TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. DEALER REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH. STILL HAVE SAME ISSUE.
MY VEHICLE IS PRODUCING A STRONG FUEL ODOR WHEN PARKED IN MY GARAGE. SO MUCH SO, THAT THE FUEL ODOR PERMEATES THE ENTIRE HOUSE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM SUFFERED BY MANY C6 OWNERS AND IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON MANY CORVETTE FORUMS AND THERE IS EVEN A YOUTUBE VIDEO (HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/P9E3MD122MG) REVEALING THE PROBLEM. A CRACK DEVELOPS IN THE PRESSURE SIDE OF THE FUEL PUMP. GM HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL OTHER 2007 MODEL VEHICLES AND PROMPTLY ORDERED A RECALL BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM OF FIRE OR EXPLOSION IF EXPOSED TO AN IGNITION SOURCE......................... WHAT MAKES THIS THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM ANY DIFFERENT FROM THOSE RECALLED VEHICLES. WILL IT TAKE A DEATH, SERIOUS INJURY OR CATASTROPHIC LOSS FOR THESE PROBLEMS TO BE ADDRESSED. I HOPE NOT. STRONG FUEL SMELL BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR WHEN THE GAS TANK IS OVER HALF FULL. IT APPEARS TO COME FROM THE LEFT SIDE AT THE FUEL TANK AREA. THERE IS NO VISIBLE LEAK UNDER THE CAR. THE CAR HAS 17980 MILES PRESENTLY.
VALVE TRAIN ROCKER ARMS BROKEN LEAVING NEEDLE BEARINGS IN THE OIL, AND ALL VALVE GUIDES WERE OUT OF TOLERANCE. *TR
AIR BAG DISENGAGED LIGHT ON DASH COMES ON WHEN HITTING A BUMP. NOT SURE WHETHER AIRBAGS ARE REALLY NOT WORKING OR NOT. CODE SHOWS SEAT BELT TENSION AT FAULT.
WHENEVER THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED MORE THAN HALF FULL, A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IS PRESENT IN THE CAR. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE LEAKS, BUT THE SMELL IS SO BAD THAT THE CAR CANNOT BE PARKED IN MY GARAGE, OR DRIVEN WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP IN THIS CONDITION. THIS DOES NOT PRODUCE ANY CHECK ENGINE OR SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS THE SMELL IS PRESENT WHETHER STATIONARY OR MOVING WITH MORE THAN A HALF TANK OF FUEL.. I BELIEVE THAT THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH EITHER THE LINE RUNNING TO THE FUEL PUMP ON TOP OF THE TANK, OR THE CROSSOVER PIPE BETWEEN THE TWO TANKS.
AIRBAG LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY. NEVER TURNS OFF. SO AIRBAG IS NOT WORKING. THIS IS A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION THAT IS GMS RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE RESEARCHED IT AND IT IS A VERY WIDELY KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR. HOW MANY DEATHS IS TOO MANY?
THIS MODEL CORVETTE CAN SUDDENLY DROP AN ENGINE VALVE (EXHAUST OR INTAKE) AND UNEXPECTEDLY DEVELOP A HOLE IN THE BLOCK ACCOMPANIED WITH OIL SPILLED ON THE ROADWAY, SMOKE BILLOWING WITH RISK FOR VEHICLES BEHIND AND IN FRONT, AND THE RISK FOR TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING, BRAKING AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE OUTCOME IF THIS HAPPENED ON A FREEWAY WITH CARS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED IS POTENTIALLY FATAL. ALL OF THIS IS DUE TO MACHINING ERRORS AND SUPPLIER DEFECTS FOR THE ASSOCIATED PARTS (VALVES, GUIDES, ETC.) ON ALL 2006-2013 CORVETTE C6 Z06'S MADE BY GM. *TR
WIGGLE TEST ON ALL VALVES SHOWED ALL EXHAUST VALVES WITH EXCESSIVE GUID WHERE....SAFETY ISSUE....!!! THIS CAN AND HAS LED TO CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS....... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH NITROUS SEC FOOSE 8 1/2 BY 19 AND REAR 10 1/2 BY 19(NA) TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES FAILED AND THE SIDEWALLS SPLIT BEFORE THE CONTACT COULD PLACE 100 MILES ON THE TIRES. THE TIRES HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100. THE VIN AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
THE GAS TANK LEAKS FUEL AND DRIPS DOWN THE BACK SIDE OF THE TANK. I CAN SMELL GAS FUMES VERY BADLY WHEN I PARK MY CAR IN CONFINED SPACE
AFTER MONTHS OF READING ABOUT THE EXHAUST VALVE ISSUE WITH CORVETTE Z06S I TOOK MY CAR AND HAD THE HEADS CHECKED. THE SHOP FOUND THE VALVE GUIDE CLEARANCE TO BE OUTSIDE THE SPECIFIED ACCEPTABLE RANGE. THE DEFECT PUTS UNDUE STRESS ON THE SODIUM FILLED VALVES AND IF THE VALVE FAILS IT CAN CAUSE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION IF THIS OCCURS AT SPEED ON THE ROADWAY AS THE DRIVER WILL LOSE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE POTENTIALLY CAUSING A DEADLY ACCIDENT. I PAID SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THIS ISSUE DESPITE GM ACKNOWLEDGING THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES.
