LIKE ALL THE OTHER REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ ONLINE ABOUT THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 CHEVY COLORADO. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK 4 YEARS AGO ALMOST BRAND NEW AND I'M STILL PAYING FOR IT BUT CAN'T MOVE IT BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT PASS THE STATE EMISSIONS TEST. I HAVE SPENT ABOUT $1,000 TRYING TO FIX MY TRUCK, BUYING PARTS AND REPLACING THEM BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AT THE END I WAS TOLD IT HAD SEVERAL MISFIRES AND HAD TO DO WITH THE CAMSHAFT SOLENOID POSITION. THE TRUCK WOULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE GOING TO AN INTERSECTION OR A STOP SIGN . I WAS TOLD AND ALSO READ THAT MY ONLY SOLUTION TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS TO PUT IN ANOTHER ENGINE BUT WITH TIME THE SAME PROBLEM WILL COME BACK. I GUESS THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE HANDLED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY'RE THE ONES WHO NEED TO EITHER FIX THEM, GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK OR SOMETHING. IS NOT FAIR THAT WE AS CONSUMERS HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THEY DID WRONG. NOW MY TRUCK IS JUST STANDING THERE NOT ABLE TO DRIVE IT AROUND AND MEANWHILE I HAVE TO USE SOMEONE ELSE VEHICLE TO MOVE AROUND OR GO TO WORK. *TR
DESCRIPTION: ABS FAILURE, TRANSMISSION, LEAKS (SELECT ABOVE WON'T WORK) ABS WARNING LIGHTS GOES ON INTERMITTENTLY AND BRAKES FAIL TO FUNCTION. TRANY STICKS IN 4 WD & WON'T GO INTO 2WD, DRIVER FLOORGETS ABOUT 1/2 INCH WATER ON FLOOR FROM RAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE ODOR EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND CONCLUDED THAT THE FUEL MODULE HAD RUSTED AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000. UPDATED 4/4/11 *CN UPDATED 06/02/11
2006 CHEVY COLORADO 4 CYL. 2.3L CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR WENT BAD AT 68,000 MILES CAUSING ROUGH IDLE, SOME STALLING, AND LOSS OF POWER. ORIGINALLY CHANGED CAMSHAFT SOLENOID DUE TO MISSING SCREEN. PROBLEM CAME BACK IMMEDIATELY, DEALER TORE APART ENGINE AND SAID THE ACTUAL CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR NEEDED REPLACED. COST $1200. TRUCK WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW, AND SERVICED ON SCHEDULE. HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE COLORADOS, AND MUST BE BECAUSE THERE IS EVEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT IT. GM REFUSES TO PAY FOR IT UNLESS STILL UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, WHICH FOR MY YEAR EXPIRES AT 36,000 MILES OR 3 YEARS. AT 67,000 MILES, PARTS IN THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT BE TEARING UP. IT IS POOR QUALITY AND DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING. *TR
A 2006 CHEVY COLORADO WAS HAVING MISFIRES PRIOR TO SEPTEMBER 2010. THIS CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AND SO I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE DIAGNOSIS IS THE SAME FOR THOUSANDS OF CHEVY COLORADO ENGINES AS THEY NEED NEW SEALS, BOLTS, AND A NEW HEAD. MY SERVICE MANAGER SAID THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS DUE TO A MECHANICAL FLAW AND NOT WEAR AND TEAR. THESE ENGINES HAVE PUT A MAJOR BURDEN ON GENERAL MOTORS/CHEVROLET CUSTOMERS AS THEY HAVE TO SPEND LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO CORRECT A MECHANICAL FLAW NOTICED BY MANY CERTIFIED MECHANICS. PLEASE TAKE THIS INFORMATION INTO CONSIDERATION AS I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH IN FINDING THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM AND NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN FAILED BY THIS SUCH COMPANY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WIRING FOR THE REAR DOOR FAILED AND WAS CAUSING THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT IF INVOLVED IN A CRASH, THE AIR BAGS POTENTIALLY WOULD NOT DEPLOY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC LINE THAT WENT FROM THE FUEL TANK TO THE ENGINE WAS CRACKED AND CAUSING A LEAK. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT FUEL WAS BEING SPRAYED NEAR THE EXHAUST PIPE, WHICH THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO A FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIRBAG SENSOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INTAKE BOOT HOSE, CAM SHAFT SENSOR, FUEL CAP, CRANK SHAFT SENSOR, WATER PUMP, MANIFOLD PRESSURE, AND THERMOSTAT NEEDED REPAIRING. THE COMPONENTS WERE REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,171.

