WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM, THE UNDERHOOD BUSSED ELECTRICAL CENTER (UBEC) HOUSING WILL EXPAND, CAUSING THE HEADLAMP LOW-BEAM RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT ROUTED WIRE TO BEND SLIGHTLY. AFTER THE WIRE IS REPEATEDLY BENT, IT HAS FRACTURED AND SEPARATED. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE LOW-BAEM HEADLAMPS WILL NOT ILLUMINATE. AS THE UBEC HOUSING COOLS AND CONTRACTS, THE LOW-BEAM HEADLAMP FUNCTION MAY RETURN. THIS CONDITION IS NOT AFFECTING THE HIGH-BEAM HEADLAMPS, MARKER LAMPS, TURN SIGNALS, DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS OR FOG LAMPS. LOSS OF LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS WHEN THEY ARE REQUIRED COULD REDUCE THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH .....WHICH WOULD BE FATAL. APPEARS THAT OTHER YEAR CORVETTES HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE (SEE DEC 2014 BULLETIN 13146 "RECALL BULLETIN" - LOW-BEAM HEADLAMPS INOPERATIVE." GM ADMITS TO A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" WHICH IS NOT A "RECALL." AND THAT THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SWEET! HOW CONVENIENT FOR GM.
FUEL LEAK FROM CRACK IN FUEL PUMP. STRONG GASOLINE ODOR CAN BE DETECTED FROM DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM WITH C5 AND C6 CORVETTE AND CAN CAUSE FIRE AS FUEL LEAKS IS COLLECTED IN PAN NEXT TO HOT EXHAUST PIPE.
I HAVE A BAD RATTLE NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOME BEARING, OR MARBLES ARE LOOSE. IT HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS IN DRIVE AND AT A STOP LIGHT OR PARKED. MY PERSONAL MECHANIC PINPOINTED THE ISSUE TO THE TORQUE TUBE/ FLEX PLATE BEARINGS.
WHILE DRIVING OVER 30 MPH THE CAR WILL BRAKE AND THE DIGITAL INFORMATION CENTER WILL SHOW "ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM" AND VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEABLE AND IS A SAFETY RISK
CLUTCH PEDAL DOES NOT RETURN. PEDAL IS AT APPROX. 1/2 HEIGHT UP FROM FLOOR SURFACE THAN WHAT IT SHOULD BE ... PEDAL THROW IS MINIMAL.. HOWEVER, CLUTCH SYSTEM WORKS CORRECTLY. I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD 40 MPH WHEN I REALIZED THE PEDAL WAS NOT IN ITS NORMAL POSITION
HELLO THERE, MY CAR IS A CHEVROLET CORVETTE 2011 GRAND SPORT. EVERY TIME I FILL GAS UP, THERE IS A STRONG SMELL IN THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT EVENTUALLY BECOMES UNBEARABLE. I HAVE TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO LOCATE A LEAK AND EVEN INSTALLED A NEW GAS CAP AS PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTS. I HAVE SEARCHED THE FORUMS AND SPOKE WITH DIFFERENT MECHANICS ABOUT MY SITUATION AND THEY MENTIONED A SAFETY RECALL ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE ON SAME MODEL YEARS AND RECENTLY A FRIEND OF MINE CAME UPON THE SAME ISSUE AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP UNDER THAT RECALL. I TOOK MINE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP SERVICE AND THEY DENIED THE EXISTENCE OF SUCH RECALL. I'M REACHING OUT TO YOU FOR HELP SOLVING THIS SITUATION. SINCERELY [XXX]. ON 8/4/2017, I WENT INTO REVERSE AT A PARKING LOT AND A/T SHIFT BECAME LOOSE. COULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND ONLY COULD MOVE BACK REGARDLESS OF GEAR SELECTED. THIS MALFUNCTION COULD HAVE LET ME EXPOSED TO INCOMING TRAFFIC. A MECHANIC FRIEND OF MINE FOUND THAT A BROKEN BUSHING AND STRETCHED SHIFTER CABLE WERE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS LESS THAN 32 000 MILES AND WELL KEPT.
