REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS SHOT AT 12K MILES ON A 09 COBALT SS. *TR
1. CAR IS A DAILY DRIVER, SO NO ABUSE OR ANYTHING. 2. REAR BRAKES ARE SQUEALING AGAIN AFTER BEING REPLACED ONCE (PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP) 3. THE ROTORS AND PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ONCE, BUT IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. *TR
REAR BRAKES ON MY 09 SS COBALT WERE GROOVED SO I HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT THEM, THEY SHAVED THEM DOWN AND DID NOT REPLACE THEM WHICH THEY SHOULD, THESE BRAKES CONSTANTLY GRIND AND SQUEAK EVEN THOUGH ITS A BRAND NEW CAR. MY BRAKES ON MY 2000 IMPALA ARE FINE BUT FOR SOME REASON THE BRAKES ON THE COBALT GRIND AND MAKE LOTS OF NOISE AND DON'T SEEM HEALTHY. *TR
I HAVE A 09SS/TC AND I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY BACK ROTORS WITH LINES AND GROOVES IN THEM. I ONLY HAVE 4000 MILES ON MY CAR NOW. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 3500 AND THE SHOP MANAGER ARGUED WITH ME THAT IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND THAT THE BACK BRAKES ARE "AGGRESSIVE" STYLE PADS. AND HE ARGUED THAT THE BACK DO MORE STOPPING POWER THAN THE FRONT. THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET AND I KNOW THAT MANY OTHER CARS OF THE SAME MODEL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THE MAIN MECHANIC DID CONFIRM THAT IT ISN'T A NORMAL WEAR BUT SAID THAT THE CAR IS TOO NEW TO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. PLEASE HELP US OUT I REALLY DON'T WANT THIS TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR FOR ME TO HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL NEW ROTORS AND PADS AT MY EXPENSE BECAUSE OF THEIR MESS UP. *TR
MY DAUGHTER AND SERVAL PEARSON WERE HURT IN AND ACCIDENT DUE TO STARING PROBLEM RESULT OF 2009 COBALT BEING TOTAL AND SUED BY MANY PEARSON
I HAVE A 2009 COBALT SS, AND AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR BRAKES GRINDING, AND MAKING NOISE. I HAVE HAD THEM CHECKED AT 6,000 MILES AND THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE ALREADY REAL BAD. NOW AT 11,000 MILES HAD IT CHECKED OUT AGAIN AND THE INSIDE PAD IS COMPLETELY METAL TO METAL AND THE OUT SIDE PAD IS STILL LIKE NEW. I THINK THERE ARE STUCK CALIPERS AND MAKING ONLY THE ONE PAD DO ALL THE WORK. IT IS STARTING TO HAVE DECREASED BRAKING ABILITY AND GM STILL WONT WARRANTY IT. *TR
NO INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED AT THIS POINT, HOWEVER, I SEE THIS AS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY COBALT WITH BATTERY INSTALLED IN THE TRUNK. THE BATTERY VENT TUBE IS CONNECTED TO THE TOP OF THE BATTERY BY A PLASTIC ELBOW, A PLASTIC VENT TUBE IS CONNECTED TO THE MALE NIPPLE ON THE ELBOW. THE PLASTIC VENT TUBE INSIDE DIAMETER APPEARS TO BE TOO SMALL INSIDE DIAMETER FOR THE MALE NIPPLE. THE PLASTIC VENT TUBE IS SPLIT WHERE IT ATTACHES TO MY BATTERY WHERE IT IS PUSHED ONTO THE MALE NIPPLE WHICH WILL ALLOW THE VENTED HYDROGEN GAS TO VENT INTO THE TRUNK (WHICH IS PART OF THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT ONLY SEPARATED BY THE BACK SEAT) I THINK PRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AND POTENTIAL FIRE RISK. I CAN SEND YOU A PICTURE OF THE SPLIT VENT TUBE IF YOU NEED TO SEE IT. I ASSUME THAT THIS IS A FACTORY INSTALLATION DEFECT, THIS IS NOT AN IMPROPER REPAIR DEFECT, SO THIS SITUATION COULD EXIST ON OTHER MODELS USING THIS TYPE OF VENT TUBING. *TR
REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS EXHIBIT EXCESSIVE WEAR. ROTORS GROOVED AND PADS WORN ON INSIDE OF ROTORS ONLY. FINALLY HAD ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED @ 19,800 MILES. *TR
REAR BRAKES HAVE EXTREME GOUGING AFTER ONLY 7,000 MILES AND ARE STARTING TO SQUEAL AND YOU CAN TELL THEY ARE STICKING TO THE ROTORS AND NOT FULLY RELEASING WHICH CAN TURN INTO A BIG LIABILITY ISSUE. GM NEEDS TO REPLACE THE REAR ROTORS WITH A QUALITY PRODUCT THAT CAN WITHSTAND THE REAR PADS USED.... OR REALLY NEEDS TO CHANGE TO BREMBO ROTOR/CALIPER LIKE THE FRONT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT 5-SPEED, 2-DOOR. HE STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN SQUARE PIECE OF METAL STICKING OUT OF THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE METAL TO COME APART. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE, TO DATE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNDER 4,554.
