HEATER WILL ONLY BLOW COLD AIR ON MY 2006 EQUINOX. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I CANNOT DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY CHEVY OWNER. PLEASE CHEVY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU PRODUCTS. *TR
2006 CHEVY EQUINOX HEATER BLEND DOOR SHAFT BROKEN AND NO HEAT IS COMING OUT. DEALER WANTS $1100 TO FIX IT, CANNOT AFFORD IT. I AGREE, GM SHOULD RECALL, SAFETY HAZARD WHEN YOU CANNOT SEE OUT OF THE WINDOWS. *TR
THE CENTER CARRIER BARING IN MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND FALLING APART. THE PART HOWEVER IS ON BACKORDER FOR 3-6 MONTHS WHEREVER I CALL. I THINK SINCE THE PIECE IS IN SUCH GREAT DEMAND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
HEATER BLOWING ONLY COLD AIR. UNSAFE FOR MY 4 YEAR OLD AND 6 MONTH BABY TO BE IN THE COLD WEATHER WITHOUT HEAT. ALSO UNSAFE BECAUSE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CANNOT BE EFFECTIVELY DEFROSTED IN COLD WEATHER AND LEADS TO POOR VISIBILITY. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THE TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR IS BROKEN. REPLACED THE TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR. MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED SO I PAID $1070.00 OUT OF MY POCKET TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE WINDOWS DID NOT DEFROST SINCE ONLY COLD AIR CIRCULATED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED HIS VISIBILITY TO BE IMPAIRED. A MECHANIC CONCLUDED THAT THE AIR TEMPERATURE DOOR WAS BROKEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,700.
THE BLEND DOOR BROKE IN THE HVAC CASE. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT CAUSED THIS, THOUGH MY MECHANIC SAID THIS IS CAUSED BY THE HEAT BEING RUN THROUGH AT TOO HIGH A TEMPERATURE. *TR
VEHICLE INVOLVED IN A ONE-AUTO ACCIDENT - 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX - HYDROPLANED AND HIT AN EMBANKMENT WITH THE FRONT END AND FLIPPED OVER. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD AN IMPACT TO THE FRONT BUMPER AND THE AIR BAG HAS NEVER DEPLOYED. EACH TIME THE FRONT BUMPER HAD DAMAGE SUSTAINED WHICH SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THE IMPACT THE SET THE AIR BAG OFF. *TR
I HAVE NO HEAT IN MY CAR. THE HEATER IS BLOWING COLD AIR. I HAVE A FOUR YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND WILL HAVE TO GET IT FIXED IMMEDIATELY DESPITE GM SUGGESTING THAT I HAVE IT DIAGNOSED THEN CALL THEM BACK. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE WITH THE BLEND DOOR, BASED ON INFORMATION FOUND ON THE INTERNET. THERE APPEARS TO BE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL BASED ON INFORMATION CONTAINED ON THE INTERNET. IT DOES NOT APPEAR AS THOUGH THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
2006 EQUINOX WITH 32,000 MILES. NO HEAT. DEALER SAID CONTROL WAS BAD, REPLACED THAT THEN SAID THE BLEND DOOR WAS ALSO BAD. HAD TO REPLACE THAT ALSO. THESE ARE VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS FOR A 3 YR OLD CAR, JUST OUT OF WARRANTY BY A COUPLE OF MONTHS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WITH 41,000 MILES ON IT. AT ABOUT 50 MPH I FELT A VIBRATION. A MECHANIC THEN INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT I NEEDED A CARRIER BEARING FOR THE DRIVESHAFT, AND THAT THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM FREQUENTLY. WHEN I APPROACHED THE DEALER TO SECURE THE REPLACEMENT PART, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS CURRENTLY AT LEAST A THREE MONTH WAIT FOR THE PART, AND THAT IT WAS NOT ADVISABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR SAFETY REASONS. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THERE WERE OTHERS WAITING FOR THE PART AS THERE IS A NATIONWIDE SHORTAGE. CALLS TO OTHER DEALERS RESULTED IN THE SAME OUTCOME, THERE WERE MANY CUSTOMERS WAITING FOR THIS PART AND WERE UNABLE TO DRIVE THEIR VEHICLE IN THE MEANWHILE. THE PARTS ARE ON ORDER, BUT IT IS CLEARLY APPARENT THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THIS PART, AS IT SHOULD NOT NEED REPLACEMENT SO OFTEN AND IN LOW MILEAGE VEHICLES. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX. PURCHASED THE CAR BACK IN AUGUST 2009 AND A FEW DAYS AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I WOULD TURN THE KEY TO TURN THE CAR ON AND IT WOULDN'T COMPLETELY TURN OVER AND IT WOULD "STICK," CAUSING ME TO TURN THE CAR BACK TO OFF. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR THE FIRST TIME, THE SECOND TIME WOULD USUALLY WORK. NOW, IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE THE CAR WON'T TURN OVER WITHOUT PRESSING THE GAS, IF I DON'T PRESS THE GAS THE ENGINE WON'T START AT ALL. I CAN TURN THE KEY ON AND OFF; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 TIMES BUT IT REFUSES TO START WITHOUT THE GAS (I'M WORRIED I'M GOING TO FLOOD THE ENGINE NOW). THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY DURING ANYTIME OF DAY AND DURING ANY WEATHER CONDITIONS, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T EVEN HAPPEN FOR DAYS/WEEKS THEN SUDDENLY THE PROBLEM COMES BACK AND ITS WORSE. THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS ESPECIALLY WITH A CAR WITH ONLY 70,000 MILES ON IT. NO DEALER WILL HELP ME BECAUSE THE CAR WILL NEVER ACT UP FOR THEM. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND I AM RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS. I DON'T WANT TO BE LEFT STRANDED BECAUSE GM WON'T HELP ANYONE WITH A PROBLEM A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE SAME YEAR AND CAR! *TR
SOUNDS LIKE A DRAGGING MUFFLER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR JUST IDLING. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD JUST LISTEN TO IT, NEEDED TO USE A STETHOSCOPE TO PINPOINT WHERE THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM. A BOLT HAD FALLEN FROM THE OIL PAN AND WAS OCCASIONALLY HITTING THE FLY WHEEL. WE WERE TOLD WE COULDN'T DRIVE IT UNTIL IT WAS FIXED AND THAT WE EITHER HAD TO HAVE IT DONE THERE OR TOWED TO WHERE IT WOULD BE FIXED. IF WE TRIED TO DRIVE IT THE FLY WHEEL COULD NOT ONLY HAVE BROKEN TEETH BUT ALSO THROW THE BOLT THROUGH THE ENGINE. WE WERE TOLD IF THEY COULD JUST USE A MAGNET TO REACH THE BOLT THEN IT WOULD BE ROUGHLY $400, BUT IF THEY HAD TO DROP THE TRANSMISSION IT WOULD BE MORE. I CAN'T SEE HOW THIS WOULD BE "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR", $1000 LATER. I AM HOPING TO CONTACT GM WITH MY COMPLAINT, BUT NOT EXPECTING TO GET ANYWHERE. *TR
FRONT WHEEL BEARING HUBS WERE REPLACED AT 32,000 MILES, ALL UNDER WARRANTY. THESE ARE NOW SOUNDING LIKE THESE ARE GOING BAD AGAIN. IT IS A 2006 EQUINOX FWD WITH 68,000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHEEL BEARINGS WERE BUILT INTO THE HUB AND WHEN IT WOULD FAIL, IT COULD CAUSE THE WHEEL TO FRACTURE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER TWO YEARS AGO BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR WHEELS HAD TO BE REPLACED AS A RESULT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE BEARINGS WERE BONE DRY AND HAD CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
KEY STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED. *TR
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS BAD AT 50,000. PROBLEM STARTED AT 25000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. TOOK TO AUTHORIZED GM DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER ROTORS EVEN THOUGH THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED THE BRAKES PULSATE AND THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHEN SHE PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. TO RELEASE THE PEDAL SHE HAD TO PRESS IT RAPIDLY SEVERAL TIMES. SHE HAS EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE BRAKE FAILURE ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND SOME RELATED SWITCHES; HOWEVER, SHE DOES NOT REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE SWITCHES THAT WERE REPLACED. REPORT NUMBER 71764846662 WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT HER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,700.
