TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT COOP. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH OVER THE TRAIN TRACKS WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE DROVE IT TO A DEALER. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. EIGHT WEEKS LATER THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH AND TRIED TO SWITCH LANES AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND WHEN HE TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY BEGAN TO RESPOND NORMALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO WAS IRATE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE MONTHS AFTER HE PURCHASED IT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED IN 2005 AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE VEHICLE HAS A LOW TORQUE IGNITION CYLINDER. UPDATED 09/21/10
WE HAVE OWNED 2 CHEVY 05 COBALTS AND 2 TIMES THE UNDERCARRIAGE HAS BEEN DAMAGED BY HOLE IN THE ROAD AND A PIECE OF METAL. ONE CAR WAS TOTALED AND THE SECOND ONE IS BEING LOOKED AT BY CLAIMS ADJUSTER NOW. *NM
SECURITY SYSTEM FAILURE....CAR WILL NOT START; HUMMING NOISE HEARD AND COMPUTER IS PERFORMING A SCAN. CAR CAN ONLY BE STARTED WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, IGNITION IN START POSITION, BUTTON PUSHED IN THE RELEASE SHIFTER. SECURITY LIGHT AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON DURING COMPUTER SCAN. *NM (OCT 5, 05): UNABLE TO TRACK DOWN THE CONSUMER'S PHONE NUMBER.
DT: THE CONTACT HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH A VEHICLE HE PREVIOUSLY OWNED. THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE KEY CHAIN WAS TOO LONG AND TOUCHED HIS KNEE. THE SECOND PROBLEM CONCERNED THE BRAKE LIGHT COMING ON MOMENTARILY. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE THIRD PROBLEM WAS THAT THE DOOR HANDLE STUCK ONE EIGHTH OF AN INCH FROM THE DOOR. AS A RESULT, HE RETURNED THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP.*AK THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED TO HOLD THE CONSUMERS HEAVY KEY CHAIN. UPDATED 01/19/06. *JB
WITH LESS THAN 500 MILES ON MY BRAND NEW 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT, WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, MY RIGHT REAR TIRE EXPLODED. AFTER GETTING OVER TO THE SHOULDER, I SMELLED RUBBER BURNING AND DISCOVERED THAT THE SIDEWALL WAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE REST OF THE TIRE. AFTER TAKING MY TIRE TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION, THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE TIRE WHICH CAUSED IT TO DEFLATE AND MY DRIVING ON THE DEFLATED TIRE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (MAYBE 100 YDS) CAUSED THE SIDEWALL TO SEPARATE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY FIXED A PART ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE IS STILL HAVING THE SAME NOISE. WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL DIFFERENT NOISES WERE COMING FROM THE SUSPENSION. *AK
THE PLACEMENT OF THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE 2 DOOR IS POOR .YOU MUST REACH BACK OVER YOUR SHOLDER TO UNLOCK THE DOOR, EITHER POWER DOOR LOCKS SHOULD BE STANDED OR THE LOCK LOCATION SHOULD BE CHANGED TO THE DOOR HANDEL 2005 CHEVY COBALT 2 DOOR
THE 2005 CHEVY COBALT POWER STEERING HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. AS STATED IN THE HAND BOOK IF YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE STOP POSITION YOU MAY LOSE POWER ASSIST, THAT DOES HAPPEN. IN MY OPINION YOU SHOULD NEVER LOSE POWER STEERING. IT OCCURS OFTEN WITH ME BECAUSE I TEACH DRIVER EDUCATION, AND IN PENNSYLVANIA PART OF THE TEST REQUIRES PARALLEL PARKING. WHEN TEACHING STUDENTS WE VERY OFTEN LOSE POWER STEERING. IF YOU ARE IN A CITY SITUATION AND YOU HAVE TO MAKE MANY TURNS TO GET INTO A SPOT YOU WILL LOSE POWER STEERING. GENERAL MOTORS CLAIMS THIS IS NOT A BIG ENOUGH PROBLEM TO WARRANT LOOKING INTO. I FEEL IN CAN VERY WELL BE A SAFETY HAZARD. *NM
DT:THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THIS VEHICLE WAS RENTED BY THE CONSUMER FOR THREE DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A SQUEALING NOISE, AND GOT INTO A SEVERE ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM WAS EITHER IN THE STEERING OR THE TIRES. AN INVESTIGATOR WAS LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM . CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY THIS NOISE. SHE LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE GOING AROUND A CURVE, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. 2 OCCUPANTS SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE POLICE REPORTED THAT CONTACTS VEHICLE HIT THE LEFT SIDE OF A DIESEL SEMI TRUCK, BUT SHE STATED THAT VEHICLE HIT THE FRONT OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. ALSO, THE POLICE REPORT STATED THAT THERE WAS MODERATE DAMAGE TO THE DIESEL TRUCK. THE POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE IF NEEDED.