WEARING OF REAR BRAKES. THIS INCLUDES DEEP SCORING OF THE ROTOR AND BRAKE PAD AS WELL AS LOUD GRINDING WHEN STOPPING. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 100 MILES. I AM NOW AT 5K MILES AND HAVE SEEN A FEW CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. PADS AND ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND AN ALIGNMENT DONE. *TR
MY REAR BRAKES ON MY 2009 COBALT SS WITH JUST OVER 17000 MILES ON IT WERE COMPLETELY GONE WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON TUESDAY JULY 28TH OF 2009. I FIRST NOTICED SOME UNUSUAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AT AROUND 15000 MILES. AT FIRST THE NOISE WAS SPORADIC AND I WAS NOT CONCERNED WITH IT BUT IT SOON DEVELOPED INTO A CONSTANT FRICTION TYPE NOISE THAT COULD NOT BE IGNORED. AFTER LEAVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALERSHIP ALL DAY THEY FOUND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. MY REAR BRAKES WERE METAL TO METAL WITH THE ROTORS. THE SERVICE EMPLOYEE ASKED ME IF I E-BRAKE SLIDE THE CAR, SINCE I WAS NOT EXACTLY FAMILIAR WITH THE TERM HE HAD TO CLARIFY ITS MEANING. I TOLD HIM I AM NOT AN E-BRAKE SLIDING KIND OF GUY AND ASKED HIM TO CHECK THE WARE ON THE TIRES IF HE DID NOT BELIEVE ME BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE PERFORMING A MANEUVER LIKE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE TIRES TO HAVE BALD SPOTS. WE THE SERVICE PEOPLE COULD NOT FIND ANY BALD SPOTS THEY RULED THE BRAKE AS A DEFECT AND COVERED THEM UNDER WARRANTY. I JUST FIND IT UNUSUAL THAT THE REAR BRAKES WOULD DO THIS SO EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE FRONT BRAKES LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE BARELY BEEN TOUCHED. IF I HAD BEEN TAKING A TURN OR HAVING TO BRAKE IN AN EMERGENCY I DON'T KNOW WHAT ALL COULD HAVE HAPPENED WHEN I HAVE REAR METAL TO METAL INSTEAD OF THE OEM BRAKE PADS TO PROTECT ME. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED COBALT SS FROM A DEALER IN MEMPHIS ON JULY 15, AND DROVE IT HOME TO KANSAS, ABOUT 900 MILES. IT HAD ABOUT 3300 MILES ON IT, AND HAD BEEN IN GM FLEET SERVICE. IT NOW HAS 4600 MILES. THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS ARE SCORED BADLY ON BOTH SIDES, AND MY LOCAL DEALER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME, CALLING IT "WEAR". IN MY OPINION, THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE WEAR RATE ON BRAKES, WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH A NUMBER OF OTHER COBALT SS OWNERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. *TR
PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR ON REAR BRAKES. THEY SQUEAL LOUD AT ONLY 5000 MILES AND THE REAR ROTORS SCARRED. THE ROTOR IS NOT SMOOTH BUT HAS RIDGES FROM THE DAMAGE. *TR
MY 2009 CHEVY COBALT SS TURBOCHARGED HAS REAR DISC BRAKES THAT ARE WEARING PREMATURELY, SCREECHING/SQUEAKING NOISES ARE OCCURRING. MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND I'VE DRIVEN IT FROM ANN ARBOR, MI TO LAKE ORION, MI COUNTLESS TIMES FOR WORK AND SCHOOL. THE FRONT BRAKES WORK GREAT BUT THE REAR ONES ARE CAUSING ME TROUBLE. I HAVE A 2009 COBALT SS THAT I BOUGHT NEW AND BEFORE I HAD THE FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 5000 MILES I WAS HAVING BRAKE SQUEALING THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT AND SAID ITS NORMAL IV HAD IT AT 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS SEVERAL TIMES AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE, I NOW HAVE 26000 MILE AND NO BACK BRAKES ROTORS ARE BADLY SCORN, SOMETHING HAS TOO BE DONE WITH THIS. *TR
THE REAR BRAKES ON THE 2008-9 COBALT SS ARE CAUSING ROTOR SCORING AT 400+ MILES. THE PADS ARE TOO AGGRESSIVE OR THE ROTORS ARE TOO SOFT AND THE ROTORS ARE BEING DESTROYED WHICH COULD LEAD TO BRAKE FAILURE IF NOT REPLACED. *TR