THE HEATER CORE WAS REPLACED ON MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX IN APRIL OF 2009 AT 29,000 MILES. IT NOW NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2012 AT 57,500 MILES. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS NO COST TO ME. BUT NOW IT NEEDS REPLACED, AGAIN AT $1100+ (DEALER ESTIMATE). AFTER A WEEKLONG BATTLE WITH GM, THEY OFFERED ME A 50% COST SHARE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AT 29,000 AND AGAIN AT 57,500!! IT HAS GOT TO BE SOME SORT OF DESIGN FLAW. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN DEFECT (DUE TO ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS), BUT THEY REFUSE TO RECALL!! *TR
THE HEATER IN MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX DOES NOT WORK. IT ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR AND THE REPAIRS ARE IN UPWARDS OF $1200. WITHOUT HEAT, THE WINDOWS CAN FOG UP VERY QUICKLY LEAVING ME UNABLE TO SEE WHILE DRIVING, THUS CAUSING A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. IT IS WINTER AND TEMPERATURES IN MY AREA REACH AS LOW AS 20 DEGREES, WITH CHILDREN, THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS NECESSARY TO KEEP THEM SAFE AND WARM. IT SEEMS FROM OTHERS RESPONSES THAT THIS IS AN ASTRONOMICAL ISSUE WITH MANY CHEVY EQUINOX OWNERS AND WE ARE ALL OUTRAGED AT THE LACK OF CONCERN FROM GM TO RECALL THIS ISSUE. NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SAFETY WITH ALL COMPANIES, GM SHOULD NOT TURN THE OTHER CHEEK TO THIS HAZARD. IT IS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY AND FROM THE PEOPLE HAVING ISSUES, IT SEEMS A RECALL IS PAST DUE. *TR
2006 CHEVY EQUINOX LT WITH 29,000 MILES PURCHASED NEW. NO COMPLAINTS UNTIL 4 APRIL WHEN DISCOVERED REAR FLOOR WET AND SPARE TIRE WELL FULL OF CLEAN CLEAR WATER. RAINED HEAVY DAY BEFORE NEVER HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE. WARRANTY EXPIRED LESS THAN 15 DAYS. SPRAYED WATER OVER ENTIRE CAR, UNDER CAR, AROUND WINDOWS, WHEEL WELLS ETC. CAN FIND NO LEAKS. WAITING FOR NEXT BIG RAIN TO DECIDE. *TR
MY 2006 EQUINOX HAS BEEN SHUTTING ITSELF OFF WHILE DRIVING IT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 70 MPH AND WITHOUT NOTICE, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. HOW I MANAGED TO COAST FROM THE FAST LANE TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WITHOUT CAUSING A WRECK, GOD ONLY KNOWS. IT HAS DONE THE SAME THING ON 3 OTHER OCCASIONS. I WAS SIMPLY RUNNING ERRANDS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON EITHER. AFTER WAITING A MINUTE, THE CAR RESTARTS AND CAN BE DRIVEN. BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 2 TIMES SO FOR REPAIRS AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. (GOING BACK FOR NUMBER 3 TODAY.) NO COMPUTER CODES APPEAR TO BE DIAGNOSED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I CAN'T BE DRIVING A CAR AND IT JUST DECIDES TO SHUT DOWN ON ITS OWN. I HAVE KIDS AND CAN'T BE PUTTING THEIR LIFE IN DANGER OR EVEN THE OTHER MOTORIST. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING ON OTHER CAR SITES AND FOUND 6 OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. I THINK CHEVROLET NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 EQUINOX-CHEVROLET ALMOST 3 YRS ALREADY. I HAD A VERY DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE TWICE W/THE CAR, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN SLOWED DOWN COMPLETELY AND WOULD NO ACCELERATE AT ALL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT IS A PROBLEM THIS PARTICULAR MODEL CAR HAS FROM FACTORY.I HAVE READ EQUINOX COMPLAINT--RECALLS AND READ SEVERAL THAT ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A REALLY BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR A CAR TO TURN OFF/SLOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH--THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT CAN RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE HEAT HAS WORKED FINE UP UNTIL MARCH 14. THE DEALER TOOK IT AND SAID IT WAS THE HEAT DOOR ACTUATOR. THE SHAFT HAD BROKEN AND THEY REPLACED IT. *TR
