PCV (PRESSURIZED CRANK CASE VENTILATION) SYSTEM FROZE DUE TO COLD CLIMATE AND POOR DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM.THIS ISSUE CAUSED THE REAR MAIN SEAL OF THE MOTOR TO OVER PRESSURIZE WHICH LED TO FAILURE OF THE SEAL CAUSING THE MOTOR TO LOSE OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT TIME OF THE FAILURE ON A CITY STREET . THE MOTOR IN MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY GENERAL MOTORS,BUT ALL OTHER 2.4L MOTORS OF THIS TYPE ARE UNDER SOME KIND OF COVERAGE FOR THE PCV SYSTEM FAILURE BY GM. THE DEFECT WITH THIS MOTOR IS WIDE SPREAD AND GM IS DOING NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE MOTOR IS DESIGNED IN A WAY AS TO IF THE REAR MAIN SEAL IS COMPROMISED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WORK MUST BE DONE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. LIKE REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION AND INTAKE MANIFOLD FROM VEHICLE. THIS ADDING UP TO A LARGE REPAIR BILL FOR THE CONSUMER FOR A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY GM.
JANUARY 22ND 2019 MY WAY TO WORK AT THE LAST TRAFFIC LIGHT THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE I PULLED IN WORK AND PARKED I LEFT AT 5:30 P.M REMOTE STARTED I WAS WALKING TO MY CAR IT WAS LOUD I GOT IN WARNING MESSAGE TO TURN CAR OFF THAT THE OIL PRESSURE WAS TOO LOW. CALLED AAA WAITED THREE HOURS IN THE COLD WITH BRONCHITIS AND ASTHMA CALLED MY MECHANIC I WAS HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO HIS GARAGE. JANUARY 25 MECHANIC SAID HE THINKS DUE TO A FROZEN PCV VALVE THERE WAS PRESSURE BUILD UP CAR SPIT THE OIL OUT HE PUT OIL IN MY CAR LET IT WARM UP HE THOUGHT I SHOULD STILL HAVE THE DEALER LOOK AT IT. I DROVE THE CAR NOT FAR TO THE DEALER GANLEY REP CAME TO WAITING AREA TOLD ME THE PCV VALVE FROZE AND THE HIGH PRESSURE BLEW MY REAR CRANKSHAFT SEAL THE OIL SPILLED OUT MY BATTERY WAS SHOT REPAIR JUST UNDER $ 2000.00 HE SAID THIS FAULT DID DAMAGE TO MY TIMING CHAIN NO GUARANTEE HOW LONG THE TIMING CHAIN WOULD HOLD RECOMMENDED REPLACING $ 1500.00 I SAID DO THE SEAL AND BATTERY. I WENT HOME DID GOOGLE SEARCH EQUINOX 2013 PCV SP. COV. BULLETIN 14882 POPPED UP IT COVERED EQUINOXES BETWEEN 2010-2014 NOT MY VIN. REP CALLED SAID GM IS WILLING TO HELP ME WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AUTHORIZED IT FOR $500.00. I TOLD HIM WHAT THAT BULLETIN SAID IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY CAR. PICKED UP MY CAR MONDAY 02/04/19 AND PAID $ 2606.76. ON 02/06/19 I CALLED CHEVY SPOKE TO REP DUKE WHO GAVE ME A REFERENCE NUMBER # 9-5037906721 TOLD ME A HIGHER-LEVEL REP FROM CHEVY WOULD CALL ME. ON 02/07/19 ADAM CALLED AND SAID THE PHONE CALL WAS BEING RECORDED. HE SAID IN A NICE WAY THAT CHEVY HAD ALREADY HELPED WITH $ 1000.00 TOWARDS THE TIMING CHAIN AND I SHOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR THAT BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT GOING TO HELP ANYMORE. I TOLD HIM THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED. IS THIS VERBATIM FOR THE CALL NO BUT THEN AGAIN, I WASN'T WORKING OFF A SCRIPT OR RECORDING THE PHONE CALL LIKE CHEVY IS.
DUE TO A FROZEN PCV SYSTEM AND THE HIGH PRESSURE, MY REAR CRANKSHAFT SEAL STARTED TO LEAK OIL. MY CAR IS INOPERABLE AT THIS TIME. MY CAR IS ALSO EATING AWAY OIL WHERE I WOULD HAVE TO GET FREQUENT OIL CHANGES.
