2005 CHEVY COLORADO ABS BRAKES . ABS FAULT LIGHT COMES ON AND BRAKES START PULSE THEN GET HAND TO PUSH DOWN ON AN THE TRUCK IS HARD TO STOP VERY FAST. THERE SEEM TO BE A LOT OF CHEVY COLORADOS AND GMC CANYONS THAT HAVE THIS GOING ON IN YEARS 2004 THROUGH 2007 THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND SOME ONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY HAPPENED . GM NEEDS TO RECALL ALL THESE PICKUP AND FIX THEM . ALSO THE WHEEL HUB THAT THE ABS SENSOR CONNECTS TO ALSO HAS TO BE REPLACE . IT DOS NOT MATTER WHAT THE MILES ARE 1 TO 100,00 MILES ON THE AUTO IT HAPPENS AND THIS NEEDS FIXED NOW. *TR
2005 CHEVY COLORADO WIRING HARNESS ON FAN CONTROL BURNT UP AT MOTOR PLUG. WIRES IN HARNESS STARTED SMOKING AND MELTED PLASTIC. HARNESS AND RESISTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
OWN A 2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO AND AM HAVING REPEATED EVENTS WITH THE ABS WARNING LIGHT. THE LIGHT CAME ON RECENTLY AND THEN DISAPPEARED; FOLLOWED BY RETURNING AGAIN YESTERDAY ALONG WITH BRAKE LIGHT WARNING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE OWNING AND DRIVING ONE OF THESE. AFTER INVESTIGATING OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THIS ISSUE IT LOOKS LIKE GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND DO A RECALL. *TR
FRONT LEFT ABS SENSOR ON A 2005 CHEVEROLET COLORADO. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 88,000 MILES ON IT AND THE ABS FAULT SIGNAL COMES ON EVERYTIME I DRIVE CAUSING MY BRAKES TO BECOME STIFF WHICH STOPS THEM FROM WORKING CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HIT SOMEONE EVERYTIME I GO TO A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. *TR
FAULTY WIRING HARNESS THAT BURNS UNDER THE DASHBOARD/GLOVEBOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE (FEET AREA). THE HARNESS CONTROLS THE BLOWER MOTOR FAN SPEEDS 1,2,3 SETTING AND HAS A RESISTOR. THE WIRING HARNESS/LOOP BEGINS TO MELT AND SUBSEQUENTLY BURN. MY PASSENGER BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION AFTER IT SINGED HIS SHIN; I UNPLUGGED THE WIRING LOOP PRIOR TO CATCHING ON FIRE. INTERMITTENT ABS FAILURE. CAUSES BRAKES TO APPLY UNEVENLY AND SOMETIMES WITHOUT WARNING. PROBLEM COMES AND GOES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED A VALVE COVER ROCKER AND GASKET HOSE. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION IN THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE RELAY FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS UNDER THE DASH HAS FAILED 4 TIMES ON MY CHEVY COLORADO. THE LAST TWO FAILURES OCCURRED AFTER THE PART WAS REPLACED WITH THE SUPPOSEDLY REDESIGNED PART FROM THE RECALL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL TO OPERATE AND NO INDICATION IS GIVEN TO THE DRIVER. *TR
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS THE ABS STARTS GRINDING FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES, AFTER FIVE MINUTES THE BRAKES STOP AND AN ABS FAULT APPEARS DISENGAGING THE ABS SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM RESTARTS AFTER THE CAR IS RESTARTED AND THEN THE SAME ISSUE WILL OCCUR. SOMETIME WHEN THE TRUCK NEEDS TO MAKE A QUICK STOP THIS WILL BEGIN TO ACTIVATE THE FAULT ISSUE. SOME TIMES THE ISSUE IS SERIOUS ENOUGH TO ENGAGE A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM AND THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT WILL ALSO COME ON. *TR

2005 CHEVY COLORADO ABS BRAKES NOT WORKING RIGHT. WHEN ON DRY PAVEMENT THE ABS BRAKES COME ON AND IT IS HARD TO STOP THE TRUCK CHEVY COLORADO OWNERS HAVE HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH THE ABS BRAKES ON THESE TRUCKS AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THESE ABS BRAKE SOME DAY CHEVY NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM SOON . THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL MADE ON ALL COLORADO AND CANON THIS BRAKE PROBLEM IS NOT CHEAP FOR OWNERS TO FIX HELP! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROLS WOULD ILLUMINATE WITHOUT APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. THE AIR CONDITIONER SWITCH WOULD SHUT ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING OVER A POT HOLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. A LOCAL MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, IT WAS NON REPAIRABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO 4DR CREW CAB 2WD . 33,000 MILES. ABS ERRORS, TRAC ERRORS AND BRAKE ERRORS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. TODAY ALL THREE ERRORS AT SAME TIME, ONE AFTER THE OTHER. HAPPENED AFTER DRIVING DOWN STREET TO CHILD'S SCHOOL AND BACK, NEVER GOING OVER 25 MPH. TRAC GRINDS FIRST, AND THEN ABS ENGAGES AT LOW SPEEDS THUS FAR. KNOWN PROBLEM FOR OTHER COLORADO OWNERS ON EDMUNDS.COM SITE. CHEVROLET NEEDS TO RECALL THESE TRUCKS BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT. ALSO HEAT SENSORS ONLY ALLOW HEAT AND AIR TO WORK ON HIGH. THIS HAPPENED AROUND THE SAME TIME WE HAD THE INITIAL ABS PROBLEM DURING SUMMER OF 2010, ALTHOUGH THE FIRST TIME WE RECEIVED NO ERRORS FOR ABS AND WERE CLUELESS AS IT IS INTERMITTENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THICK SMOKE ESCAPING FROM THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED FLAMES UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE CONTACT DID NOT STATE IF THERE WERE ANY INJURIES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
