WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED WORKING DURING A RAIN STORM WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE. LINKAGE CAME APART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED OPERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. SERRA CHEVROLET (1170 CENTER POINT PKWY, BIRMINGHAM, AL) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AT 55MPH. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SWIPED LEFT AND STOPPED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT WAS RAINING HEAVILY AND I ALMOST WRECKED IN ORDER TO MOVE OVER TO A SIDE STREET TO STOP DRIVING. I HAD NO VISIBILITY RESULTING IN A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THE WIPERS DO NOT FUNCTION AND WILL NEED REPAIRS. I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED DUE TO SAFETY ON THE ROAD!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH AND APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION, THE STEERING SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO OURISMAN CHEVROLET OF BALTIMORE (6633 SECURITY BLVD, BALTIMORE, MD 21207, (410) 265-7777) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION VALVE WAS COLLECTING MOISTURE, WHICH FROZE AND BLEW OUT THE MAIN SEAL. ALSO, THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FRACTURED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
CHEVY EQUINOX 2014 ENGINE DIED WHEN IDLING OR AT A STOP. HAPPENED FREQUENTLY WHILE IN SLOW TRAFFIC. HAPPENED WHEN MAKING LEFT TURN ACROSS TWO LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ERROR CODE P0010 AND P0011. PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOM KELLEY BUICK GMC (633 AVE OF AUTOS, FORT WAYNE, IN, (260) 434-4600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. *AS *TR
WHEN DRIVING WITH THE WIPERS ON LOW, THE WIPERS WORKED AS EXPECTED. WHEN THE WIPERS WERE SWITCHED TO HIGH, THE PLASTIC CONNECTOR POINTS UNDER THE HOOD BECAME DISCONNECTED AND STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. THIS WAS AT 65 MPH WITH THE VISIBILITY GOING FROM ADEQUATE TO ZERO INSTANTLY. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED THREE TIMES, EVEN WITH NEW CONNECTION POINTS AND THEN A NEW ASSEMBLY.
FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF A HEAVY RAIN STORM.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF A THUNDERSTORM. WIPERS HAD BEEN WORKING JUST FINE, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY WENT COMPLETELY OFF THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD, I HAD NO VISIBILITY, AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHEN THEY STOPPED WORKING. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY AND WAIT UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED. I TOOK IT TO CHEVY DEALER AND THEY WANTED $150 TO JUST LOOK AT THE CAR. TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A COMMON ISSUE WITH CHEVY EQUINOX'S. THE WIPER TRANSMISSION LINK STOPPED WORKING. THE MOTOR ON THE WIPERS STILL WORKS JUST FINE.
ON JULY 14, 2019, I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE FROM OUT OF TOWN WHEN A HEAVY RAINSTORM CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. I HAD MY TWO CHILDREN AND DOG IN THE CAR WITH ME. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON AND THEY WERE WORKING FINE. NOT EVEN FIVE MINUTES WENT BY AND THEY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WINDOW AND WHILE ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. I HAD NO CLUE WHAT CAUSED IT AS I HAD NO ISSUES LEADING UP TO IT. I ATTEMPTED TO PULL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ALMOST HIT A MOTORCYCLIST UNDER A BRIDGE DUE TO LACK OF VISIBILITY. CHEVY NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL IMMEDIATELY. THE 2013 MODEL WAS RECALLED AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ALOT OF PEOPLE WITH MY SAME VEHICLE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I PRAY NO ONE LOOSES THEIR LIFE OVER THIS ISSUE. I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT CHEVY IS WAITING ON AS THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COSTLY TO HAVE REPAIRED.
WIPERS WERE IN OPERATION DURING A HEAVY THUNDERSTORM AND THEY JUST STOPPED. VISIBILITY WAS ZERO AND TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY. FUSES WERE CHECKED AND THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE THRUWAY THERE WAS A RAIN STORM AND MY WIPERS WERE WORKING, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND I COULDN'T SEE A THING IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO DETERMINE WHERE I COULD PULL OFF TO THE SIDE AND HOPED THE SPOT WAS SAFE ENOUGH. I PUT ON MY FOUR WAY FLASHERS SO I COULD BE SEEN BY OTHER DRIVERS. IT WAS THE SCARIEST THING I EVER EXPERIENCED IN ALL MY YEARS OF DRIVING. WHY WOULD THE WIPERS JUST STOP WORKING!!