JAN 21'ST, 2019 MY CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. PVC FROZE UP IN AIR INTAKE AND THE ORIFICE IN MY INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS BLOCKED. BLEW REAR MAIN SEAL AND LOST ALL THE OIL IN THE CAR. TIMING CHAIN SKIPPED WHEN NO OIL PRESSURE WAS PRESENT TO KEEP TIMING CHAIN TIGHT. SERVICE BULLETIN 14882. GM SAYS MY VIN IS NOT COVERED. I HAVE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF PROOF OF ISSUE. I AM FROM CANADA, SO I USED A GHOST STATE AND POSTAL TO GET THIS COMPLAINT POSTED. I LIVE IN SMITHVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA. BRING GM TO COME GOOD FOR ALL THIS.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX IN SINGLE DIGIT TEMPERATURES, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WITHIN TWO MILES, THE CAR STALLED. IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CAUSE WAS A DEFECTIVE PCV SYSTEM THAT GM HAS DOCUMENTED IN SERVICE BULLETIN 14882 DATED MARCH 2015. DURING COLD WEATHER OPERATION, CONDENSATION FREEZES AND PLUGS THE PCV (POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION) SYSTEM. THIS CONDITION CAUSES AN IMMEDIATE INCREASE IN THE CRANKCASE PRESSURE AND BLOWS OUT THE REAR SEAL. ONCE THE REAR SEAL IS LOST, OIL IMMEDIATELY PURGES OUT OF THE ENGINE. THIS KNOWN DESIGN FLAW CAUSED $8,500 IN DAMAGES. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE, INTAKE MANIFOLD, SEALS ON THE INJECTOR RAIL, SPARK PLUGS, FLEX PLATE, BALANCER, THERMOSTAT HOUSING AND TUBE ASSEMBLY. THIS 5.5 YEAR OLD CAR ONLY HAD 54,500 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURRED. IT ALSO LEFT THE DRIVER STRANDED IN SUBZERO WIND CHILL TEMPERATURES.
THE PVC VALVE FROZE CAUSING THE REAR MAIN SEAL TO BLOW. THIS HAS NOW CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE TOTAL COST FROM THE DEALER IS QUOTED AT $7200.00. THIS VEHICLE ALSO USED LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE CHEVY ONLY HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT.
I USE EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL AND NOW MY MOTOR IS ACTING UP I HAVE TO PUT TWO QUARTS IN A WEEK AND WAS NOT TOLD AT PURCHASE I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE JANUARY OF 2019 I'M UNDER THE 120 000 MILES THIS I NOTICED ABOUT 2WEEKS I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE IN THE SAME WEEK I BOUGHT IT CAUSE OF ISSUES AND IT WAS A 2000 REPAIR AFTER I ALREADY PAID 13,000 FOR IT. I LOVE THE VEHICLE BUT MY MOTOR IS KNOCKS AND IT'S GETTING WORSE
VEHICLE STOPPED UNEXPECTEDLY NO SYSTEM WARNING AND THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE MECHANIC SAYS THE STEEL SHAVINGS WERE GOING INTO HEAD GASKET FROM OVER OIL COMSUPTION.
MY VEHICLE STALLED AT SLOW SPEEDS. WHEN GAS PEDAL PRESSED THE VEHICLE WOULD ROCK BACK AND FORTH THEN DIE. VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. A YEAR AGO MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES AND THE PISTONS AND RINGS WERE CHANGED. NOW THE 'I TAKE CAMSHAFT SOLENOID' IS AFFECTED POSSIBLY CAUSING THE CURRENT ISSUE. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE SAME VEHICLES. WHY WOULD SOMETHING LIKE THIS NOT BE A RECALL?? IT HAPPENED LAST YEAR AS WELL AND WAS TOLD THAT BY CHANGING THE PISTONS AND RINGS THAT THAT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT DIDN'T.
THIS VEHICLE IS BURNING OIL EXCESSIVELY. FOR EVERY 1000 MILES ITS BURNING 2 QTS. OF OIL. GENERAL MOTORS IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE ON OTHER MODEL YEARS BUT FOR SOME REASON WONT ACKNOWLEDGE IT ON THIS ONE. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE OTHERS.
THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. IT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO RUN LOW ON OIL AT ABOUT 30% OIL LIFE LEFT, AND THE ENGINE SHUDDERS AND SHAKES. THIS CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH OTHER PARTS AND CAUSE THEM TO FAIL AS WELL.