2005 CHEVROLET COBALT EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH TOTAL LOSS OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE STALLING.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THE KEY RING HAD A SLIGHTLY LARGER LINK FROM THE KEY TO THE OPENER GADGET. WHEN THE MECHANICS KNEE HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE OPENER GADGET IT CAUSED THE IGNITION SWITCH TO SHUT OFF. ALSO BELOW THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS A PIECE OF RUBBER TO THE COLUMN. THE PIECE CAUSED THE KEY RING NOT TO MOVE AND THE IGNITION SWITCH INSTANTLY TURNED OFF. THE CONSUMER STATED THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS POORLY INSTALLED. EVEN WITH THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION. *JB
DT : THE CALLER SAID THAT WHILE DRIVING IF SHE BUMPED THE KNEE UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN THE ENGINE DIED. SHE WAS NOT HITTING THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT JUST BUMPING THE UNDERNEATH SIDE OF THE COLUMN. IT DID NOT NEED TO BE HIT VERY HARD TO HAPPEN. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES WHILE SHE WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWA,Y AND ONCE TO HER SON. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. *AK
CLUTCH WENT ON CAR AFTER 60 MILES (2 WEEKS OLD) BEEN IN TOMS CHEVROLET REPAIR SHOP FOR THREE WEEK STILL NOT PARTS.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING ON ROUGH ROADS A NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE STEERING. THE NOISE SOUNDED LIKE THERE WAS SOMETHING LOOSE IN THE STEERING. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 5000 MILES THE STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED , AND THEY STATED THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) NHTSA 10017497 THAT DEALT WITH THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER THERE WAS NO SOLUTION TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.*AK
SINCE THIS CAR WAS NEW, THE CAR LOCKS AND UNLOCKS ITSELF REGULARLY. IF YOU GET OUT OF CAR, THEN RETURN TO CAR EVEN WITHIN SECONDS, WHEN YOU OPEN DOOR THE ALARM GOES OFF. YOU CANT DO ANYTHING WITH CAR, WITHOUT HAVING KEYS IN HAND READY TO SHUT OFF ALARM. EVEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK REGULARLY. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER AND THEY SAY NOTHING WRONG. CAR NOW HAS JUST OVER 100K MILES, AND AM LEANING TOWARDS NEVER BUYING GM AGAIN. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT ON 6-3-05 AND AFTER TAKING DELIVERY BEGAN NOTICING THE DRIVERS SEAT MOVES EVER SO SLIGHTLY BACK AND FORTH IN ITS TRACK . THIS CAN BE ANNOYING AT TIMES . I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM ONLY TO BE INFORMED THAT IT WAS WORKING WITHIN GM SPECS AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THREE ISSUES WITH MY 2005 CHEVY COBALT. ONE THE DOOR LATCH BROKE AND I CAN NO LONGER GET OUT THE DRIVERS SIDE. IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR I WOULD HAVE TO CRAWL OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. SECONDLY, MY STRUTS KEEP GOING BAD ON MY CAR. I HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED THREE TIMES NOW. MY THIRD ISSUE IS THE BRAKES. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COBALT HAD ANITLOCK BRAKES WHEN I BOUGHT IT. HOWEVER, WHEN I HAVE HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES THEY LOCK AND A LITTLE LIGHT COMES ON WITH A ANTI BRAKE SYMBOL ON IT. *TR
