VEHICLE REAR BRAKE ROTOR WAS PULSATING. NAR 07/15/2003.*MR *CB
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT AND STAYS ON. DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG, AND RELATED WIRING AND COMPUTER COMPONENTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET THE CAR CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE NEXT WEEK WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 70 MPH THE CAR CUT OFF AGAIN WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS. ONCE I GOT IT STARTED IT CUT OFF ABOUT 4 MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET HOME. THE DEALER REPLACE THE FUSE BOX. NOW ABOUT 7 MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN. I INFORMED GMAC AND THEY TOLD ME TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER. I GUESS SO THEY CAN HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE TO HURT SOMEONE THIS TIME.*AK
DT: WITHIN 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE THE NEW VEHICLE STALLED WITH NO NOTICE AT STOP LIGHT. AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR SEVERAL HOURS IT WILL THEN START. SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT START EVEN AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MASS AIR FLOW PRESSURE SENSOR SEVERAL TIMES.*AK
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. CONSUMER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF RECALL. *TT
THE CHILD SEAT LATCH WOULD NOT RELEASE WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED THE PUT THE CHILD IN THE CAR SEAT. *NLM
STEERING COLUMN SHAFT RATTLES. PROBLEMS WITH THIS SINCE SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING. NOW AFTER 100,000+ MILES, THEY HAVE SAID THIS IS THE PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND THAT OTHER PROBLEMS LIKE THIS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. *NM
I WANTED HIM TO CHECK MY DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T OPEN VERY EASILY AT TIMES, AND THE WINDOW TO THAT SAME DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AT TIMES. ALSO, MY TRUNK WOULDN'T OPEN WHEN ONE WOULD USE THE TRUNK RELEASE BUTTON AT TIMES. I ALSO HAD HIM CHECK MY DIMMING HEADLIGHTS, MY STEERING WHICH HAD A JERK IN IT WHEN I WENT AROUND CURVES, CLICKING SOUND IN ENGINE AND AN OVER ALL CHECK SINCE MY WARRANTY IS ABOUT TO RUN OUT IN 1,000 MILES. TURN OUT-AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER MY AIR CONDITIONER WAS HUMMING LIKE A HELICOPTER, MY BRAKES WERE HORRIBLE AND GRINDING AND THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT HAS NO GET UP AND GO POWER. I TOOK MY CAR TO BRAKE CHECK AFTER LEAVING BECAUSE WHEN THE DEALER DID THE OVERALL CHECK OF MY CAR THEY SAID I NEEDED A FRONT BRAKE JOB. AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER 200.00 DOLLARS. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. WELL BRAKE CHECK TOOK OFF ALL FOUR TIRES AND FOUND THAT MY PROBLEM WAS DUE TO LEFT AND RIGHT CALIPER PROBLEMS ON THE INBOARD SIDE AND LEFT REAR HARD WEAR PROBLEMS AND WEAR ON THE OUTBOARD SIDE. THE CALIPER IS ENGAGING BUT NOT DISENGAGING AND CAUSED MY PADS TO WEAR OUT AND MY ROTORS ARE ATE UP. THE PADS ARE NOT WORN EVENLY WHICH IS DEFINITELY A SIGN OF CALIPER PROBLEMS. ALSO, THE DEALER UPON THE OVERALL INSPECTION OF MY CAR SAID THAT MY INTAKE GASKETS WERE RUINED AND LEAKING COOLANT. THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THEM, HOWEVER I AM AFRAID THAT THERE IS FURTHER DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE THAT THEY ARE NOT TELLING ME, JUST LIKE MY BRAKES. DUE TO THE FACT THAT STEVE AT LONE STAR TOLD ME THAT IT WAS CAUSED DUE TO LACK OF OILS CHANGES AND GIL SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GASKETS BEING IMPROPERLY SEATED FROM THE FACTORY OR JUST A DEFECT IN THE GASKET. WELL IS THIS WHY MY CAR HAS NO GET UP ANYMORE? MY CAR ALSO MADE A GRINDING SOUND WHEN HITTING BUMPS UNDER THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER AREA THAT NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT AND MY HEADLIGHT PROBLEM THEY SAID WAS DUE TO A FAULTY BATTERY CABLE. *NLM
THE VEHICLES STEERING COLUMN WAS VERY LOOSE AND PRODUCED A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE. *NLM
POWER DOOR LOCKS ON MY 2002 IMPALA STILL ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND HAVEN'T BEEN SINCE SHORTLY AFTER CAR WAS PURCHASED. SUPPOSED TO LOCK WHEN TAKING CAR OUT OF PARK. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX PROBLEM NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE , AND IT HAS BEEN A TEMPORARY FIX AS THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO RESURFACE INTERMITTENTLY. THIS SAFETY FEATURE IS NOT RELIABLE. *NLM
LOOSE/DAMAGED STEERING COLUMN PART CAUSES " CLUNKING SOUND" WHILE TURNING OR BRAKING. STARTED AROUND 2000 MILES-FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE AND I AM AFRAID SOME DAY SOMETHING IS GOING TO COME OFF THE CAR! VERY INSECURE FEELING. REPORTED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NO DIAGNOSIS ACCORDING TO THE DEALER.. *JB
THE VEHICLE'S GAS TANK WOULD NOT FILL BECAUSE AIR HAD GOTTEN IN THE TANK. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *NLM ONE MUST HOLD THE GAS NOZZLE AWAY FROM THE FILLER TUBE AND RESTRICT THE FLOW. THE TIRE AND FUEL SYSTEM/TANK/INJECTORS WERE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RATTLE SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE DUE TO THE INJECTORS THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. AFTER THE ENGINE IS HOT, THE NEXT TIME THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN OVER BUT NO START AND RUN ROUGH. THE FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATED(NOT GIVING ACTUAL AMOUNT). THE SOLENOID WAS REPLACED DUE TO HANGING BY THE HOSE RETAINER. SCC
THE CAR STALLS ON THE FREEWAYS OR SIDE STREETS WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS, AND I LOSE CONTROL THE POWER OF THE CAR AND THE BRAKES. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE DEALERS ARE NOT ABLE TO REPAIR IT. *NLM
OWNER OF THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT. IT CONSISTED OF THE DRIVER HITTING AN 8 FOOT GATE AND KNOCKING IT DOWN. HITTING THE TRUCK PARKED IN THAT GATE WITH THE FORCE OF PUSHING IT INTO THE BUILDING, WHERE THE BUILDING WAS CRACKED ON THE INSIDE. ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL ITS NO REASON WHY THE AIRBAGS SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED AT THIS TIME. I DAMAGED THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE DRIVER SIDE HAS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. WHICH AS STATED THE OWNERS MANUAL ARE REASONS THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. CAN YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION . I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THIS HAS HAPPENED TO WITH AN CHEVROLET IMPALA 2002. I HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH OTHER OWNERS. WHO HAVE ALSO FILED CLAIMS WITH YOU. I KNOW EACH ACCIDENT/SITUATION IS DIFFERENT BUT PLEASE SEND ME A RESPONSE THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