AT 87000 MILES THE ENGINE HAD TIMING ISSUE AND VALVES MAD PISTON CONTACT. AT 90000 MILES ENGINE HAD PCV VALVE FREEZE UP AND PUSH MAIN SEAL OUT OF ENGINE. BOTH ARE KNOWN RECALL ISSUES BUT ACCORDING TO CHEVY MY VIN ISN'T INCLUDED IN THESE RECALLS. THE ENGINE IS NOW USING 2 QUARTS PER THOUSAND MILES. I HAVE SPOKE WITH CHEVY REPS AND BEEN TOLD TO BASICALLY PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE. I DON'T FEEL THIS IS RIGHT SINCE THESE ARE ALL KNOWN FAULTS AND THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL LAWSUITS OVER THE ISSUES. I HAVE PAID OVER 5000 DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS ON A ENGINE THAT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 100,000 MILES. I HAVE WORKED IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY FOR OVER 15 YEARS AND I KNOW THERE ARE THINGS THAT DEALERS CAN DO TO MAKE THIS RIGHT WITH THE CUSTOMER. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW I AM SUPPOSED TO TRUST THIS ENGINE WITH MY FAMILIES SAFETY, THE VEHICLE WILL EITHER STALL OUT AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR HAVE A OIL FIRE UNDER THE HOOD.

I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICHILE ENGINE OIL PRESURE DROP JUST GOT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY LUCKY MY ENGINE DIDNT BLOW OUT WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. NO EGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON THE OIL FILTER WAS CRUSHED. THESE ENGINES ARE DEFECTIVE AND DANDERIOUS NO WARNING PRIOR TO CASTERAPHIC ENGINE FAILURE DO TO MANUFACTURE DEFECT ALMOST 4 MONTHS AFTER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED. VEHICLE IN MOTION JUST PULLED OFF OF HIGHWAY ,TO OFF RAMP GOING ONTO CITY STREET MAIN ENGINE SEAL FOUND DEFECTIVE BY MECHANIC I HAVE THE PART AND PROOF.
THE HOOD OPEN SENSOR KEEPS GOING OFF AND I . NOTICED WHEN ITS BEEPING IT INTERRUPTS THE TURN SIGNAL. I DON'T KNOW IF IT AFFECTS THE OUTSIDE TURN .OR NOT. THIS ALARM GOES OFF EVEN WHEN CAR IS SHUT OFF AND DRAINS THE BATTERY
MY 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WITH 90,000 MILES WHICH IS A COUPLE MONTHS OUT OF POWERTRAIN WARRANTY HAS BEEN EATING OIL. I DISCOVERED THIS WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN AFTER IT BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED BECAUSE I RECENTLY GOT AN OIL CHANGE. THIS PLACE GAVE ME AN OIL CHANGE AND ONE MONTH LATER MY EQUINOX STARTED SHAKING AGAIN AND IS OUT OF OIL. AND LIKE OTHERS THE ENGINE NEVER TURNED ON! I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME I NEED REPAIRS COSTING $3500 TO GET NEW PISTONS/RINGS AMONG OTHER THINGS. WHILE THERE I TALK TO THE LADY NEXT TO ME. SHE HAS THE SAME VEHICLE SAME YEAR AND THE SAME PROBLEM. I LOOK AT CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND THEY SAY THE #1 PROBLEM WITH THE MODEL IS THIS. THE CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2013 MODEL YEAR IS RATED THE WORST YEAR FOR EQUINOX BECAUSE OF REPAIR COSTS. THE DEALERSHIP SOLUTION: BRING THE VEHICLE IN EVERY 1000 MILES TO GET MORE OIL. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN ONE? THE CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FIT THE BILL FOR $3400 FOR SOMETHING THE MANUFACTURER IS AT FAULT FOR. I PERSONALLY DO NOT SEE HOW I CAN BRING THE VEHICLE IN THAT OFTEN AS I DRIVE 60 MILES A DAY TO AND FROM WORK. ANY ASSISTANCE I CAN GET WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I AM STILL PAYING ON THIS VEHICLE!
