THE IGNITION CYLINDER ON MY 08 CHEVROLET COLBALT IMPLODED AND I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED IN AND REPAIRED. THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME THERE WAS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. IS THIS TRUE? HOW DOES SOMEONE GET AN INVESTIGATION STARTED? *LN
THE STEERING IN MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAME HARD TO CONTROL, HARD TO TURN AND YOU HAVE TO PULL THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AFTER A TURN AND THEN THE CAR JERKS. THIS HAPPENED AFTER MY CAR WAS RECALLED FOR POWER STEERING DEFECTS, AND AFTER THE APPROPRIATE WORK WAS DONE TO REPLACE THE RECALLED PART. I NOW HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY POWER STEERING ( EVEN THOUGH I HAD NO PREVIOUS STEERING DIFFICULTIES PRIOR T RECALL ). THAT THE MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE AS APPARENTLY IT IS NOT THE POWER STEERING( YET TWO OTHER MECHANICS FROM OTHER SHOPS ARE REPORTING TO ME THAT IT IS INDEED THE POWER STEERING AT TO GO BACK TO MY DEALERSHIP AS THIS IS ON RECALL ) THIS IS A DRIVING HAZARD AND I AM THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS CAR, THE AMOUNT OF MAINTENANCE IT HAS REQUIRED. I HAVE PUT MORE WORK INTO THIS 2008 CHEVY COBALT IN THE PAST THREE YEARS THAN MY TEN YEAR OLD 10 YEAR OLD MAZDA EVER HAD. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY A CHEVY AS THIS IS THE SECOND VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED THAT HAS REQUIRED A LOT OF MAINTENANCE AND, THE QUALITY IS VERY POOR. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR, SWAY BAR (TWICE ), BRAKES, SHOCKS, TIRES, BUSHEL'S AND MY FUSES ARE CONSTANTLY BLOWING IN MY CAR AND NOW CONTINUE TO HAVE A PROBLEM AND A VERY SERIOUS STEERING AND SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
FUEL LEAKS FROM FUEL TANK FILLER NECK. VERIFIED THAT FUEL WAS NOT COMING FROM FUEL PUMP AS WAS ADDRESSED IN THE CURRENT RECALL FOR MODEL YEAR 2007. A CHECK OF ONLINE FORUMS RESULTED IN SEVERAL OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM, BEING REFERRED TO THE FUEL PUMP RECALL, AND THE PROBLEM NOT BEING ADDRESSED. *TR
NOTICE A STRONG FUEL SMELL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TOPPED OFF WITH FUEL. FUEL MILEAGE IS DEGRADED AND FUEL SMELL GOES AWAY WHEN TANK IS BELOW 1/2. CLASS 1 LEAK APPEARS TO COME FROM WHERE FUEL FILLER HOSE ATTACHES TO THE TANK. IT MAY ALSO BE COMING FROM THE FUEL PUMP AND DRIPPING ONTO THAT AREA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE STEERING COLUMN FROZE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,948.
REAR BRAKE ROTORS HAVE MASSIVE GOUGES CAUSING A GRINDING NOISE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER NOR WAS THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,628 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
I DRIVE A 2008 CHEVY COBALT LT, I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN TWICE TO GET THE TURN SIGNALS TO TURN THEMSELVES OFF AFTER TURNING. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT IS MY PARKING BRAKE, THE RACHET FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD BROKE OFF, I ASKED HOW THEY SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW. I ASKED HOW COMMON THIS HAPPENS THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN IT HAPPEN BEFORE, YET SOMEHOW I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. I BELIEVE IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, PARKING BRAKES DO NOT JUST BREAK LIKE THAT. I DRIVE A MANUAL AND MY PARKING BRAKE IS KIND OF IMPERATIVE TO PREVENT FROM ROLLING WHEN IT SPARKED. *TR
LEFT FRONT BRAKE GRABS AND WON'T LET GO, CAUSES PULL TO LEFT..REPLACED BRAKE HOSE, AND CALIPER, STILL DOES IT, BELIEVE IT WILL KILL MY FAMILY YET..IT DOES IT FOR FEW MILES, QUITS, THEN REPEATS AT ANY GIVEN TIME.. *TR
WHILE HEADING SOUTH ON 8 MILE ROAD IN CINCINNATI,OHIO. MY CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL. WHEN THE CAR LANDED AGAINST THE GUARD RAIL I WAS HEADING NORTH. THIS IS THE SECOND ACCIDENT THIS YEAR WITH THIS CAR. FIRST ONE WAS FEB.2010 ODI #10307249. I WAS GOING ABOUT 35 MPH , IT HAD STOPPED RAINING AND THE STREET WAS STILL A LITTLE WET. THE RECALL OF THE STEERING MOTOR, HAD BEEN REPLACED. MY CONCERN NOW THE NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CAR WILL MORE THAN LIKELY BE TOTALED. WHICH WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO GET THIS LEMON OFF THE ROAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE FLOOR MATS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME IN MY 2008 CHEVY COBALT WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE WARNING CHIME CAME ON AND THE MESSAGE READ ON THE DASH "POWER STEERING" LUCKILY WHERE I LIVE THE ROADS ARE FAIRLY STRAIGHT AND TRAFFIC WASN'T HEAVY. I MADE IT HOME AND PARKED AND THEN CONTACTED THE DEALER ASKING WHY A CAR I HAD FOUND TO BE UNDER RECALL ONLINE SINCE MARCH 2010 HAD BEEN INTO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND NOT HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED. I HAPPENED ONLY AN HOUR AGO AND SO I HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT SINCE BUT I'M NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES WITH IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 10V073000 STEERING ELECTRIC POWER ASSISTS SYSTEM IN AUGUST OF 2010. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED HIM THAT THEY COULD NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, BECAUSE THE PART WASN'T AVAILABLE. ON NOVEMBER 1, 2010 WHILE THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. SHE WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE STEERING AND WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHICH DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING COLUMN CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WASN'T REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 54,000. UPDATED 01/31/11 *BF THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 04/18/11
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP IN OCT 2011 AT APPRX 16,000 MILES TO CHECK LOUD NOISE COMING FROM FRONT SUSPENSION AREA. DEALER REPLACED POWER STEERING MOTOR ACCORDING TO RECALL AND REPLACED PART OF STEERING COLUMN. HOWEVER, THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THIS IS MY ELDERLY MOTHER'S CAR AND SHE DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE NOISE WAS NOT USUAL OR THAT THE REPAIR DID NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE NOW HAS 20,000 MILES (NOV 2011) AND MECHANIC DIAGNOSED LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS ARE SHOT. THIS IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL & YEAR. DEALER DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE. I THINK IT IS--POSSIBILITY OF SUSPENSION COMPONENTS FAILING. *TR
I HAD BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH A 2008 CHEVY COBALT; THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO ON AND OFF BUT EVEN WHEN THE COMPUTER SAID THE POWER STEERING WAS OFF IT MIGHT STILL BE WORKING OR IT MIGHT NOT. THIS PAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING HOME AND STARTED TO GO ACROSS THE LINE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CURVE. THE COMPUTER SAID THE POWER STEERING WAS OFF BUT IT WASN'T. IT CAUSED ME TO OVER-CORRECT, HIT A DITCH AND FLIP MY CAR. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW TRACTION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CHECKED THE TIRES AND TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE; THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE REAR BRAKES ON THE 2008-2010 MODELS OF THE CHEVROLET COBALT SS WEAR OUT IMMATURELY CAUSING PULSATION, LACK OF BRAKING POOR, AND COSTLY FIXES. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2008 COBALT AS A PROGRAM CAR IN NOVEMBER 2008. I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING MOTOR IN SEPTEMBER 2010. THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED. I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM OF THE INTERMITTENT EASE OF TURNING THE KEY. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR FOR THAT REPAIR I WAS TOLD THAT THE IGNITION CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS INTERMITTENTLY LOCKING UP. I PICKED UP THE CAR AND THEN THE EMERGENCY SWITCH BROKE, THAT WAS REPLACED AND DURING THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT SPEAKERS BLEW OUT. THOSE WERE REPLACED, AND NOW THE RADIO/CLOCK HAS TO BE REPLACED WHICH IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT MY TWO-YEAR CAR IS RELIABLE. I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT I BELIEVE THE CAR IS FAULTY BECAUSE IT IS "TOO YOUNG" TO HAVE THIS MUCH REPAIR WORK IN A VERY SHORT TIME.
SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH INTERMITTENT STALLING. BACKING OUT OF A PARKING STALL. STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. SLOWING DOWN. MAKING A TURN. TURNING INTO TRAFFIC. I HAVE CLEANED PARTS OF THE CAR, REPLACED PARTS OF THE CAR, LOOKED ONLINE FOR THE ISSUE (I FIND A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS WITH NO RESOLUTIONS), TAKEN IT TO CHEVY (THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG). SOMETIMES THROWING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL WILL SAVE IT, BUT NOT ALWAYS. THE CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC. AS TIME HAS GONE ON IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE, BUT AFTER ALL THE RECALLS I HAVE HAD NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I WILL BE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WITH TRAFFIC COMING AT ME AND THE CAR DIES. IT JUST SEEMS LIKE GM NEEDS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF PEOPLE TO DIE FOR AN ISSUE BEFORE THEY WILL ADDRESS IT.

