While driving on the highway I lost power steering. The check engine light came on and indicated that the power steering had failed and to be careful driving.
Service brake assist light on dash, hard brake, abs pulsation in brake pedal, replaced vac pump sensor. Problem continues
While driving on the highway, my vehicle show battery light and then hi temp due to a loose belt, after stopping on the shoulder of the highway, I inspected the engine compartment and found out that the air condition compressor bracket broke, I tow the vehicle back home and try to repair the broken part but I found out that Chevrolet has discontinue this part, no Chevrolet dealer, no third party and/or any auto part sales the broken part. I called Chevrolet and they told me to call dealer but I had no luck. My 2015 Colorado truck is parked on my driveway for the last 2 months. Chevrolet dealer can't help me since they say that Chevrolet discontinue the part. So, what can I do? how Chevrolet can help me with this query?
owned my 2015 Colorado since new, been very reliable up until now, power steeling shuts off on me a few times, I have talked to the dealer, they told me the recall on this problem was done, I have no paperwork on this, so why is this happening to me.? They told me that since the truck is out of warranty I would have to paid for repairs ($800 to $1600 ) myself ,so if the recall was performed as the dealer said it was why is this happening and why am I responsible for the cost? I am not very Happy about this How do I know that the dealer did what they said they did? I have dealt with a few dealer in my times and caught two of them trying to rip me off,I really don't trust dealers. (sorry).
Had Power Steering Assist disable, traction assist disable and drive with caution warning lights several times while driving. No consistency in driving conditions, road conditions, etc. just random failures. Took truck to dealership to have the problem addressed - the code found was power steering gear failure. Had no choice but to have it repaired before an accident occurred as truck became very difficult to steer when the problem happened and the frequency had increased to nearly every other day.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and the vehicle was difficult to steer. Additionally, the service stabili-trak warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I’m not sure if this is a recall or not. I was driving home and my brake pedal seized up out of no where can’t be pushed and the brake assist light came on. Luckily my truck is manual so I was able to down shift to stop
Power steering randomly failing while driving down the road. Must stop truck shut it off then restart several times before the power steering starts working again. This is very dangerous as it is pretty hard to steer the truck when the power steering fails. This has happened several times over the past few months but is now starting to happen more frequently.
Power steering keeps going out while driving down the road. Wife wasn’t able to steer it not strong enough ran off the road blew out a tire. Very dangerous life-threatening please have someone contact me. THANKS
When i startup my truck and after a few minutes the stabilitrak light turns on and my steering locks up and a message stating loss of power steering comes out and it happens every single time i turn it on. A recall was perform a couple years back on loss of steering assist recall number was 15595A i’m not fully satisfied that it was done correctly and supposedly an aligment was also supposed to be performed i contacted the agency and they’ve said they can do anything about it since “it has already been taken care of” i’m wondering if you guys can do anything about it since it was a recall that was sent out from your end.
I’m writing on behalf this recall The recall (#N202325410) covers 60,600 trucks in the US and 5,000 in Canada, and starts on May 10, 2021. Mi trucks is having the same issue. Vin [XXX]. Can I be include in the recall please. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
When I was driving on the freeway the steering wheel suddenly locked up and got extremely hard. I was not able to control the vehicle which led me to drive off the road and almost hit another vehicle. This steering wheel lock up has occurred several time even while the vehicle is parked. This dis function is extremely dangerous and the Chevy dealer does not want to help me fix this dangerous issue because my VIN number does not show any recalls. However this make and model has been known to have the recall of the steering wheel disfunction. The message displayed is power steering wheel disabled.
The vehicle power steering went out while driving on the highway. The power steering light remains on on the dash. It does not show the recall for my 2015 Colorado, but other websites show that this was a recall for 2015 Colorados recently. Why is my truck not covered when the issue happened to my truck?
Just purchased vehicle in early March of this year(2022).Vehicle has low mileage for a 2015.But first problem is an air or evap problem that seems to be a large problem with other owners as well.Unable to fill vehicle with fuel pump nosil without it splashing out of vehicle.Came out on my shoe the first time!!You have to let it trickle into tank to get gas in it.Had it at dealer 2 weeks after i bought it to have a active un-related recall done,so I had them look into the filling problem. They replaced a part that said was bad(evap solinoid)that didnt fix fueling problem, and costly to remove tank to search for problem, going to fix myself.Find it hard to believe that this isn't a known problem.Second is a technical service bulletin from 2016,NHTA #101137960,Manufacturer #16-NA-195.This should be a recall and checked to see if repair has been made.I assume this won't be covered on my vehicle so I will have to fix fuell leak, truck only has 74,000 miles. This fuel leaking could be potentially dangerous,it's happening while your filling as well, would only know it unless you looked way under vehicle.Heavy fumes is bad as well. With this "technical bulletin"things you haul could drip and leak onto fuel tank so beds should be sealed to keep this from happening regardless!!