DECEMBER 18, 2018 I PURCHASED A 2013 EQUINOX FOLLOWING LEASING THE VEHICLE FOR A YEAR. OVER THE YEARS IT HAS CONSUMED OIL MORE THAN EXPECTED; HOWEVER, IT NOW BURNS APPROXIMATELY 3 QTS OF OIL EVERY 2K MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED MULTIPLE CHEVY DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA AND THEY HAVE ALL TOLD ME I WOULD NEED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR AN 'OIL CONSUMPTION TEST' WHICH I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR. ANY REPAIRS REQUIRED FOLLOWING THE TEST WOULD ALSO BE AT MY EXPENSE. AFTER READING ALL OF THE REVIEWS AND COMMENTS I NOW BELIEVE CHEVROLET KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. I DO NOT PLAN PURCHASING A CHEVY OR GMC VEHICLE AGAIN.
"TAKATA RECALL" MY 2013 IS HAVING PROBLEM WITH EXHAUST SYSTEM FROM CONVERTER BACK WHICH THE SMELL IS BACKING UP INTO THE INSIDE CABIN OF VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS MUST BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES (EQUINOX). I HAVE RELATIVES THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2010''S. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE VEHICLE STARTED SOUNDING LOUD WHEN PARKED AND WHEN TAKING OFF NO SPEED, COMPARED TO WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLE....REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND NO MAJOR WORK NEEDED DONE SINCE MY PURCHASE.
600 MILE TRIP FOR CHRISTMAS. CAR WOULD IDLE ROUGH AT STOPS AND STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AS STARTING OUT. THE ROOT CAUSE IS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ON THIS DIRECT FUEL INJECTION GM 2.4 LITER ENGINE. GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAS PUT OUT A TSB EXTENDING THE WARRANTY FOR 2011-2012 MODELS WITH THIS PROBLEM, BUT ARE MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR CONSUMERS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS WARRANTY WORK. THE INTERNET CAR FORUMS ARE FULL OF CONSUMERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS DEFECT AND GM'S LACK OF CONCERN IN ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. I HOPE IT DOESN'T TAKE SOMEONE BEING KILLED BEFORE THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. THE ENGINE DEFECT IS KNOWN TO EFFECT A PERCENTAGE OF CHEVY EQUINOXES, GM TERRAINS AND SEVERAL OTHER GM MODELS FROM THE 2010THROUGH 2017 MODEL YEARS. THE HEAT/AC WILL RANDOMLY STOP WORKING THEREFORE WHEN YOU NEED TO DEFROST WINDOWS NOTHING WILL BLOW AT TIMES.
THE ROCKER PANELS, DOORS AND TAILGATE ARE HEAVILY CORRODING AND THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF IN LARGE STRIPS.
ONE WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY WITH NO WARNING. THE OTHER WIPER IS WORKING CORRECTLY. IT STARTED DOING IT AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED OVERNIGHT.
HVAC BUTTONS BECAME INOP. THEREFORE, NO DEFROST. VERY DANGEROUS. NO HEAT. NO A/C. NO REAR DEFROST. BACKLIGHT BUTTONS YES ARE ILLUMINATED. I REPLACED TWO FUSES, NO CHANGE. I REPLACED THE HVAC BLOWER MOTOR RESISTER, NO CHANGE. NO DEFROST IS VERY DANGEROUS ON MY 2013 CHEVY EQUINOX LT 4 CYL 2.4L. THE BATTERY IS 10 MONTHS OLD. I DISCONNECTED THE ENTIRE BATTERY FOR 15 MINUTES. NO LUCK. YES THE ENTIRE RADIO WORKS FINE. AUDIO IS GOOD. HOWEVER, THE POPUP ON THE RADIO SCREEN WHICH REFLECTS THE FAN SPEED MOTOR CHANGES IS NOT SHOWING UP WHEN I ADJUST THE FAN SPEED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRIENDLY AUTO SALES (5800 S ZARZAMORA ST, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78211, (210) 927-4300) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BAROMETRIC PRESSURE SENSOR, INTAKE AIR HUMIDITY SENSOR, SENSOR REFERENCE VOLTAGE A, INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW P11C2 , MASK OR VOLUME AIR FLOW A, INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR TWO CIRCUIT LOW P0097, 90113 INTAKE AIR ONE CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, AND P11C2 INTAKE AIR HUMIDITY SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW VOLTAGE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,986.
