO THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY AND STARTED THE CAR THE AIR SUSPENSION IS NOW WORKING JUST FINE BUT I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IF THE AIR SUSPENSION DEFLATES AGAIN I'LL BE STUCK IN TRAFFIC SOMEWHERE.
CADILLAC CUE SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS ALL FUNCTIONS OF THE VENT, AIR DEFROST TEMP, RADIO, WINDOWS, AND MANY OTHER SYSTEMS OF THE AUTO, DOES NOT FUNCTION OR RESPOND TO TOUCH ON THE TOUCH SCREEN, THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR VISION IN BAD WEATHER ,THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM WITH MOST CADILLAC XTS AUTOS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BAIERL CADILLAC (10430 PERRY HWY, WEXFORD, PA 15090, 724-741-1222) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SCREEN SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CADILLAC XTS. WHILE HAVING A TIRE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RIMS WERE BENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRANK KENT CADILLAC (3500 W LOOP 820 S, FORT WORTH, TX 76116, (817) 385-1736) TO BE INSPECTED, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE RIM FAILURE. THE RIMS WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,500.
MY CADILLAC CUE TOUCHSENSE TOUCH SCREEN IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING AT ANY TIME, SITTING STILL OR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE SCREEN IS SPIDER WEBBED (DELAMINATION OF CONDUCTIVE LAYER OF MATERIAL BEHIND THE GLASS) AND NO LONGER ALLOWS ME TO SET THINGS LIKE THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE, AUTO-BRAKING AND LANE DEPARTURE OPTIONS AS WELL AS MANY OTHER NON-SAFETY RELATED FEATURES. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND I HAVE READ AT ONE TIME CADILLAC HAD A BACKLOG OF OVER 4000 VEHICLES WAITING ON REPLACEMENT CUE MODULES BUT YET NO VOLUNTARY RECALL. HOPEFULLY THE NTSHA CAN LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND REQUIRE CADILLAC TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM FOR OWNERS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SINCE SOME FUNCTIONS SET WITH THE TOUCH SCREEN ARE RELATED TO VEHICLE SAFETY (COLLISION AVOIDANCE, AUTO-BRAKING AND LANE DEPARTURE).
DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY, NO CARS AROUND, THE STATIONARY COMPONENT OF THE SUNROOF, EXPLODED OUT, ONE OF THE PIECES OF THE GLASS WAS EXPELLED AND HIT THE TRUNK, MAKING A DEEP SCRATCH. NO DISCERNIBLE CRACKS OR HISTORY OF ISSUES. WEATHER WAS 65 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. NO SUDDEN CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE OR MOISTURE. CLEAR SKIES, NOT OVERCAST OR SUNNY. NO DAMAGE TO THE UNDERLYING SLIDING COVER. THE UNSAFE CONDITION IS IF THE COVER WOULD HAVE BEEN RETRACTED AND MY CHILDREN IN THEIR CAR SEATS. THE SPONTANEOUS EXPLOSION WOULD HAVE SENT PIECES OF GLASS DOWN, CUTTING THEM.
TAKATA INFLATTORS: HAD BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH THE STEERING IN MY CADILLAC 2014 CADILLAC XTS VSPORT FOR SOMETIME BACK IN 2017. IT WOULD BECOME HARD TO STEER AT TIMES WHEN NEGOTIATING TURNS ESPECIALLY OR WHEN BACKING UP AND TURNING. HAD REPORTED TO JOE BULLARD CADILLAC SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BY PUTTING IT ON THE COMPUTER TO SEE IF AND THING SHOWED UP WHICH NOTHING DID ON THE MANY MANY OCCASIONS WHICH I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE FOR THIS CONCERN. THEN ON NOVEMBER 22ND, 2017; I WAS TRAVELING ON A COMMUNITY STREET AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN AND I HAD A SERVER ACCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE AS A RESULT. THIS ACCIDENT INCURRED OVER $22, 000.00 WORTH OF VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE WHICH IS CONSIDERED BY MY AUTO INSURANCE PROVIDER AS AN AT FAULT ACCIDENT ON MY PART. YET IN ALL REALITY, IT IS A RECALL SAFETY ISSUE WHICH COULD HAVE DONE OTHERS AND MYSELF GREAT PHYSICAL HARM. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND MAKES THE CAR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER OR MANEUVER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE IN MOTION AND THE CAR LOSES SPEED CAUSING OTHER CARS TO ALMOST REAR END YOU ON CITY STREETS.
