WHEN BRAKING, THE TIRES BOUNCE CAUSING A SERIOUS VIBRATION WHICH MAKES STEERING DIFFICULT WHEN BRAKING HARD. THERE IS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE OR LOSE SUSPENSION PARTS BUT I'M GUESSING IT'S EITHER BAD STRUTS OR CONTROL ARMS? I'M REPLACING THE PARTS TODAY AS A GUESS AND HOPE IT FIXES THE ISSUE. THIS IS MY DAUGHTERS CAR AND SHE'S AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.

MY COBALT HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS SINCE MY PURCHASE IN 2012. I FINALLY FOUND A MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME IT WAS THE CONTROL ARMS AND HAD THEM REPLACED, AND WITHIN THE YEAR WAS TOLD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AGAIN. NOW I HAVE BEEN TOLD MY SUSPENSION IS GONE. THESE COMPLICATIONS SEEM LIKE REOCCURRING ISSUES WITH NOT ONLY COBALTS BUT MANY CHEVY VEHICLES.
MY 2007 CHEVY COBALT IS MAKING KNOCKING WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS, GO OVER BUMPS, OR JUST SET IN THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO A MECH AND THEY TOLD ME ITS MY SWAY BAR LINKS AND MY STRUT/SHOCK IS LEAKING. HOW IN THE WORLD CAN A SWAY BAR LINK FAIL UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND NOT THAT VERY MANY MILES ON THE CAR. IT LOOKS AS THOU I AM NOT THE ONLY CHEVY OWNER WITH THIS PROBLEM. REPLACED ALL OF THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS SINCE PURCHASE: BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS DUE TO BUSHING FAILURES; BOTH FRONT SHOCK AND STRUT ASSEMBLIES DUE TO SHOCK FAILURES/LEAKS; BOTH SWAY BAR LINKS DUE TO FAILED COMPONENTS; BOTH FRONT SWAY BAR BUSHINGS DUE TO DRY-ROT; BOTH FRONT ROTORS DUE TO FAILED/WARPED COMPONENTS CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE BRAKE CALIPERS; HARMONIC BALANCER DUE TO DEFECTIVE/WEAK COMPONENT; BOTH REAR SHOCKS DUE TO FAILURES/LEAKS. STILL NEED TO REPLACE REAR COIL SPRINGS DUE TO WEAKNESS, ALL WHEEL HUB BEARINGS DUE TO UNSTABLE DRIVING/STEERING AND THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CAUSING HIGH IDLE AND ERRATIC IDLING AFTER WARM-UP.
BROUGHT 2007 COBALT ON 7/09/14. REPORTED THE PROBLEM OF THE VEHICLE SHUTTING- OFF ON ME AND NO INSPECTION STICKER WAS ON THE CAR 7/10/14. THEY WROTE A WORK ORDER OUT. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO ARCHER AUTO TO GET WORK PERFORMED AND FOR A INSPECTION STICKER. ARCHER AUTO KEPT MY 2007 COBALT FOR 3 MONTHS. UNTIL I CALLED BBB BUSINESS AND FILED A COMPLAINT. ARCHER AUTO SAID THEY FIX MY VEHICLE BUT DIDN'T. ARCHER AUTO PUT A ILLEGAL INSPECTION STICKER ON IT TO PASS THE EMISSION TEST. ARCHER AUTO RETURNED MY VEHICLE. THEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. BROUGHT IT TO FIRESTONE TO GET FIX. THEN LATER FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING. THE 2007 COBALT WAS SHUTTING-OFF ON ME AND LOSING ALL POWER..THEN I TOOK IT BACK BECAUSE THEIR WAS ANOTHER RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THEN ON 9/13/14 THE ENGINE SHUT-OFF ON ME. LOSING ALL POWER , LOCKING THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING ALSO. I RAN INTO THE BACK OF A VEHICLE AND TOTALED PUT THE 2007 COBALT. *TR
GOING OUT OF DRIVEWAY THE FRONT STRUTS SOUND LIKE THEY BOTTOM OUT. TOOK TO A CERTIFIED MACH. AND STRUTS WERE LEAKS OIL AND GAS. REPLACED THEM COST 559.00 . I AM HAVING MORE PROBLEMS WITH THE BACK SHOCKS I THINK WHEN YOU GO OVER A ROUGH PLACE IN THE ROAD IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BOTTOM IS FALLING OUT. CAN NOT AFFORD TO GO BACK TO MACH. NOW . NO WARRANT LEFT BUT CAN NOT GET A HOLD OF ANY ONE TO TALK TO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THE PLACE WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR WILL NOT HONOR THERE PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS BECAUSE THEY WENT UNDER A NEW OWNER. THIS MAKES THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE ROADS IN CANADA LET ALONE ANYWHERE ELSE, AND AFTER HEARING THIS REPORT AND READING FORUMS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I WANTED TO BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION AS THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CHEVROLET NEEDS TO FIX. I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2007. I NOTICED AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES THE