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist would intermittently fail as the “Steering Assist Reduced; Drive with Care” warning message would appear on the instrument panel. The contact had spoken to both the dealer and the manufacturer and was informed that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V213000 (Steering) which she linked to the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 38 mph and making a right turn into traffic the warning messages "brake assist, ABS, Stabilitrak, steering lost" had suddenly displayed and when pressing the brake pedal the vehicle did not stop and crashed into the rear of a second vehicle which crashed into the rear of a third vehicle. During the crash, the airbags did not deploy and the contact sustained an injured left shoulder which did not require medical treatment. The occupant of the second vehicle was treated for an injury but no information was available. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The failure mileage was 97,153. Dealership did their own diagnostics and found the brake booster and vacuum to be faulty.
On Jan.4, 2022, warning came on dashboard to service power steering and power steering quit while towing a trailer on the freeway. Brought it in to dealer. They diagnosed it as bad battery and replaced the battery. On Feb.20 and 21st same issue happened and I lost power steering. New diagnoses was a problem with the steering gear. I spent over $2,700 to remedy this problem. I'm upset that 2015 Chevy Colorados were recalled for steering gear issues. Mine wasn't included in this recall and perhaps should have been. Pulling a trailer and losing power steering could have been catastrophic, putting me at risk as well as other traffic.
My 2015 Chevrolet Colorado with a v6 engine has corroded oil cooler lines. I have scheduled a repair appointment with my local chevrolet dealer. I believe this is a common problem with this vehicle. There are many incidents of similar problems with these corroded oil cooler lines. Also, my mechanic has seen this problem on many other Colorado trucks with v6 engines.
Transmission slippage, shudder at low rates and high rates of speed.
After having the latest recall repair done on my truck which involved working within the steering column, the key gets VERY HOT and STICKS/HANGS. This was not an issue until the recall "fix". I had the key tumbler replaced, I was told this may fix the problem, but it didn't.
While driving through my neighborhood, my power steering stopped working and caused me to crash into a boulder.
Onstar has a Knowingly ongoing problem with there installed service in the truck. The features such as remote start, lock ,unlock ,lights, phone, All there features. Onstar corporate knows about this and for over a year I am getting absolutely nowhere with them to fix the problem.
While inspecting underneath vehicle trying to locate a squeak on the driver side I found that the steering system has a leaked down my tie rod boot. I did some research on why it would randomly leak and found that it previously had a recall on my vehicle.
While driving experienced loss of powering steering....was able to continue driving for approximately 15 miles but it was a struggle. Reached destination, parked vehicle then returned in about 10 minutes got in vehicle and everything regarding power steering was back to normal and all warning indicators were off. Prior to that warning indicators (various) were flashing indicating power steering issue. My dealership checked for recalls by VIN. Stated vehicle didn't fall under any recalls. There are 2 recalls for this vehicle for same issue ( 2016 & 2021). My experience is exactly what is described in those recalls.
The power steering failed. There was no warning. This is the same vehicle year/make/model (2015 Chevy Colorado) that is impacted by a recall (16V054000) but apparently my specific truck was not part of the 2015 Colorado recall (according to GM)?
Navigation screen, radio are defective. Does not operate in normal mode.
Service airbag light appeared on dashboard. Brought it in for service and was told I need a nee passenger presence sensor module.
2015 CHEVROLET COLORADO. CONSUMER WRITES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR VEHICLE REPAIRS MADE RELATED TO A SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED TWICE AND THE GPS NAVIGATION FAILED ONCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED SAFETY RECALL N202325410.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle would not shift correctly. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 51,400.
Battery Saver Active came on and the Truck lost all Steering and transmission would not engage. Loss of power steering.
There were no previous issues of any kind until I tried to leave work one day. Two warning lights came on when I started the vehicle: "Service Power Steering, and Service StabiliTrak, drive with care". I tried backing out and could NOT turn the wheel. I had it towed to a mechanic the following day and found out that other 2015 Colorados have a recall on this exact part. Power steering could have gone out at any time while I was driving and the weight of the vehicle could have caused a serious accident, depending on when and where it happened, seeing as how I could not budge the steering wheel. I contacted Chevrolet and was told my vehicle "wasn't covered" under the recall. They had no desire to assist me in any way. The mechanic I took the truck to is having trouble ordering the part because it is on nationwide backorder. I wonder why? If they can even fix it, it will cost me close to two thousand dollars at this point, for a safety issue that should be covered by Chevrolet. Please help get this recall extended to every 2015 Colorado before someone dies.