PROBLEMS BEGAN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WITH DIGITAL GEAR INDICATOR, DASH, AND OTHER LIGHTS GOING OUT AND COMING BACK ON. GOT NO SATISFACTORY RESPONSE FROM MANUFACTURER AND NOW CLUSTER HAS GONE OUT, SWITCH OUT, LOW COOLANT LIGHT STAYS ON. AT TIMES ACRID SMELL IN VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER SLOWING TO ENTER A DRIVEWAY THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO GAS PEDDLE. IT WOULD GO VERY SLOWLY WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED. IT WOULD NOT CORRECT ITSELF AFTER BEING STOPED AND TURNED OFF. HOWEVER AFTER BEING OFF SOMETIME IT WENT AWAY AND RESPONDED AS USUAL. WHEN IT WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEPT. IT DID IT AGAIN BUT LATER THE SERVICE MAN SAID HE COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT, ALTHOUGH HE KNEW THAT IT DID IT ORIGINALLY.
WHEN TRYING TO APPLY ANTI LOCK BRAKES BRAKES LOCKED UP, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SKID, RESULTING IN A COLLISION/INJURIES. DEALER NOTIFIED. TS...*AK
MY 2002 CHEVEROLET IMPALA (8000 MILES) HAS DEVELOPED A THUDING LIKE TYPE NOISE IN THE GAS TANK OF THIS CAR... THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THIS IS A NORMAL SOUND... HAVE YOU HEARD OF ANY OTHER PROBLEMS REPORTED BY OHTER OWNERS OF 2002 IMPALAS??
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE DEALER CHANGED THE BCM MODULE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE DEALER THEN REPLACED THE BCM MODULE AGAIN. APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. AS A RESULT, THE POWER WINDOWS WERE INOPERABLE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THEY REPLACED THE WIRES HOWEVER APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. AS OF APRIL 14, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
THE WINDSHIELD WAS GLASSY, WHICH CAUSED EYE STRAIN AND FATIGUE, WHEN DRIVING IN SUNNY CONDITIONS. DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER COULD NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. TS *TT *JB

