BEFORE RECALL ON WIPERS FOR CHEVY 2013 EQUINOX. HAD ISSUE WITH WIPES. FRONT WIPERS STOPPED WORKING DURING RAIN STORM WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. TOOK VEHICLE INTO CARMAX DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, MECHANICS FIXED ISSUE. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I RECIEVED LETTER ABOUT RECALL. SHORTLY AFTER WIPERS FAILED FOR A SECOND TIME AGAIN DURING RAIN STORM WHILE DRIVING. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD, THAT NO SOLUTION HAD BEEN APPROVED BY CHEVY AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS. ALSO IF THE REPAIRS THAT THEY SUGGESTED WERE NOT THE SAME AS THE ONE CHEVY APPROVES THEN I WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED. I DECLINED REPAIRS, AND TRIED CONTACTING CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE. AFTER MANY PHONE CALLS, BETWEEN CHEVY, CARMAX, AND LOCAL DEALERSHIP, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. CHEVY HAS SAID THAT I HAVE VOIDED RECALL BY HAVING CARMAX MECHANICS WORK ON IT. CARMAX TELLING ME THAT ITS CHEVY RESPONSIBILITY. THERE IS STILL NO APPROVED FIX FOR THIS RECALL, AND I STILL HAVE TO USE VEHICLE WITHOUT WIPERS IN FEAR THAT ANY REPAIR OR FIX WILL EITHER VOID THE RECALL OR WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED.
IN THE MIDDLE OF RAIN STORM...WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT WORK. THANKFULLY, MADE IT HOME. NEXT DAY.. REPLACED BALL JOINTS IN WIPER AT CHEVEY DEALER IN TIFFIN,OHIO. PAID $350.00 THIS HAPPENED IN AUGUST.HEARD ABOUT DEFECT ON NIGHTLY NEWS. RECEIVED RECALL LETTER IN SEPT. 2016. STATED WOULD RECEIVE ANOTHER LETTER. NEVER DID. CONTACTED CHEVY DEALER IN TIFFIN, OHIO, THEY HAVE NO FEED BACK. I CHECKED SAFERCAR.GOV TODAY. STATED NO REMEDY ISSUED. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE MY $350 BACK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CAMSHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAMSHAFT WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,823.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE IN DRIVE , LOOSING ALL POWER TO THROTTLE , POWER STEERING AND ALL OTHER COMPONENTS OF VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEGUN HAPPENING OVER THE LAST THREE DAYS AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR ONLY THREE MONTHS. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 39,000 MILES ON IT . TODAY WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SHUT OFF CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO FIGHT THE CARS STEERING TO SAFELY BRING IT TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE BREAKDOWN LANE. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND THEN RE INSERT KEY AND RE START THE VEHICLE.

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND WAS HIT TWICE FROM BEHIND. THE CHEMICAL FROM THE SIDE AIRBAG WAS RELEASED BUT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CHEMICAL WAS A FINE MIST OR LIGHT SMOKE. THE SEAT BELT LOCKED THE FIRST TIME I WAS HIT. I AM NOT SURE WHEN THE AIRBAG MIST OCCURRED (? WITH THE FIRST OR SECOND HIT) THEY HAPPENED WITHIN SECONDS OF EACH OTHER. A "SERVICE AIRBAG" WARNING LIGHT IS NOW ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE IS GOING IN FOR REPAIRS AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH AND THIS WILL BE ADDRESSED. I JUST WANTED TO REPORT THIS. I HAVE ALSO NOTIFIED CHEVROLET DIRECTLY.
WHILE DRIVING BOTH WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECAME INOPERATIVE LOWERING THE VISIBILITY TO ZERO. WITHOUT WIPERS I COULD NOT SAFELY DRIVE AND HAD THIS DEFECT REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY. SIMILAR TO OTHER COMPLAINTS, CHEVROLET DENIED REIMBURSEMENT FOR AN ALREADY PAID REPAIR.

