THE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,699.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, A RATTLING SOUND CAME FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOOSE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BELOW 40 MPH TO REACH HIS DESTINATION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONLY WHEN DRIVING ABOVE 45 MPH, BUT THE RATTLING SOUND WAS HEARD AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAN TOBIN CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (2539 BILLINGSLEY RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43235) WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
2008 CHEVY COBALT WITH 88,000 MILES, IN GREAT EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR CONDITION STARTED EXPERIENCING A STRONG FUEL ODOR AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE. TOOK IN TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY NOTIFIED OWNER OF A RUPTURED FUEL LINE WHICH WAS CAUSING A FUEL LEAK. FUEL LEAK COMING FROM RUSTED FUEL LINES. THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE HAS BEEN UNDER RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC MAKE AND MODEL AND GEAR OF CAR BUT BECAUSE OWNER VIN # WASN'T UNDER RECALL, GM WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OR FIX. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT CAN LEAD TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION (I.E. AUTOMOBILE FIRE). HOW CAN THIS ISSUE BE UNDER RECALL FOR CHEVY COBALTS BUT NOT A SPECIFIC CAR DUE TO VIN #. CLEARLY THE ISSUE IS BEYOND WHAT THEY'VE RECALLED. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OTHER CHEVY COBALTS EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AND GM WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN AT A PARKING LOT, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
SMELLED THE STRONG SCENT OF GAS WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 CHEVY COBALT. WHILE PARKED I NOTICED THE CAR WAS LEAKING GAS NEAR THE FRONT/DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY AFTER NOTICING THAT THE PUDDLE OF GAS WAS GETTING LARGER FAIRLY QUICKLY. AFTER TAKING A LOOK AT THE CAR MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE PRESSURE AND THE RETURN FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE ALSO LET ME KNOW THAT HE HAD CALLED THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP FOR THE PARTS BUT THEY HAD JUST SOLD THEIR LAST ONES. APPARENTLY I WASN'T THE FIRST PERSON TO HAVE THIS ISSUE, AND ACTUALLY IT WAS QUITE A POPULAR PROBLEM WITH CERTAIN COBALTS.
ISSUE #1) FUEL LEAK FROM TOP OF FUEL TANK. THIS CREATES A STRONG FUEL SMELL IN CABIN DURING ANY OPERATION, AND FUEL LEAKING ON DRIVEWAY AFTER OPERATION. FUMES ARE STRONG ENOUGH THAT ANY OPEN FLAME IN CABIN WOULD DETONATE CREATING DEATH AND/OR CRITICAL INJURY. THE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE IN AUG 2017 COSTING OVER $600 DOLLARS. ISSUE #2) BOTH INTERIOR FRONT DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN RESULTING IN DOORS BEING UNABLE TO OPEN DOORS NORMALLY. TO OPEN DOORS, WINDOWS MUST BE CRANKED DOWN OPENING DOORS USING THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. THE FAILURE AREA IS WHERE DOOR LATCH CABLE CONNECTS TO REAR OF DOOR HANDLES. BOTH DOOR HANDLES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, BUT REPLACED SERVICE HANDLES HAVE SHARP EDGES FROM PLASTIC FLASH. BOTH ISSUES ARE CRITICAL TO SAFE VEHICLE OPERATION. THIS COULD RESULT IN DEATH AND/OR CRITICAL INJURY IF EITHER ISSUE FAILS DURING ANY VEHICLE OPERATION. AS A DISABLED VETERAN, HUSBAND AND FATHER, BOTH VEHICLE ISSUES ARE DANGEROUS AND LACK THE RESOURCES TO KEEP REPAIRING THESE FAILURES. AN INVESTIGATION, RECALL AND/OR REPLACEMENT IS NEEDED ASAP. *JS
WHILE LEAVING WORK ON BACK ROADS WITH A LOT OF TURNS MY POWER STEERING CAME ON. I GOT THE POWER STEERING REPLACED 3 YEARS AGO WITH A RECALL AND NOW THE POWER STEERING MOTOR IS NOT WORKING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
CAR IS SMELLING OF GAS AND LEAKING FROM TOP OF FUEL PUMP/TANK ONLY WHEN RUNNING. SCARED OF FIRE. HAVE SEEN THERE ARE RECALLS ON OTHER YEAR MODELS FOR SAME REASONS. HAVE KIDS WHO RIDE IN BACK SEAT GETTING SICK FROM GAS FUMES AND NO OTHER VEHICLES I CAN USE.
I FIRST HAD NOTICED MY FRONT PASSENGER SPEAKER WOULD CUT IN AND OUT. IT DIDN'T MATTER IF THE CAR WAS STATIONARY OR IF I WAS DRIVING. THE FOLLOWING WEEK I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT OF MY JOB AND THE DOORS LOCKS STARTED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING RAPIDLY BY THEMSELVES. AND NOW THEY RARELY EVER DO EITHER WHEN I TRY AND PUSH THE LOCK BUTTONS. SO THEY EITHER HAVE TO STAY LOCKED OR UNLOCKED DEPENDING THE MOOD OF THE CAR. THE FOLLOWING WEEK I HAD A GAS LEAK AND HAD TO HAVE IT SERVICED BECAUSE THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THAT PLASTIC PIECE TO FUEL SYSTEM BUT ONLY IN SOUTHERN STATES AND I LIVE IN THE NORTH. AND NOT TO LONG AFTER THAT MY TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WOULDN'T STAY ON OR IT WOULDN'T SHUT OFF BY IT'S SELF. ALSO DANGEROUS TRYING TO HOLD SWITCH ON WHILE MAKING A TURN.
FUEL SMELL TURNED INTO A SIGNIFICANT FUEL LEAK. ONLY NOTICED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STAIONARY.
MY DAD BOUGHT THE CAR FOR ME FROM A FRIEND WHO OWNS A SHOP AND A FEW MONTHS LATER IT STARTS SMELLING LIKE GAS REALLY BAD. I LOOK UNDER THE CAR AND THERE'S A GAS LEAK. AND MY CAR SMELLS LIKE GAS I SMELL LIKE GAS WHEN I GET OUT. SO I LOOK UP THE PROBLEM AND SEE THERE'S A RECALL ON THESE CARS AND I'M JUST NOT TRYING TO PAY ALL THAT MONEY ON A DEFECT ON THE CAR. I JUST NEED HELP BECAUSE CHILDREN, LITTLE BABIES RIDE IN MY CAR. AND THE GAS MAKES ME REALLY DIZZY.