ON 2/29/2009 ABS SYSTEM STARTED TO ACTIVATE AROUND 10-15 MPH WITH OR WITHOUT BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THIS OCCURS ALL THE TIME WHILE MOVING FORWARD OR REVERSE. VEHICLE IS 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH 27,500 MILES. *TR
VEHICLE NO LONGER BLOWS HOT AIR WHEN HEAT IS ON THEREFORE THE DEFROSTER WILL NOT BLOW HOT AIR AS WELL. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD! IF WINDOWS ARE FOGGED OR ICED DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER YOU CAN NOT SEE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN FATALITIES. I FOUND OVER 500 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WITH A PLASTIC TEMPERATURE DOOR VALVE (TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR) THAT IS BROKEN. ACCORDING TO OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS AND THE SERVICE DEPT MANAGER AT OUR LOCAL GM DEALER, THE COST TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PART IS AROUND $1300 FOR $50-$80 METAL PART. FURTHERMORE, BY REPLACING THE PLASTIC PART PREVIOUSLY USED TO A METAL PART IN THE NEWER VEHICLES CLEARLY SUGGEST GM KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CRAPPY PLASTIC PART PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND GM NEED TO STEP TO THE PLATE AND RECALL THIS ITEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. MY WIFE ALREADY DAMAGED THE CAR AND TOOK OUT A MAILBOX DUE TO REDUCE VISIBILITY. *TR

I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX THAT HAS A DEFECTIVE BLEND DOOR THAT BROKE AT THE SHAFT CONNECTED TO THE HVAC ACTUATOR. THIS CAUSES THE HEATER TO BLOW ONLY COLD AIR AND THE DEFROST WILL NOT WORK BECAUSE WARM AIR IS BLOCKED BY THE DEFECTIVE PART. I HAVE A ONE YEAR OLD SON AND THIS PROVED VERY DANGEROUS FOR US BECAUSE OF BOTH LACK OF HEAT AND INABILITY TO PROPERLY DEFROST THE DRIVERS WINDSHIELD. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS IN COLD FROSTING SITUATIONS IT IS HAZARDOUS FOR ME TO DRIVE. THE PART CAN BE FIXED BUT THE COST WILL BE $1,000.00+ TO REPLACE THE PART. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX THAT HAS A BROKEN "HEATER BLENDER DOOR". APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO MY HEATER JUST STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY WANTED $1,000+ TO FIX IT. THEY SAID THE WHOLE DASH ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REMOVED TO GET TO THE HVAC BOX UNDER THE DASH TO ACCESS THE PART (HEATER BLENDER DOOR). THIS WINTER I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD BECAUSE THERE IS NO HEAT TO DEFROST IT. WHEN IT RAINS THE WINDOWS FOG UP AND I CANNOT SEE. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC TO USE THE AIR CONDITIONER TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD BUT IT DOESN'T WORK IT JUST MAKES IT WORSE. ALSO USING THE AC DOESN'T WORK WHEN IT'S 32 DEGREES OUTSIDE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE WINDSHIELD CANNOT BE DEFROSTED WHICH CAUSES POOR VISIBILITY AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED ASAP. *TR

HE MENTIONED THAT WHEN HE TRIED TO PUT IT ON, IT WOULD NOT BLOW HOT AIR AND IT IMPAIRED HIS VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A FAULTY TEMPERATURE ACTUATOR BLENDOR NOB AND HAD TO BE REPLACE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFERED ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000. PM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE HEATER FAILED AND BEGAN BLOWING COLD AIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE HEATHER VALVE DOOR AND THE HEATER VALVE DOOR. THE DASHBOARD WILL NEED TO BE REMOVED AT AN APPROXIMATE COST OF $1,500. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 59,000.