AFTER REFUELING VEHICLE THERE ARE STRONG GAS FUMES IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING CAUSING ME TO VENT THE CAR INTERIORS BY LOWERING THE WINDOWS AND APPLY THE A/C FANS ON HIGH........ ALSO THE CAR HORNS STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT REASON WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND ALSO AFFECTED THE ALARM SYSTEM
STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF MY 2011 C6 CORVETTE GRAND SPORT WITH NO VISIBLE FUEL LEAKS. THE SMELL IS EVIDENT AFTER FILLING THE CAR UP, WHILE DRIVING BELOW 40 MPH AND ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING ON A LONG SWEEPING LEFT TURN. THE LOCAL CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER QUOTED $1,800 TO REPAIR. THE SERVICE WRITER STATED HE HAS SEEN NUMEROUS IDENTICAL ISSUES ON THE C6 CORVETTES.MY VEHICLE HAS 44,000 MILES. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING MY CAR BUT I HAVE OVERSPENT ON THE CAR AND CANNOT AFFORD WHIMSICALLY SPENDING NEARLY $2000 FOR A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING.
GAS SMELL IN GARAGE AFTER VEHICLE IS PARKED. HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND GAS CAP HAS BEEN VERIFIED TO BE CLOSED CORRECTLY. ALSO HAS FUMES INSIDE CAR AFTER BEING PARKED UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES.
FUEL SMELL WHEN I FILL THE TANK.
DURING HARDER ACCELERATION, THE AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE INDICATOR IS OFF. THIS CONDITION HAS ONLY OCCURRED WITH HEAVY ACCELERATION, BUT HAPPENS EVERY TIME.
WHILE DRIVING I WOULD HEAR RATTLING NOISES COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A PROPELLER SHAFT BOLT INSIDE THE TORQUE TUBE ASSEMBLY CAME LOSE AND DAMAGED THE BEARING INSIDE THE TORQUE TUBE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FREEZE/FAIL, LOSE CONTROL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE TORQUE TUBE ASSEMBLY REMOVED AND REPLACED. THIS OCCURRED ONE WEEK AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF GM'S FIVE YEAR DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY.
"SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM HAS BEEN SHOWN ON THE DISPLAY SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR O 3/23/16 WITH 1238 MILES. CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR OVER A WEEK AND STILL NO FIXED.
I BEGAN NOTICING A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR COMING FROM THE CAR. I RESEARCHED THIS SYMPTOM AND DISCOVERED IT WAS A COMMON AND WELL KNOWN PROBLEM RELATED TO DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMPS FOR MY MODEL YEAR CAR. SPECIFICALLY, THE FUEL PUMPS DEVELOP CRACKS IN THE SUPPLY OUTLET OF THE PUMP, AND THEN LEAK FUEL ALONG THE TOP OF THE TANK, WHICH THEN FLOWS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TANK. I HAD TO REPLACE THE PUMP, WHICH THE DEALER NOW SHOWS HAVING A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER THAN THE ORIGINAL.
I HAVE A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL IN MY GARAGE AFTER I DRIVE MY CAR. I REPLACED THE GAS CAP AND IT DID NOT GO AWAY. IT IS STRONGER WHEN I HAVE FILLED THE TANK (I DO NOT OVERFILL). I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT QUITE A FEW OWNERS OF C6 CORVETTED HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. MY FEAR IS THAT FUEL IS BEING SPRAYED FROM A CRACK IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP JUST OUTSIDE THE TANK AND COULD RESULT IN A FIRE AND INJURY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, A FUEL ODOR EMITTED IN AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FRACTURED AND LEAKING FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,860.
FUEL PUMP CRACKED AND PUMPING GAS OUTSIDE THE TANKS ONTO THE CAR. FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. COULD SMELL GAS INSIDE THE CAR AND OUTSIDE
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD APPEARS DURING VEHICLE ACCELERATION, WHILE IN MOTION, INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO GORDON CHEVROLET (ADDRESS BELOW) FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER CHANGED THE FRONT IMPACT SENSORS OF THE VEHICLE AT MY COST. UPON RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK, IT IMMEDIATELY REPORTED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY (AIR BAG LIGHT). TO THIS DATE THE DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE, WOULD NOT REFUND ME FOR MISDIAGNOSES AND WILL NOT RETURN MY PHONE CALLS REGARDING A REMEDY TO THE ISSUE. STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF MY 2011 C6 CORVETTE GRAND SPORT WITH NO VISIBLE FUEL LEAKS. THE GARAGE IS FILLED WITH THE SMELL OF GAS ANYTIME THE CAR IS PARKED WITH OVER 1/2 A TANK OVERNIGHT. THE LOCAL CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER QUOTED $1,600 TO PULL THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACE THE LEFT FUEL PUMP. THE SERVICE WRITER STATED HE HAS SEEN NUMEROUS IDENTICAL ISSUES ON THE C6 CORVETTES AND EVEN SHOWED ME PHOTOS ON HIS PHONE OF WHERE THE FUEL PUMP CRACKS ON THE THE TOP. MY VEHICLE HAS 46,000 MILES. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE PARKING MY CAR IN MY GARAGE NEXT TO MY GAS WATER HEATER.
THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AFTER COMPLETING SELF CHECK DIAGNOSTICS THAT ARE INITIATED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. THIS INDICATES THE SYSTEM MAY NOT BE WORKING PROPERLY AND MAY NOT INFLATE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR COULD DEPLOY WITHOUT A CRASH. ALSO, THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY. CHEVROLET DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM IN DECEMBER, 2014. A CONNECTOR FROM THE SEAT BELT AND SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG SENSORS HAD DISLODGED FROM A RETAINED POSITION (CLIP ATTACHED TO A BAR) UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE TECHNICIAN REATTACHED THE CONNECTOR USING THE CLIP TO THE FASTEN IT TO THE BAR UNDER THE SEAT AND CLEARED ERROR MESSAGES FROM THE COMPUTER. THIS ELIMINATED THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT. THE TECHNICIAN BELIEVED THAT THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT WITH THE CONNECTOR IMPROPERLY SECURED CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM RECURRED ON JANUARY 2, 2015, ONCE UPON START UP, CLEARED, AND THEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. I CHECKED THE CONNECTOR AND IT AGAIN HAD DISLODGED. WHEN THE CONNECTOR IS ATTACHED TO THE BAR UNDER THE SEAT, THE CONNECTOR IT IS SO CLOSE TO THE FLOOR THAT WHEN THE SEAT IS MOVED, THE CONNECTOR DRAGS ON THE FLOOR, DISLODGING IT. THE SEAT MOVEMENT APPARENTLY RESULTS IN A LOSS OF CONTINUITY IN THE SYSTEM ILLUMINATING THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS A MEMORY SEAT AND HENCE, IT MOVES ITS FULL TRAVEL DISTANCE BACK UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE AND THEN RETURNS TO A PRESET POSITION UPON STARTING THE CAR. MY CONCERN IS THAT, ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL, THIS MAY DISABLE THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG, CAUSE IT TO DEPLOY WITHOUT A CRASH AND CAUSE THE SHOULDER BELT PRETENSIONER TO FAIL IN AN ACCIDENT. SINCE THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, THE PROBLEM COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, A CHIME SOUNDED AND ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
VEHICLE PARKED ON LEVEL GROUND IN STORE PARKING LOT. PERSON PARKED NEXT TO MY CAR STATED, HEARD "WEIRD NOISES', COMING FROM VEHICLE THEN IT STARTED TO ROLL INTO DYED SWAMP. CAR EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.VEHICLE WILL NOT START WITH TRANSMISSION IN PARKED POSITION BUT WILL CONTINUE TO ROLL FORWARD WITH TRANSMISSION IN PARKED POSITION ON ITS OWN. AIR BAGS WAS NOT DEPLOYED & HAD TO BE TOWED. TRANSMISSION PROBLEM? *TR
AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR TWO HOURS IT WAS PARKED FOR SEVEN HOURS. UPON RESTARTING THE AIR BAG READINESS LIGHT CAME ON FLASHING AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG STATUS INDICATOR HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING.SO THE SYSTEM DOES NOT KNOW IF SOMEBODY IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL IT ALSO INDICATES THAT THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
OPERATING VEHICLE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, STOP AND GO FOR 30 MINUTES. ACCELERATING FROM TRAFFIC LIGHT, MAKING GEAR CHANGE FROM SECOND TO THIRD AT 25 MPH CLUTCH PEDDLE WENT TO FLOOR HARD, UNABLE TO COMPLETE GEAR CHANGE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH NO POWER, TRAFFIC BEHIND VEHICLE MADE HARD STOP TO AVOID HITTING MY CAR. CAUSED MAJOR TRAFFIC JAM UNTIL VEHICLE COULD BE PUSHED OFF ROAD. *TR