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOP WORKING IN A HEAVY DOWNPOUR WHILE AT NORMAL WIPER SPEED. DEALER IS WANTING TO CHARGE 400 FOR AS THEY STATED IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PLASTIC HOUSING ON THE WIPER TRANSMISSION ARM JUST BREAKS
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WHEN MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING. I HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE I HAD NO VISIBILITY IMMEDIATELY. THANKFULLY, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND COULD GET TO THE SHOULDER IMMEDIATELY OR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. HAD MY CAR TOWED HOME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME BECAUSE THERE WAS NO VISIBILITY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I WAS RIDING DOWN A HIGHWAY THROUGH A SEVER THUNDERSTORM WHEN MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. MY REAR WIPERS REMAINED INTACT. I PULLED OVER, CHECKED THE FUSE AND FOUND THAT THE FUSE WAS NOT BLOWN. THEREFORE, I BELIEVE IT'S THE MOTOR. I LOOKED UP THE ISSUE TO DISCOVER MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL.
I WAS DRIVING HOME DURING A RAINSTORM AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST RANDOMLY STOPPED AND I COULD NOT SEE I HAVE ZERO VISIBILITY I PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE HOME AT 9 PM AT NIGHT IN THE DARK WITH NO WORKING WIPERS
DRIVING IN RAINSTORM DOWN THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AROUND 70 MPH WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED AND STOPPED IN PLACE CAUSING DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. AFTER INSPECTION WIPER LINKAGE HAD SNAPPED. REPLACEMENT LINKAGE, ONLY ABLE TO BE RUN UNDER LOW SPEED.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN A TORRENTIAL RAIN STORM, MY WIPERS QUIT WORKING AND I HAD TO PULL WELL OFF THE ROAD (US23) AND WAIT OUT THE STORM. THE STORM FINALLY ABATED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE HOME.
WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MILES AN HOUR IN POURING RAIN, WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. WAS UNABLE TO SEE. TOOK VEHICLE TO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHO FOUND THAT THE WIPER MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY CHARGED ME $328.00 TO REPLACE IT.
TAKATA RECALL. ON 5/9/2019 I WAS DRIVING 4 1/2 HOURS FROM MY HOME TO A CABIN FOR A MINI TRIP. IT WAS SUNNY UP UNTIL ABOUT AN HOUR INTO MY TRIP THEN SUDDEN RAIN STARTED POURING. I TURNED MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON AND WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS THEY MALFUNCTIONED AND STOPPED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE, HANGING ALMOST OFF OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS GOING APPROX 70 MILES AN HOUR ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE POURING RAIN WHEN THEY MALFUNCTIONED AND I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO TRY TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE BEFORE I HIT SOMETHING BUT THAT WAS HARD TO DO BECAUSE I HAD NO VISIBILITY OF WHAT WAS IN FRONT OF ME.
VEHICLE DIES INTERMITTENTLY THROUGHOUT ALL DRIVING RANGES. FROM IDLING TO DRIVING AT ROAD SPEEDS. MULTIPLE TIMES IN A TRIP OR RANDOMLY.