I PURCHASE MY VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2005 AND HAD CONTINUAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING EVER SINCE. I HAD THE CART IN THE SHOP MONTHLY FOR THEM TO EVALUATE UNTIL THEY SAID THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THEY COULD DO THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WENT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND STILL NO SATISFACTION I EVEN CALLED GM TO COMPLAIN SEVERAL TIMES AND I CRIED THAT I WAS GOING TO GET KILLED AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. NOW 13 + PEOPLE ARE DEAD. I HAVE MY CAR AT THE DEALER AND IT WAS A FIASCO. THEY GAVE ME BACK MY CAR WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND SAID I SHOULD PAY FOR DIAGNOSTICS. REALLY?? THEY HAD MY CAR I DID NOT GIVE IT TO THEM THAT WAY. I CALLED GM AND THEY TOLD ME TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC MY CAR IS TO OLD SO THEY WONT MAKE THEM DO ANYTHING. NICE REAL NICE - I GUESS I AM LUCKY TO STILL BE ALIVE TODAY - I WISH I COULD SUE THEM BUT I WORK HARD AND DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO SPEND. AGAIN THEY ARE LUCKY THEY HAVE NO PENALTY. UPON ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON MANUALLY, BECAUSE THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS COME ON A LITTLE LATER THAN I WOULD LIKE, ALMOST ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS ON THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE COME ON. I SAY ALMOST BECAUSE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTING DOES NOT RESPOND TO A MANUAL REQUEST FOR THE LIGHTING SYSTEMS TO ACTIVATE. THE BACKGROUND OF THE CLUSTER IN THIS CAR IS BLACK, AND WHEN IT STARTS TO GET DARK OUT IT MAKES IT RATHER DIFFICULT TO SEE. ONE WOULD EXPECT THAT WHEN YOU TURN THE HEAD LIGHTS ON, AND ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTING COMES ON, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS BACK LIGHTING TO ALSO COME ON. THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO BOBBY LAYMAN CHEVROLET IN COLUMBUS OH, 2 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE, AND BASICALLY THE RESPONSE OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ITS THE WAY IT IS. *JB
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40MPH WITH MY TWO KIDS IN THE CAR AND THEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN AND WOULDN'T ACELARATE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN THE CAR JUST STALLED. I THEN PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I THEN TRIED STARTING THE CAR AGAIN AND IT DID START. MY VEHICLE HAS 600 MILES.TODAY I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM CHEVROLET MOTOR DIVISION CENTRAL OFFICE STATING THAT THEY ARE CONDUCTING A VOLUNTARY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM THAT AFFECTS CERTAIN 2005 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET COBALT VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.2L ENGINE AND AIR CONDITIONING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND ALSO THE 800 NUMBER ON MY LETTER AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY VEHICLE STALLING AND TO LET THEM NOW I RECEIVED THE LETTER. I'M SCHEDULED FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND TO LOOK INTO WHY MY VEHICLE STALLED. ALTHOUGH THEY STATE THIS IS "VOLUNTARY CUSTOMER STATISFACTION PROGRAM" I THINK THEY SHOULD JUST CALL IT A RECALL AND HAVE ALL CUSTOMERS WHO PURCHASED THIS MODEL BRING THEIR VEHICLE IN NOW RATHER THAN WHEN THEY EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM.