ABS BRAKES RANDOMLY ENGAGE OR ENGAGE DURING NORMAL APPLIED BRAKING. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVY COLORADO, THE ABS FAULT MESSAGE COMES UP DAILY, AND THE ABS ENGAGES FOR NO REASON, MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO START. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND CAN BE FOUND ALL OVER THE INTERNET, INCLUDING EDMUNDS.COM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THERE IS NO RECALL. *TR
2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO 3.5 LITER 4X4 FUEL LEAK AT THE FUEL TANK WHERE THE FUEL FEED LINE CONNECTS TO THE FUEL TANK BY A QUICK CONNECTOR. THIS IS A HIGH PRESSURE LINE AND THE FUEL WAS SPRAYING OUT WHICH COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY CAUSED A FIRE AND EXPLOSION FROM THE HOT EXHAUST. IT APPEARS THAT SAFETY IS BEING COMPROMISED FOR QUICK ASSEMBLY. COMPLAINT # 2 ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED WHEN CODES FOR THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. WHEN CODE IS CLEARED OR ERASED FULL POWER RESUMES. IT APPEARS THAT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REDUCE POWER FOR THIS CODE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE POWERING STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE TURNING ON A CURVY ROAD. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING FUNCTIONED PROPERLY AGAIN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE POWER STEERING BOX AND THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,900.
1. AT ALL TEMPERATURES THE VEHICLE HAS "HARD SPOTS" WHILE TURNING AT LOW SPEED. 2. IT OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. 3. IT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AT THIS TIME, BECAUSE THE MECHANICS CAN'T ISOLATE THE EXACT PROBLEM, AND I DO NOT HAVE THE CAPITAL TO SWAP PARTS UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. *TR
ABS BRAKE HUB/ SENSOR ....BRAKES GO INTO ABS MODE WITHOUT CAUSE OR REASON. BRAKE PEDAL GOES INTO ABS MODE, WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED TRUCK PULLS HARD TO THE LEFT. CHEVROLET HAS REPLACED THREE HUB ASSEMBLIES OF WHICH I HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR TWO. DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
2006 COLORADO WILL NOT START, FAN ONLY WORKS ON HIGH SPEED, ALL EXTERIOR LIGHT FAILED AT SAME TIME, ALL STEREO COMPONENTS HAVE GONE OUT, DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND REPLACED, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER RANDOMLY NOT WORKING. ABS LIGHT RANDOMLY COMING ON. THESE ARE ALL OF THE MAJOR PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN OCCURRING WITH THIS TRUCK. THE NON-STARTING IS THE IGNITION HOUSING MODULE, THAT GM IS AWARE IS A PROBLEM. I HAVE TRIED MANY MANY TIMES TO EXPRESS THESE PROBLEMS TO GM. THEY TELL ME THEY ARE UNRELATED AS THEY ARE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FOR DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE VEHICLE. MY RESPONSE HAS BEEN THEY ARE ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE SAME VEHICLE. I HAVE READ A LOT OF ON LINE COMPLAINTS AND THEY ALL SEEM TO BE THE SAME PROBLEMS. GM NEEDS TO BE A STAND UP COMPANY, AND STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT LIKE THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY DO. THESE PROBLEMS ARE OCCURRING SOME MUCH NOW MY TRUCK WILL BE IN THE SHOP TWICE THIS MONTH FOR DIFFERENT ELECTRICAL REPAIRS. BOTH REPAIRS BILLS BEING IN EXCESS OF $300.00 - $500.00. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE JUST DIE IN INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. *TR
