TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING LIGHT FLASHED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO REPLACED ALL OF THE BRAKE SENSORS ON FOUR OCCASIONS BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE ABS BRAKES FAULT WILL OCCUR ON OCCASIONS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A MONTH. IT APPEARS OUT OF NO WHERE. THE BRAKES BECAME SOFT AND NOISY. I CAN PULL OVER AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTART AND THE PROBLEM SELF CORRECTS. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN NOW. I AM GETTING A LITTLE SCARED THIS MAY HAPPEN WHEN I NEED THE BRAKES. *TR
THE ABS IS A CONSTANT ISSUE ON THIS MODEL. IF IT FAILS WHILE DRIVING, WHICH IT HAS FOR ME AS WELL AS A LOT OF OTHERS, IT IS HARD TO STOP THE TRUCK. WHILE YOU TRY TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ABS IS ACTIVE AND FIGHTS AGAINST YOU MAKING IT HARD TO STOP IN TIME. MY 2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO WILL ACTIVATE THE ABS SYSTEM DURING BRAKING ON WARM DRY PAVEMENT AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP. DURING THESE EVENTS THE ABS FAILURE WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. MY TRUCK STARTED GRINDING EVERYTIME I USED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP YOU. I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER ([XXX]). THE HOOKED IT UP TO A COMPUTER AND IT SHOWED BOTH ABS SENSORS WERE BAD IN THE FRONT HUBS. THEY SAID IT WOULD BE AROUND &1200 TO FIX THEM SINCE IT WILL TAKE UP TO 8 HOURS FOR THE TYPE OF SENSOR INSIDE THE HUB. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE YOU ARE UNABLE TO STOP, AND THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE ON EDMUNDS.COM COMPLAINING TO GM ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY COLORADO. SENSOR AND NEW HUB IS ESTIMATED BY DEALER TO BE $762.00!!!!DEALER ALSO STATED GM IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS DUE TO POOR/FLAWED DESIGN. CONTACTED CHEVROLET BUT THEY ALWAYS POINT ME TO DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO READ COMPUTER CODE FOR ERROR AT A COST OF $100 AND THEN WILL PRICE OUT THE COST FOR REPAIR.