NOTHING SPECIAL DONE, BLEND DOOR JUST BROKE, THEREFORE WE HAVE NO HEATER OR DEFROSTER. CANNOT DRIVE CAR WHEN IT IS COLD AND DEFROSTER IS NEEDED OUTSIDE. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE FIRST WAS ISSUES WITH IT NOT WANTING TO START. AT THAT POINT IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE IGNITION. THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE FOUR YEARS THAT I'VE HAD IT, AND NOW OCCURS ALMOST EVERY TIME I START MY CAR. I'VE ALSO HAD THE HEATER BLOW COLD AIR, AND THE DEALER REPLACED BLOWER DOOR AND ACTUATOR. I CONTACTED GM, WHO AGREED TO PAY HALF OF THE COST. THAT WAS IN JANUARY OF 2009. SINCE THEN, I'VE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES AS WELL WITH THE KEY GETTING "STUCK" IN THE IGNITION. USUALLY AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF MOVING STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH, IT WILL FINALLY COME OUT. THIS HAPPENED MOSTLY THIS PAST SUMMER WHEN IT WAS REALLY HOT OUTSIDE. I'VE ALSO HEARD CLICKING NOISES COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE RANDOMLY WHEN I TURN MY CAR RIGHT AFTER MY CAR HAS BEEN PARKED AND RUNNING FOR AWHILE. ANOTHER ISSUE IS REVVING UP FOR NO REASON. BOTH TIMES I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THEN STARTED TO TURN LEFT AND CAR REVS UP AND SEEMS TO GET STUCK IN GEAR THEN EVENTUALLY KICKS OUT. AFTER READING THE OTHER REPORTS, I AM NOW SCARED THAT THE NEXT ISSUE IS GOING TO BE MY CAR SHUTTING DOWN WHILE I'M DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I WORK IN HOME HEALTH, THEREFORE I AM DRIVING MY CAR ALL DAY EVERYDAY. I ALSO HAVE A TODDLER AND WORRY ABOUT HIS SAFETY IN MY VEHICLE. *TR
THIS VEHICLE BLOWS OUT COLD AIR WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. IT DOES NOT DEFROST AND TAKE CLOSE TO 30 MINUTES TO COME TO A TOLERABLE HEAT TEMPERATURE. I SPENT 500.00 TRYING TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE AND IT STILL DOES NOT WORK. *TR
MY BLEND DOOR ALSO BROKE FROM DEEP INSIDE THE DASH CAUSING THE HEAT SETTING TO BLOW ONLY COLD AIR AND I AM UNABLE TO DEFOG WINDSHIELD. SINCE PURCHASE THE VEHICLE HAS HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING. 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX. UPON TURNING ON THE CAR, IN COOL WEATHER(25DEGREESF),THE POWER STEERING FAILED TO PROVIDE POWER ASSIST. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES LIKE THIS. LATER THAT EVENING AROUND 1 HOUR LATER, WENT OUT AND POWER STEERING WORKED PROPERLY. FIRST AND ONLY TIME IT HAPPENED TO DATE. I HAD TO PAY $700 TO HAVE A DOOR IN MY HEATER REPLACED BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAD RAN OUT THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING A LOT AND NOW THEY ARE PLACING METAL DOORS IN THE HEATER INSTEAD OF PLASTIC SO WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED? 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX FUEL GAUGES DOES NOT READ ACCURATE. WHEN FULL IT READS 3/4 OF TANK TO 1/2. IT WILL THEN GO TO ALMOST FULL AS GAS GOES DOWN. I NOTICED THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM OTHERS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS IT IS NOT SAFE WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL YOU HAVE. GM SAYS ITS A CORROSION PROBLEM WITH THE SENDER IN THE TANK. SHOULDN'T THAT BE THERE PROBLEM TO FIX? SEEMS THEY CHOSE THE WRONG MATERIAL TO USE IN THE TANK IF THAT IS THE CASE. I HAVE NEVER OWNED ANY OTHER CAR WHICH HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. GM SAYS THE SENDING UNIT NEEDS REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $500.00 INCLUDING LABOR. *TR

