THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shake, and the vehicle would power off inadvertently. The vehicle would restart however, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.
IGNITION SWITCH WAS SAID TO BE THE ISSUE WITH MY CAR AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR YEARS 2005-2010 .IGNITION SWITCH SAFETY ISSUE. STARTER MOTOR IS GOOD. BATTERY IS GOOD. ALTERNATOR IS GOOD. WILL NOT CRANK OR START.
THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND SHUTDOWN WHILE TRAVERSING RT 287 NEAR BOONTON AT SPEEDS AROUND 65. I COASTED OFF AN EXIT AND CAME TO A STOP AT PARK AVE AND WOOTTON ST. WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR MY VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN SO I COULD EITHER FIX/CONTINUE DRIVING, IT HAD BECOME APPARENT THAT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT HAD STARTED TO COMBUST. NOTICEABLE BY THE SOUND OF THE FIRE. THAT LEFT ME RUSHING TO EMPTY OUT THE VEHICLE OF BELONGINGS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD BEFORE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY ENGULFED INTO FLAMES. NOTE THAT PRIOR TO THE ENGINE OVERHEATING ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING LIGHTS NOR INDICATORS HAD TURNED ON. WHEN VEHICLE OVERHEATED THE TEMPERATURE LIGHT TURNED ON AND THAT WAS ALL UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY ON FIRE AND HAD SHUT ITSELF OFF. *TR
STARTED LAST WEEK. AFTER PARKING THE CAR, NOTICED A SMELL AND UPON CHECKING, NOTICED A POOL OF GAS UNDER THE REAR DRIVER SIDE AREA (UNDER PASSENGER SEAT). IT LEAKS FOR 10 MINUTES AND STOPS. LEAK STARTS ONLY WHEN THE CAR IS ON AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING TURNED OFF. *TR

THIS VEHICLE HAS ONLY 46,134 ACTUAL MILES. I AM THE 2ND OWNER AND PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A CHEVROLET DEALER AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND AFTER I STOPPED THE CAR, I SMELLED GASOLINE AND ABOUT A PINT OF GAS LEAKED OUT OF THE GROUND JUST IN FRONT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEELS. FORTUNATELY, I WAS PARKING IN THE OPEN DRIVEWAY AND NOT IN MY GARAGE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LICENSED MECHANIC AND HE WAS ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. IT IS BACK ON THE ROAD. I READ IN THE NEWSPAPER THAT OTHER COBALT OWNERS HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I ENCOURAGE YOUR DEPARTMENT TO LOOK INTO THIS AS A MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM THAN JUST ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

FUEL LEAKING IN FRONT OF REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE. FUEL ORDER CAN BE SMELLED GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE CAR AS WELL. BIG PUDDLES OF FUEL ONCE THE CAR IS PARKED. MY FUEL GAUGE GOES DOWN PRETTY RAPIDLY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE (OBVIOUSLY).

FUEL LEAKING FROM DRIVER'S SIDE IN FRONT OF REAR TIRE. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND GM REFUSES TO RECALL THE ISSUE AND COVER IT, EVEN THOUGH THIS SAME ISSUE HAS IMPACTED NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS. WE ARE COMING OUT OF OUR OWN POCKETS FOR ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR EACH INSTANCE AT CERTIFIED CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. STARTED MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY DENTIST'S OFFICE. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BACK OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND LIGHT WENT OFF AND STEERING FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. DROVE TO INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP, WHERE I WAS TOLD THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING MOTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR ABOUT $1,100. NOTICED A RECALL FOR THIS PART ON NHTSA WEBSITE AND DROVE TO JOHNNY LONDOFF CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WAS UNDER THE RECALL BUT THAT THE PART HAD BEEN REPLACED IN 2010 ALREADY BY A DEALERSHIP AND WAS THEREFORE CLOSED. RETURNED TO INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACED. I MISSED A DAY OF WORK AND THE PART WILL NOT COME IN FOR THREE DAYS, SO I WILL HAVE TO BORROW A CAR TO GET TO AND FROM WORK THIS WEEK. WILL COST ABOUT $1100 TO REPLACE.