ON JUNE 8, 2019 MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN IT STARTED TO RAIN VERY HEAVILY. ABOUT THREE MINUTES INTO THE RAIN STORM THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING AND STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD ZERO VISIBILITY AND CAME VERY CLOSE TO CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO PASS. IT TOOK ME TWO HOURS TO GET HOME BECAUSE I HAD TO CONSTANTLY FIND PLACES TO PULL OVER AND WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO SUBSIDE. USUALLY IT ONLY TAKES ABOUT 25 MINUTES TO DRIVE HOME FROM THIS DESTINATION. IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND WE CAME CLOSE TO SERIOUSLY BEING HURT OR KILLED DIRECTLY BECAUSE OF THE WIPER FAILURE AND THE ZERO VISIBILITY DUE TO THE HEAVY RAIN. I DID SOME INVESTIGATION AND FOUND WHERE GM HAD TO RECALL THE 2013 EQUINOX AND GMC TERRAIN MODELS DUE TO WINDSHIELD-WIPER FAILURE. I TOOK OUR EQUINOX TO OUR LOCAL CERTIFIED GM DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR OF THE WIPER ON JUNE 11, 2019. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME THAT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION ARM HAD BROKEN OFF OF THE WIPER MOTOR. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME CAUSE OF FAILURE THAT LED TO THE RECALL OF THE 2013 EQUINOX MODEL. OUR GM DEALER TOLD US THAT NO OFFICIAL RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR OUR 2014 EQUINOX. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THE 2014 EQUINOX MODEL FOR THE SAME WIPER FAILURE OF THE 2013 EQUINOX MODEL!!! THE 2014 EQUINOX MODELS WERE RELEASED IN THE YEAR OF 2013. THEY HAVE THE SAME WIPER MODEL ON THEM AS THE 2013 MODELS. I HAVE THE OFFICIAL REPAIR INVOICE WITH THE DESCRIPTION OF THE WIPER FAILURE DIAGNOSED BY OUR GM SERVICE DEALER. I ALSO HAVE IN MY POSSESSION THE FAILED WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY THAT WAS REMOVED FROM MY EQUINOX. MY FAMILY AND I BEG YOU TO PLEASE INVESTIGATE THESE FAULTY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON THE 2014 EQUINOX AND REQUIRE GM TO RECALL THIS MODEL.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND WENT INTO THE PARK POSITION. THE WIPERS WILL NOT OPERATE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS THE WIPER TRANSMISSION CAME APART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 63 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE STEERING WHEEL FORCIBLY TO THE LEFT, CAUSING THE WHEEL TO UNLOCK ITSELF AND ALMOST FLIP THE VEHICLE OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRADLEY HUBLER CHEVROLET (317-736-5141, LOCATED AT 1550 N MORTON ST, FRANKLIN, IN 46131) WHERE THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED THE CONTACT A $100 REBATE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,922.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION RESULTING IN CAR STALLING AND RATTLING OF ENGINE. OIL CHANGE REQUIRED MORE FREQUENTLY THAN THE RECOMMENDED 3 MONTHS/3,000 MILES. ENGINE STALLED WHEN SWITCHING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. ENGINE RATTLED WHEN IDLE UNTIL OIL IS ADDED.
WIPERS FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE FREEWAY. HEAVY RAIN, WIPERS WERE ON AT HIGHEST SPEED SETTING WHEN SOMETHING AUDIBLY SNAPPED AND WIPERS EXTENDED OFF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF VEHICLE. VISIBILITY WAS GREATLY REDUCED TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN.
I PURCHASED A NEW REPLACEMENT BATTERY FROM CHEVROLET IN NOVEMBER 2018. ON MAY 21. 2019, WITH ONLY 3,670 MILES ON THE NEW BATTERY, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND WAS CHARGED. THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT IF I DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR 30 MILES A DAY, THE BATTERY WILL NOT MAINTAIN A CHARGE AFTER THREE OR FOUR DAYS. FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS, I HAVE DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE LESS THAN 30 MILES A DAY AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT I BUY A BATTERY TENDER FOR THE CAR BUT I HAVE NO ACCESS TO A 110 VOLT PLUG. IN DECEMBER 2019, I AM GOING TO TEXAS AND MY CAR WILL BE PARKED AT THE AIRPORT FOR FIVE DAYS AND I AM AFRAID THAT THE BATTERY WILL BE DEAD WHEN I RETURN. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND SAW THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM AMONGST 2014 EQUINOX OWNERS. GENERAL MOTORS CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD INFORM OWNERS OF THIS ISSUE AND RECOMMEND A SOLUTION.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY DURING A THUNDERSTORM WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WIPERS STOPPED. I PROCEEDED TO THE MEDIAN TO TRY TO SEE FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN I DROVE CAUTIOUSLY TO THE NEXT EXIT. I COULD HEAR THE WIPER MOTOR GOING BUT THE WIPERS IT SELF WOULD NOT WORK. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AN AS I SEE THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH EQUINOXES.