ABS FAULT LIGHT CONSTANTLY COMES ON/GOES OFF, AND IT IS APPARENT THAT THE SYSTEM IS FAILING. *TR
THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. THE ABS ACTIVATES WHEN DRIVING ON DRY ROADS. WHEN BRAKING, THE PEDAL VIBRATES AND PUSHES BACK ON MY FOOT, WHILE MAKING A SPRINGING NOISE. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO CRASHING NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE OF THE ABS ACTIVATING AND THE LACK OF BRAKING WHEN THE ABS ACTIVATES. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS UPWARD OF $1000 PER WHEEL AND THE CODE IS INDICATING BOTH FRONT WHEELS. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THE ISSUE IS COMMON, BUT GM REFUSES TO ISSUE RECALL. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

AFTER ENGAGING THE BRAKES NUMEROUS TIMES, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP YET THE WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

"ABS FAULT" READS ON MY DASH IN MY 2005 CHEVY COLORADO. HAVE HAD MY TRUCK IN AND OUT OF THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES ALREADY. HAVE HAD THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR REPLACED COSTING ME A PRETTY PENNY OF OVER 300 DOLLARS AND COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE. HAS BEEN CHECKED OVER AND OVER BY THE DEALERSHIP COMPUTER READER AND EACH TIME HAS COME UP WITH NOTHING CAUSING THE ISSUE AND HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. PROBLEM OCCURS EVERYTIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE NORMALLY AS SOON AS I TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND THE CAUSING THE ABS TO RUN AUTOMATICALLY ON A DRY SURFACE MAKING IT VERY HARD TO STOP WHEN NEEDING TO. I AM FED UP WITH THE PROBLEM AND REQUEST IT TO BE FIXED. YET TO BE DONE! *TR
I HAVE A Z71 CREW CAB 4X4 MODEL. THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES AT LOW SPEED ON DRY PAVEMENT WITH ZERO WHEEL SLIPPAGE. THIS IS USUALLY FOLLOWED BY THE ABS FAILURE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. THE SYSTEM RESETS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THE PROBLEM RECURS THE NEXT DAY IN AN ENDLESS CYCLE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL WEB FORUMS. ABS BRAKES HAVE BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME AND OTHER MANUFACTURERS DO NOT HAVE THE RECURRING PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCED WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE TIME IS LONG PAST TO MAKE CHEVY DO A RECALL. *TR
MY TRUCK WONT START DO ALARM OR ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM IT CRANK BUT WONT START. *TR
THIS FAILURE STARTED WITHOUT CAUSE NOR WARNING. ABS PROBLEM. WHEN TRUCK STARTS AND IS DRIVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT, THE FIRST OR SECOND TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED, THE ABS WILL ENGAGE, LIMITING MY BRAKING ABILITY. A MINUTE LATER "ABS FAULT" WILL APPEAR ON MY DASH. THE BRAKES WILL WORK FINE FOR THE REST OF MY DRIVE, EXCEPT NO ABS WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS EVENT CAN HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES DAILY, BUT USUALLY DURING THE FIRST MORNING START. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET, STILL RESEARCHING. *TR
SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST SIX MONTHS I HAVE BEEN LEFT STRANDED TEMPORARILY BY MY COLORADO NOT CRANKING. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO RHYME OR REASON TO IT. SOME DAYS IT CRANKS FINE. OTHERS, IT MAY TAKE AS LONG AS 45 MINUTES AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET IT TO START. I HAVE FOUND MANY FELLOW COLORADO OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND IT SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY PASS CODE SWITCH/SENSOR IN THE IGNITION. I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE DUE TO NUMEROUS OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