2006 CHEVY COLORADO- 4WD- Z71, EXTEND CAB 1. PREMATURE REAR BRAKE SHOE WEAR (MORE THAN FRONT DISK); 2. RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT BLOWS OUT REPEATEDLY AND SHOWS SHORTOUT BURNS ON CONTACTS AT BULB SOCKET. REPLACING BULB JUST BLOWS EACH TIME. 3. REAR WINDOW LEAKS IN HEAVY RAIN STORMS. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON DUE TO SEVERAL MISFIRES. GOT THIS CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE CYLINDER HEAD AS THE MANUFACTURER CREATED A FAULTY SEAL FOR THESE ENGINES AND THEY TEND TO LEAK AT IDLE. THIS FIX WAS QUOTED AT 3000 DOLLARS. I CHECKED AROUND AND FOUND A BULLETIN RELEASED BY CHEVROLET STATING HOW THEY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND BASICALLY SAYING HOW TO FIX IT. BASICALLY CHEVROLET OWNS UP TO THIS BEING THEIR MISTAKE BUT IS UNWILLING TO HELP OUT THE VEHICLE OWNERS. THEY WANT US TO PAY 3000 TO FIX A VEHICLE THAT IS SUFFERING FROM THEIR MISTAKE. CHEVROLET SHOULD BE WILLING TO COUNT THEIR LOSSES AND HELP OUT OWNERS WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TURNED THE KEY AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START BUT WHEN HE RELEASED THE KEY, THE VEHICLE STARTED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIANS DID NOT LOCATE A FAILURE WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START UNTIL AFTER WAITING TEN MINUTES. THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE FAULTY PASS LOCK CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
ROOF ON MY 2006 COLORADO HAS CAVED IN NEXT TO SUNROOF, THE APPEARS TO BE NO SUPPORT AND PROBABLY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OFFERED WITH SUNROOF. *TR
PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THEY STARTED TO PULSATE AS IF IT WAS HARD BRAKING AND I WENT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AND INTO THE ONCOMING LANE. THANK GOD THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE AND GET OUT OF THE LANE OF TRAFFIC. SINCE THEN THE ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY AND I LOOSE THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I BELIEVE THE FRONT HUBS MAY BE FAILING OR THE SPEED SENSORS WHICH IS BUILT INTO THE FRONT HUBS ARE FAILING.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 10-15 MPH, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED DUE TO ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER THE CONTACT WAITED FIVE TO TEN MINUTES. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS PERFORMED TWICE WHICH DETECTED NO TROUBLE CODES. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,500.
2006 CHEVY COLORADO ABS BRAKE FAULTS. LIGHT COMES ON AND BRAKES PEDAL HARD TO PRESS. BRAKES SEEM TO NOT WANT TO STOP TRUCK NORMALLY. *TR
VEHICLE FAILS TO START AFTER SHUTOFF. PASSLOCK FAILURE. HAPPENS REGULARLY. *TR
THE REAR BRAKES LOCK UP AT SLOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO STOP. THEY WILL DO THIS IN SUCH A WAY THAT CATCHES YOU OFF GUARD AND THROWS YOU FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED A FEW SERIOUS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THE LOCK UP TAKES AWAY CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. THE SEVERITY OF THE LOCK UPS VARIES SOMEWHAT. THEY MAY LOCK THEN UNLOCK BUT THEY CAN JUST AS EASILY LOCK UP AND BRING THE TRUCK TO A SKIDDING STOP. THEY ARE ALSO SQUEALING SEVERELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL FAILED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE HEATER BLOWER SWITCH ONLY WORK ON THE FOURTH SETTING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000.