AS I LEFT THE GROCERY STORE I STARTED TO HEAD HOME WHEN THE 11 CORVETTE GS SENT A MESSAGE TO THE DIC ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, IT SAID TO SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING, THE PROBLEM IS IT LOCKS UP THE FRONT BRAKES, WHILE THIS MAY NOT SOUND TOO SERIOUS AT LOW SPEEDS, IMAGINE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THE BRAKES LOCK UP ON YOUR CAR. IT OCCURS PULLING ONTO GRASS OR LOOSE GRAVEL ALSO, ESPECIALLY IN TURNS. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT FOR IT TO MOVE AGAIN. MY WIFE STARTED READING THE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON SERVICE THE ACTIVE HANDLING ON THE CORVETTE FORUMS AND WHAT IT HAS DONE TO THE VEHICLES FROM PEOPLE THAT HAD ISSUES WITH THERE VEHICLES WHEN THE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING MESSAGE APPEARED ON THERE (DIC) DIGITAL INFORMATION CENTER THAT SHE NO LONGER RIDES IN THE CAR WITH ME. THIS VEHICLE HAS SEEN MORE DEALER SERVICE THAN ANY OTHER VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED. *TR

I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES WITH PROBLEM OF THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING MY CAR. TO DATE THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IF I AM IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND THAT AIR BAG SENSOR DOES NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. CAR IS A 2011 CORVETTE GRAND SPORT COUPE. INTERMITTENT DISPLAY OF "MAX SPEED 80 MPH, SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING, SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM AND THE SECURITY LIGHT FOR THE ANTITHEFT SYSTEM STAYS ON. WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART 1-2 TIMES, CODES CLEAR AND OPERATION RETURNS TO NORMAL. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER THREE TIMES. LAST TIME (28000 MILES) THEY KEPT CAR OVERNIGHT AND DROVE OVER 100 MILES BEFORE THEY FINALLY REPRODUCED THE PROBLEM. ON 6/12/12 THEY REPLACED THE EBCM AND INVOICE DESCRIPTION SAID "28216 CHECKED AND FOUND CODES P2548 AND P0856. PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC FOR CODES AND FOUND INTERMITTENT LOSS OF DATA FROM EBCM TO ECM. REPLACED EBCM AND REPROGRAMMED MODULE. CODE #28841. RECHECKED AFTER REPAIRS OK AT THIS TIME". PROBLEM RECURRED LAST WEEK ON 8/26/12 AT 33000 MILES. WILL TAKE BACK TO DEALER THIS WEEK. *TR
AUTO LOW BEAMS DO NOT WORK AT NIGHT INTERMITTENTLY. GREEN HEADLIGHT ON INDICATOR IS LIT. THE SWITCH WILL NOT TURN THEM ON EITHER. HIGH BEAMS WORK AND FOG LIGHTS WORK. HAPPENED A FEW TIMES, DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FIND ANY TROUBLE CODES OR PROBLEMS. THEY SAID BRIG IT BACK WHILE IT IS HAPPENING. TURNING ALL LIGHTS OFF GIVES A WARNING "HEADLIGHTS SUGGESTED" INDICATING THE SENSOR IS WORKING. I START THE CAR IN A DARK GARAGE AND LIGHTS WORK. I MADE A PAINTER'S TAPE COVER TO COVER THE LIGHT SENSOR SO IF I EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM IN DAY TIME, I CAN DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER MAKING THE CAR THINK IT'S STILL DARK. $65,000 FOR A CAR WITH INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT? *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS PUMPING GAS AT A GAS STATION ON AN INTERSTATE ACCESS ROAD. CAR WAS NOT RUNNING AND WAS LOCKED. HE HAD BEEN AT THE PUMP FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN WALKED INTO THE STORE FOR SOMETHING TO DRINK. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD PEOPLE YELLING AND TURNED TO LOOK AND THEN SAW MY HUSBAND'S UNMANNED CAR SLOWLY ROLLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION INTO THE ACCESS ROAD DURING RUSH HOUR. A COUPLE OF INDIVIDUALS TRIED TO STOP THE CAR BUT IT WAS LOCKED AND MY HUSBAND HAD THE KEYS IN HIS POCKET. SEVERAL VEHICLES SWERVED TO MISS THE CAR BUT IT EVENTUALLY HIT AN INDIVIDUAL'S VEHICLE IN THE CENTER LANE OF THE ACCESS ROAD CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HYDRO PLANNED DURING A RAIN STORM, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE INTO ANOTHER LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE COVER TO GO OVER THE SPRING WAS BURNT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE GASKET UNDERNEATH THE MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ONCE AGAIN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THIS TIME WITH A MANIFOLD, THE COIL SPARK CORD AND MISFIRE CYLINDER 5 AND 6 NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 37,015.