MY CORVETTE HAS EXTREMELY STRONG GAS SMELL COMING OUT OF IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S NOT MOVING. THE SMELL IS EXTREMELY BAD, WHICH MAKES ME WORRY ABOUT POSSIBLE COMBUSTION.
STRONG VAPORS OF RAW FUEL FROM VEHICLE WHEN OVER 1/2 A TANK OF GAS. DEALER COULD NOT LOCATE. GAS LEAK WAS ON TOP OF TANK WHICH WAS NOT VISIBLE FROM UNDERNEATH WITHOUT REMOVAL OF REAR WHEEL WELL. THIS IS DOCUMENTED ON CORVETTE FORUM AS MANY OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND CAUSED BY CRACKING OF PLASTIC FITTING AT TOP OF THE TANK- APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN DEFECT. *TR
ABNORMAL VALVE GUIDE WEAR IN CYLINDER HEADS CONSIDERING AGE AND MILEAGE OF VEHICLE. POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE FROM DROPPED VALVE IF NOT ADDRESSED. CHEVROLET SHOULD FIX WHETHER VEHICLE STILL IN WARRANTY OR NOT AS IS BELIEVED TO BE POOR QUALITY CONTROL RESULTING IN MACHINING ERRORS. *TR
CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK AFTER STARTING. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SOLENOID. *TR
UPON PARKING THE VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE I NOTICED A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. I SEARCH ALL AROUND THE CAR AND COULD NOT FIND A LEAK. THIS VERY POWERFUL FUEL/GASOLINE SMELL WOULD PERMEATE MY ENTIRE HOUSE CAUSING A BIT OF NAUSEA AT TIMES. I STARTED TO PARK THE CAR OUTSIDE BECAUSE I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD AS WELL AS THE NOXIOUS FUMES. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY FOUND THAT THE MAIN FUEL PUMP (LOCATED IN THE LEFT SIDE FUEL TANK) HAD BEEN LEAKING FROM THE HIGH PRESSURE SIDE OF THE PUMP. THE PLASTIC THAT FUEL PUMP MODULE IS COMPOSED OF STARTED TO DETERIORATE ON IT'S OWN, AND BEGAN TO SPRAY FUEL ONTO THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THERE IS A LARGE SKID/SUPPORT PLATE THAT HOLDS UP THE FUEL TANK AND THIS PLATE WAS RETAINING A MAJORITY OF THE FUEL. THIS TANK IS ALSO VERY CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST AND I'M JUST FORTUNATE THAT THE FUEL DID NOT SPRAY INTO THAT DIRECTION. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH ALL 2005-2013 CORVETTES. SO MANY ISSUES IN FACT THAT AC DELCO (THE VENDOR THAT SUPPLIES THE FUEL PUMP MODULES TO GM) HAS ISSUED 3 UPDATES TO THIS PARTICULAR PART. HERE IS MY OEM PART NUMBER AS WELL AS THE SUBSEQUENT UPDATE PART NUMBERS. MY OE PUMP THAT LEAKED: 15785206 (IS NO LONGER A GOOD AC DELCO #) 1ST UPDATE: 19133441 2ND UPDATE: 19302042 3RD UPDATE: 19149687. *TR
WHEN I PURCHASED THE 2007 CORVETTE Z06, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO HAVE THE HEADS CHECKED FOR EXCESSIVE VALVE GUIDE WEAR. I HAD THE HEADS PULLED AND THE VALVES EXAMINED BY A LOCAL EXPERT. HE INDICATED THAT THE VALVE GUIDES WERE OUT OF SPECIFICATION AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I REPLACED THESE AT MY OWN EXPENSE OF OVER $2000.00. HAD THE ENGINE BLOWN UP AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECTIVE CONDITION, THE BREAKS AND POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE GM TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS MODEL CORVETTE. *TR
11/15/14 WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. ABOUT 30 MIN. INTO MY DRIVE NOTICED THAT MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. PULLED OVER TO TRY SWITCHING LIGHTS ON AND OFF. STILL WOULD NOT COME BACK ON. HIGH BEAMS AND FOG LIGHTS WORKED. HAD TO DRIVE 15 MIN. WITH FOG LIGHTS AND HIGH BEAMS ON. 12/7/14 DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT NIGHT,15 MIN. DRIVE TO GET HOME. 10 MIN. IN LOW BEAMS GO OUT. SO I DROVE HOME WITH FOG LIGHTS AND HIGH BEAMS ON AGAIN. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR STARTED TO SWERVE LEFT THEN RIGHT, RESULTING A TOTAL WIPEOUT. I WAS DRIVING AT SAFE SPEED AND WITH CONTROL. THE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING' WARNING CAME UP AFTER I TOOK CONTROL OF THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHTWAY.