DT:BOUGHT A NEW 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT IN MARCH. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP 5 TIMES. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH DASHBOARD PANEL LIGHTS CAME ON AND THEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE DIED. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION IN THE START POSITION. DEALER SAID IT WAS DESIGNED FOR WOMEN SO THEY MAY START THE CAR EASILY. THE IGNITION WAS DESIGNED TO STOP THE ENGINE IF THE KEY OR IGNITION WERE TOUCHED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE DEALER SAID CHEVROLET DESIGNED IT THIS WAY. THE SECOND OPINION FROM THE DEALER WAS SIMPLY THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN THERE WAS A LOSS OF BRAKE POWER ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK WHICH SHOWED NOTHING. THERE WAS A RECALL SERVICE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THAT WAS ON THE AIR CONDITIONER. THERE WAS SOME SORT OF REPROGRAMMING WORK DONE. CONSUMER DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH VEHICLE. *AK
IN 2008, MY 2005 CHEVY COBALT WOULD LOOSE THE POWER STEERING AT RANDOM. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THIS WAS TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN AND IT ONLY HAS APPROX 45,000 MILES ON IT NOW. *TR

COMING TO A STOP LIGHT AND PRESS THE BRAKES IT WAS LIKE THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD. JUST GOT THE VEHICLE BACK FROM THE SHOP YESTERDAY AND IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. POWER STEERING WAS LOCKING BUT WAS NOT ACTUALLY LOCKED. WILL STOP AND RESTART THE VEHICLWAS AND ITS LIKE HAVING FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. *AK

I PURCHASED A CHEVY COBALT BRAND NEW IN 2005. FROM THE MOMENT IT LEFT DEALERSHIP I HAVE HAD ONE RECALL ISSUE AFTER ANOTHER. THE MAIN ISSUE IS STALLING WHILE DRIVING CAUSED BY THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS HAD BEEN FIXED AT SCHUMACER CHEVROLET SEVERAL TIMES. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL AND I AM TERRIFIED OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS RECALL WHICH GM REFUSES TO FIX. I FEEL I WAS SOLD A LEMON AND ALL I GET FROM GM AND THE LOCAL DEALERS IS NOTHING. MY VEHICLE IS WORSE WITH THE STALLING. I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO TURN TO. PLEASE HELP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND14V047000 (AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HAD PASSED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
2005 COBOLT POWER STEERING BLEW FUSES. NOW LIGHT COMES ON CAR JUMPS TRIES TO DIE ON ME. POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME A 2005 CHEVY COBALT, WE RAN OVER A SMALL ROCK THAT HAD FALLEN FROM A TRUCK IN FRONT OF US ( ABOUT 8" IN DIAMETER). WE HEARD A BANGING AND TEARING NOISE, THEN THE ENGINE WENT DEAD. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART, WE EXITED THE COBALT TO FIND FUEL GUSHING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. WE HAD OUR 3 CHILDREN MAKE A RUN FOR IT, GRABBED OUR POSSESSIONS, FOLLOWED THE KIDS, AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FROM A SAFE DISTANCE. FORTUNATELY WE, (AND OTHER MOTORISTS) WERE NOT INJURED. IN 25 YEARS OF DRIVING, WE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. THE FIREMEN ON THE SCENE SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A SMALL ROCK TEAR OPEN A FUEL TANK AT THAT SLOW A SPEED BEFORE. THE SHERIFF ECHOED THEIR COMMENTS, ALONG WITH THE FACT HE HAD NEVER SEEN A FUEL TANK LIKE THAT BEFORE, PARTICULARLY THE FACT THAT IT DID NOT HAVE A BLADDER. I'M NOT WELL VERSED IN AUTO MECHANICS. I'M JUST HAPPY MY FAMILY IS ALIVE. TAKE THIS AS A WARNING - PERHAPS THE PROTECTIVE MEASURES CHEVY TOOK FOR THE FUEL TANK IN A REAR COLLISION LEFT IT VULNERABLE IN OTHER AREAS. I DON'T THINK THIS IS THE FIRST AND LAST TIME THIS WILL HAPPEN, AND HOPEFULLY A RECALL WILL TAKE PLACE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES FROM THIS FLAW.