09 COBALT HAS FUEL LEAK WITH PUDDLE OF GAS IN FRONT OF DRIVER REAR TIRE. THIS IS A PROBLEM NOTED BY MANY OWNERS OF THIS CAR. 09 COBALTS PURCHASED IN ABOUT 6 STATES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THAT FOR SAFETY REASONS THIS RECALL PROBLEM WOULD APPLY TO ALL MODELS NO MATTER WHERE PURCHASED. I'M ASSUMING THE CAR PURCHASED IN AZ WAS MADE THE SAME WAY AS ONE PURCHASED IN PA. I NOTICED THE LEAK WHEN CAR WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY.
WHEN TURNING THE CAR ON THERE IS A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYING SERVICE AIR BAG. BUT IF YOU TURN IT OFF AND ON IT IS GONE. IT COULD BE A SHORT IN THE SYSTEM OR SOMETHING REALLY WRONG.
MY VEHICLE HAS A GAS LEAK. THE TWO FUEL LINES CONNECTED TO IT ARE RUSTED.

CAR HAS TERRIBLE START FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. IT WENT FROM WASHINGTON TO GULFPORT MISSISSIPPI. STARTED ABOUT A WEEK AGO SMELLED GAS. LOOKED UNDER FUEL TANK AND FOUND A SIZEABLE PUDDLE OR FUEL WHICH I ASSUME IS PRESSURIZING AS IT SITS AND THEN HAS TO PRESSURIZE THE FUEL SYSTEM AGAIN WHEN IT STARTS. IT'S PRACTICALLY A BOMB WITH WHEELS AND MY DAUGHTER SITS IN IT. IT WILL BE FINE STARTING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES IF YOU SHUT IT OFF AND CRANK IT AFTER IT WILL DO THAT ALL OVER AGAIN
INTERIOR OF CAR STARTED TO FILL UP WITH GASOLINE FUMES,WHILE ON THE ROAD.I HAD TO OPEN ALL THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF.I GOT OFF PARKWAY AND INSPECTED CAR FOR GAS LEAKS.THERE WERE NONE SO I TOOK LOCAL ROADS HOME.BY THE TIME I GOT HOME I WAS LIGHTHEADED .THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME ALL MY FUEL LINES WERE ROTTED OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED.
HELLO, I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY COBALT. IT WAS RUNNING OKAY. I WENT TO THE STORE FOR SOME DOG FOOD. PARKED THE CAR, CAME BACK TO GO BACK HOME AND THE KEY 🔑 IN THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN. IT WAS LOCKED OR JAMMED, DON'T KNOW. KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO TURN THE CAR ON!!! I WENT TO THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FROM GENERAL MOTORS ON MY 2009 CHEVY COBALT. I FOUND A NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID# 14V171000 THAT SHOWS THE RECALL FOR MY CAR. IT DESCRIBES AN IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. I CALLED THE CHUCK NASH CHEVROLET WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD REPAIRED THE RECALL. APPARENTLY THEY REPAIRED IT WITH A DEFECTIVE IGNITION-SWITCH OR NOT AT ALL. THE RECALL STATES THAT SOME VEHICLES WERE REPAIRED WITH DEFECTIVE OR USED PARTS. MARY BARRA, GENERAL MOTORS CEO STATED THAT ALL AFFECTED RECALL VEHICLES WOULD BE REPAIRED UP TO CUSTOMER SAFETY STANDARDS. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER. JUST PURCHASED 2009 CHEVY COBALT APRIL 2019 129,000 MILES, AUGUST 29, PUT 10 DOLLARS IN TANK, DID NOT GO 3MILES, CAR SHUT OFF, NEVER DID THAT BEFORE, IN MIDDLE OF STREET, IT WAS STRAINING TO START AGAIN, NEEDLE ON GAS GAGE JUST STARTED RECENDING TO LOW FUEL LIGHT, PULLED OVER ABUNDENT SMELL OF FUEL, LOOKED UNDER CAR FUEL WAS SPILLING OUT ON DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SIDE FUEL RAN OUT COMPLETELY, HAD BEEN SMELLING GAS AFTER TURN OFF 4DAYS PRIOR, HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE CAR SINCE, IF I PUT FUEL IN TANK DRIVE NORMALY GAS RUNS RIGHT OUT, CALLED DEALER SAID HE HEARD OF RECALL OF THIS PROBLEM BUT DID NOT GIVE ME ANY FURTHER ADVICE, SINCE THEIR WAS 6 RECALLS INCLUDING THIS PROBLEM PLEASE ADVISE ME ON WHAT TO DO PLEASE///////.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.