CUE (CADILLAC USER EXPERIENCE) SYSTEM NOT RESPONSIVE IN A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 92,000MILES.ALTHOUGH THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS, CADILLAC WOULD NOT ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE PART. I WAS OFFERED A DISCOUNT (ABOUT 20% OFF) TO REPLACE THIS ESSENTIAL ELECTRICAL COMPONENT THAT SHOULD NEVER FAIL. "THE FIRST OF ITS KIND TECHNOLOGY" THAT "SHOULD SERVE AS A BENCHMARK FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY" IS A COMPLETE FAILURE THAT MAKE THE CAR NOT USABLE. THE CUE SYSTEM SHOULD BE A RECALLED AND REPLACED BY CADILLAC AS IT IMPACTS ESSENTIALS SUCH AS AIR CONDITIONING, VEHICLE SETTING APPLICATIONS, BACKUP CAMERA, BLUETOOTH, NAVIGATION ETC. THE GM EXECUTIVE OFFICE MADE IT SOUND THAT IS CONSUMABLE AND IS THE OWNER'S PROBLEM.
DRIVING VEHICLE ON HWY 408 (EAST WEST EXPY) ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON AROUND 5PM ON 6.23.17, AND FRONT PART OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF SHATTERED. I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION COMING FROM TOP OF CAR. PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT THE OUTISDE GLASS OF THE FRONT PART OF THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED WITH GLASS COMING INTO MY DRIVER SIDE AS WELL AS I AM SURE THE REMAINING GLASS SHATTERED TOWARDS OUTSIDE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVIING UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. THE EXPERIENCE WAS SHOCKING AND FRIGHTENING. I WAS GLAD THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS WITH ME. I WENT TO MASSEY CADILLAC LOCATED ON ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL IN ORLANDO. I WANT THIS DOCUMENTED BY THE DEALER AND URGING FOR A SOLUTION TO THIS SITUATION. THERE WERE NO OBJECTS COMING FROM ABOVE THAT HIT THE SUNROOF. IT WOULD HAVE HAD TO BE, IN MY OPINION SOMETHNG VERY VERY HEAVY! THE DEALER SERVICE REP STATED THAT I COME BACK ON MONDAY, 6.26, 17 TO SEE WHAT IS DECIDED ON THE MATTER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE ENDED TRAGICALLY. I DEPEND ON MY CAR FOR BUSINESS .
"TAKATA RECALL" I ENTERED THE CAR TO GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY, JUNE 26, 2016, SUDDENLY THERE WAS THIS BOUNCING, I STOPPED TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THE REAR END OF THE CAR APPEARED VERY LOW TO THE GROUND. I HAD JUST DRIVEN OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE CHURCH IS ABOUT TWO-HUNDRED FEET FROM MU HOUSE. THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING BECAUSE THERE IS MORE THAN FIFTY-THOUSAND MILES, I AM RESPONSIBLE, HOWEVER, THERE HAS BEEN NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE DONE TO THE CAR BY ME OR ANYONE ELSE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CADILLAC XTS. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH IN SNOWY CONDITIONS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND ON AND THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V409000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,500.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OCEAN CADILLAC (17800 IPCO RD, MIAMI, FL 33162, (786) 474-3084) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TOUCH SCREEN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A VOUCHER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A "BLIND SPOT DETECTOR" SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM FAILS "OCCASIONALLY". THIS CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE IF IT FAILS WHEN I AM TRYING TO CHANGE LANES. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE OF THIS ISSUE 4 OR 5 TIMES WITHOUT ANY REPAIR. THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN, I WAS TOLD THERE ARE OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND "CADILLAC IS WORKING ON A FIX". THIS WAS MORE THAN 5 MONTHS AGO AND I HAVE HEARD NOTHING ABOUT A FIX. I WOULD LIKE THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED ON A HIGHER LEVEL.