WITHOUT WARNING, THE DASHBOARD INDICATORS WENT OFF AS THE ENGINE DIED. THE DIRECTIONALS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS WOULD NOT WORK. SHE WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE HIGHWAY, BUT WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY A LARGER VEHICLE THAT WAS FOLLOWING HER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, BUT SHE WILL PURSUED THE MATTER WITH THE DEALER.*AK

DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE IGNITION SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. ALSO, IT OCCURRED A COUPLE OF TIMES WHILE TRYING TO TILT THE STEERING WHEEL OR WHILE JUST DRIVING AND NOT TRYING TO ADJUST THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALERSHIP WAS AS STUNNED AS THE CONSUMER THAT GM WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER SAID THAT ONE COULD PUT A SLOT IN THE KEY HOLE TO MAKE IT SMALLER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS PROCEDURE HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTLY DONE TO CONSUMER'S VEHICLE IT WAS JUST IN THE WORKS TO SEE IF THIS WOULD BE A POSSIBILITY TO FIX. I BOUGHT A CHEVY COBALT LS FOR MY SON TO DRIVE BACK AND FORTH TO COLLEGE. WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A DEPENDABLE CAR. MY SON INFORMED ME LAST NIGHT (2-25-10) THAT THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND HE HAD A HARD TIME DRIVING CAR. THE LIGHT HAS NOT CAME ON SINCE INCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO A CHEVROLET DEALER TODAY (2-26-10). THE SERVICE TECH TRIED TO TALK ME OUT OF HAVING IN HOOKED TO A COMPUTER. SHE VERBALIZED IT PROBABLY WON'T SHOW ANYTHING WHEN HOOKED TO DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. INFORMED HER I WANTED IT DONE ANYWAY. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, I HAD A MESSAGE ON ANSWERING MACHINE THAT POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SO I GOT ON THE WEB. TRIED TO LOCATE A REPLACEMENT. APPARENTLY THEY CAN ONLY BE BOUGHT THROUGH A DEALER. WHILE LOOKING ON THE WEB I FOUND OVER 60 COMPLAINTS WITH SAME PROBLEM. JUST READING ABOUT 10 COMPLAINTS, SOMEONE HAD WRECKED AND HAD PICTURES POSTED ON COMPLAINT. FOUND A PARENT ON U TUBE (THAT'S WHERE I GOT THIS WEB SITE) WHO WAS TELLING OTHER OWNERS TO COMPLAIN SO THAT GM WOULD HAVE TO FIX STEERING PROBLEM. I'M NOT A GENIUS, BUT SEEMS LIKE IF THERE ARE THIS MANY COMPLAINTS AND I ONLY STARTED LOOKING TODAY ON INTERNET, THAT GM WOULD HAVE TO RECOGNIZE THERE IS A PROBLEM AND RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THE PROBLEM. WE PURCHASED OUR 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT IN MID DECEMBER. IN THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY WE NOTICED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSION VALVE. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DISPLAY THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT AND READ "POWER LESS REDUCED" THEN ,WE BEGAN TO HAVE DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING. THE GAS PEDAL BECAME STIFF. THE DEALEARSHIP REPLACED THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSION VALVE ONCE AGAIN. AGAIN THE PROBLEM SURFACED ABOUT A WEEK LATER. THE SAME PART WAS REPLACED ONCE AGAIN ,AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE FOR THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY TO DROP THE VEHICLE OFF FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. WE WERE THEN TOLD THAT THIS WAS AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE CAR LITERALLY OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. ONE DAY AND 38 MILES LATER IT STALLED OUT ON MY WIFE ON THE WAY TO CHURCH. TWO WEEKS LATER I GOT IT BACK. SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR DECEMBER OF 2004, I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE KEY GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRY TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
