TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE ESC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN OR WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE DUE TO NOT HAVING THE EQUIPMENT TO PROPERLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 206,000.
TAIL LIGHTS BURN OUR EVERY 5 DAYS. THE HOUSING FOR THE BULB MELTS AND THEN YOU CAN NOT GET A BULB IN .
I PARKED MY CAR IN A PARKING SPACE, TURNED IT OFF AND REMOVED THE KEY. I OPENED THE DRIVER DOOR, STEPPED OUT WITH MY LEFT FOOT AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD, KNOCKING ME BACK INTO THE DRIVER SEAT. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE, CHECKED THE GEAR AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK. RECENTLY WITHIN THE PAST 24 HOURS, I HAVE HAD INCONSISTENT POWER STEERING PERFORMANCE. I WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH THEN SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT. AS I ENTERED THE TURN, MY DASH WARNING SOUNDED AND DISPLAYED "POWER STEERING." FROM THAT POINT, I HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING INTERRUPTION. I BOUGHT POWER STEERING FLUID ONLY TO DISCOVER (AFTER CHECKING ONLINE FOR THE LOCATION OF MY POWER STEERING RESEVOIR) THAT I HAVE AN ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING SYSTEM. THIS DISCOVERY LED ME TO THE 4 RECALLS SINCE THE MANUFACTURE OF MY VEHICLE... IGNITION FAILS AND POWER STEERING FAILS. I CHECKED MY VIN BUT IT COMES UP AS NO RECALLS ALTHOUGH MY CAR MEETS THE CRITERIA (2010 CHEVY HHR NON-TURBO). THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY TO TRANSPORT MY CHILD/FAMILY. HOWEVER I AM FORCED TO DRIVE IT IN ORDER TO MAKE MY LIVING. I WILL TAKE A PHOTO OF THE WARNING MESSAGE AND UPLOAD IT WHEN I GET ANOTHER... AS I AM POSITIVE I WILL GET ANOTHER FAULT WARNING ON MY WAY TO WORK IN THE MORNING. MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN 2016... CURRENTLY THERE IS NO LIENHOLDER.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SPEAK TO A REPRESENTATIVE DUE TO THE AUTOMATED PHONE SYSTEM NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
TWO OF THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES HAVE SNAPPED OFF AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. A MINOR FENDER BENDER COULD JAM THE DOORS AND THE HANDLES BE TOO WEAK TO OPEN THE DOOR MECHANISMS. IF A FIRE, OCCUPANTS WOULD PERISH. RECALL IN ORDER FOR ALL VEHICLES WITH PLASTIC INSIDE DOOR HANDLES. UPDATED 09/11/2017*JS
LOSS OF POWER STEERING. POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I HAVE REPLACED THE RELAY SWITCH AND THAT HAS NOT WORKED. I HAVE SEEN (ON THE INTERNET) THAT THIS HAS BEEN A BIG PROBLEM. I SAW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2009-2010
1) THE TURN SIGNALS HAVE FAILED TO CANCEL AFTER A TURN ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. 2) RECENTLY, THE TURN SIGNAL WILL NOT HOLD IN THE ON POSITION ON A LEFT TURN AND HAS TO BE MANUALLY HELD DOWN TO ACTUATE THE SIGNAL FOR THE ENTIRE TURN. 3) AT THE SAME TIME, THE RIGHT SIGNAL WILL NO LONGER AUTOMATICALLY CANCEL AND HAS TO BE MANUALLY TURNED OFF AFTER A TURN. THESE ARE ISSUES BECAUSE YOU EITHER HAVE THE TURN SIGNAL NOT ON DURING A CROSS TRAFFIC TURN WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS ENGAGED, OR YOU HAVE IT ON WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT HAD AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF.
TAKATA RECALL. THE CAR HAS A RECALL ABOUT THE POWER STEERING, . THIS WAS FOUND OUT WHEN A DEER HIT THE CAR AND IT WAS IN A SHOP, WAS NOT FIXED BY SHOP , NEED IT LOOKED AT CHEVY SAID IT WAS REPLACED A YEAR OR SO AGO THEN WHY IS IT ACTING UP? NEED IT LOOKED AT ASAP DAILY DRIVER.
THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT DON'T KNOW IF IT'S A BAD FUSE OR SENSOR I WAS SITTING STILL WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
I AM EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE GAUGES AND POWER STEERING AS WELL AS WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON AND LOSS OF COMMUNICATIONS TO THE D.L.C. CONNECTOR. IT MAY HAPPEN AT ANY TIME ANYWHERE.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HUB BEARINGS ON MY FRONT WHEELS, TWICE IN TWO YEARS. VERY LOUD NOISES AND CAR SHAKES VERY BAD WHEN TRYING TO STOP. FRONT BRAKES, HUB BEARINGS, PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED TWO YEARS AGO. NOW HAVE TO REPLACE THE HUB BEARINGS AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
ESC IS WHAT IT SAID ON THE DASH. IT SOUNDED AS IF SOMETHING HAD CRAWLED AND WAS KEEPING THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING PROPERLY I LOOKED UP WHAT THE MEANING OF THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH AND IT SAID TRACTION CONTROL WARNING WHICH I HAD NO CLUE BUT WHEN I PULLED OVER WALKING AROUND THE CAR NOTHING SEEMED TO BE WRONG THE ENTIRE CAR WAS SHAKING IT WAS A SCARY EXPERIENCE AND THE CARS HAD TO GO AROUND ME. WHEN I RE-STARTED THE CAR THE MESSAGE WENT OFF AND THE CAR MOVED AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED.
ON GOING ISSUE OF BRAKE LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY COMING ON WITHOUT TOUCHING BRAKE PEDAL. FIRST NOTICED SOMETHING WRONG BECAUSE CRUISE CONTROL WOULDN'T ACTIVATE. FOUND PROBLEM AT NIGHT WHEN I COULD SEE THE GLOW FROM MY BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE TOP INSIDE EDGE OF MY REAR HATCH. REPLACING BRAKE SWITCH ABOVE PEDAL DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. SOUNDS KIND OF FUNNY, BUT I GOT BRAKE LIGHTS TO GO OFF WHILE SETTING IN DRIVEWAY AND POUNDING MY CENTER CONSOLE OUT OF FRUSTRATION. INTERNET SEARCH FOUND OTHER GM VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND FRUSTRATED OWNERS THAT TOOK VEHICLES TO DEALERSHIPS THAT DIDN'T FIX THEIR PROBLEM. ISSUE APPEARS TO BE CIRCUIT BOARD RELATED WITH CIRCUIT BOARDS LOCATED ON PASSENGER SIDE LOWER CENTER CONSOLE. A SHARP RAP WITH THE PALM OF MY HAND IN THAT AREA WILL ALWAYS GET THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO GO OFF WHEN THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ON. DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN, BUT SEEMS CRAZY TO HAVE TO KEEP CHECKING TO SEE IF MY CRUISE WILL SET SO I KNOW IF MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THEY HAVEN'T SEEN THIS PROBLEM, THOUGH AS I STATED EARLIER, INTERNET SEARCH WILL FIND OTHER GM OWNERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUE OF BRAKE LIGHTS ON WITHOUT TOUCHING BRAKE PEDAL. HAVE HAD ISSUE SETTING STILL OR MOVING. HAVE HAD CRUISE KICK OFF GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL.
I GOT MY CAR IN 2011 TOOK MY CAR INTO SHOP BECAUSE SMOG IS NOT PASSING NOW I WAS TOLD NEED NEW MOTOR AFTER 5YRS AT 5000.00
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SENSOR ILLUMINATED. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EPS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
THE PLASTIC, INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ARE PRONE TO BREAKING. I REPLACED FRONT, DRIVER'S-SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO. THE FRONT, PASSENGER-SIDE DOOR HANDLE IS NOW BROKEN. THIS IS MORE THAN AN INCONVENIENCE; IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, IT IS NECESSARY TO EITHER ROLL DOWN WINDOW AND OPEN DOOR BY PULLING EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE, OR ANOTHER OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE MUST EXIT THE VEHICLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM OUTSIDE. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, THIS COULD RESULT IN FURTHER INJURY OR DEATH TO OCCUPANT(S) BEING UNABLE TO QUICKLY EXIT THE VEHICLE. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE NHTSA, BUT THERE ARE MANY SUCH CASES THAT CAN BE FOUND BY SEARCHING THE INTERNET. IN FACT, IT IS SUCH A COMMON OCCURANCE THAT DORMAN MANUFACTURING SELLS A REPLACEMENT DOOR HANDLE REPAIR KIT FOR THE CHEVROLET HHR BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IS RIVETED TO THE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL, AND CHEVROLET/GM WOULD OTHERWISE REQUIRE ENTIRE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $400, EXCLUDING LABOR. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $45 (SHIPPING INCLUDED) THROUGH AMAZON FOR DORMAN'S KIT. MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BROKE. NORMALLY ONE WOULD NOT OPEN DOORS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.

CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND BROUGHT VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD ELECTRIC STEERING MOTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS . THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL GM VEHICLES WITH ELECTRIC STEERING AND MANY HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT I WAS TOLD THAT NOT ALL HHR'S WERE RECALLED JUST CERTAIN ONES AND MINE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST . THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM SHOULD OWN UP TO AND STAND BEHIND THERE VEHICLES .

CAR ONLY HAS 54,168 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED 4 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A NUMBER OF MECHANICS AS WELL A DEALER BUT NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE CAUSE OF IT IS. GROSSINGER CHEVY KEPT IT FOR 1 DAY CLAIMS TO NOT FIND ANYTHING BUT LIGHT STILL ON. TREMENDOUSLY CONCERNING.

THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOORS DO NOT OPEN OR CLOSE
THE POWER STEERING LIGHT RECENTLY HAS STARTED COMINGS ON RESULTING IN THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT WHILE I AM DRIVING. INITIALLY IT WENT OUT WHEN I WAS TURNING A CORNER, TODAY IT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAVE A HARD TIME TRYING TO STEER IT OFF THE ROAD ANYTIME IT HAPPENS. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL TAKEN CARE OF AND AM NOW WONDERING IF THIS IS A RELATED PROBLEM. I'VE REALLY ENJOYED MY HHR BUT AM VERY UNHAPPY THAT THIS IS GOING ON AND AM NOW VERY NERVOUS TO TRY TO DRIVE IT TO A AUTO REPAIR, THE NEAREST BEING 75 MILES AWAY. THIS STARTED HAPPENING 5 DAYS AGO ON JULY 3, 2016.

ARMS ARE WORN AND LOOSE, AND HAZARDOUS TO DRIVER AND WITHIN WARRANTY TO HAVE TOTAL REPAIR AT TIRESPLUS. . THE ARMS DISFUNCTION CAUSED FRONT TIRES TO BLOW OUT. JUNE 2016 DRIVING ON HWY 694W. LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW. TOWED TO NEARBY TIRESPLUS A DIFFERENT ONE. THEY FOUND FAULTY ARMS CAUSED TIRES WORN BEYOND EXPECTATION. THE 2 FRONT TIRES. THE BACK TIRES ARE NICE. TIRES ARE WITHIN TIRES PLUS WARRANTY ALSO. TIRES PLUS WILL NOT COMPLY AND BLAMES FAULTY PARTS MANUFACTER RESPONSIBLE. PLEASE CHECK THIS AS POSSIBLE RECALL. I FILED SMALL CLAIMS LITIGATION. JUNE 23, 2016 AND WILL TARGET ALL OF THEM. MANUFACTURER 1ST. MY FINAL PYMT IS DUE 11/2018 ON THIS CAR. I BELEIVE CAR DEALER SHOULD OF BEEN FAIR TO ME WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK 3 DAYS LATER. DEALER DENIED ME BECAUSE I DID NOT GET A WARRANTY. TIRESPLUS SEEMS VALID OF DECISION NOT TO FIX DUE TO RECALL POSSIBILITY. I AGREE. THE MANUFACTURER AND CHEVY NEED BE INVESTIGATED.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000. UPDATED 08/17/16*LJ CONSUMER STATED FOR SOME REASON, THE DESCRIBED FAILURES WERE ANNOUNCED AS RECALLS ON OTHER 2010 CHEVROLET HHR VEHICLES, BUT NOT THIS MAKE/ MODER, ACCORDING TO THE VIN. THE POWER STEERINGG LOCKED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND MADE DRIVING CONDITIONS VERY DANGEROUS. AS WELL AS IF THE AIRBAG HAD OPENED AT ANYTIME, WITHOUT BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. MY POWER STEERING MOTOR WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY STREET. I WAS LUCKY AT THE TIME TO BE ABLE TO PULL SAFELY OVER WITH MUCH EFFORT. I CHECKED RECALL LIST AND ALTHOUGH 2010 WAS LISTED AS RECALLED STEERING MOTORS, MY VIN # WAS NOT LISTED AS ONE. I HAD TO PAY OVER $300 TO REPLACE. WHY NOT MY VIN FOR THAT YEAR? DEFECTIVE!