MY CAR HAS ONLY 11,000 MILES ON IT AND THE REAR ARE BRAKES ARE WARPED, WHICH IN TURN CAUSES MY CAR TO NOT STOP AS FAST IT SHOULD. THE ROTORS ARE ALL WARPED AND THE PADS ARE VERY CHEAP. I CALLED GM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BRAKES ARE COVERED TO 12,000 MILES, BUT ONLY 12 MONTHS. IT'S BEEN 14 MONTHS AND THEY WON'T EVEN HELP ME OUT. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS VERY OFTEN AND I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
BRAKE PAD FAILURE: AT ROUTINE SERVICE, 17,665 MILES, DEALER FOUND REAR, INNER BRAKE PADS EXCESSIVELY WORN. RIGHT PAD WAS GONE, ROTOR BEING SCORED. LEFT WAS LESS THAN 5% REMAINING. OTHER PADS WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS. REPLACEMENT PADS ARE NOT IN STOCK AT GM, BACK-ORDERED. *TR
REAR BRAKES WEAR VERY FAST AND UNEVENLY, THUS DESTROYING ROTORS. PRODUCES LOUD SQUEALING AND REDUCED BREAKING ABILITY. PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FROM CHEVY AND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITHIN THE COBALT COMMUNITY. *TR
HAD ONLY 2000 MILES ON MY 09 COBALT AND REAR BRAKES STARTED TO SCORE FROM INNER BRAKE PADS. DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T FIX DUE TO BULLETIN GM SENT OUT NOT TO REPLACE. HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE PADS ON OWN. CAR WOULD HAVE GRINDING NOISE FROM REAR BEFORE REPLACING BRAKE PADS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT LT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AFTER BEING INFORMED BY NEIGHBORS THAT THE HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ALL NIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE COMPUTER MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE COMPUTER SEVERAL MONTHS LATER. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V073000 (STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SHORTLY AFTER HAVING THE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100.
REASON FOR INSPECTION WAS DUE TO REAR BRAKE GRINDING SOUNDS. AFTER 12,000 MILES THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE COMPLETELY GONE, AND THE REAR ROTORS SEVERELY GROOVED AND WARPED. GM AGREED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE PADS AND ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY STATING THAT THEY'VE SEEN IT ON 3 OTHERS AND WERE TAKING THE SAME ACTION. *TR
I DRIVE A 2009 COBALT SS. WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE AND BACKING UP I NOTICE A LOUD SCREECHY SOUND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THIS WAS NORMAL. RECENTLY I LOOKED ON THREADS AND IT TURNS OUT LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO SEE THAT THE BRAKES ARE WEARING OUT ALOT FASTER IN THE REAR. *TR
UNEVEN RAPID REAR BRAKE PAD WEAR AND SCORING OF ROTORS. THE PROBLEM IS VERY COMMON WITH 2008 AND 2009 SS MODELS. *TR
MY 2009 COBALT SS HAS 10,800 MILES AND AT 7K MILES, THE REAR BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAK. YOU CAN FEEL THAT THE ROTORS IN THE REAR ARE GROOVED TERRIBLY, AND THE INSIDE OF THE REAR PADS ARE EVEN WORSE. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALER NOW GETTING THIS FIXED AFTER I HAD ALREADY TAKEN IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY WROTE IT OFF AS "WEAR AND TEAR". REAR ROTORS DO NOT GET WORN OUT IN 10K MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY DUPLICATED THE FAILURE THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INFORMED OF WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. HE WAITED TWO WEEKS FOR A CLAIM PERSON TO CALL HIM BACK. HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE MUST GO THROUGH HIS INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT COVER BRAKE FAILURE. THE DEALER TURNED THE MATTER OVER TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. IT HAS NOT YET BEEN DECIDED IF THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY OR THROUGH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 16,000.

THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS ON MY 2009 CHEVY COBALT SS ARE WEARING AND GROOVING EXCESSIVELY. SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW THEY WOULD SQUEAK LOUDLY AND I NOTICED THE DEEP RECESSES AFTER ONLY 1000 MILES. I'VE BEEN TO TWO DEALERSHIPS AND THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS NORMAL AND IT WAS HOW IT WAS DESIGNED, ONE EVEN SAID IT WAS TO KEEP RUST OF THE ROTOR! *TR
HAD TIRES ROTATED AT DEALER, THEY FOUND REAR BRAKE PADS WORN OUT COMPLETELY AND ROTOR SCORED AFTER ONLY 6000 MILES. HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME PROBLEM. DEALER CLAIMS IT WAS CAUSED BY DRIVING WITH THE E BRAKE ON. THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR UNLESS PAID, CLAIMS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER PADS WEARING OUT UNUSUALLY TOO SOON. *TR
MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT IS 10263782. I NOW HAVE TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKE PADS REPLACED AGAIN. WENT FROM NEW TO 3/32 IN LESS THAN 4000 MILES. IN LESS THAN 12,000 MILES THE REAR INNER PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND THE ROTORS RESURFACED ONCE. *TR

ON MY 09 CHEVY COBALT SS THE REAR BRAKES GOT VERY LOUD. THE FAILURE WAS THE INNER REAR BRAKE PADS WENT METAL TO METAL BY 8000 MILES FROM NEW. THE OUTER PADS WERE LIKE NEW. DEALERSHIP RESURFACED THE ROTORS AND REPLACED THE PADS. THEY HAD THE CAR 5 DAYS AND GAVE ME A RENTAL. 2000 MILES LATER AND THE BRAKES ARE GETTING LOUD AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY BECOME HESITANT AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CHANGE GEARS INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE UNKNOWN REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD ALSO EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE STALLING INTERMITTENTLY ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS:14V047000 (ELECTRICAL), 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL) OR 09V073000 (POWER TRAIN) BUT STATED THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE DESCRIBED IN EACH RECALL ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED FOR DIAGNOSIS AND POSSIBLE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15000.
2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INCIDENTS, WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH STICKING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN THE KEY, INCLUDING THE FIRST DAY SHE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE HOME. OVER THE YEARS, THE SWITCH HAS FAILED, WHICH LEFT HER STRANDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES, BUT THEY NEVER REPLACED ANY COMPONENTS REGARDING THE LOCK CYLINDER OR SWITCH. *JB UPDATED 05/14/14. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO GEAR. UPDATED 06/26/14 THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 07/10/14 UPDATED 07/30/14 THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS FIXED. UPDATED 09/02/14
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY TURNED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED FOR THE INCIDENT. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 33000.
