INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF IGNITION. HAVE HAD CAR TOWED NUMEROUS TIMES CAUSED BY FAILURE OF IGNITION TO WORK. CAR WOULD THEN START, THEN FAIL TO START. PLEASE CONSIDER ADDING THE CAMARO SS 2001 TO THE GM IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE RECALL. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR NOW, HAVING HEARD A FAULTY GM IGNITION SWITCH HAS CAUSED ENGINES ON CERTAIN GM CARS TO FAIL WHILE CAR IS MOVING, RESULTING IN 13 FATALITIES. THE FIRST INCIDENT DATE OF MY CAR'S FAILURE TO START IS APPROXIMATE; THE PROBLEM GOES BACK SEVERAL YEARS. APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AGO, I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY DEALERSHIP AFTER IT REFUSED TO START AT A NEARBY STOP. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED MY IGNITION KEYS AND FOUND THEM OKAY, BUT WENT NO FURTHER IN TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR FAILED TO START JUST TWO WEEKS AGO AFTER I CAME OUT OF A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT, WHEREUPON I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOME. THE CAR THEN DECIDED TO START THREE DAYS LATER. THEN, I SAW OF THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH RECALL ON THE NEWS. I REFUSE TO TRY TO USE THE CAR UNTIL THE SITUATION CAN BE DIAGNOSED BY GM OR THE LAW. *TR
TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET CAMRY. THERE WAS AN ODD NOISE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. SHE WAS TOLD THAT THE SPARE TIRE WAS LOOSE. THE CONTACT WAS LATER NOTIFIED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT THE NOISE WAS DUE TO THE BALL BEARINGS. THE ESTIMATE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS $500 PER WHEEL TO REPLACE THE BALL BEARINGS. THE ELECTRIC DOORS AND THE HEATING ELEMENTS ALSO EXHIBITED FAILURES PERIODICALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE TIE ROD FRACTURED ON THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING 30 TO 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE A TEMPORARY FIX, SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,779 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000. THE VIN IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED INTERMITTENTLY, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. DEALER STATED THERE WAS NO SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ELECTRICAL SHORT. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT LAST WEEK SHE COULD NOT GET INTO VEHICLE, BECAUSE BATTERY WAS GONE. SHE CALLED AAA, AND THEY GAVE HER A JUMP START, AND SHE DROVE VEHICLE TO WORK, IT WAS OK, UNTIL SHE WAS READY TO COME HOME. SHE HAD TO GET ANOTHER JUMP. SHE HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SHE ALSO STATED THAT AAA TOLD HER IT LOOKED AS THROUGH ACID WAS LEAKING ALL OVER BATTERY. SHE WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE VEHICLE BECAUSE WHEN SHE GOT WHERE SHE IS GOING IT MIGHT NOT BRING HER BACK HOME.*AK
