FIRST TIME OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. THE END OF JUNE, 2014 BEGAN NOTICING THAT THE GPS WOULD NOT SAVE DESTINATIONS WHEN TRAVELING, WOULD HAVE TO REENTER ADDRESS ANYTIME THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON. SHORTLY AFTER THIS, THE CLOCK STOPPED WORKING, WHEN THE TIME WAS CORRECTED, IF WOULD RESET AFTER IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON TO THE INCORRECT TIME. THE BLUETOOTH ALSO BEGAN RANDOMLY DISCONNECTING AND WOULD NOT CONNECT ANYMORE. SEPT. 24TH, THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. OWNER WAS TOLD THE ENTIRE NAVIGATION SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED, FOR QUOTED $1300. OWNER NOT SATISFIED, WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER, AND THAT THERE WAS BAD WIRING. OWNER FEELS THAT GM SHOULD COVER THE DEFECTIVE PART. IF BAD WIRING EXISTS, THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. OWNER ALSO FOUND SERVICE BULLETIN PI-0285-D, WHICH WAS CONSISTENT WITH THE PROBLEMS THAT HAD BEEN OCCURRING. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE OWNER DID NOT PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, GM WILL ONLY COVER A PERCENTAGE OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND SHOOK. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE INTAKE CAM SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,724.
SEPT.09,2014 WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 11 YEAR GRANDSON THE ENGINE TURNED OFF! WE FEAR FOR OUR LIVES. *TR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN SEPTEMBER 2014... GM RECALL 14271 AFTER MAKING NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS OVER THE LAST 3 MONTHS TO BOTH THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER THERE IS STILL NO PART AVAILABLE TO REMEDY THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THE ONLY RESPONSE IS THE "PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE" AND "WE HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE IN." *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V447000 (SEATS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING THE 2011 EQUINOX WILL JERK OR JUMP AS IF BEING HIT FROM BEHIND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE STABILITY TRACK LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF PERIODICALLY WHILE IN MOTION. WHEN THE CAR IS BEING TURNED OFF IT SHAKES AS IF THE MOTOR IS GOING TO FALL OUT. I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE AC BEFORE TURNING THE IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF POSITION TO DECREASE SOME OF THE SHAKING, YET IT DOES NOT PREVENT IT. FURTHERMORE WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX.. 30-35MPHS, THE CAR JUMPS TO 5TH GEAR WITHOUT ALLOWING TO ACCELERATE ANY FASTER IN THE MIST OF TRAFFIC.THE 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX SHAKES AND MAKES A WINING NOISE WHILE IDLING. IT DOES SO TO THE POINT WHERE THE HOOD IS SHAKING. THE CAR ONLY HAS 54000 MILES ON IT. ALSO I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY ADJUST THE SEATBELT WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IT CUTS INTO MY NECK WHICH IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND A HUGE DISTRACTION. THIS CAR WILL NOW GO FORWARD IN DRIVE BUT IT WILL NOT REVERSE. *TR
INITIALLY THE ISSUE STARTED WITH ROUGH IDLING OF THE CAR, ENGINE TICKING, AND ENGINE STALLING. AFTER INDICATING THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ECM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED BECAUSE THE OIL LIFE INDICATOR WAS NOT PROPERLY CALIBRATED CAUSING THE SYSTEM TO THINK THAT THERE WAS MORE LIFE ON THE OIL THAN THERE ACTUALLY WAS. THE ENGINE BALANCE CHAIN EVENTUALLY BROKE WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE (55 MPH), DUE TO IMPROPER OIL LUBRICATION. THE FUEL PUMP, WATER PUMP, AND A FEW OTHER ITEMS HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE DAMAGE CAUSED WHEN THE CHAIN BROKE. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN AFTER ENGINE TICKING/ ROUGH IDLING RE-OCCURED AND THEY INDICATED TO ME THAT THE ENGINE TICKING DURING STARTUP WAS NORMAL. THE ENGINE TICKING PROGRESSED TO BECOMING A CONSTANT NOISE. I NOTICED THAT WHEN I TOOK THE OIL IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES IN, THAT THE OIL DIPSTICK WOULD COME UP COMPLETELY DRY. THIS INDICATED THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO INDICATED THAT PISTONS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THIS INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS OBSERVING SOME EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF HEAT MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. DURING THESE ISSUES, NO SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT EVER CAME ON. THE CAR HAD TO BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHICH INDICATED THAT THE CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR SOLENOIDS AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MOST LIKELY FAILED DUE OIL SEEPING INTO THE EXHAUST WHICH COATED THE CERAMIC SUBSTRATE & THE EXCESSIVE HEAT EXPERIENCED BY THE ENGINE (AS INDICATED BY THE CRACKED MANIFOLD) DAMAGED THE CERAMIC SUBSTRATE. OIL CONSUMPTION LEADS TO EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE WHICH CAN BE A FIRE HAZARD. ENGINE STALLING DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION LEADS TO CRASH SAFETY ISSUES.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WON'T GO OFF AND WON'T STOP DINGING. NO CRASHES, NO SUDDEN STOPS, 33,000 MILES. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE DEALERS EXPENSE. *TR
MY WIFE PURCHASED A 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH A WINDOW STICKER STATING A FOUR CYLINDER ENGINE. IT HAD 1800 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN PURCHASED. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AND FOUND IT HAS A SIX CYLINDER ENGINE. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE AND WHO SHOULD I SPEAK WITH AT GM. I'M VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE TERRIBLE GAS MILEAGE AND A SIX CYL ENGINE WAS NOT SHOWN ON THE PAPER WORK? *TR
1.WHILE DRIVING IN NASHVILLE FOR WORK THE FIRST OCCURRENCE STARTED WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. MOMENTS LATER CHECK TRACTION CONTROL WARNING POPPED UP AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER A REDUCED ENGINE POWER NOTIFICATION AND VEHICLE LOST POWER. WENT FROM 55 TO 30 MPH IN SECONDS. I HAVE NO CLUE HOW THIS DID NOT CAUSE A WRECK IN THE HEAVY TRAFFIC. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM ([XXX] IN CLARKSVILLE, TN) AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A LOOSE TIMING CHAIN AND THAT THEY FIXED IT. 2.4,000 MILES LATER WHILE WORKING ALL THE SAME MESSAGES POPPED UP AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART ON A BUSY BYPASS. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND I PAID TO HAVE IT TOWED. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLY AND A HOUSING DUE TO IT BEING DESTROYED. IT WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY AGAIN AND THEY SERVICED IT FOR FREE. 3.VEHICLE RAN GREAT FOR 3600 MILES AND AGAIN THE SAME MESSAGE SEQUENCE OCCURRED. THE CAR FORTUNATELY CONTINUED TO RUN AND I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I INSISTED IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THAT I WANTED TO TRADE IT IN IMMEDIATELY. 2 HOURS LATER THEY OFFERED ME $7,000 UNDER BLUE BOOK BECAUSE OF ENGINE PROBLEMS. THIS WAS VERY FUNNY OF COURSE SINCE IT IS CHEVROLET AND THE DEALERSHIPS FAULT FOR SELLING SUCH A LEMON. I TOLD THEM IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. TO FIX IT AGAIN FOR FREE AND I WOULD PICK IT UP. DEALERSHIP CALLED NEXT DAY. SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. IT WAS OUT OF OIL AND THAT CAUSED SAFETIES TO KICK IN AND THAT CREATED THE PROBLEM. I ASK HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE YOU CHANGED MY OIL 3600 MILES AGO. 4.LAST WEEK (AGAIN 3800 MILES LATER) THE CAR PRODUCED ALL OF THE SAME MESSAGES AND STALLED ON THE SAME BUSY BYPASS. THIS TIME I HAD MY (XXX)YEAR OLD AND (XXX) YEAR OLD IN THE CAR. THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55 SO OF COURSE TRAFFIC REGULARLY RUNS 60 MPH. I WAS STRANDED WITH MY CHILDREN ON 20 DEGREE WEATHER WITH NO HEAT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DISPLAYED INCORRECT INFORMATION. THE MONITORING SYSTEM INDICATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOW, BUT THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS LOW. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITH BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I JUST PURCHASE THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 90 DAYS. THEY STATE THE AIR BAG WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE TECH STATES THE TSB PART IN THE PASSENGER SIDE IS OUT IN THE AIR BAG. I AM SURE THE DEALER KNEW OF THIS ISSUE WHEN THEY DID THE DIAGNOSTIC BEFORE THE CAR WAS SOLD TO ME. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE VEHICLE @ THEIR AND EXPENSE AND I AM OUT OF $541.00. I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUES NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS AND A RECALL DOWN DUE TO THE COMPLAINTS FOR AIR BAG ON FILE, AND MY MONEY IS REFUNDED BY THE MANUFACTURER . *TR

THE MILES FOR THE WARRANTY HAD NOT BEEN EXCEEDED BUT IT WAS 3 MONTHS OVER THE EXPIRATION DATE. THE CONSUMER FEELS THE REPAIRS SHOULD BE FULLY COVERED DUE TO THE FAILURE BEING A SAFETY DEFECT. THE SERVICE AIRBAGS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON FOR ABOUT 10,000 MILES NOW- IT IS ON AND OFF.. WE FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE DEALER - DEALER STATES THERE IS A TSB ABOUT IT BUT NO RECALL SO THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. WE HAVE STANDARD WARRANTY AND AN ADDITIONAL EXTENDED WARRANTY AND BOTH SAY AIRBAGS AND WIRING ARE NOT COVERED. MECHANIC AT DEALER STATES THAT ALL OF THEM HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING CONNECTOR AND IT IS A 10 MINUTE FIX, BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY 350.03 TO FIX. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE MADE A RECALL AS EVERYONE'S' SAFETY IS AT RISK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, I NOTICED THAT MY SERVICE STABILITRAK AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON. DURING THIS TIME, MY VEHICLE LOST POWER AND I BEGAN TO HEAR A SEVERE GRINDING NOISE IN MY LEFT FRONT WHEEL. AFTER GETTING TO WORK, THE VEHICLE SAT OVER NIGHT. WHEN I STARTED IT IN THE MORNING, I NOTICED THAT THE ABOVE MENTIONED LIGHTS HAD COME BACK ON AND THE GRINDING NOISE AND LOSS OF POWER HAD STARTED AGAIN. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK EARLIER, I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. THIS TRUCK IS ONLY 3.5 YRS OLD AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF OIL LEAKING OR BURNING. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE FALLING APART AFTER 3.5 YRS. THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL ISSUE IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. *JS
CHECK AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. CALLED DEALER FOR APT ( TOOK 10 DAYS TO GET APT!). DEALER QUOTED $781 FOR REPAIR. HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY - AIR BAGS NOT COVERED. IS SPECIAL ORDER PART, HAVE TO LEAVE CAR AT DEALER FOR 1 OR 2 DAYS FOR REPAIR. PROBLEM IS FAULTY CONTROL MODULE UNDER FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, AFFECTING ALL AIR BAGS. AT THE MOMENT, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS ARE OPERATIONAL. DEALER IS DEL GRANDE DEALER GROUP (CHEVY) IN SAN JOSE, CA. HAVE LODGED COMPLAINT WITH THEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND ENGINE CHAIN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
HAVE BEEN TOLD BY TWO TIRE STORES I NEED TO REPLACE MY TIRES AT 18000 MILES DUE TO CRACKING AND WEAR. THE TIRES ARE RATED FOR 65000 MILES. *TR
I WAS DOUBLE PARKED, WITH THE GEAR IN THE PARKING POSITION, TALKING TO MY COUSIN ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. WE TALKED FOR ABOUT ONE MINUTE. I WAS TRYING TO UNLOAD MY CAR TO TAKE SOME GROCERIES IN THE HOUSE. MY TRUNK WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE (DRIVERS SIDE) TWICE BUT THE TRUNK STILL WOULD NOT OPEN. THEN I WENT AROUND THE PASSENGERS SIDE WITH INTENTIONS ON TURNING THE CAR ON & TRYING TO UNLOCK THE DOORS THAT WAY, BUT AS SOON AS I OPENED THE DOOR, THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS WITH MY 12 MONTH OLD SON IN IT. THE CAR WAS IN PARK. I TRIED TO SWITCH GEARS (WHILE STILL ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE) BUT THE GEAR WAS STUCK. (ALL OF THIS WHILE RUNNING WITH THE CAR) MY COUSIN & I WERE HOLDING ON TO THE CAR AS BEST AS WE COULD TO TRY TO SLOW IT DOWN TO AVOID THE BABY BEING INJURED OR ROLLED COMPLETELY AWAY FROM US. THEN I THOUGHT TO JUST TRY TO GET THE BABY OUT WHILE SHE HELD ON TO THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN THE SPEED. AS I WAS TRYING TO UNSTRAP THE BABY'S SEATBELT, MY CAR SWIPED ANOTHER CAR, TEARING OFF THE MIRROR & CREATING SWIPE MARKS, CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS, THEN I MANAGED TO FREE MY BABY. AS SOON AS I GOT HIM OUT, THE CAR HIT A POLE, WHICH SLOWED DOWN THE SPEED, THEN A TRUCK WHICH STOPPED IT. I SUFFER MULTIPLE BRUISES TO MY RIGHT LEG AND WE BOTH SUFFER MUSCLE PAIN THROUGHOUT OUR BODIES. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED AT 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN UNEXPECTED INCREASE IN ACCELERATION. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,300 UPDATED 06/27/14*LJ
TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR WHEN STOPPING AFTER A LONG DRIVE. SO FAR TWO INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR FAILLED TO MOVE AFTER STOPPING AT A LIGHT AND AT A STOP SIGN AFTER DRIVING MORE THAN 50 MILES. DEALER CAN FIND NO PROBLEM WITH CAR.

ALL INDICATIONS FROM INTERNET SOURCES POINT TO A BAD THROTTLE BODY, WHICH WAS LATER CONFIRMED BY THE CAR DEALERSHIP. ACCORDING TO THE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PART, IT HAS A VERY HIGH FAILURE RATE IN THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, CHEVY REFUSES TO COVER THIS PART AS PART OF THEIR POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY. THE "POWER REDUCED" CONDITION CAUSED BY THIS PART FAILURE IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING TO HAVE HAPPEN TO YOU IF YOU ARE TURNING IN A BUSY INTERSECTION OR ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, AND IF SOMETHING IS NOT DONE, THERE WILL BE INJURIES OR FATALITIES BECAUSE OF IT. *TR

WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I GOT A WARNING THAT SAID SERVICE AIRBAGS. I BROUGHT MY CAR IN AND THEY FOUND OUT IT WAS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THEY RESET THE SENSOR AND IT NEVER CAME BACK AND SO THEY SAID IT WAS FINE. ABOUT A WEEK WENT BY AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN DISAPPEARED AGAIN. I CALLED AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD NEED IT FOR 3 DAYS AND IT COULD COST QUITE A LOT OF MONEY. WITH NO WARNING FROM MANUFACTURER OR DEALER AND THE RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGE AT EVERY 4 TO 5 THOUSAND MILES, THE OIL LEVEL IS GONE BY THE TIME THE OIL CHANGE IS DUE. THIS REPEATED ACTION CAUSES THE CAM POSITION SENSOR TO SLUDGE UP AND BECOME FAULTY. THIS IN TURN CAUSES THE MOTOR TO STALL. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE ENGINE STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY. BOTH THE GM REPRESENTATIVE AND THE CHEVY DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES AND ADMITTED THAT THEY HAVE NOT YET DETERMINED A DEFINITIVE CAUSE OR SOLUTION. AND WHILE GM COVERED $300 OF THE SECOND REPAIR, IT STILL COST US $100. WE ARE NOW OUT $300 IN REPAIRS SO FAR FOR THIS DEFECT WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. WE NO LONGER TRUST THIS CAR. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT STOPLIGHT AT 8PM THE CAR SHOOK AS I STARTED TO TURN LEFT AND THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON THEN LOW POWER ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2011 EQUINOX. THE CAR POWERED DOWN TO 2 MPH, IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE SO I TURNED INTO A PARKING LOT, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I CALLED ONSTAR AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO PHILLIPS CHEVROLET (GREAT SERVICE) IN FRANKFORT, IL. THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SO THE COST WAS $100.00 TO ME, WITHOUT THE WARRANTY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN $600.00 TO FIX. I ASKED IF HE HAS REPLACED MANY THROTTLE BODIES IN THIS MODEL CAR HE SAID QUITE A FEW. THE CAR WAS FIXED. I EMAILED CHEVROLET AND ASKED HOW MANY THROTTLE BODIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN ALL CARS, THEY SAID NO RECALLS ON THIS CAR. I WAS UNSATISFIED WITH THEIR ANSWER, THAT WAS NOT MY QUESTION. CHEVROLET CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT A PERSON WOULD CALL ME ABOUT MY CONCERN. THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME THE SAME STORY, NO RECALLS AND THE DEALER COULD HAVE BEEN LYING TO ME, WHICH MADE ME UPSET. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR AND HE TOLD THERE WERE NO RECORDS KEPT OF HOW MANY THROTTLE BODIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, WHICH I DO NOT BELIEVE. HE ALSO TOLD ME ABOUT A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM THAT CHEVY WOULD FIX ONLY IF MY CAR HAD A PROBLEM AND A CHAIN BELT PROBLEM THAT COULD A CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEM TO THE ENGINE IF THE CAR SHOWED SYMPTOMS. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THAT ANSWER EITHER. I WILL TAKE MY CAR IN FOR A CHAIN BELT AND FUEL PUMP CHECK NOW THAT I AM AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM. THE SUPERVISOR TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT YOUR AGENCY ABOUT MY CONCERN. I WOULD LIKE AN ANSWER TO MY ORIGINAL QUESTION, HOW MANY THROTTLE BODIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN CHEVROLET CARS? ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THIS WINTER, THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE MESSAGE "ENGINE POWERING DOWN" & "SERVICE STABILITRAK" WHILE I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH AT NIGHT ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR COMMUTES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, ENGINE SLOWS AND THE VEHICLE COMES TO A CRAWL WITHIN MINUTES - BARELY ENOUGH TIME TO FIND A PLACE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, ALL ELECTRICAL CEASED, AND EMERGENCY FLASHERS WOULD NOT WORK. ALLOWING THE VEHICLE A 5 MINUTE BREAK THEN RESTARTING (RESETTING THE COMPUTER) FIXES THE PROBLEM. I RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET, AND THERE ARE MANY EQUINOX OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS VERY THING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE EXHIBITED A LOUD, ABNORMAL NOISE AT START-UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP, TIMING CHAIN, ACTUATOR AND ENGINE OIL WAS CONTAMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,400.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, HAD AUTOZONE RUN ON COMPUTER, CAME BACK CODE P0011, FOUND RECALL ON CODE IN 2011(11195A), CAR IS DOING SAME THING AS RECALL STATED, I CALLED GM AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT PART OF RECALL, I EXPLAINED PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD NOT TELL IF PART WAS UNDER WARRANTY, ALL THEY SAID WAS TAKE TO DEALER. GM TOLD ME SO ES VINS WERE RECALLED, BUT NOT ALL, COULDN'T TELL ME WHY THIS ONE WAS NOT RECALLED EVEN THOUGH IT IS DOING SAME THING. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, MY VEHICLE TOOK A HARD SHARP RIGHT WHILE I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE. IF A CAR HAD BEEN BESIDE ME I WOULD OF CRASHED. I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE SO, I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE TIRES AND ALL WERE FINE. AS I GOT BACK ON THE INTERSTATE MY VEHICLE KEPT PULLING RIGHT. WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN TO MAKE A LEFT I COULD BARELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AFTER MUCH " MAN HANDLING" WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD AND 3 YEAR OLD IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. MY CHILDREN WERE CRYING. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY READ ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. I HOPE A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED SOON AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY ONE HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED THUS FAR. SO MY TRACTION CONTROL AN ABS LIGHT GOES OFF AN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED, AND IT APPEARS MY LEFT WHEEL SENSOR IS FAULTY AND CAN CAUSE LOCK UP IN BREAKS AND DECREASED POWER. TURNS OUT TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON ALL CHEVY EQUINOX MODELS.THERE HAVE BEEN VARIOUS COMPLAINTS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT AS I SEE THIS AS A MAJOR ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN,PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. *TR