2005 CHEVY COL 3LT. AFTER3YRS AND 2 MONTHS OF HAVING IT I HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND DOOR LOCK NOT WORKING. ALSO FUEL GAUGE WOULD DROP TO EMPTY. FUEL FLOAT WAS STICKING! NOW AT 4 1/2 YRS THE FUEL PUMP HAS 'SHORTED OUT'. TRUCK WOULD NOT START. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND APPROACHING A STOP WHEN HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE INOPERABLE. IN ADDITION, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED DURING ACTIVATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
AC BLOWER FAN WORKS IN HIGH ONLY. UPON CHECKING THE WIRING I NOTICES THE RESISTOR AND THE WIRE HARNESS WERE BURNT WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM. I REPLACED THE WIRE HARNESS AND RESISTOR WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM. UPON FURTHER SEARCHING I FOUND MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND SOME THAT ENDED UP IN FIRES UNDER THE DASH. *TR
MY 2005 COLORADO BRAKES WILL LOCK UP WHEN COLD. ESPECIALLY AFTER SOME MOISTURE. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING AND A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE, I HAVE GOOTEN CLOSE TO GETTIJNG REAR-ENDED WHEN THEY LOCK UP. *TR THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO INVALIDATE MY ABS. THE TRUCK STARTED DOING IT AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED, AND THEY ARE FINE. MY 1993 S-10 DID THE SAME EXACT THING. I EVENTUALLY GOT RID OF THE S-10, BUT NOW I HAVE THE VERY SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS COLORADO. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. HELP. HELOP. HELP. HELP.
AS PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V139000 AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V310000 BRAKE LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. SINCE REPLACEMENT (APPROX. 10,000 MILES) BRAKE LIGHTS AND CRUISE MALFUNCTIONED. THIS LEFT DRIVER WITHOUT OPERABLE BRAKE LIGHTS. DRIVER WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, SAFETY WAS COMPROMISED. MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPLACE BRAKE LAMP ASSEMBLY AT COST, BECAUSE THE SAFETY RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED ONCE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION MODULE FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL SPORADICALLY AND WITHOUT WARNING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER A PERIOD OF YEARS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THEN RESTART THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY. THE COOLING/HEATING BLOWER FAN SPEED RESISTOR AND WIRING HARNESS ON THE 2004-2009 CHEVY COLORADO HAS A SHORTING PROBLEM WHICH CAUSES THE TRUCK TO HAVE A SMOKE SMELL AND MAY LEAD TO A FIRE IF NOT CHECKED ON. I FOUND MINE AFTER SMELLING SMOKE FOR A FEW MONTHS AND STARTED CHECKING WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. I FOUND THE FAN SPEED RESISTOR CONNECTOR AND ASSOCIATED WIRING HARNESS BURNT AND SLIGHTLY MELTED. I WOULD HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND DID NOT WANT TO PAY THERE HIGH LABOR COSTS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME CHANGING THIS OUT IN THE LAST YEAR AND I FOUND THAT THERE IS A COMMON GROUNDING POINT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FENDER WALL WHICH OVER TIME BECOMES CORRODED AND MAKES A BAD GROUND MOST LIKELY CAUSING THE SHORTING PROBLEM. I THEN HAVE TO WAIT 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO RESET. I'VE CONTACTED GM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THAT HAPPENS. WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP BY A DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY NEEDED THE PROBLEM TO HAPPEN THERE FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE AND THAT SCANNING IT WOULD DO NO GOOD. WHEN I HAVE TO BE SOMEWHERE, I HAVE TO NOW PLAN TO LEAVE AT LEAST 10 MINUTES EARLY IN CASE MY TRUCK DOESN'T START. THE HVAC FAN MOTOR RESISTOR & CONNECTOR MELTED AROUND ONE OF THE PRONG CONNECTIONS AND WIRE. THE RESISTOR AND WIRE HARNESS ARE LOCATED JUST UNDER AND BEHIND THE GLOVEBOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE RESULT OF THE BURNING OF THESE PARTS IS THAT THE BLOWER SPEEDS OF 1-3 DO NOT WORK BUT 4 STILL FUNCTIONS NORMALLY. THIS PROBLEM IS MORE THAN AN ANNOYANCE OF THE FAN SETTING BECAUSE THE CAUSE IS MELTING WIRES AND BURNING CONNECTIONS NEAR THE PASSENGER'S FEET. HOPEFULLY THIS CONNECTION CAN BE RECALLED AND REDESIGNED BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE AS EVIDENCE FROM THIS BLOG. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THERE WERE NO SIMILAR COMPLAINTS TO THE CONTACT'S AND DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED BUT DID NOT GENERATE ANY FAILURE CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 27,000.