I HAVE A 2013 CHEVY EQUINOX I HAVE ALREADY CHANGED THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR. A YEAR LATER MY CAR STARTED TO CUT OFF WHILE IDLE AT STOP LIGHTS. I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND WAS TOLD FROM THE TEST IT WAS MY CAMSHAFT SENSOR. WHILE CHANGING IT I NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL IN THE SENSOR AREA. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IS NOT GOOD. FROM THIS WE DISCOVERED THE SENSOR IS NOT THE ISSUE. I STARTED TO DO RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND MANY USER FROM 2011 TO 2013 WHO ARE ALL HAVING THIS ISSUE WORD FOR WORD. JUST AS EVERYONE ELSE HAS STATED, MY 2013 EQUINOX IS BURNING OIL AND STALLS AT SLOW SPEEDS OR A STOP. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TOWARDS THE END OF MY 5 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND THEY KEPT "FIXING THINGS". THE MOST RECENT FIX WAS ONE MONTH AFTER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED, AND THE REPAIRS WERE CLOSE TO $4,000. THIS REPAIR INVOLVED REPLACING PISTONS/RINGS AND REPLACING THE TIMING CHAIN. THE VERY NEXT DAY FOLLOWING THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR, I DROVE IT TO WORK AND IT STALLED 14 TIMES, DUE TO SLOWING/STOPPING OF RUSH-HOUR. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, BECAUSE OTHER DRIVERS ASSUMED I WAS "MOVING WITH THE FLOW" AND THEY DON'T STOP. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP... THEY HAVE MY CAR NOW AND SAID THEY WILL LOOK AT IT AND "TRY SOMETHING ELSE". OVER SEVERAL FEW MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS, THEY DID THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, RESET THE TIMING CHAIN, AND A BUNCH OF OTHER THINGS (IT WAS STILL UNDER THE 5-YR EXTENDED WARRANTY THEN). I ASKED WHY THERE WAS NO RECALL?, AND THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE NONE OF THIS WAS SAFETY-RELATED. HOW IS THIS NOT SAFETY ISSUE?! AS I MENTIONED, THEY CURRENTLY HAVE MY VEHICLE, AND I FEAR WHAT THE REPAIRS WILL BE FOR ANOTHER ATTEMPT AS SOLVING THE PROBLEM. I FEEL LIKE THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING THEIR BEST, BUT PERHAPS THEIR HANDS ARE TIED. IF THE NHTSA DETERMINES THIS NOT TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE, THEN IT CERTAINLY SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FRAUD ON BEHALF OF CHEVY CORPORATION.
OIL INDICATOR AND SCREEN FLASHED MESSAGE TO SOP CAR IMMEDIATELY. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND FORCED TO TRY TO GET TO THE BERM. I HAD TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND WALK TO THE STORE FROM THE FREEWAY TO PURCHASE OIL. A NEW OIL CHANGE HAD JUST BEEN PERFORMED 2000 MILES BEFORE SO THE CAR WASN'T DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE YET. THIS CAR HAS THE ECOTEC 2.4 LITER ENGINE AND IS CONSUMING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE. IT CONSUMED 3.5 QUARTS WITHIN 2000 MILES. THIS COULD RESULT IN SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE ON THE FREEWAY OR ELSEWHERE.
ON OCT. 23, 2018, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE MORNING. CALLED ONSTAR IN AFTERNOON FOR CODE;ONSTAR DID NOT PROVIDE CODE BUT SAID IT SHOULD BE SERVICED ASAP AND MADE APPOINTMENT AT NEARBY DEALERSHIP FOR NEXT MORNING. THAT EVENING WHEN BRAKING TO LEAVE A PARKING AREA, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED/STALLED OUT. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED SOLENOID SENSOR.
MY VEHIVLE HAS BEEN SHUTTING OFF RANDOMLY. I CAME TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION TODAY AND I HIT THE GAS BECAUSE MY LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND MY VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. I HAD CARS BEHIND ME. THE LIGHT IS TURNING RED, SO I HAVE THE OPPOSITE LANES TRAFFIC GETTING READY TO GO, AND THERE I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE. LUCKILYI WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN AND GET OUT OF THE ONCOMING TRAFFICS WAY. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN RANDOMLY DOING THIS FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS NOW AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON YESTERDAY. I HAD IT CHECKED AND CODES P0010 AND P0011 CAME UP. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I CAME ACROSS OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. A LOT OF PEOPLE! HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED? ESOECIALLY WHEN IT PUTS THE DRIVER AND ANY PASSENGERS IN HARMS WAY. I HAVE MY KIDS AFRAID TO RIDE IN THE CAR BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN AND WE WILL GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CHEVY'S TIMING BELT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE FOR GM AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. THEY KEEP BLAMING IT ON OIL CONSUMPTION.
