It keeps stalling and trying to die out. I seen this has been an issue in previous years and in some cases this year. There has not been a recall issued yet for the 2023.
Check engine light turns off and on every day and it’s popping up high pressure fuel pump I Was told it was a problem with these make year and model vehicles and was considered a recall but was told my vin didn’t pop up as a recall and have to pay out of pocket I had less than 30,000 miles.
My Equinox completely stopped functioning in the middle of a major intersection as I was making a left turn during 5pm traffic. I was able to push the car out of the intersection with the help of other drivers (they had to exit their vehicles to assist) and the car restarted - I drove back roads to chevy dealership with the car cutting out unexpectedly twice more while the vehicle was moving and then restarting. No warning light came on. Dealership said my fuel pump "exploded" and pieces were also caught in the fuel injectors and all had to be replaced.
In September 2025 engine light came on and the message Engine Power is Reduced. The message and light went off. In October 2025 the engine light came on again and another message came on. Something like service ES. I didn’t catch the rest of it. No trouble driving and engine light went out after driving awhile. I took it to the Chevy dealer and they told me I need a new fuel pump. Car has only 58,249 miles on it. I refused repair and told them there were several recalls, but not for my year. Apparently this is a major problem with the Chevy Equinox.

While I was driving the Engine reduce power came on. I was currently doing 75 miles and the truck dropped down to 55 miles per hour. I took it to the Chevrolet place and it needed a fuel pump , and I was advised that this has been a common issue for the Chevrolet Equinox vehicles , and my vehicle is practically brand new. This issue needs to looked into because the is dangerous and a-lot of dealerships are stating this is a common issue.
High capacity fuel pump stopped working while going up a hill. Lost all driving power on freeway and was unable to accelerate any more. Luckily there was a pull off on the freeway or I would have been on a blind turn with cars going 70mph. Had to have pump replaced at a local shop as there was no recall for 2023. 2021 and 2022 have the recall for this specific component.
I want to explain my case to protect a future person with this problem and that they soon take action. This has happened to me on 2 occasions. [XXX], my vehicle suddenly stopped at a speed of 55 miles on [XXX] in Miami and the car dashboard showed a lack of gasoline power that the gas pump stopped working, braking the car abruptly and with a high risk that a vehicle could collide with me at high speed. I had to pay for a tow truck to the Chevrolet Auto National Doral dealership in Miami. The vehicle only had 28,000 miles and it took a month to repair the vehicle. Time passes and on [XXX] the same thing happens to me at a speed of 60 miles on [XXX] in the city of West Palm Beach, the vehicle failed and braked abruptly and stopped working with the same risk that a vehicle could hit me. I had to request a tow truck for the area dealership AutoNation Chevrolet Greenacres and they tell me that the warranty had expired because the vehicle has 54,000 miles explaining that the car has had the same problem on several occasions and that it was a factory problem and that it had been repaired recently in a year and they tell me that I have to pay $ 1,000 dollars for the repair and I want to file this complaint so that an inspection is done on that entire vehicle because they all have the same problem and they should not charge the customer for a problem due to factory defects in this vehicle. The component that’s failed and malfunctioning is the High Pressure Fuel Pump. Myself and my children’s safety was put at risk multiple times when the vehicle shut off multiple times and sputtering going into reduced power mode and the vehicle shutting off multiple times after it is started for at least 5-10 seconds. Yea the issue was fixed through a local Chevrolet dealership after having the vehicle for only two months and now the issues has reproduced after three months of being repaired the vehicle is back at the dealership with the same issues and awaiting a diagnostic. Vehicle is now at the dealership to be inspected and GM has been contacted regarding the issue Yes after the vehicle sputtered and died displaying the check engine light afterwards with the smell of fuel immediately after this was the first time this happens two months after vehicle purchase and the second time was 90 days after vehicle was fixed
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH, he observed a "reduced engine power " message appear and the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road, where the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not able to restart immediately, but it restarted 45 minutes later, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred approximately five months later. The contact stated that during the last failure the vehicle was not able to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the same independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and the entire fuel pump system needed to be replaced. Fuel pump. It’s available for inspection. Left me stuck on the side of a busy highway with cars flying past. Check engine light. A message said engine power reduced had to take side streets home with hazard lights. Car would not accelerate or go over 40 mph on a 45 mph road. I had the check engine light checked at auto zone. No the vehicle has not been inspected. No warning lights before. I pushed the gas pedal down and the car had no power, started to sputter message popped up on the dash that said engine power reduced and check engine light was on. Problem started right before 4pm on 3/10/2025.
High pressure fuel pump failed while driving causing a sudden loss in power. Vehicle went into limp mode and would not exceed 5 mph. Check engine light and dash warning illuminated. Vehicle had to be towed. Dealer could then not get vehicle to even start. The sudden loss of power in a traffic situation would be dangerous with the potential for another vehicle to collide from the rear due to the sudden deceleration with no brake lights.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after two or three attempts each time. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the OnStar app notified her of fuel issues. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000.
The car while driving suddenly died. The error code is related to the fuel pump, which I now understand had a recall for the 2 previous years. The dealership does not know when a replacement part might be available.
On 9/23/24 I was turning into a gas station going up a bit but of an incline and my car died, reduced engine power light came on as well as check engine light. Tried restart car and it would not start. Let vehicle sit for some time and it started and ran fine, the next day I took off it into the dealership and was told diagnostic indicates my fuel pump needs replaced, I replaced my fuel pump and the car ran fine until October 5, 2024 was driving down the highway at about 65mph when my vehicle lost power, I was able to pull off the road by coasting. Tried to start vehicle no power, engine power reduced light back on as well as check engine light. I was left stuck on the road waiting on a tow truck to take my vehicle back to the dealership that worked on it previously after contacting Chevy it was determined my fuel system failed and the part needed us on back order.
Car lost power on highway. Driving 65 MPH upon exiting ramp, got a check engine light and immediately a message saying reduced engine power. Car went to a speed of about 45 MPH IMMEDIATELY. Thankfully I was able to exit the highway having been ON THE RAMP. I was still able to drive the car on reduced power, had to turn on the hazard and the car was unable to go over 20 MPH. Took it to firestone and was notified that there was a fuel pump issue. Car only had 29000 miles. I know several people this happened to. An absolute joke, these should be recalled.
February-March 2024 the car would stall when trying to accelerate. April 2024 while driving to the store, the vehicle reduced speed and went into power save mode, and the check engine light appeared. I took it to the dealer on a Monday morning and from their diagnosis they reported nothing was wrong. They stated I pretty much had to wait until the car went out before they can figure out what's wrong. May 2024 while reversing and then putting the vehicle in drive, the car begin to lose power and a message appeared saying switch to neutral. After parking and turning the car off, then turning it back on, it hardly wanted to turn on and the message appeared again to put the car in neutral.