PASSLOCK FEATURE ENGAGES AND THE ENGINE WILL NOT START. ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT THIS FEATURE BLOCKS FUEL FROM ALLOWING ENGINE TO FIRE. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OUT OF THE BLUE. I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE GETTING GAS AND IT WON'T START, PASSLOCK HAS STRUCK! *TR
2006 CHEVY COLORADO WILL NOT START WITH PROPER KEY. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START VEHICLE, IGNITION SWITCH MALFUNCTIONS AND WILL MAKE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM THINK VEHICLE IS BEING STOLEN. PROPER KEY IS BEING USED AND SPARE KEY HAS BEEN USED TO VERIFY PROBLEM. HAVE RESEARCHED INTERNET AND LOT OF THE CHEVY COLORADO'S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM NEW OR NOT. GM WANTS $400 TO FIX A CLEARLY FAULTY PART. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVY COLORADO WITH ONLY 42,000 MILES, MY ISSUE IS THE ABS FAULT LIGHT APPEARS ON THE INFORMATION CONSOLE AND STAYS LIT. I'VE GONE TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO HAVE THE ANSWER. I'VE BEEN ON A FEW COLORADO FORUMS AND IT ALL SEEMS TO BE THE SAME COMPLAINT, THEIR ABS/BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER. *TR
MY 2006 CHEVY COLORADO IS HAVING ABS PROBLEMS. BRAKES ARE SQUISHY AND PUMPING OWN THEIR OWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. SOMETIMES WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES THEY AREN'T TOTALLY THERE. THE PEDDLE WILL ALMOST GO TO THE FLOOR. THE ABS AND PARK BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR QUITE ALONG TIME (LAST COUPLE OF YEARS). HAVE HEARD NUMEROUS OTHERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME THING. JUST CHECK THE INTERNET. AM I IN DANGER OF A CRASH? PLEASE ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM WE ARE ALL HAVING. *TR
FAN CONTROL ONLY WORKS ON FAN SPEED 4. POSITIONS 1 THRU 3 DO NOT WORK. AFTER RESEARCH ON INTERNET FOUND THE INFORMATION ON THE GROUNDING BLOCK FOR THE FAN CONTROL CIRCUIT. CHECKED THE CONNECTOR FOR THIS AND FOUND CORROSION AND SLIGHTLY DARKENED CONNECTOR DUE TO HEAT BUILDUP DUE TO THE CORROSION. ALSO YOU CAN GET THE FAN CONTROL TO WORK ON ALL SETTINGS IF YOU MOVE THE WIRES AROUND ON THE CONNECTOR SO IT MAKES GOOD CONTACT BUT THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. THIS WILL BE COME WORSE AS TIME GOES BY AND IF THE HEAT BUILDUP IS HIGH ENOUGH IT COULD VERY POSSIBLY RESULT IN A FIRE IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE... THERE ARE A HIGH NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL. *TR
HAVING ISSUES WITH: ABS BRAKING FAULT ON 2006 4X4 COLORADO CREW CAB. HAVING VIBRATION IN BRAKE PEDAL AND FEEL AS IF BRAKES ARE NOT BEING APPLIED ENOUGH TO STOP IN AN EMERGENCY. ABS FAULT LIGHT ON DASH GOES OFF AFTER RESTART OF ENGINE AND ALL IS OKAY UNTIL I DON'T KNOW WHEN! HEADLIGHT FIXTURE GETS HEAVY CONDENSATION BUILDUP INSIDE LENS DURING RAINY WEATHER WHICH EVENTUALLY CAUSES LAMP TO FAIL (BURN OUT) AND ALSO REDUCES OPERATION OF HEADLIGHT DUE TO FIXTURE BECOMING FOGGED UP BECAUSE OF CONDENSATION. UNIT EVENTUALLY WILL CLEAR UP AFTER A FEW DAYS OF DRY WEATHER BUT WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME PERMANENTLY STAINED (FOGGED UP) DUE TO WATER DAMAGE WHICH WILL CAUSE ONE HEADLIGHT TO BURN BRIGHTER.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH HE HEARD A SQUEALING NOISE ON THE FRONT BRAKES AND LATER IT WAS A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC IN THE AREA WERE HE WAS TRAVELING. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENTIRE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THE CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,561 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,243.