THE FAILURE COULD OCCUR TO THE VEHICLE IN HIGH HUMIDITY CLIMATES. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), WHICH WAS THE SAME FAILURE THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
FUEL LINE IS LEAKING IN 4 PLACES. SOME 2009 COBALTS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. DEALER TELLS ME ENTIRE LINE NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED FRONT TO BACK.
RUSTED AND LEAKING FUEL LINE UNDER THE CAR JUST IN FRONT OF THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE. WATER AND DEBRIS WAS TRAPPED INSIDE SILVER HEAT TAPE ACCELERATING THE RUST OF THE LINES.

HEAVY FUEL SMELL. AFTER RESEARCHING, FOUND FUEL LINE ALL RUSTED OUT AT CLAMP BETWEEN DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND RIGHT REAR WHEEL. THE CAR SAT IDLE FOR THREE DAYS AND THE TEMPS OUTSIDE WHERE VERY HOT. AFTER READING ON-LINE POSTS, I SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS VEHICLE HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
THE FUEL LINE STARTED LEAKING IN FRONT OF THE REAR TIRE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AND WAS HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME STARTING. I STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND FOUND A LARGE PUDDLE OF GAS UNDER MY VEHICLE.
MY CAR FUEL PUMP MODULATOR PROBLEM. THAT HAS BEEN ON RECALL. BUT NOT FOR MY VEHICLE. I DO NOT KNOW THE HISTORY OF WHAT STAT IT ORIGIONALLY WAS BOUGHT IN. BUT I THINK IF THOSE CARS HAVE RECALL WHY SHOULDNT MINE? IT NOW LEAKS GAS UNDER GAS TANK AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT GIVES ME HARD TIME. IT STARTED 7/2019. MAKES CAR BOG DOWN WHEN ACCELERATING. DOES IT SITTING AND WHEN MOVING
CAR WAS STATIONARY THEN GOT IN AND CAR WOULDN'T START AND KEY WOULDN'T GO TO OFF POSITION ONCE KEY WAS INSERTED. AFTER JUMP START ALL INFORMATION MILES ETC WAS CLEARED. WHEN DRIVING SEEMS LIKE IT WON'T GO INTO NEXT GEAR. SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND GOING SLOW EVEN 20 MPH RAMPS UP TO 4-4.5 RPM. POWER STEERING WARNING AND , AIRBAG WARNING STAYS ON IN ADDITION TO ENGINE LIGHT. TIRE PRESSURE INFORMATION STARTED WORKING ON 3 OF 4 WHEN STOPPED WORKING A YEAR AGO.
MY DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE FOR 3 DAYS ABOUT MAY 15TH-18TH. I TRIED ALL THE "TRICKS" AND NOTHING WORKED. I FINALLY AM ABLE TO OPEN IT BUT THE DOOR HAMDLE BROKE OFF SHORTLY AFTER. AND NOW TODAY 6/6/19 MY DRIVER DOOR WONT LATCH EVERY TIME I CLOSE IT EVEN AFTER DEGREASING ANE REGREASING THE LATCH. ALSO MY TORSION BARS AND STEERING BAR HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT THEY ONCE AGAIN HAVE COME LOOSE. THE DOORS HAPPEN IN PARK INNA DRIVEWAY AMD THE CAR SWAYING ISSUE I FEEL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ERIKSEN CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 325 1ST AVE E, MILAN, IL 61264, (309) 756-2700) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY CAR SMELLS LIKE GAS INSIDE AND OUT. CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT IT IS FUEL LINE LEAKAGE WHICH HAS BEEN REPORTED BY MANY FOR THIS MODEL. BUT FOR SOME REASON, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL WHICH WAS DONE IN 2012. FUEL LINE LEAK DID NOT HAPPEN IN MY CAR UNTIL NOW. IT IS LIKE DRIVING AROUND IN A FUEL BOMB WITH MY LITTLE KIDS. IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET ($1100) FOR A CAR THAT IS NOT WORTH MUCH.

IN ADDITION, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE REMAINING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WARNING INDICATORS WERE INOPERABLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.