AFTER HEARING OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY COBALT MAY NOW MAKE MORE SENSE THAN BEFORE MY DAUGHTER USING MY CAR, 2009 CHEVY COBALT, CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. WAS NOT SURE AT THE TIME AS TO WHY AND STATE PATROLMAN WAS CONFUSED AS WHY THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS AT THE TIME. BUT STEERING WAS SENSITIVE THEN AND SHE JUST LOST CONTROL, PER SAY. SHE NOW HAS BAD NIGHTMARES FROM THIS. THOUGH THE CAR WAS REPAIRED (ALMOST $5,500.) SHE IS A AFRAID TO SIT IN MY VEHICLE. TO ME IT STILL ACTS SENSITIVE. WHEN TRAVELING OVER 30-35 MPH, AND BRAKING HARD (LOCKING UP THE TIRES), THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. WHICH RESULTS IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, ETC. I WAS TRAVELING ON A SNOW COVERED ROAD AND WANTED TO KNOW HOW THE CAR HANDLED. WHILE GOING STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 35 MPH ON ICY ROAD, I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO LOCK UP THE TIRES. THE CAR CONTINUED STRAIGHT AHEAD (GOOD). I LET OFF THE BREAKS, AT WHICH POINT I NOTICED THE CAR WAS NOT RUNNING. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER- COULD NOT RECREATE, THE SECOND TIME I DEMONSTRATED IT FOR THEM. THEY WERE ABLE TO RECREATE IT ON ANOTHER CAR. THIS HAPPENED DURING THE WINTER OF 2009-2010. *TR

AT TIME OF PURCHASE OF A NEW 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT, IT WAS NOTICED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR HAD LIMITED ADJUSTMENT RANGE AND COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED FOR A CLEAR REAR VIEW BEFORE THE ADJUSTMENT LEVER REACHED THE END OF ITS RANGE. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT MANY CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN OF THE SAME DEFECT BUT AS YET THE FACTORY HAS PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. WHILE DRIVING, ANYTIME THAT NEED TO ACCELERATE, CAR WILL TAKE OFF AT MAX ACCELERATION AND DOES NOT RESPONDS TO FULL BRAKING, GEAR DOWN SHIFTING, NEUTRAL ENGAGEMENT, IT GETS FULLY OUT CONTROL, LIKE IF THROTLE STAYS IN HIGH, OR FULL ACCELERATION, EVEN WITHOUT PEDAL RESPONSE , IT IS THE MOST SCARING EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD. IT HAPPENED WHILE THERE WAS NOBODY IN FRONT OF ME. OTHERWISE I COULD HIT ANY CAR IN FRONT OR SIDE OF ME. I FEEL LUCKY THAT THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME WAS CLEAR. I CAN NOT IMAGING WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO AN INEXPERIENCE DRIVER. I WAS IN KENDALL DRIVE S.W. APPROACHING 127 AVE INTERSECTION WICH IS A VERY BUSSY INTERSECTION AND ROAD, BEFORE THIS MANY OTHER TIME VEHICLE ACTED WITH ERRATIC ACCELERATION, BUT ASSUME IT WAS GAS STATION BAS GASOLINE, ALWAYS USE 87 OCTANE GRADE, OR WATER IN THE GASOLINE. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS TAKING CARE OF. POSSIBLY HAS BEEN THE CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS INVOLVING THIS CAR, AND SINCE IT WILL HIT ANY CAR IN FRONT OF IT, BY LAW IT WILL BE YOUR FAULT WHEN HITTING SOME OTHER OR OTHERS VEHICLE, YOUR INSURANCE WILL COUNT AGAINST YOU AND GOD KNOWS IF SOMEBODY GETS KILL,OR IMPAIRED INCLUDING MYSELF, PLEASE CONTACT ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, GOING TO STOP THIS CAR, WICH I USE TO GO WORK DRIVING 44 MILES EACH WAY. WHY DO YOU HAVE THE RECALL ONLY FOR 2009, IT SHOULD BE FOR 2005 AND ALL MODELS AFFECTED, REGARDLESS OF THE YEAR! JUST PICKING ONE YEAR IS NOT ACCURATE FOR THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. "TRANSMISSION SHIFT POSITION SEQUENCE, STARTER INTERLOCK, AND TRANSMISSION BRAKING EFFECT", AND FMVSS 114, "THEFT PROTECTION AND ROLLAWAY PREVENTION". ON SOME OF THESE VEHICLES, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP MAY NOT BE FULLY ENGAGED. IF THE CLIP IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED, THE SHIFT LEVER AND THE ACTUAL POSITION OF THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MAY NOT MATCH. WITH THIS CONDITION, THE DRIVE COULD MOVE THE SHIFTER TO "PARK" AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, BUT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MAY NOT BE IN "PARK". *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT FROM CLASSIC CHEVROLET IN SUGARLAND, TX ON JUNE 8, 2009. ON JUNE 10, 2009 THE CLUTCH PEDAL FELL OFF AS A RESULT OF A RETAINER NOT BEING SECURED AT THE LORDSTOWN FACTORY. AT 8848 MILES, ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2009 I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR ITS FIRST SERVICE WORK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP. I INFORMED THEM THAT THE CLUTCH PEDAL HAD BECOME INOPERATIVE AND THAT I HAD SECURED THE LOCKING NUT BUT ASKED THEM TO CHECK IT FURTHER. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND OTHER RETAINERS MISSING FROM THE CLUTCHES MASTER CYLINDER. THE CAR HAD LEFT THE FACTORY IN AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN INJURY TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. *TR