THERES A STRONG GAS SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF CAR AFTER EVERY GAS FILL UP. *JS
I AM SMELLING GAS FUMES COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE AFTER DRIVING. I CAN HEAR FUEL DRIPPING ON THE EXHAUST WHEN I PARK THE CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY WHICH IS ON AN SLIGHT INCLINE. IF IT IS NOT DRIPPING ON THE EXHAUST IT'S DRIPPING ON SOMETHING HOT BECAUSE IT MAKES A SIZZLING SOUND. PLEASE HELP! SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN MY OPINION. LOTS OF CORVETTE OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR TO AMERICAN HERITAGE PERFORMANCE IN CALIFORNIA AND HAD THE HEADS CHECKED AND THEY WERE ALL OUT OF SPECK, AT 16000 MILES, AND THIS CAR WAS ONLY STREET DRIVEN, AND HAD TO HAVE ALL THIS WORK DONE ON A LOW MILEAGE CAR WAS VERY UPSETTING, AND IN THE END FINDING OUT THAT MANY CARS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. HAVING TO GET ALL THIS WORK DONE ON A VIRTUALLY NEW CAR IS RIDICULOUS.. *TR

YELLOW CONNECTOR UNDER DRIVERS SEAT LOST CONTINUITY. AIRBAGS WERE DISABLED. *TR
WHEN MAKING A SLOW LEFT TURN THE FRONT BRAKES ON THE CAR LOCKED UP. "SERVICE STABILITY SYSTEM" MESSAGE CAN ON. CAR WOULDN'T GO OVER 5-6 MPH UNTIL SYSTEM WAS TURNED OFF. *TR
THE CAR SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE AFTER I FILL IT UP PAST 1/2 A TANK. ONCE IT GETS BELOW 1/2 WAY, IT NO LONGER SMELLS
WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AT APROX. 45MPH, MY CAR EXHAUST VALVE DROPPED IN THE MOTOR CAUSING IMMEDIATE ENGINE FAILURE ALSO CREATING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES TO STOP WORKING IMMEDIATELY. THIS SAME EXHAUST VALVE ISSUES OCCURRED WITH MANY OTHER GM CORVETTES WITH THE 7.0LITER Z06 MOTOR.