FRONT SUSPENSION STARTED TO MAKE LOTS OF CLUNKING NOISES AND RATTLING WHENEVER I WENT OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE CAR NOW HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT AND THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. THERE IS ALSO A REALLY AWFUL NOISE WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES AND RELEASE THEM THE CAR JERKS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE GONNA FALL OFF THE CAR. I RECENTLY TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE BUSHINGS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND POSSIBLY THE STRUTS AND CONTROL ARM. THE MECHANIC SAID THE CAR SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THOSE PROBLEMS WITH THE CARS CURRENT MILEAGE. HE RECOMMENDED I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER SHIP BUT MY WARRANTY HAS SINCE EXPIRED AND THE DEALER SHIP WILL NOT FIX THE CAR. *TR
MY CAR WOULD RATTLE OVER EVER LITTLE BUMP IN THE ROAD. IT FELT LIKE MY WHEELS WOULD FALL OFF ANY MINUTE. I TOOK IT TO FLEET FARM AUTOMOTIVE TO HAVE THEM TAKE A LOOK AT IT. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT, BUSHINGS / CONTROL ARM WERE DAMAGED AND THAT TYPE OF FAILURE COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS. THEY TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD LOOK TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE A CONCERN FOR THIS YOUNG OF A VEHICLE. I COULDN'T FIND ONE BUT I DID FIND THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME. I BOUGHT MY COBALT IN MARCH OF 2007. FOR THE LAST YEAR THE RADIO WILL ONLY PLAY ON THE BACK SPEAKERS. THE STERO IT SELF WILL PLAY BUT SOME TIME NOTHING ON SREEN TO SHOW STATION OR TIME. THAT NOT A MAGIOR AS THE PROBLEM THE HAS HAPPENED NOW THREE TIME. WHEN WE GO TO STOP AT A LIGHT AND PUSH IN ON THE CLUCK THE CAR WILL DIE AND THE GAUGES ON THE DASH WILL SHOOT OVER TO THE RIGHT AND THEN TO THE LEFT SIDE FAST. THE CAR WILL RESTART. IN THE LAST MONTH THE FRONT IN WILL SHIMMY AND SHAKE WHEN SPPLING THE BREAKS. DOSE IT REAL BAD WHEN YOU SLOWING DOWN WHEN OVER 55 MILE PER HOUR. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINS ON THE FRONT END. WLL IT TAKE A PERSON TO BE KILLED FOR THE CHEVY COMPANY TO HAVE THE VEHICLES CALLED IN AND LOOKED AT. I BOUGHT THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE PRICE, MILE PER GALLON OF GAS.AND OVER ALL LOOK. *TT

OWNER FOUND LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT STRUT TO BE LEAKING AND RIGHT CONTROL ARM BADLY WORN. CORPORATION RECOMMENDED ONLY RIGHT SIDE CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS AND RIGHT SIDE STRUT TO BE FIXED. NOTHING WAS DONE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OWNER REFUSED TO PAY FOR REPAIR SINCE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 25,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE, THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT BOTH OF THE BUSHINGS ON THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WERE WORN. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE WHENEVER HE ENGAGED THE BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
AT 54000 MILES A "CLUNKING" NOISE BEGAN FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP OR GOING OVER MODERATE BUMPS IN THE ROAD. IM AT 57000 NOW AND THE NOISE HAS TRANSFERRED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE ALSO. HAVE NOT YET HAD THE CHANCE TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT I FEEL ITS SAFE TO ASSUME MY PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE THE SAME AS ALL THE REST. *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE SWAY BAR LINKS, CONTROL ARM BUSHING AND THE SHIFTER IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR INSPECTED THIS YEAR. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE IS THE BLINKERS NOT MAKING THE CLICKING SOUND, THEY WORK BUT I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO REPLACE MY FRONT SPEAKER. I FEEL LIKE THAT IS A LOT TO GO WRONG WITH A VEHICLE IN ONE YEAR. I ALSO THINK THAT THESE PROBLEMS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED THIS EARLY. I ONLY HAVE 57,000 MILES ON MY CAR. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE WITH THESE VEHICLES SEEING HOW THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CARS.