I HAVE NOTICED EXCESSIVE WEAR ON MY REAR BRAKES AND GROVES FORMING ON MY ROTORS TOO. I HAVE A 2008 CHEVY COBALT SS TURBO. THE DEALER IS SAYING IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR BUT I BELIEVE IT IS SOMETHING MORE THAN WEAR AND TEAR. MY COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALER HAS GONE UNHEARD AND WILL NOT BE ADDRESSED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT LT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR EVERY THREE MINUTES WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION AND WOULD FUNCTION CORRECTLY AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS NO LONGER DRIVING THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND BEGAN VIBRATING ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE MOMENTARILY AND WHEN RESTARTED, THE STEERING RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES YET THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH SHE DROVE OVER A PATCH OF GRAVEL AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE AND SUFFERED NECK INJURIES, ABRASIONS, LACERATIONS, INCLUDING A FRACTURED VERTEBRAE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. THE POLICE RESPONDED TO THE CRASH AND FILED A POLICE REPORT. CHEVROLET WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

WHEN I STARTED MY CAR AND AT THE SAME TIME I WANTED TO PULL DOWN THE WINDOW IT DIDN'T WORK. I THINK IT WAS ALREADY TOO MUCH FOR THE CAR. IT HAPPENED ALREADY 3 TIMES IN 2.5 YEARS AND THE CAR WAS NEW. EVERY TIME I HAVE TO GO TO THE DEALER TO CHANGE THE REGULATOR IN THE WINDOW. *TR

COBALT 08 PASSENGER AIRBAGS NEED SERVICE. *TR
2008 CHEVY COBALT 60,000 MILES, LEFT AND RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS FAILED ENABLING FRONT WHEELS TO MOVE A FEW INCHES RELATIVE TO THE FRAME. R & R CONTROL ARMS. MECHANIC SAID WHEEL WAS READY TO DETACH FROM CAR, REPLACED PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 66 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD, UNUSUAL NOISE AND BEGAN TO SWERVE. SHE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT FURTHER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS HAD INDEPENDENTLY DEPLOYED. AS A RESULT, THE HEADLINER WAS DAMAGED FROM THE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 38,869.
I DO NOT REMEMBER THE EXACT DATES AND MILEAGE, BUT I HAVE SEEN RECENTLY THE RECALLS ON COBALT. I PURCHASED A 2008 COBALT IN 2008. HAD 5 MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. BY, 2010 THE IGNITION SWITCH HAD BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES, DUE TO FAILURE. 2 TIMES THE IGNITION WOULD NOT START. ONCE, THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I HAD TO DRIVE IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT TIME. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, GM, AND INTERSTATE COMMERCE DEPT. NO ONE WOULD HELP ME. THE ONLY THING GM SAID THEY WOULD DO IS GIVE ME $2500 TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. I HAD JUST HAD MY DAUGHTER AND STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH HER THE LAST TIME. AFTER NO HELP, I JUST HAD LET THEM REPO THE VEHICLE. I KNOW THE RECALL ONLY GOES TO 2007 MODELS, BUT YOU MAY WANT TO INVESTIGATE THE 2008 MODELS AS WELL. *TR
RECENTLY HEARD CLUNKING NOISE IN FRONT END. HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET, BUT WILL SHORTLY. SUSPECT IT IS BUSHINGS MENTIONED IN REPORT # 10335840. THE MILEAGE IS 26100. *TR
CHROME COVER ON 2008 CHEVY COBALT DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOUND FOUR OTHER INCIDENTS IN REGARDS TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THIS CAR HAS SWAYBARS WHICH I AM TOLD STABALIZE THE CAR IN TURNS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEM TWICE IN A YEAR AND A HALF AND NOW THEY ARE BROKEN AGAIN AND MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED AND THIS COST A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS EVERY TIME THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AND I FEAR REPLACING THEM WONT REALLY FIX THE PROBLEM AS IT KEEPS HAPPENING AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT EITHER PUT MORE MONEY INTO THE CAR OR GET RID OF IT WHICH I CAN NOT AFFORD TO DO . *TR

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY YET THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WILL CONTACT WITH HIM WITHIN A FEW DAYS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,200.

