WHILE DRIVING AIRBAG LIGHT WAS BLINKING, INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH AIRBAG SYSTEM. ALSO, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG; BUT MANUFACTURER WAS UNAWARE OF THE RECALL. *AK
THE COMPUTER THAT IS IN MY CAR IS NEW FOR THIS MODEL, AND THIS YEAR. NO OTHER CAR HAS IT IN THERE. WHAT IS HAPPENING IS THAT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE COMPUTER GETS OVERLOADED WITH INFORMATION, AND PUKES WITH A B0100 ERROR. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED THE OTHER 2001. IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY TRIED THREE OTHER 2001'S THAT THE SOUTHERN DEALERSHIP OWNED. THEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE ARE OTHER DEALERSHIPS ALSO HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA AIRBAGS. *AK
IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR THE VEHICLE'S CATALYTIC CONVERTER CONVERTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE OXYGEN SENSOR MAY HAVE BEEN THE CAUSED OF THE FAILURE. *MR THE DRIVER'S INFORMATION CENTER STOPPEDWORKING, THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED AND THE OXYGEN SENSOR NEEDS TO BE CHECKED AGAIN. *NM
2001 IMPALA REAR DEFROSTER DID NOT WORK. THIS WAS CAUSED BY A LOOSE CLIP INSIDE THE WINDOW. *TS *JB
2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA WITH SEVERE ENGINE PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT A VALVE THAT WAS TOUCHING THE ENGINE MELTED. THE MELTING OF THE VALVE CAUSED BURNING TO THE FUEL LINES, ELECTRICAL LINES, VACUUM LINES, AND PROTECTIVE COVERINGS. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *JB

ON 7-24-01 CALLED THE DEALER TO FIND OUT IF I HAVE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM ON MY CAR ,THEY TOLD ME I DID SO I TOLD THEM THAT THE ABS WARNING LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON WHEN YOU TURN THE IGN. ON LIKE THE OWNERS MANUAL SAIDS. THEY TOLD ME THAT AS LONG AS THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ITS OK. SO I COMPLAINED TO THE CHEV. CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS. ABOUT THIS AND THE ANSWER I GOT WAS THE SYSTEM IS OKAY , AND THE REASON THE ABS LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON IS BECAUSE IN THE BEGINING OF THIS MODEL YEAR ABS WAS FREE,AND IN THE SECOND HALF IT COSTED 620.00 DOLLARS, WHAT ARE THEY SAYING???? IN THE OWNERS MANUAL IT STATES THAT EVER THE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE SYSTEM IS OKAY OR IT DOESN'T AND TO GET LOOKED AT SOON.*AK

WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A THUMPING NOISE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND HAD TIRES REPLACED. PROBLEM WAS GETTING WORSE. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC INDICATED THAT ALUMINUM WHEELS SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH STEEL WHEELS. HAD BEEN TO DEALER 5 TIMES FOR PROBLEM.*AK
CONSUMER STATES TWO OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS SQUAD CARS EXPERIENCED TEMPORARY LOSS OF BRAKING, DEALER STATED THE MASTER CYLINDER GASKET ON BOTH VEHICLES WERE SWOLLEN AND DEFORMED, CAUSING A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID PRESSURE AND LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY, REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE INSTALLED. *SLC

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 55-60 MPH THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. IT GIVES NO WARNING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES, AND THIS FIFTH TIME CONSUMER HAD THE DEALER COME AND PICK THE VEHICLE UP FOR REPAIRS. NLM
THERE ARE NO BAFFLES IN THE GAS TANK, SO THE GAS SLOSHES BACK AND FORTH IN THE TANK. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS AS THE SHIFTING GAS COULD AFFECT THE STEERING CHARATERISTICS OF THE CAR.*AK
WHILE CRUISING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLS AND WILL NOT RESTART UNTIL AFTER THREE TO FOUR ATTEMPTS. DEALER IS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM (VEHICLE IS A POLICE PACKAGE, THE TOWNSHIP ALSO OWNS A SECOND 2001 IMPALA WITH THE IDENTICAL PROBLEMS). *YD

CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CRADLE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE MOTOR IS CRACKED AND LOOKS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO BRAKE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY HAD REPLACE THE CRADLE. BUT IT IS BRAKING AGAIN AND THE ONLY THING THEY WILL DO IS GLUE IT BACK TOGETHER.
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING. ALSO STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WENT FROM SIDE TO SIDE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND HAS REPLACED THE TIRES AND STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE RUN OUT AND THAT IT ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ALIGMENT AND THAT WAS DONE 4 TO 5 TIMES ALREADY AND ALSO HAS BEEN AT THE SHOP AT LEAST 8 TIMES. CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STALLING. ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE COMPLETLY SHOT OFF PUTTING THE CONSUMER ON A REAL RISK. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT. TS
CONSUMER STATES WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, HIT A POT HOLE AND LOST CONTROL, HAVING A FRONT COLLISION AND NEITHER OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DEALER HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE 8 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO YEARS WITH AIR LIGHT SENSOR. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. TS
WHEN STOPPED ON A MODERATE INCLINE, THE DRIVER REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO ROLL DOWN THE GRADE. *TS *NLM

WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED PULLING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE, BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE MECHANIC STATED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW WATER PUMP. *JB
CONSUMER STATES WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED OR STOPPING VEHICLE WOULD STALL.*AK
VEHICLE COMES EQUIPPED WITH A CHILD MOTION SENSOR THAT'S LOCATED IN THE TRUNK. THIS DEVICE PREVENTS A CHILD FROM BEING LOCKED IN THE TRUNK. WHILE DRIVING THE SENSOR INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THEN, VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO SENSOR MALFUNCTIONING. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO REPLACE THE BAD SENSOR BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER NO LONGER MADE THAT PART. *AK
TURN SIGNALS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. *AK TURN SIGNALS FAILED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. TO ACTIVATE THEM, CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO ACTIVATE THE HAZARD LIGHTS FOR A FEW SECONDS OR CUT THE ENGINE OFF. *PH
WHILE DRIVING UPHILL VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF DRIVE. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION SLIPPED GEARS AND LURCHED FORWARD. DEALER REPLACED THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION ALSO SLIPPED GEARS AND LURCHED FORWARD. *AK WHEN VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER ON FIRST FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION, CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE COLOR OF THE FLUID IN THE TRANS AXLE WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE IN THE BOTTLE. CONSUMER DECIDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSAXLE AND FLUID AFTER VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR A NUMBER OF MILES BECAUSE THE FLUID COLOR GETS DARKER. AFTER REPAIR, JUST AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD, TRANSMISSION BLEW UP THEN VEHICLE QUIT DRIVING FORWARD; TRANSMISSION TECHNICIAN AND COULD NOT TELL THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. CONSUMER SPOKE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER AND SAID THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF AN AXLE BEARING OR BEARING FAILURE. *LA