VEHICLE WILL CRANK AND NOT START, CHECK ENGINE DOES NOT COME ON. WAIT 10 MINUTES AND TRUCK WILL START. HAPPENS UP TO ONCE A WEEK, RANDOM. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP , REPLACED ELEMENT, INSTALLED FUEL SYSTEM POWER PACK,INJECTION SYSTEM CLEAN AND REPLACED AIR FILTER. THAT WAS IN 2010, TRUCK WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT DID NOT COVER THIS WORK, DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. TRUCK IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V310000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS: SWITCH) AND WOULD NOT TAKE THE LIABILITY FOR A SECOND REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS AN AMENDED UNKNOWN RECALL ISSUED IN WHICH THE DEALERS WERE TO INSTALL A NEWLY DESIGNED BRAKE LAMP SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THERE WAS NO SUCH RECALL AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 84,000.
VEHICLE AIR BLOWER FAN FOR HEAT/AIR CONDITIONER PERIODICALLY STOPS WORKING ON SETTINGS 1,2,AND 3. FAN CONTINUES TO WORK ON SETTING 4 APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. THEY HAVE A NEW HARNESS BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT, NO RECALL. THEY WOULD NOT MAKE A NEW HARNESS UNLESS THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE OLD ONE. *JS
I COULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS COMPLAINT SIX MONTHS AGO, BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST A YEAR AND IS NOW BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. MY 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO WILL TURN OVER BUT WILL NOT CRANK. I WAIT EXACTLY 10 MINUTES AND THEN IT WILL START. THIS IS NOW HAPPENING ABOUT TWICE A WEEK. WHEN I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES, THE DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ON THE THIRD TIME I HAD IT AT THE DEALER, I WENT TO PICK UP THE TRUCK AFTER BEING TOLD, ONCE AGAIN, THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG; WHEN I TRIED TO START IT, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. BY THE TIME THEY ROLLED THE COMPUTER TO IT, THE 10 MINUTES HAD PASSED AND THEY, AGAIN, COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND STRESSFUL BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS FAIRLY NEW AND HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF, BUT I CAN'T DEPEND ON IT TO START. I KNOW OTHER COLORADO OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. NO BRAKE LIGHTS ON 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WAS NOTIFIED IN TRAFFIC BY A THIRD PARTY. DETERMINED BULBS AND FUSES WERE ALL FUNCTIONAL. RESEARCHED PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V-310 REGARDING EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS: SWITCH. I LIVE IN MISSOURI WHICH IS NOT SPECIFICALLY NOTED IN THE CAMPAIGN. HOWEVER, CAMPAIGN STATES "COVERAGE FOR VEHICLES REGISTERED IN ALL OTHER STATES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE SAME TIME FRAME." CALLED LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER TO HAVE BRAKE SWITCH REPLACED REGARDING THIS CAMPAIGN. THEY STATED THEY WERE UN-AWARE OF THE CAMPAIGN AND REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM LEFT WITH A VEHICLE THAT HAS BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATION FAILURE AND IT WILL NOT ALERT OTHER MOTORISTS OF THE VEHICLE SLOWING AND STOPPING AND COULD LEAD TO A VEHICLE CRASH. *TR