ALL IS GOOD UNTIL THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON THEN YOU CAN GO ABOUT 10MPH - ALSO KNOW AS "LIMP MODE", WHICH AROUND HERE WOULD BE "RUN ME OVER" MODE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND I HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE TO NOT GET HIT WHEN IT HAS HAPPENED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS SHE NOTICED A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE WHEEL BEARING HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL BEARING FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN FOUR YEARS. IN ADDITION, THE CONTAC STATED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS BETWEEN THE CUP HOLDERS AND IF A CUP WAS PLACED INSIDE, IT WOULD BLOCK THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FROM BEING ENGAGED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
VEHICLE FIRE. CELL PHONE CHARGER WAS PLUGGED INTO THE FRONT AUXILIARY POWER OUTLET. 2-3 MINUTES LATER SMOKE WAS NOTICED, AND FIRE ERUPTED FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE WHERE THE POWER OUTLET IS LOCATED. VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PHONE CHARGER WAS UNPLUGGED, BURNING THE TIP OF ONE FINGER. VEHICLE WAS EXITED AND 911 WAS CALLED. FIRE DEPT. ARRIVED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. PHONE CHARGER AND PHONE ARE INTACT AND WERE NOT BURNED OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY, I IN FACT WAS STILL USING THEM IN OUR OTHER VEHICLE UNTIL REQUESTED NOT TO, BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY, AND TO HOLD THEM FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. AFTER THE FIRE, THE FUSE FOR THE POWER OUTLET WAS CHECKED AND HAD BLOWN OUT. DON'T KNOW YET WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. IT CERTAINLY APPEARS THE WIRING SHORTED OUT? VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR

WE PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX IN MAY 2007. IN SEPT. WE STARTED TO NOTICE A STRANGE ODOR IN THE CAR. I HEARD WATER SLOSHING AROUND IN THE CAR ON INSPECTION OF THE CAR WE FOUND STANDING WATER IN THE TIRE WELL OF THE CAR. EVERYTIME WE CLEAN THE WATER OUT OF THE TIREWELL IT RETURNS. THE CAR WAS PARKED FROM TUESDAY 8/19 UNTIL 8/23 DUE TO TROPICAL STORM FAY. ON 8/24, THE FLOORBOARDS WERE SOAKING WET FROM UNDER THE DASHBOARD TO UNDER THE BACK SEAT; PUSH ON THE CARPET AND WATER WOULD JUST WELL UP. THE PARKING LOT WAS NOT FLOODED, THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP; THE SEATS WERE DRY, AS WAS ALL OF THE INSIDE PANELS; SO I'M NOT SURE WHERE THE WATER CAME FROM. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED, I BROUGHT IT WITH ME FROM NEVADA WHEN I MOVED. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT WHENEVER WATER ENTERED THE TRANSMISSIONS PROTECTION SHIELD IT CAUSED THE VEHICLES SPEED TO DECREASE. THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION SHIELD. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WAS $570.00. THE CONTACT IS ALSO UNABLE TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD SINCE THE HEATER MOTOR FAILED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. A COMPLAINT REGARDING THE FAILURE WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE WARRANTY EXPIRED; THEREFORE, THEY WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,537.