MY 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX STARTED CONSUMING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL. MY CAR WAS AT THE RANDY REED GM DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX REPORTED REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I WAS ADVISED THAT I WOULD NEED TO HAVE MY VEHICLE UNDERGO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT 1000 AND 2000 MILE INCREMENTS BEFORE GM WOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR BACK AT THE 2000 CHECK, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS USING OIL. IT WAS 3 QUARTS LOW. I WAS THEN ADVISED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT ONLY THE 2012 EQUINOX MODEL WAS COVERED FOR THIS PROBLEM. GM PAID FOR THE SAME REPAIR ON THE 2012 MODEL BUT HAS NOT ISSUED ANY SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCE FOR THE 2013 ALTHOUGH THEY ARE AWARE THAT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES ON THE 2013 MODEL. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING THE PARTS DUE TO THE NUMBER OF DEFECTIVE PARTS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. I SPOKE WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS ADVISED ALTHOUGH SHE "SYMPATHIZED WITH ME" GM WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR. IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE VEHICLES BUT GM IS CHOOSING TO IGNORE THE OTHER MODEL YEARS. THE VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE TO USE OIL AT AN EXCESSIVE RATE AND IS SUBJECT TO CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FAIL OR CATCH FIRE IF THE REPAIR IS NOT PERFORMED.

I HIT A DEER ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. AFTER I HIT IT I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND MY CAR FILLED WITH DUST COMING FROM THE DASH WERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG WAS ACTIVATED BUT DID NOT DEPLOY. WHICH NOW CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO BE TOTALED. I HAVE ATTACHED PICTURE OF THE AIRBAG SHOWING IT DID NOT DEPLOY AND A PICTURE OF THE DAMAGE THAT WAS DONE TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR.

I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL VECHICALS THAT WERE THE SAME MODEL / MAKE AS MINES WAITING TO BE SERVICED. ALSO SERVERAL OF MY RELATIVES WHO HAS THE SAME CAR AS MINE HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIPS ALL ACROSS TOWN ARE OUT OF LOANER CARS AND CAN'T GET TO MINE UNTIL NEXT WEEK. 3 PEOPLE I KNOW TOOK THEIR VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED AND EACH WERE TOLD THEY NEEDED A TUNE UP. AFTER RECEIVING THE TUNE UP THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINED. ALL OF OUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ARE ON.
VEHICLE TIMING CHAIN BROKE 3 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAD 57,000 MILES ON THE CAR. CHEVROLET REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM OR PAY FOR ANY REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE (INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING) COMPLETELY STALLED OUT WHILE I WAS TURNING OFF A BUSY STATE HIGHWAY ON A HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I WAS STRANDED IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC UNTIL I WAS SAFELY ABLE TO GET A COUPLE OF GOOD SAMARITANS TO ASSIST WITH PHYSICALLY PUSHING IT OFF THE ROAD.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AT AROUND 135,000 MILES. FOLLOWING THAT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN LOSING POWER, THE RPMS STARTED TO RANDOMLY SPIKE UP, AND IT BEGAN CONSUMING A LOT OF OIL. WHEN IDLING OR COMING TO A TOP THE VEHICLE WILL TURN OFF OR BEGIN SHAKING REALLY BAD AND THEN TURN OFF. I HAVE CONTACTED THE CHEVY DEALER AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO ABOUT IT.
I PURCHED A 2013 CHEVY EQUINOX BRAND NEW. TWO YEARS AFTER HAVING IT THE CENTER CONSOLE FOR MY RADIO AND HEAT/AIR CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIXED IT. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A MODULE SWITCH. THEN IN APRIL 2017 IT DID IT AGAIN! TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE AIR HVAC. THEN AUGUST 2018 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I AM TOLD IT IS THE RADIO HVAC AND THAT NOW IT IS NOT COVERED ON WARRANTY AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY $650 TO HAVE IT FIXED. I BELIEVE THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM FROM THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND JUST KEEP GETTING TOLD SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERYTIME. WENT TO MY MECHANIC AND IT READ P0011 INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING CODE. ON 8/16/18 WHEN MECHANIC CHANGED PART REALIZED THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK.NO OIL LIGHT CAME ON FOR NOT HAVING ANY OIL. CAR HAS 52K MILES ON IT AND THE OIL WAS CHANGED THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. WHERE DID ALL THE OIL GO IN LESS THEN 3K MILES. I AN NOW READING THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE AND WILL HAVE TO CARRY A CASE OF OIL TO CHECK EVERY WEEK NOW. IF GM KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE WHY HAVEN'T THEY DONE ANYTHING TO CORRECT THIS..