MY CAR IS SUBJECT TO A RECALL FOR THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS, AND CHEVY (THE MANUFACTURER) WILL NOT FIX IT. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN FIX IT BY REPLACING THE FUSE BOX, BUT CHEVY WILL NOT AUTHORIZE IT. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR FOR OVER A MONTH. THE DEALER GAVE ME LOANER CAR, AND I DO APPRECIATE THAT. HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO GET MY CAR BACK. I AM GETTING ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE WITH CHEVY, THE MANUFACTURER. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WITH RESPECT TO THE DEALER. *TR
LOW BEAMS SUDDENLY GO OUT WHILE DRIVING AND WON'T COME BACK ON.ALL FUSES, RELAYS, AND SWITCHES HAVE BEEN TESTED AND FOUND TO BE GOOD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AT NIGHT, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY FAILED. THE DRIVER HAD TO USE THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS IN ORDER TO VIEW THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V2510000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , EXTERIOR LIGHTING) BUT A NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF INTERMITTENTLY AS YOU DRIVE. SPEED REALLY HAS NO EFFECT ON WHEN. HAS COME ON/OFF AS LOW AS 20MPH OR AS HIGH AS 80MPH. *TR
2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE BEGAN SMELLING OF FUEL UPON FILL-UP ON 8/15/2014. CHEVROLET DEALER IN CARY, NC CLAIMED TO HAVE DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AND CHARGED FOR DIAGNOSTIC FEE, SAID END RESULT WAS FAULTY FUEL CAP SO IT WAS REPLACED. TOTAL FOR THIS WAS $42.08. UPON NEXT FILL-UP, THE SMELL PERSISTED WITHOUT ANY CHANGE FROM BEFORE DIAGNOSIS AT CHEVROLET DEALER. APPROXIMATELY 7 WEEKS LATER, FUEL SMELL HAD WORSENED SLIGHTLY AND ALSO THE ENGINE WAS MAKING A "CHATTERING" SOUND. SINCE CHEVROLET DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE FUEL SMELL ISSUE CORRECTLY, I CHOSE A HIGHLY REPUTABLE INDEPENDENT SHOP AND THEY IMMEDIATELY FOUND THE PROBLEMS. THE "CHATTERING" SOUND WAS A FAULTY HARMONIC BALANCER, A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CHEVROLET CORVETTE ENGINES AND COST ~$1,100 TO REPAIR USING CHEVROLET PARTS. THE FUEL SMELL WAS DUE TO A CRACKED DRIVER SIDE FUEL TANK (CORVETTES USE TWO FUEL TANKS) WHICH WAS EASILY FOUND BY THIS INDEPENDENT SHOP ONCE THE CAR WAS LIFTED. THE FACTORY-INSTALLED DRIVER SIDE FUEL TANK HAD SHRUNK AND CRACKED, TRAPPING THE FUEL PUMP INSIDE, THUS FORCING THE TANK AND PUMP TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH ALL RELATED SEALS AND PARTS. TOTAL TO REPAIR THESE FUEL RELATED ISSUES WAS ~2,700, FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $3,803.27. UPON PERFORMING FURTHER RESEARCH, MANY CORVETTE OWNERS HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM--DRIVER SIDE FUEL TANK CRACKS OVER TIME AND EVERY ONLINE REFERENCE FOUND INDICATES THAT GM COVERS THE ISSUE. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND WAS TOLD THAT I ONLY HAD A 2-YEAR/24-MONTH WARRANTY ON THESE ISSUES. I FIND THAT TO BE RIDICULOUS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE SAME ISSUE IS OCCURRING ON CARS OF THIS TYPE ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IT SEEMS AS IF CHEVROLET AND CHEVROLET DEALERS PICK AND CHOOSE WHO THEY COVER THESE ITEMS FOR, WHICH IS EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS BECAUSE I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD BE NECESSARY THAT I HAVE TO KEEP FIGHTING JUST TO BE TAKEN CARE OF THE WAY I SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS (LEFT/RIGHT) HAVE INTERMITTENT OUTAGES AFTER THE CAR WARMS UP. THE LOW BEAMS FAIL WITHOUT WARNING LEAVING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE VEHICLE AND OPERATE THE VEHICLE DURING EVENING, DUSK AND NIGHT DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DID NOT ALERT WHEN THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOW OR WHEN A TIRE WAS FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY CORVETTE AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. WHEN COMING OUT OF A CURVE ACCELERATED AND THE CAR PULLED TO THE RIGHT. WHEN APPLIED BRAKES PRESSURE IT HAD NO AFFECT ON STEERING AND STOPPING THE CAR. THE CAR CONTINUED TO GO TO THE RIGHT IN A CIRCLE UNTIL VEHICLE HIT THE GUARD RAIL. IT APPEARED THAT IT WAS IN A LIMP MODE THE CAR HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN THROUGH ACCELERATION THE TRANSMISSION AND BRAKE CONTROLS WHERE IN SYNC WITH EACH OTHER AND TOOK OVER CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND WOULDN'T STOP THE CAR. I AM FORTUNATE THAT DIDN'T OCCUR ON THE HIGHWAY WITH OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME, WHICH COULD HAVE CREATED A CATASTROPHIC SITUATION. *TR