INCIDENT #3: FEBRUARY 13, 2020, IT HAD SNOWED,CAR WAS PARKED,STARTED THE CAR TO WARM IT UP, WIPED ALL THE SNOW FROM WINDSHIELD AND BELOW WIPERS SO THERE WASNT AN UNFORESEEN ISSUE WITH THE WIPERS AGAIN.WENT BACK IN THE HOUSE WITH HEATER ON DEFROST,ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER RETURNED TO THE CAR (WITH 3 YEAR OLD GRANDSON), GOT IN THE CAR, TURNED ON THE WIPERS AND THE 3RD SWIPE,THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPPED WORKING AGAIN!! SAME ISSUE.MY HUSBAND REPLACED THE BALL JOINTS TWO TIMES SINCE FEB.13TH AND THEY KEEP DOING THE SAME THING, SWIPE 2 OR 3 TIMES AND STOP WORKING. TODAY IS FEBRUARY 18, 2020 AND IVE STILL NO USE OF WIPERS.HUSBAND'S GONE FOR WORK ALL WEEK AND HOME ON WEEKENDS. I AM NOW USING RAIN-X AND A SQUEEGEE TO KEEP MY WINDSHIELD CLEAR DUE TO HAVING TO TAKE MY GRANDSON TO PRESCHOOL & BACK DAILY & 1 VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE WASNT INCLUDED IN THE PRIOR RECALLS.SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHANGE THIS BECAUSE IT'S APPARENT THAT ITS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE! THIS NEEDS ADDRESSED ASAP WITH SOME CHANGES! THIS HAS GONE ON FAR TOO LONG AND TOO MANY COMPLAINTS NOT TO PUT OUT A RECALL! WHY WAIT FOR DEATHS TO OCCUR TO RECALL THIS SERIOUS MALFUNCTION!
VEHICLE SHAKES WHEN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY ON HIGHWAY, SLUGGISH TO ACCELERATE, MAKING HIGHWAY DRIVING FEARFUL. VEHICLE ALSO IS ROUGH AT IDLE, WITH POSSIBLE DYING OF ENGINE AT STOP LIGHTS. 8 REPAIRS SINCE JULY, 2017 - ALL RELATIVE TO SAME ISSUE - CAMSHAFT/EXHAUST. THIS CURRENT REPAIRS HAS BEEN FOR THE BALANCING SHAFT/WATER PUMP CHAIN, TENSIONER AND GASKETS, SEALS, ETC. I HAVE DONE A TIMELINE OF ISSUES/REPAIRS TO TRY TO TAKE ON GM. GOOD LUCK I REALIZE. FROM THE 7 DEALERSHIP TRIPS IN THE LAST YEAR THEY APPEAR TO ALL HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE INITIAL DAMAGE TO THE EXHAUST/CAMSHAFT REPAIRS AS EACH AND EVERY TIME SINCE THEN, EITHER THE EXHAUST OF THE CAMSHAFT HAS BEEN REPAIRED IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. THE INITIAL ISSUE WAS SLUGGISH ACCELERATION, ENGINE LIGHT ON. REPAIRED EXHAUST AND INTAKE CAMSHAFT ACTUATORS. THEN THE ALTERNATOR/BELT WENT OUT (NOT COUNTED IN THE 7 - HAD REPAIRED ELSEWHERE). I DIDN'T KNOW THEY FAILED FROM OIL ALL OVER THEM UNTIL THEY STARTED TO FAIL AGAIN AND LOOKED UNDER HOOD AND SAW OIL ALL OVER THE THING. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE TURNPIKE IN THE RAIN. THE BUSHING ON THE LINKAGE AT THE WIPER MOTOR BROKE APART.
MY WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF A THUNDERSTORM. IT WAS RAINING EXTREMELY HARD, I HAD TO PULL OVER TO AVOID HITTING SOMEONE BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE OUT OF MY WINDSHIELD.
OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE: MY CAR KEEPS LOSING OIL SHORTLY AFTER I GET AN OIL CHANGE. I DON'T EVEN KNOW ITS LOW UNTIL I HEAR MY ENGINE RATTLING. THE LAST TIME IT WAS CHECKED BY JIFFY LUBE, I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE OIL ADDED AND I'M NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE (AUG 8, 2019) UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST 2019. NO LIGHT OR INDICATOR COMES ON TO LET ME KNOW MY OIL IS LOW. I REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER (JEFF WYLER- OHIO) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY YEAR AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO GIVE ME A PRICE ON INSERTING PISTON RINGS OR SOMETHING TO THAT NATURE. HOW AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE WHEN GM KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE LAWSUIT COVERS EQUINOX FOR 2012-2017? HOWEVER, IT IS LOW EACH TIME THEY SERVICE MY CALL AND EVEN WHEN I JUST WENT TO HAVE A LIGHT BULB REPLACED, I WAS DOWN 2 QUARTS AND NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE FOR 2 MONTHS. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2014 AND THERE IS NO WAY I SHOULD EVER BE SHORT ON OIL - MY OIL IS CHANGED AS REQUIRED TO BE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. IF I WOULD OF KNOWN IT WAS A RECALL, I WOULD HAVE BEEN CONTACTED GM. DONT' WORRY I'LL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GM VEHICLE AGAIN. DRIVING ON E WAY , WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF SNOW STORM. GOT OFF AT CLOSEST EXIT, WENT IN TO AUTO PARTS GOT DIAGNOSIS THAT WIPER TRANSMISSION HAD WENT OUT. WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL.
THE CAR STUTTERS AND CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, THIS IS UNEXPECTED AND HAPPENS OFTEN.
DURING A TORRENTIAL RAIN STORM FRIDAY NIGHT APRIL 19 2019 APX 11:15PM ON 295 NEAR EXIT 29 OFF RAMP WIPERS STOPPED WORKING HAD TO BE TOWED AND NOW HAVING REPAIRED THRU WARRANTY COMPANY AND IN A RENTAL BECAUSE THE MOTOR IS DEFECTIVE
DRIVING HOME ON THE TURNPIKE DURING THE POURING RAIN, WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE INOPERABLE. VISIBILITY WAS COMPROMISED. VERY SCARY, ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. GMAC SAYS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY 2014 EQUINOX.
THE WIND SHIELD WIPERS STOP WORKING ENTIRELY.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED IN 2 PLACES CAUSING LIFE THREATENING CO CONDITIONS INSIDE IDLING CAR. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT ON THE VEHICLES WITH 2.4 LITER ECOTEC ENGINE. ROUGHLY A $1000 EXPENSE TO FIX WITH A NEW MANIFOLD. NOT WARRANTIED OR RECALLED ITEM. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE.
LOW PRESSURE WARNING, CAR STALLS OUT WHILE MOVING, LEFT STRANDED. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AND SAID PVC PLUG WAS CLOGGED CAUSING ENGINE REAR SEAL FAILURE. THIS IS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL BUT MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED, ENOUGH THOUGH THE MODEL YEAR WAS. I THINK THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED.
CHEVY EQUINOX 2014 BLEW A REAR MAIN SEAL AT 88,610 MILES AFTER BEING TOLD IS EXCESSIVELY CONSUMES OIL. I HEARD A POP AND THE LOW PRESSURE INDICATOR APPEARED. NO INDICATOR WAS PRESENT TO SHOW I HAD LOW OIL AT THE TIME OF THE VEHICLE LEAK STARTING, SO I WAS LEFT STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF A HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS IN -10 DEGREE WEATHER. THIS WAS A "COMMON ISSUE" IN THESE MODELS AND I WAS TOLD I MUST PAY 1,800$ TO REPAIR IT AS THERE ARE NO RECALLS OUT ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY ATE MY OIL AND NEGLECTED TO INFORM THAT IT WAS DOING SO AND IT WAS LOW, RESULTING IN ME BEING STUCK IN MY CAR WITH NO HEAT.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION TRAVELING STRAIGHT GOING APPROXIMATELY 50MPH WHEN IT STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT FAILED TO YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY. THE EQUINOX SUFFERED EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BUT NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.

