I was driving down the freeway when I suddenly heard a knock coming from the motor. The engine blew a rod almost immediately. Parts and debris started shot out of the bottom of the vehicle. The debris hit my tires, causing me to swerve. I was ultimately able to maintain control of the vehicle and get off the freeway. My vehicle had to be towed.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRIDGEWATER CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 1548 US-22, BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ 08807, (732) 226-7264) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE VALVE LIFTER, VALVE LIFTER, HEAD GASKETS, VALVE COVER GASKETS, EXHAUST GASKET, AND BOLTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,136.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRYNER CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 1750 THE FAIRWAY, JENKINTOWN, PA 19046, (215) 402-7267) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN, THE MECHANIC WOULD BE UNABLE TO OFFER A REPAIR. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE THERMOSTAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,416. *JS
THE TIMING CHAIN ON MY CAMARO 3.6L WAS STRETCHED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RUN ROUGH AND STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP WAS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE BASED ON A SERVICE ALERT FROM THE MANUFACTURE. THE VEHICLE HAD 53000 MILES AND WAS REPAIRED AT MY COST FOR A KNOW MANUFACTURER DEFECT. HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR SAFETY BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I BELIEVE GENERAL MOTORS IS ISSUING RECALLS FOR THIS SAME ENGINE BUT ON OTHER MODELS.
78000 MILES, TIMING CHAIN ISSUE, SPUN ROD BEARINGS, AND LOW COMPRESSION IN THE ENGINE. OIL AND MAINTENANCE DONE ON A REGULAR BASIS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT GO ON, NO WARNING SIGNS, AND DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF, KEPT RUNNING. I WAS GOING 40 MILES PER HOURS ON A HIGHWAY, WAS DRIVING AND STARTED HEARING THE ENGINE SOUND LIKE A TRACTOR TRAILER, HEARING BANGS EVERY 3/4 OF A SECOND. HEARING MULTIPLE REPORTS ON CAMARO FORUMS ABOUT THIS, AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE, CHEVY SAID IT IS AN OWNER ISSUE, I NEEDED TO GET MY ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACED BECAUSE OF IT. THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR 78,000 MILES ON A CAR, BUT I GUESS THAT IS WHY THEY BROUGHT THEIR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY DOWN ABOUT THE SAME TIME PEOPLE STARTED REPORTING THESE ISSUES. CONTACTED GM DIRECTLY AND THEY SAID THEIR WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT BUT MAKE A REPORT ABOUT IT, AND IF THEY EVER COME AROUND TO A RECALL THEY WILL PAY ME BACK THE COST OF THE PRIOR REPAIR.

I WENT OUT TO MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED OIL I NEVER DRIVE THIS CAR HARD IT IS BABIES AS WE SHOW IT SO I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MANY OF US DRIVING 2010 TO 2012 V6 CAMARO HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING WERE THE HOUSING MEETS THE BLOCK THE SEAL IS DETERIORATING AND GUSHING OIL OUT I LOST A QUARTER OF OIL IN LESS THAN 500 MILES OTHERS HAVE SEIZED THERE ENGINES MY CONCERN IS WHAT IF WE ARE CRUISING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND THE ENGINE SEIZES IT COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH I HAVE FOUND MANY OF US COMPLAINING ON DIFFERENT FORUMS ABOUT THE OIL ISSUE
I HAVE A 2011 CHEVROLET CAMARO WITH A 3.6 ENGINE. THE TIMING CHAINS ON THIS MOTOR ARE KNOWN TO STRETCH WHICH MESSES UP THE EMISSIONS AMONG OTHER THINGS. THE SAME ENGINE IS IN A SATURN, GMC ACADIA, AND SOME CADILLACS. THESE THREE VEHICLES ARE COVERED BY THE RECALL BUT THE CAMARO IS NOT EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ENGINE. I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY CAMARO WITH 68K ON IT, RECENTLY THE HEATER CORE WENT OUT AND I THINK IT IS TO SOON FOR THE HEATER CORE TO GO OUT. A RECALL SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR THE HEATER CORE AS THE HOT FLUIDS FROM THE LEAK CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE HEATER CORE CHEVY WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE WINDSHIELD TO GET TO IT. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $1700 TO FIX AND AN ADDITIONAL $400 IF THE WINDSHIELD BREAKS WHICH IS UP-SURD! *TR

I GOOGLED "CAMARO FIRE IMPACT" TO SEE,IF ANY POSSIBLE RECALLS, HOW EVER I NOTICED,I CAME ACROSS SEVERAL ARTICLES ONLINE WHERE THEY STATED OF CAMAROS BURSTING INTO,FLAMES,UPON IMPACT, AND ACCORDING TO THESE,ARTICLES PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN THESE VEHICLES,DUE,TO,THE,FIRES. *TR
AC STARTED TO BLOW OUT REALLY COLD AIR (COULD SEE THE COLD AIR COMING OUT) AND WOULD HEAR THE COMPRESSOR BEING TURNED ON AND OFF AND THEN NO MORE COLD AIR WOULD BLOW OUT. TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE CONDENSER. PURCHASED A CONDENSER AND ANOTHER MECHANIC SAID THAT THE COMPRESSOR WOULD NOT TURN ON. RESEARCHED PROBLEMS AND SEEMS THAT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CONTROL MODULE NOT COMMUNICATING WITH COMPRESSOR TO TURN ON AND OFF. I CAN NOT FIND ANY RECALLS OR A DEALER THAT WILL REPAIR THIS OR IF THIS IS EVEN WHAT IT IS.
WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH MY CAR STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I SAFELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CHECKED THE ENGINE COULD PHYSICALLY SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I CHECKED THE OIL AND THE DIPSTICK WAS ALMOST DRY. MY OIL CHANGE WAS OVERDUE BY 3000 MILES. LAST OIL CHANGED I USED FULL SYNTHETIC OIL THINKING I COULD GO A LITTLE FURTHER BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. NEVER RECEIVED A OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT ON MY DISPLAY. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT I SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED SOME TYPE OF INDICATION THAT MY OIL PRESSURE OR OIL LEVEL WAS LOW. NOW LEFT WITH THE HIGH COST OF REPLACING THE ENGINE. *TR
HAVING ISSUES WITH CAR MAINTAINING OIL LEVELS. 1ST INSTANCE DID OIL CONSUMPTION THEN FOUND IT WAS LEAKING FROM ENGINE SEAL, REPLACED THAT THEN ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION @ 1000 MILES LATER TO FIND OUT IT WAS LEAKING FROM SOME SORT OF PLUG, REPLACED THAT, ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST @ 2000 MILES TO ONLY FIND OUT IT WAS LOW ON OIL AGAIN, GM TOLD THE DEALER TO DO A TOP ENGINE CLEANER ON IT. THEN GM REPLACED THE WHOLE ENGINE COVER ASSEMBLY AND SEALS AND INFORMED ME THAT YOU COULDN'T USE DEXTOSE FULL SYNTHETIC BECAUSE THE SEALS AND RINGS WOULDN'T SIT RIGHT AND THAT OIL WAS MADE FOR CORVETTES AND CADILLAC , THREE DAYS LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY JUST CLEARED THE CODE AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT. NOT EVEN 1/2 WAY HOME NOTICED THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE, CALLED DEALER AND TOOK IT BACK, FINDING OUT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS BAD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED THAT. IT'S ONLY BEEN 2000 AND NOW THE OIL LEVEL IS ON THE END OF THE DIP STICK. WHEN SPEAKING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER HE SAID NOT TO GO BY THE OIL % LIFE ON THE CAR AS IT WASN'T ACCURATE. TO CHANGE AT 5000 MILES. BUT BEING AT THE END OF THE DIP STICK THE MATH ISN'T ADDING UP. CAR AT THE DEALER NOW AND GOT A CALL EVERYTHING IS IN SPEC PER GM AND IT'S BURNING 1 QT PER 2000 MILES, NOTHINGS WRONG. CLEARLY YOU CAN SEE OIL RESIDUE ON THE ALTERNATOR AND BRAND NEW ENGINE COVER THEY JUST PUT ON. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER THREE TO FOUR TIMES FOR THE ENGINE WARNING FAILURE AND UNKNOWN REPAIRS RELATED TO THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THE OTHER REPAIRS PERFORMED CONSISTED OF THE REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS AND, REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL HUB. AN INSPECTOR DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WHICH THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION. AFTER THE MOST RECENT REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AND A LOUD RATTLING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION WITH MULTIPLE ENGINE MISFIRES. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DETECTED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING WAS LEAKING. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE CAM-SHAFT AND CYLINDERS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECTS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,608.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 CAMARO RS THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THEN THE POWER TRAIN DISENGAGED MOMENTARILY ALL WARNING LIGHTS AND ESC FAILED. THE AUTO TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AND THE STEERING BECAME UNSTABLE. WARNING BELLS AND DOOR LOCKS WENT OFF. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALER.