2007 CORVETTE Z06 WITH LS7 ENGINE E. VALVE TRAIN BEGAN MAKING USUAL NOISES. FACTORY VALVE GUIDES FOUND TO BE OUT OF SPECIFICATIONS. HEADS REMOVED AND FACTORY VALVE GUIDES AND EXHAUST VALVES REMOVED AND REPLACED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST VALVE AND NUMBER ONE CYLINDER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V251000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING). HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN I HAD THE MOTOR CHECKED PROACTIVELY THE EXHAUST VALVE GUIDES WERE OUTSIDE OF GM SPECIFICATIONS. THIS DEFECT CAN CAUSE THE HEAD OF A VALVE TO SNAP OFF AND DESTROY THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WILL STOP WORKING IMMEDIATELY, CAUSING THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES SYSTEMS TO FAIL. THE VALVE FAILURE CAN CAUSE AN OIL SPILL ONTO THE ROAD IF THE ENGINE IS COMPROMISED. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS DOCUMENTED CASES OF ENGINE FAILURE AS A RESULT OF A DROPPED VALVE INTO A CYLINDER. THIS CAN CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT OR FIRE. GM IS VERY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS HUGE SAFETY RISK TO DRIVERS, PASSENGERS, AND NEARBY VEHICLES IF THE ENGINE FAILS GOING DOWN THE ROAD. I WAS FORCED TO SPEND IN EXCESS OF $3K TO INSURE I DID NOT HARM ANYONE OR MYSELF. BEST REGARDS *TR
AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MILES I STOPPED THE CAR TO PARK. AFTER STOPPING, THE SHIFTING CONTROL LEVER WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR PARK. THE SHIFTER SAFETY SYSTEM IN THE LEVER FAILED. *TR
FOLLOWING A HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVER EDUCATION EVENT, MY 2007 CORVETTE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED (APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH) ON A 2-LANE COUNTY ROAD, WITH THE FIRE ORIGINATING IN THE AREA SURROUNDING THE PASSENGER REAR (RIGHT REAR) WHEEL WELL. AS SOON AS I WAS AWARE OF THE FIRE, I STOPPED THE CAR, SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, AND OBSERVED THE FIRE ON THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION AND GEARBOX FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. I OBTAINED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE BY DEPLOYING THE CONTENTS BENEATH THE CAR ON THE AREA OF VISIBLE FLAME. I WAS UNABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE UNDER THE FIRST ATTEMPT AND I BEGAN TO REMOVE THE REAR CARPETING FROM THE VEHICLE IN THE REAR HATCH AND TRUNK AREA AS THE CARPET HAD BEGAN TO SMOLDER. A SECOND FIRE EXTINGUISHER WAS BROUGHT TO THE SCENE AND THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT. THE FIRE HAD CONSUMED A 2" X 6" SECTION OF THE HATCH (TRUNK) FLOOR, WHICH HAD MELTED ONTO THE REAR EXHAUST PIPE. AFTER THE CAR WAS TOWED HOME AND PUT UP ON JACK STANDS, IT APPEARS THAT THE CHARCOAL CANISTER AND SECTIONS OF THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM WERE CONSUMED IN THE FIRE. IT IS INCONCLUSIVE IN MY OBSERVATION IF THESE COMPONENTS WERE CAUSAL TO THE FIRE OR MERELY CONSUMED IN THE FLAMES. MUCH OF THE REAR WIRING SURROUNDING THE DIFFERENTIAL AND TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN DESTROYED BY THE FIRE. THERE ARE ALSO VISIBLE REMNANTS OF LIQUID "DRIPS" ON THE RIGHT REAR EXHAUST PIPE TRAVELLING OVER THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BUT NO CONCLUSIVE SOURCE OF THE LIQUID WAS FOUND. I WOULD LIKE TO ENSURE THAT THIS FAILURE WAS NOT SYSTEMIC TO THE VEHICLE DESIGN OR MANUFACTURER SO THAT OTHER OWNERS MAY BE PROTECTED FROM SIMILAR FAILURES. *TR

MY CYLINDER HEAD INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES WERE SEVERELY OUT OF GM'S .0037" MAXIMUM WIGGLE TOLERANCE. THE VALVES WERE TESTED BY YUMA AUTO AND TRANS AS WELL AS AMERICAN HERITAGE PERFORMANCE (HARBOR CITY, CA). NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE MAY HAVE CAUSED A DROPPED CYLINDER VALVE AND BLOWN ENGINE.

I HAVE A 2007 CORVETTE AND THE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM" LIGHT COMES ON. I WENT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER AND HE WAS OF LITTLE HELP. THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION NUMBER IS EA09-002. IS THERE NOW OR WILL THERE BE IN THE FUTURE A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND EVEN A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE MATTER. *TR
THE CAR HAS DEVELOPED A TERRIBLE GASOLINE ODOR. THE CAUSE IS THE FAULTY PLASTIC FITTING AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. THERE IS A VISIBLE FUEL LEAK RUNNING DOWN THE TANK. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE AND FILLS WITH FUMES. I CANNOT PARK THE CAR INSIDE AND FEAR THAT THE CAR IS DANGEROUS. *TR