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE WHEN ENGINE QUIT RUNNING. WAS ABLE TO GET CAR TO SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES, CAR STARTED AND RAN FINE. AFTER IT STARTED, I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED ONSTAR; THEY RAN A DIAGNOSIS ON VEHICLE AND SAID THEY FOUND NO PROBLEMS. I LATER TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND REPORTED THIS STALL. IT IS MAY-BE ABOUT TO HAPPEN - AS A SENIOR CITIZEN - I FEEL MY NEW CAR MAY BE A DANGER TO ME IF I PARK AT A LOCATION OTHER THAN A SAFE PARKING LOT WITH SECURITY. THE CAPLESS FUELING IS NICE BUT NOT WITH A FEATURE TO LOCK. IT CAN BE OPENED EITHER WHILE ALL OTHER DOORS, WINDOWS ARE LOCKED AND SECURED WITH A THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM. ALL YOU DO IS PUSH THE CAP AND A PRANK OF JUST PUTTING SOMETHING IN MY GAS LINE COULD CAUSE DAMAGE. RESULTING WITH MY NOT STARTING IT AND/OR A DE- DETERRENT TO STOP ME FOR A ROBBERY OR WORSE. I WOULD BELIEVE A HIDDEN TAP TO UN-LOCK THE GAS CAP INSIDE THE CAR FOR ME TO OPEN WOULD BE BETTER. I HAD THIS FEATURE ON A 2010 MAZDA - MIATA I TRADED IN FOR THE PURCHASE OF MY XTS THAT THEY SOLD IN SEVEN DAYS. PLEASE ADVISE AS TO CORRECTING THE ISSUE. *TR
SHORT VERSION: WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 55MPH, REAR BRAKES LOCKED UP. WE PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE BRAKES WERE SMOKING AND A SMALL FIRE APPEARED ON EACH REAR BRAKE. A PERSON WHO SAW US PULL INTO THE PARKING LOT RAN OVER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE ON EACH BRAKE. LONG VERSION: APPROX. 2-WEEKS PRIOR TO THE ABOVE INCIDENT, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. AFTER THE APPOINTMENT, THE DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. APPROX. 1-WEEK LATER, I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. I STARTED MY CAR, RELEASED THE PARKING BRAKE, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. IT APPEARED THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED. I CALLED THE ONSTAR SYSTEM, THE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND FOUND NO ISSUES. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. A FEW DAYS LATER, MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING IN UP STATE NEW YORK WHEN THE INCIDENT ABOVE OCCURRED. AFTER RETURNING TO OHIO, WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM. THEY CALLED YESTERDAY AND SAID THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS BUT FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. AT THIS POINT, WE ASSUME THERE IS A DEEPER PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM AND CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING THE CAR BACK. WE HAVE CONTACTED GM AND OUR CASE NUMBER IS [XXX]. WHILE WEARING MY DRESS SHOES FOR CHURCH TODAY (SIZE 13) I PIVOTED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TOWARD THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ENCOUNTERED A SOLID OBJECT THAT PREVENTED ME FROM ACTUATING THE BRAKES. AS I PUSHED HARDER (PRESUMING SOMETHING WAS HOLDING THE BRAKE PEDAL UP) MY SHOE SLIPPED OFF THE SOLID OBJECT AND SLAMMED INTO THE BRAKE PEDAL CAUSING A RATHER ABRUPT STOP. UPON INSPECTION I COULD SEE THE SOLID OBJECT WAS AN AIR VENT WITH A SHARP LOWER EDGE THAT GRABBED MY SHOE. CLEARLY, THERE SHOULD SOME SORT OF GUARD OVER THE SHARP OPENING SO THAT EVEN IN A PANIC STOP WHEN SOMEONE RAISES THEIR FOOT EVEN HIGHER THAN I DID, THE SHOE WOULD EASILY SLIP OFF. *TR

LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN KING ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE XTS CADILLAC ENGINE FIRE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RECALLED ON APRIL 7, 2014, FOR A DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP, WHICH COULD START AN ENGINE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED TOTALED.
AT 5:15AM, 5/29/14, MY XTS WHILE PARKED IN MY RESIDENCE DRIVEWAY SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE EMANATED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND DESTROYED THE ENTIRE FRONT 1/2 OF THE VEHICLE. NORTH FARMINGDALE FD RESPONDED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. NO INJURIES WERE CAUSED. THE NASSAU COUNTY PD AND NASSAU FIRE MARSHALLS OFFICE ALSO RESPONDED AND AFTER A VISUAL AND PHOTO EXAMINATION DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE AREA OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP. CADILLAC HAD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE TYPE ON 4/12/14 WITH THE WARNING THAT A DEFECT IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND IN MY CASE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT OCCURRED. THE OIL SPILLAGE AND VEHICLE DEBRIS ALSO CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVEWAY RESULTING IN A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE DRIVEWAY. *TR