MY SON WAS DRIVING MY 2008 CHEVY COBALT, TRYING TO MAKE A TURN INTO A PARKING LOT WHEN HE GOT THE CHIMING NOISE AND AT THAT POINT WAS WITHOUT POWER STEERING. TRAVELING @15-20 MILES PER HOUR AND A 6FT MAN AT 200LBS HAD EVERYTHING HE COULD DO TO NAVIGATE THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. TWO DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT WHEN MY SON COULD NOT MOVE AND WAS IN IMMEASURABLE PAIN HE WAS BROUGHT TO THE ER AND DIAGNOSED WITH A CERVICAL SPINAL SPRAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JEFF WYLER CHEVY IN SPRINGFIELD OHIO AFTER THE CRASH. IN RESPONSE TO MY REQUEST FOR SERVICE ON THE VEHICLE KNOWN TO BE PART OF A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT SITUATION I WAS TOLD THAT THE THEY DETERMINED THE CODE FOR LOSS OF POWER STEERING WAS NEVER TRIGGERED. I EXPLAINED OF THE CHIMING DESCRIBED BY MY SON AND WAS TOLD BY THERE SERVICE MANAGER TJ THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNTIL DIRECTED BY GM. I HAVE SPENT FOUR DAYS TRYING TO GET GM TO HANDLE THIS ISSUE, I WAS ACTUALLY TOLD I COULD PUT IT THROUGH MY PERSONAL INSURANCE AND REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT? SERIOUSLY? AT THIS POINT MY SON IS HURT AND OUT OF WORK, WE HAVE NO VEHICLE AND NO RENTAL WHICH I HAVE REQUESTED SINCE THIS BEGAN. I WAS ACTUALLY TOLD BY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REP ON THE PHONE THAT SHE DID NOT SEE A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I ADVISED HER I HAD RECEIVED VIA MAIL THE NOTIFICATION AND WOULD NOT ACCEPT THAT AS AN ANSWER. HOW CAN GM CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE ROAD DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY ARE ACCOUNTABLE. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. OUR 2 INSURANCES COMPANIES PAID THE CAR OFF. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOOK THE CAR SO WE DO NOT HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART. WE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT SENDING US THE RECALL. CAR WOULD CRANK, BUT WOULD NOT START. WOULD CONTINUE TO CRANK FOR SHORT TIME AFTER KEY TURNED OFF. TRIED FOR 15 MINUTES, FINALLY STARTED. DROVE TO DEALER AND LEFT FOR SERVICE. REPAIR COST LABOR, SUPPLIES, TAX: $101 4 DAYS LATER CAR WOULD AGAIN (CRANK BUT NOT START - AT ALL), HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. AGAIN, WOULD CONTINUE TO CRANK FOR SHORT TIME AFTER KEY TURNED OFF. REAR BRAKE PADS WORN OUT AFTER 20K MILE AND ROTOR ARE GROVED AND YOU CAN HEAR THE BRAKE PADS RUBBING METAL ON METAL. ALSO THE REAR CALIPERS AREN'T RELEASING THE REAR ROTORS CORRECTLY DUE TO CALIPER SLIDE PINS NOT BEING LUBRICATED FROM THE FACTORY. FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTOR ARE WEARING NORMALLY. CAR WOULD NOT TURN KEY OR SOME TIMES START OR GO INTO GEAR. IT IS ALWAYS HIT AND MISS. WITH THIS CAR CAR STILL HAS ONLY 40 SOME THOUSAND MILES ON ENGINE. ALWAYS BROKE DOWN IN DRIVE WAY OR ANY WHERE EVER PARKED. WHEN DRIVING SOMETIMES SEVERAL DIFFERENT LIGHTS ON DASH COMES ON ALL AT ONCE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A REAL PROBLEM FROM 2010.
I AM THE VERY UNHAPPY DRIVER OF A 2008 CHEVY COBALT WITH 4 RECALL REPAIRS TO DATE. I REPORTED NOTICING PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING, STRUTS AND INTERIOR DASHBOARD LIGHTS AS EARLY AS SEPT 2010, WHILE HAVING ROUTINE SERVICE DONE TO MY COBALT. (THE INTERIOR DASH DIGITAL READ OUT LIGHTS HAVE ALWAYS GIVEN MISINFORMATION AND WOULD DIM ON A REGULAR BASIS.) I'VE RECENTLY BEEN EXPERIENCING THE POWER STEERING TOTALLY GOING OUT ON MY CAR (ONCE ON JUNE 25, 2014 AND AGAIN ON SEPT 4, 2014) WHICH MAKES IT PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER MY CAR. I'VE BEEN INVOLVED WITH THESE RECALL ISSUES SINCE 2010 AND HAVE FOLLOWED GM'S INSTRUCTIONS TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE, ONLY TO HAVE CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH THE CARS PERFORMANCE. IT'S NOT ONLY A INCONVENIENCE, BUT IS STRESSFUL AND DANGEROUS TO CONTINUE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I'VE REQUESTED TO HAVE GM HELP ME GET INTO ANOTHER CAR MORE THAN ONCE OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, BUT HAVE BEEN DENIED.