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BURNING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE - I HAVE TO ADD A QUART OF OIL EVERY FEW HUNDRED MILES, ON TOP OF BEING DILIGENT ABOUT CHANGING MY OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES (FULLY SYNTHETIC TOO). WHEN I DO NOT ADD A QUART OF OIL EVERY 10 DAYS OR SO, MY CAR STALLS WHILE IDLING, KNOCKS, AND/OR RIDES "ROUGH". I'VE ALSO NOTICED THE ENGINE IDLES LOWER THAN NORMAL. IF I PRESS ON THE GAS LIGHTLY, THE CAR WILL STALL. IF I PRESS ON THE GAS WITH MORE PRESSURE, THE CAR WILL SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR EARLIER THAN NORMAL AND ROUGHLY (IF THAT MAKES SENSE). I'VE HAD THE CAR INTO THE MECHANIC 4 TIMES FOR SAME ISSUE.
82K MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND AM HAVING TO PUT 2-3 QUARTS OF OIL IN CAR BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS COMING ON EVERY FEW HUNDRED MILES NOW AND THE OIL DIPSTICK IS DRY. I FILL UP WITH APPROXIMATELY 2 QUARTS AND THE ENGINE IS FINE UNTIL ANOTHER 200-300 MILES WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN AND THE DIPSTICK IS DRY AGAIN. HAD THIS ISSUE LAST YEAR IN MAY IN TX AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE GASKET WAS BAD AND THEY REPLACED THAT. CAR RAN FINE FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND NOW I CAN NOT GO OVER 1000 MILES WITHOUT PUTTING IN QUARTS OF OIL.

SPECIFICALLY, THE CAR WOULD OCCASIONALLY STARTS UP IN "STALL MODE", THAT ITS RPM WOULD BE LOWER THAN NORMAL (~500RPM VS ~1000 NORMALLY); IN SUCH STALL MODE, THE ENGINE AND ENTIRE CAR WOULD SHAKE SIGNIFICANTLY ON IDLE/STOPPED-WITH-BRAKE, AND WOULD 100% STALL BY LETTING GO OF BRAKE PEDAL WITHOUT STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL; IF GAS PEDAL IS STEPPED ON BUT NOT ENOUGH, ENGINE WOULD STALL, OTHERWISE, IF GAS PEDAL IS STEPPED ON HARD ENOUGH, THE CAR CAN CHANGE FROM 1ST GEAR INTO 2ND IN A VERY ROUGH MANNER, YOU CAN FEEL IT PHYSICALLY SITTING IN THE CAR, THEN THE CAR WOULD PERFORM NORMALLY AS LONG AS CAR STAY ABOVE 2ND GEAR WITH ENOUGH RPM. CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY INTERSECTION / CROSSROAD LEFT TURNING.

IMMEDIATELY UPON STARTING THE CAR THE CABIN IS FILLED WITH EXHAUST FUMES WHILE IN PARK. THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED AS IN MANY OTHER 2010-2016 CHEVY EQUINOX. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE ON THESE VEHICLES, AS CARBON MONOXIDE IS BEING PUMPED INTO THE CABIN.
MY CAR IS BURNING OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. I AM NOT AWARE OF IT UNTIL MY CAR STARTS TO RATTLE. A MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY CAR HAS "EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION". I HAVE TO PUT 2-4 QUARTS OF OIL IN MY CAR BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THIS IS NOTICEABLE DURING THE ACCELERATION PERIOD. THE SAFETY RISK IS THIS MAY DESTROY MY ENGINE COSTING ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR.

SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON AND STILL THE SMELL OF AIRBAGS IN THE CAR. NOW UNABLE TO BUCKLE UP, AND CANT REACH THE PEDALS BECAUSE MY SEAT WONT MOVE BECAUSE THE SEATBELT IS LOCKED. ON HIGHWAY, IN MOTION ABOUT 62 MPH
I'M HAVING TO ADD OIL EVERY WEEK. GOING THROUGH A QUART EVERY 200 TO 300 MILES. I LOOKED FOR SOME KIND OF RECAL AND NO LUCK. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON OIL CONSUMPTION.