THE ENGINE IN MY 2014 EQUINOX BLEW UP VIOLENTLY AT ONLY 67,937 MILES. IT OCCURRED AT FREEWAY SPEED ON I-94 IN DETROIT AND LEFT ME TOTALLY WITHOUT POWER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, INCLUDING MANY LARGE, COMMERCIAL TRUCKS. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO KEEP MY COOL AND NAVIGATE OFF THE NEAREST RAMP, COASTING TO RELATIVE SAFETY. TWO CONNECTING RODS WERE BROKEN IN HALF AND THE BLOCK ITSELF COMPLETELY RUINED. I BOUGHT THIS SUV FROM MY BROTHER WHO BOUGHT IT NEW AND IT HAS ALWAYS HAD PROPER MAINTENANCE. I HOPED THAT IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT'S UNDER 100K MILES, BUT WHEN I CONTACTED MY LOCAL GM DEALER THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO THE IN-SERVICE DATE (FALL 2013). THEREFORE, I HAD THE ENGINE PROFESSIONALLY REBUILT AT THE MOST REPUTABLE LOCAL SHOP.AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $5,500. I UNDERSTAND THAT A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT COULD BE AVAILABLE FROM GM IF THERE IS A RECALL, BUT CURRENTLY NONE IS AVAILABLE. IT IS MY CONTENTION THAT A WELL-MAINTAINED, LOW-MILEAGE MOTOR LIKE THIS SHOULDN'T BLOW UP AND THEREFORE, IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I ASKED CHEVROLET FOR A PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT, BUT THEY REFUSED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS LOW AND THE SOLENOIDS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JERRY'S CHEVROLET (1940 E JOPPA RD, BALTIMORE, MD 21234) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,109.
PCV FROZE UP, CAUSING A FAIL IN MY REAR MAIN SEAL. HAPPENED TWICE IN 1 YEAR 1 MONTH TIMEFRAME. CHEVY WARRANTY COVERED FULL REPAIR FIRST TIME, SECOND TIME WAS PARTIAL CHEVY PAY, THE REST OUT OF MY POCKET.
AT THE END OF FEBRUARY 2019 THE TRANSMISSION IN MY WINDSHEI6WIPERS WENT OUT. GM REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I ONLY HAD MY CAR FOR 2 YEARS. I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAIN STORM.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE DURING A RAINSTORM AND USING THE WIPERS AT HIGH SPEED THE WIPER TRANSMISSION LINKAGE DISENGAGED AND OPERATION IMMEDIATELY CEASED. VISIBILITY WAS COMPLETELY ZERO AND VERY NERVE RACKING WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CALL SHAFT ACTUATORS HAD FAILED AND WERE SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED. THE 2.4L ECOTEC ENGINE CONSUMES AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF OIL. MORE THAN 1 QUART PER THOUSAND MILES. MILAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES. ALSO HAS INTERMITTENT HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING WITH A DISTINCT "JERK". ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR FAILED AT 35K MILES.
PURCHASED MY PRE-DRIVEN SUV 88 DAYS AGO. AFTER PUMPING GAS, I ATTEMPTED TO START MY CAR & IT WOULDN'T START. I TURNED OFF THE RADIO, TRIED AGAIN BECAUSE IT WAS COLD OUT IT STARTED BUT SIMULTANEOUSLY THE 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT' CANMR ON. WHILE IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT LESS THAN A MIN LATER, IT CUT-OFF AGAIN! ANOTHER CAR WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME. I TURNED ON MY FLASHERS & STARTED UP AGAIN. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AT MY NEXT STOP, IT CUT-OFF AGAIN! I RESTARTED MY CAR, KEPT MY FLASHERS ON AND PRAYED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET TRYING TO ARRIVE HOME TO BEAT THE EXPECTED 'ICESTORM' I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT BUT THEY WERE CLOSED BUT WOULD CALL BACK. THE NEXT MORNING I HAD MY CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER - 13 MILES AWAY. THE SERVICE DEPT. HAS HAD HAD MY CAR FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS & COULDN'T IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THEY EVENTUALLY SAID THE ERROR CODE WAS P0010. THE PART NEEDED WAS: CAM SHAFT POSITION ACUATOR. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT THE DEALER SUGGESTED & I PAID FOR, REFUSED TO COVER PARTS, LABOR OR RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT EVEN AFTER ARGUING WITH THE SERVICE MGR. JUDGING BY THE COMMENTS/COMPLAINTS THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX, I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. I AM A WIDOW, ON DISABILITY & NEED A RELIABLE VEHICLE BUT THIS DEFECT HAS PLACED ME IN A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION. I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED OR MUCH WORSE SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS IS DANGEROUS! THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REMEDIED ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL. I HAD NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OR I WOULDN'T HAVE PURCHASED THIS CAR!