EVERY TIME IT RAINS AND WATER GETS UNDER THE CAR MY AC GOES OUT. IT WILL COME BACK ON IN A DAY OR SO. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON OVER A YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP SEEMS TO NOT CARE.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED YEARS LONG RADIO UNIT COMPLICATIONS WITH MY CHEVY EQUINOX (2013) SINCE PURCHASED BRAND-NEW IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013. I HAVE PATIENTLY DONE EVERYTHING I HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO DO (BROUGHT IT IN-AND-OUT FOR SERVICE/REPAIRS, REPORTED IT TO GM, TALKED WITH SERVICE MANAGERS, HAD A TECHNICIAN BROUGHT IN, YOU NAME IT...). THE RADIO UNIT/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM KEEPS FAILING, SO TO SAY. THE RADIO SCREEN WILL BLACK OUT WHILE DRIVING, THE SCREEN WILL GO FUZZY LIKE AN OLD TUBE-TV, THE VOLUME WILL NOT ABLE TO BE TURNED UP OR DOWN FROM STEERING WHEEL OR RADIO UNIT, THE BACK-UP CAMERA SCREEN CUTS OUT WHILE BACKING UP OR STAYS IN BACKUP MOVE WHILE DRIVING FORWARD, AND THE LIST GOES ON. THE INTERRUPTIONS ARE DANGEROUS AND DISTRACTING, TO SAY THE LEAST. HERE I AM ALMOST THREE YEARS INTO IT (THE PROBLEMS STARTED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE) TWO DRAINED BATTERIES, TONS OF SERVICE VISITS, A NEW RADIO UNIT, AND COUNTLESS HOURS WASTED WITH NOTHING TO SHOW BUT CONTINUED INTERRUPTION IN THE FUNCTION OF MY CAR RADIO UNIT. I EVEN BEGAN CATCHING THE INTERRUPTIONS ON VIDEO ON MY PHONE AND PROVIDING THEM TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. THEY HAVE AMPLE EVIDENCE OF THE PROBLEMS REPORTED (ALTHOUGH THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT SO THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE).

FIRE STARTED WHILE CAR WAS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY. FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID IT WAS A ELECTRICAL FIRE THAT STARTED NEAR THE FUSE BOX. FIRE BURNED THROUGH FIREWALL AND CONTINUED UP THE CEILING CONSOLE. THIS CAR IS USUALLY PARKED IN MY GARAGE, WITH MY BEDROOM RIGHT ABOVE. FIRE STARTED AROUND 12:30AM.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY AT 60MPH IN POURING RAIN. I HEARD A LOUD BAM UNDER MY HOOD AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALMOST FLEW OFF THE CAR. THEY WERE HANGING OFF ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I WAS NOT FAR FROM AN OVERPASS SO DROVE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO IT TO WAIT FOR IT SLOW DOWN BUT ENDED UP HAVING TO DRIVE TO THE NEAREST ADVANCE AUTO IN HOPES OF REPAIR. THIS WAS SO DANGEROUS. I WAS ON A 70MPH EXPRESSWAY DURING EVENING RUSH HOUR IN POURING RAIN. I HAD MY SON WITH ME. WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WINDSHIELD WIPERS SERVE A VERY IMPORTANT PURPOSE AND SHOULD NEVER BE INSTALLED WITH PLASTIC. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN EPIDEMIC WITH THE YEAR, MAKE & MODEL OF THE VEHICLE HAPPENING ON MANY OF THEM AT THE SAME TIME. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

THIS IS A VERY HAZARDOUS MALFUNCTION, AND I CAN SEE THAT IT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS AS WELL. IT ALSO HAPPENED TO MY 2010 EQUINOX WHICH WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY IN 2012. MY MILEAGE WAS 51861. I AM AFRAID SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SEVERELY HURT , OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS FAULT.

MY ENGINE CUT OFF TWICE WHILE DRIVING IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A CAR WITH LESS THAN 50K MILES ON IT. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK TO HAVE PIECE OF MIND ONLY TO FIND OUT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THIS MODEL. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
I WAS DRIVING ON I-495 IN MA ON A RAINY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. WHEN MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED TO MY LEFT ON THE WINDSHIELD. I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR TRYING TO MOVE THE WIPERS TO NO AVAIL. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND MOVED THE WIPERS INTO THE DOWN POSITION. WHEN I RE-ENTERED MY VEHICLE, I TURNED ON THE ENGINE AND THEN TURNED ON THE WIPERS. NO GOOD. IN BETWEEN RAIN STORMS I DROVE TO A REST STOP ON I-90 (MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE) IN MA WHERE I REMAINED FOR 2 HOURS DURING HEAVY DOWNPOURS. I CALLED AAA BUT THEY REFERRED ME TO STATE TROOPERS SINCE AAA IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE TURNPIKE. INSTEAD OF BOTHERING THE TROOPERS, I DROVE AS FAR AS I COULD IN BETWEEN RAIN STORMS WHICH GOT ME TO CT, WHERE I STAYED OVERNIGHT AT A HOTEL. MY HOME IS IN ANOTHER STATE. WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP, THEY HAD TO KEEP THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE WIPER TRANSMISSION CONKED OUT. IT WAS COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, HOWEVER, I WONDER WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO BULLETINS OR RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE. DURING INTERNET SEARCHES INCLUDING ON THIS WEBSITE, I FOUND MULTIPLE INCIDENCES OF THIS TYPE. UNTIL I STARTED RESEARCHING, I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST AN ELECTRICAL GLITCH. NOW I REALIZE IT'S A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. THANK GOD, I HAVEN'T HAD A MAJOR COLLISION, MY AIRBAGS MIGHT NOT DEPLOY. THIS YEAR MODEL SHOULD DEFINITELY BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. MY CAR NOW HAS 95,000 MILES ON IT. I DON'T EVEN FEEL COMFORTABLE SELLING THIS CAR WITH THESE ISSUES.