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (HENDRICKS CHEVROLET IN SHAWNEE MISSION, KS) AND THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

MY 08 COBALT STARTED SMELLING LIKE GAS AND NOW IT IS DRIPPING FUEL RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE LEFT SIDE BACK TIRE. THE LEAK IS COMING FROM THE CLIP WHERE THEY HOSES CONNECT. I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF SEARCHING ABOUT THE FUEL LEAK IN FRONT OF THE LEFT SIDE REAR TIRE. A LOT OF OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT ISN'T CONSIDERED A RECALL IF ITS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE A 6 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WHO SITS BACK THERE AND IT SMELLS OF GAS TERRIBLE. AFTER READING ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN I DONT LIKE TO EVEN DRIVE IT!
WHEN YOU USE THE SIGNAL LIGHTS AND YOU TURN THEY DON'T TURN OFF AFTER YOU TURN AND THEY HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF MANUALLY. THIS CAR HAS 57269 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISUE

WHILE I AM DRIVING ANYWHERE, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SAFETY LOCK FEATURE COMES ON MY DASH BOARD SHOWING LOCKED AND THEN I LOSE POWER STEERING AND ALL THE OTHER FEATURES GO CRAZY ON THE PANEL, SUCH AS THE GAS, TEMP, AIR, ECT... I THEN HAVE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT FOR IT TO RESET ITSELF BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND MORE AND MORE AS TIME GOES ON AND IT'S SCAREY BECAUSE I LOSE MY POWER STEERING AND AM AFRAID FOR MY LIFE OR THE LIFE OF OTHERS. I HAVE HAD RELATED RECALL WORK DONE IT BUT IT DIDN'T LAST LONG AND NOW NO ONE WANTS TO DEAL WITH IT. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED HISTORY . MY VEHICLE NOW HAS 92000 MILES HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STARTED AT 59644 WHEN THE POWER STEERING MOTOR WAS REPLACED. MAYBE IT'S AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE INSTEAD????

JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM USED CAR DEALER ON MAR 9, 2017. DID NOT TEST DRIVE IT BEFORE HAND AS THE DEALER SAID BATTERY WAS LOW. NEXT DAY RETURNED AND SIGNED PAPER WORK, THINKING HE HAS REPLACED BATTERY SO DID NOT TEST DRIVE CAR AGAIN. WE STOPPED ON WAY HOME GOT SOME GAS IN VEHICLE, DRIVING AROUND 10-15 MINS I BEGAN TO SMELL STRONG GAS, SO STRONG IT WAS BURNING MY EYES AND GIVING ME A HEADACHE. NEXT MORNING LOOKED UP COMPLAINTS AND RECALLS FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR TO DISCOVER THERE IS FUEL LEAK KNOWN ISSUES. REALLY AFRAID TO DRIVE OR LET MY DAUGHTER DRIVE THIS CAR BACK AND FORTH TO COLLEGE NOW., AFRAID OF A FIRE OR EXPLOSION. F

I BOUGHT THIS 1 OWNER VEHICLE AS A SAFE, DEPENDABLE CAR FOR MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO COMMUTE TO SCHOOL AND WORK. RECENTLY THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND SHE HAD AN EXTREMELY HARD TIME GETTING HOME. NOW IT IS FINE, COMES AND GOES APPARENTLY. NOTHING OBVIOUS APPEARS TO BE WRONG WHEN I LOOKED INTO IT. MANY OTHER CONCERNS OF SAME PROBLEM EVIDENT ONLINE. GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM!