While driving several weeks ago a warning light came on the dash that stated Service Power Steering, Drive with Care. I immediately noticed I had zero power steering assist, this happened while driving down the freeway at a high rate of speed. I was able to pull off the road and shut off the vehicle, when re-starting the vehicle, the warning light was gone. After researching this incident I noticed this has been a reoccurring problem with the 2015 Colorado. I called to inform the dealership of the incident but they said my VIN did not qualify for the recall, even though I was experiencing the exact same problems!?! This is a serious safety hazard and I am extremely disappointed GM is not taking all 2015 models into account. It's obvious by doing a little research that other electrical connections inside their steering gear assemblies are failing as well. Heaven forbid this happens when someone is towing a heavy load. Very dangerous, not only for the driver, but others as well.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster warning lights were dim. The contact stated while driving 75 mph there was a chiming sound heard. The wheels locked up and the vehicle pulled to the left. The power steering service message was displayed. The vehicle veered to the right and was uncontrollable. The contact was able to coast off the freeway. The contact contacted On-Star who referred her to the manufacturer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated the failure was like NHTSA Campaign number: 16V054000 (Steering). The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The manufacturer's legal team was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
Just started driving my vehicle and went to turn and the steering went out, warnings “Service Power Steering. Drive with care.” “Service StabiliTrac” and “Service Batter Charging System” came on and vehicle stopped. Attempts to turn it back on and “jump” the battery were futile. Fortunately it was a Sunday with limited traffic. Had it been a busy day I could easily have been hit as my vehicle died in the middle of the road. My son, young male and was able to muscle the steering wheel to the edge of the road. Had it been an elderly driver, the situation could have been much different. Somehow, my VIN is not included in this well known issue with 2015 Chevy Colorados. Vehicle was towed to a dealership in Fayetteville, NC and, hopefully, will be looked at tomorrow. Vehicle is available for inspection. This is the first time this has happened. The truck drove fine prior to the problem. I have photos of the warning messages.
While driving on the highway, the power steering stopped working. When we stopped, turned off the truck and turned it back on it worked again for about 5 more miles before again it stopped working. So far our vin is not included in the recall, but it sounds like the same experience other Chevy Colorado drivers have described.
Power steering fails randomly at times. I’ve read there was a recall for this issue but my vehicle wasn’t covered for some reason ?
Power Steering has gone out on 4 separate occasions on the busy streets of Phoenix, AZ. This is a safety issue as once that happens, it is difficult to make a safe turn. Took the car in and noticed that there is a recall on the power steering for the 2015 Chevy Colorado, but apparently this car is not included. This does not seem to make sense as this is the same problem others are having and 60K+ trucks have been recalled for the same problem. Please research this.

The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
While driving on an interstate, with a fair amount of traffic, the power steering assist failed with a message stating so. This incident happened while on a corner in a rain storm next to a tractor trailer. This put my safety at risk. Not only did that system fail, but so did the traction control system, along with non functioning speedometer, tachometer, and temperature gauge. This system is available for inspection, however it tends to clear itself and happen only when your driving the vehicle. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer as I will not drive it. I am in the process of contacting a dealer about the problem. There where no advanced warnings that the system reported prior to the system failing, after it failed then a message was displayed.

The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under any recall. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.
TO DATE, POWER STEERING CONTROL HAS FAILED ON 3 SEPERATE OCCASIONS. MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS IS AT RISK WHEN THIS OCCURS. THE FIRST INCIDENT OF POWER STEERING LOSS WAS IN CONJESTED LOS ANGELES FREEWAY SPEEDS. THE SECOND AND THIRD INCIDENTS OCCURRED AT LOWER SPEEDS AND IN CONJESTED CITY DRIVING WHICH MADE THE STEERING EVEN MORE DIFFICULT AND UNSAFE. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE OFTEN AND POWER STEERING LOSS WILL PUT HER SAFETY AND THAT OF OTHERS AT RISK BECAUSE OF THE DIFFICULTY OF CONTROLLING THE STEERING WHEEL. i AM AWARE OF THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER BECAUSE OF THE UNAVAILBILITY OF THE PART(S) NEEDED FOR A TIMELY REPAIR, MY VEHICLE WILL BE TOO RISKY TO OPERATE DAILY. THE DATES FOR THE INCIDENTS ARE JUNE 11TH, JUNE 20TH, AND JUNE 25TH. SPEED FOR THE 1ST INCIDENT WAS 70 MPH, THE 2ND AND 3RD INCIDENTS SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH.

While driving and in a slight turn at 25mph, the power steering immediately stopped working. I was immediately thrown off the road into a dirt embankment and had to force the steering wheel to get back onto the road. I was able to drive the truck to a nearby parking lot. I turned it off. 2 hours later, I turned it back on and the power steering worked. I didn’t want to risk driving it 35 miles back home and risking an accident from another loss of power steering. I towed the truck to the nearest Chevrolet dealership and had to inspected. The truck is at 61,128 miles. The extended warranty for 100,000 miles or 5 years does not apparently cover the power steering and the power steering needs to be completely replaced.
There is a recall on my vehicle and there is no known fix for it, I am under myself in payments and it is becoming a safety hazard for my family and I.

POWER STEERING FAILURE. TRUCK WAS MOVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20MPH WHILE TURNING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. COULD NOT MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. DEALERSHIP SAYS 2 COMPONENTS ARE BAD: THE 'STEERING ANGLE SENSOR'. AND THE 'STEERING GEAR TORQUE SENSOR.' THE TORQUE SENSOR IS SUBJECT TO NHTSA RECALL #21V213, BUT THE 'ANGLE SENSOR' IS APPARENTLY NOT SUBJECT TO ANY RECALL YET. TRUCK IS NOT DRIVEABLE WITHOUT BOTH BEING FIXED.