THE RECALL DETAILS WERE NOT PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TORQUE SENSOR AND EPS MOTOR CONTROLLER UNIT WERE REPLACED. THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE OPERATED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE BACK RIGHT SIDE KEEPS GOING OUT. HAVE HAD BULB REPLACED 4 TIMES. THE BULBS BURN RIGHT OUT. LAST TIME DURING OIL CHANGE AT MISTER CAR WASH THEY TOLD ME TO HAVE TAIL LIGHT REPAIRED AS IT IS ALL MELTED INSIDE AND THE BULB WILL NOT STAY IN THE LAST TIME I HAD IT REPLACED WAS DURING A RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH AT MONDAY CHEVROLET BEFORE THIS. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A FACTORY DEFAULT? NOT SURE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS HAPPEN. THIS CAR IS GARAGE KEPT AND ONLY HAD 30 THOUSAND MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND NOW ONLY ABOUT 65000 ON IT NOW .. I DO NOT DRIVE IT MUCH .HAVE ONLY PUT ABOUT 35 THOUSAND ON IT IN OVER 6 YEARS I HAVE OWNED... HAVE OTHERS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TAIL LIGHT. FRONT HEADLIGHTS, LOW BEAM AND HIGH BEAM, NOT WORKING BECAUSE BULB WIRE CONNECTOR WAS MELTED.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILS..STARTED RANDOMLY BUT NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE..CAN DRIVE APPROX. 1 MILE EACH TIME WHEN THE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE POWER ASSIST FAILS....DEALER INFORMS ME MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL...THIS STARTED HAPPENING SHORTLY AFTER BREAKING 80,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE...THE MILEAGE SEEMS TO BE CONCURRENT WITH MOST OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THIS PROBLEM..I AM LEARY OF DEALER REPAIRING THIS AS THEY TOLD ME TO CHECK MY POWER STEERING FLUID, BUT THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT USE POWER STEERING FLUID.
TAKATA RECALL 2010 CHEVY HHR LOOSES POWER STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED ON 4/8/2016 AND 4/13/2016. NHTSA ISSUED RECALL BULLETIN 14115B JULY 2014 BUT LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAYS IT DOES NOT AFFECT MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE SINCE IT DOES NOT COME UP WHEN VIN IS SEARCHED.
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BEAK OFF - THERE HAVE BEEN TONS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. YOU CANNOT EXIT THE CAR FROM THE DOOR THE HANDLE HAS SNAPPED OFF WITHOUT EITHER GOING TO A DIFFERENT DOOR OR ROLLING DOWN WINDOW AND USING THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. 2 HANDLES HAVE BROKE NOW IN THE LAST YEAR.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON CAUSING THE AIRBAG NOT ABLE TO OPERATE. BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL IT DID HAVE ISSUES WITH THE WIRING STATING IT WAS CORRODED. IT COST A LOT OF MONEY TO HAVE THESE DEFECTS CORRECTED AND WAS TOLD NO SUCH RECALLS EXIST ON THE AIRBAG.

THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MOTOR ASSIST SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING. I START THE CAR AND WITHIN 2 MINUTES THE CAR IS SAYING THAT THE EPS IS NOT FUNCTIONING AND STEERING THE CAR BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. ALL THE TIME. VERY UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED ESPECIALLY TURNING. I WOULD LIKE MY CAR TO BE INCLUDED IN THE NATIONAL RECALL.