THE CONTACT THEN REALIZED THAT BOTH THE HIGH BEAMS AND LOW BEAMS DID NOT OPERATE AT THE SAME TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE FRONT BRAKE ASSEMBLY OF THE 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS THE INNER BRAKE PADS CAN FAIL TO FUNCTION. INSPECTION OF THE FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2006 COLORADO SHOWED THE OUTER PADS HAD NORMAL WEAR WHILE THE INNER PADS SHOWED VIRTUALLY NO WEAR (PADS WERE ALMOST FACTORY SPEC THICKNESS). THIS WAS AFTER 80,000 MILES (85% HIGHWAY DRIVING) WHICH INDICATED THE INNER PADS WERE NEVER FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE INNER SIDE OF THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE BADLY CORRODED WHICH REQUIRED THAT THE ROTORS BE REPLACED EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD NO SCORING OR WARPAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS SAFETY INSPECTED IN PENNSYLVANIA 4 TIMES (2006-2009) BY A CHEVROLET DEALER WHO NEVER NOTED THIS PROBLEM. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY COULD MISS THE FACT THAT ONE THE BAKE PADS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE ROTORS WERE GETTING THINNER WHILE THE INSIDE PADS NEVER CHANGED IN THICKNESS. DURING THE FOUR YEARS I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE I NEVER HAD PROPERLY OPERATING FRONT BRAKES. I'VE OWNED 14 VEHICLES, VARIOUS MAKES AND MODELS, THAT HAD FRONT DISC BRAKES AND I'VE NEVER SEEN A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I'VE TALKED TO TWO INDEPENDENT GARAGES IN NEW JERSEY WHO TOLD ME THAT OUT OF 17 COLORADOS THEY COLLECTIVELY HAVE SERVICED 14 HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM (>80%). THAT SEEMS LIKE AN ABNORMALLY HIGH PERCENTAGE OF FAILURES FOR A BRAKING SYSTEM. THE REMEDY PROPOSED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF A CHEVY DEALER IN NEW YORK WAS TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKES INSPECTED EVERY 3 TO 6 MONTHS (AT $40 A POP) FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO LS. INEXPLICABLY AND RANDOMLY, IT SHIFTS ITSELF INTO 4WD HIGH. OFTEN THIS IS WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. CHEVROLET STOPPED SERVICING MY VEHICLE, TELLING ME THERE WAS NO CURE FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL. THE MOST RECENT DATE THIS HAPPENED WAS YESTERDAY WHILE I WAS TURNING INTO MY POST OFFICE. THIS HAS BEEN A CONSTANT PROBLEM SINCE THE RECORDED MILEAGE WAS 2,109. RECORDS WILL SHOW THE TRUCK WAS IN FOR SERVICE BY GM AT LEAST 15 TIMES. INCIDENTALLY, THIS IS A REPLACEMENT TRUCK FOR A 2005 COLORADO THAT HAD PRECISELY THE SAME PROBLEM. BEFORE THE DEALER WAS SHUT DOWN BY GM, THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT GM DETROIT HAD TOLD HIM NOT TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM ANY LONGER AS GM HAD NO CURE FOR IT. *TR
06 CHEVY COLORADO VEHICLE FAILS TO START AFTER SHUTOFF. PASSLOCK FAILURE. HAPPENS REGULARLY. STOPPED TO FIX A TIRE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AFTER CHANGING THE TIRE IT WOULD NOT START. 4AM ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD HAVING TO WAIT 10 MINS TILL IT REST SO I COULD START IT. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. *TR

THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ABS FAILURE ON INFO SCREEN OF TRUCK. 06 CHEVY COLORADO. TAKEN TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD LEFT SIDE HUB AND SENSOR NEED REPLACED. TRUCK HAS AT THIS TIME A LITTLE OVER 10K MILES ON IT. IN LESS THAN ANOTHER 1K MILES IT STARTED AGAIN. DEALER CHECKED OUT THE TRUCK AND SAID BOTH SIDES NOW NEED REPLACED AT A COST OF AROUND $1300. I REMINDED THEM THEY DID REPLACE THE LEFT SIDE. O OK WE'LL COVER THAT SIDE BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE OTHER SIDE. I TOLD THEM I WOULD GET IT FIXED JUST BEFORE MY YR WAS UP ON THE LEFT SIDE REPAIR WARRANTY. I ASK THEM IF THE TRUCK WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THE ANSWER IS YES, WE JUST STATE INSPECTED IT WHILE IT WAS HERE. SO, APRIL 2011 IS THE TIME I HAVE TO GET THE REPAIRS DONE BY. *TR