MY WINDOW REGULATOR KEEPS SNAPPING. THIS IS THE SECOND ONE THAT I PURCHASE IN ONE YEAR AT THE COST OF $300.00 EACH TIME TO REPAIR. THE REPAIRMAN SAID THAT HE BELIEVE THAT THE WINDOW IS TO HEAVY FOR IT. EACH TIME I GET IT REPAIRED, THEY SAID THAT THEY GET A LOT OF THEM TO FIX. *TR
LIGHTS WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN KEEP GOING FROM SHARP TO DIM -MCGUIRE CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT TELL ME THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CORRECT IT. SEEMS TO BE A FOOLISH ANSWER TO ME SINCE THE CAR HAS BEEN OUT FOR A FULL YEAR AND BY NOW GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE CAR AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. MR
HEADLIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF IN PULSATING FASHION WHILE COASTING, BRAKING OR STOPPED. THE FLICKERING DOES NOT OCCUR WHILE ACCELERATING. 2002 IMPALA LS, SPORT EDITION, 3.8L V-6. THIS CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP JUST AFTER PURCHASE, RICHARD LUCAS, IN AVENEL, NJ. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP IN RACINE, WI - FRANK BOUCHER. THE FIRST TIME, THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND GAVE ME A "BULLETIN" ADVISING DIMMING OF LIGHTS WAS NORMAL. THIS ISN'T DIMMING, IT'S FLICKERING. PLUS - I WAS PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICER WHO THOUGHT I WAS PLAYING WITH MY HEADLIGHTS. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, FRANK BOUCHER, AND THEY CONTACTED GM TECH SERVICES. THEY CHECKED A FEW THINGS INCLUDING THE AIR PUMP. THEN - BY USING THE TECH II TOOL, THEY WERE ABLE TO RECREATE THE FLCIKERING BY SWITCHING THE AIR PUMP ON. HOWEVER, THE RESPONSE FROM GM TECH SERVICES IS, THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION ON THE PROBLEM, HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A COMPLAINT ABOUT IT AND THERE IS NO "FIX". THEY HAVE ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS NO PROPOSED FIX. NOW I READ HERE THERE ARE THREE OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. WHAT CAN BE DONE? GM WON'T DO ANYTHING STATING IT IS NORMAL - BUT IT IS NOT NORMAL. IF I AM PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICER, THIS IS NOT NORMAL.
WHILE CHECKING COOLING SYSTEM NOTICED A BUILD UP OF BROWN STUFF ON RADIATOR CAP, AND BROWN WATER AT RADIATOR TOP. COOLING LIQUID BREAKS DOWN AND CLOGS UP RADIATOR/ HEATER CORE AND ENGINE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

WHEN ON A DOWNWARD INCLINE OR IN REVERSE AND APPLYING THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WILL STILL ACCELERATE, AND IT IS HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE IS ALSO EXPERIENCING A THUMPING NOISE IN THE RER OF THE VEHICLE WHILE BRAKING. *AK *NLM
CONSUMER STATE THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE WHEN APPLIED THE BRAKES. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND REPLACES THE FRONT ROTORS AND THE PADS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND THE PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. MR

PROBLEM WITH MESSAGE CENTER, SECURITY LITE COMES ON THEN BATTERY LITE, THEN SERVICE VEHICLE SOON, THEN AIR CONDITIONING WOULD NOT TURN ON, STARTED FUNNY, DID NOT START TURNING OVER WHEN I FIRST TURNED THE KEY IT STARTED TO TURN OVER ABOUT 1 SEC AFTER TURNING THE KEY AND STARTED OK THEN. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED A THE SAME TIME FOR THE FIRST TIME. PRIOR TO THIS I REPORTED A POPPING/SNAPPING NOISE WHEN YOU TURNED THE KEY. THE CHEV DEALER SAID THIS WAS NORMAL (3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE PROBLEM).

02' CHEVROLET IMPALA. USING THREE DIFFERENT CONFINED SPACE MONITORS I HAVE FOUND CONTINUING PRESENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE AND METHANE EMISSIONS IN THE INTERIOR/CAB OF MY VEHICLE. GM HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND HAS ALSO FOUND THE PRESENCE OF VEHICLE EMISSIONS INSIDE THE VEHICLE BUT, THEY CONTEND THE AMOUNTS ARE WITHIN EPA STANDARDS. THE PROBLEM IS ON GOING AND CONTINUES TO BE A HEALTH RISK FOR MY FAMILY. FREQUENT HEADACHES AND FATIGUE ARE OFTEN AFFECTS AFTER OPERATING THE VEHICLE. NAUSEA HAS OCCURRED AFTER LENGTHY TRIPS IN THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE RESULTED TO DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN TO HELP ALEVE THE EFFECTS ON THE CARBON MONOXIDE, BUT THIS ISN'T THE SOLUTION. THE EMISSIONS ALSO CREATES AN ODOR THAT CLINGS TO YOUR BODY. WHAT CAN I DO? *NLM
WHEN BRAKING AND (ROTORS)WHEELS ARE HOT, CAUSES THE ROTORS TO BECOME OUT OF ROUND. WHEN BRAKING WHEELS PULSATE, AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHILE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. *AK
WE PURCHASED THIS IMPALA LS WITH 90 MILES ON IT (AS IT WAS DRIVEN UP FROM A DEALER IN NEW JERSEY). SINCE THE FIRST DAY WE HAD THE VEHICLE THERE HAS BEEN A CLEARANCE PROBLEM - WHEN GOING UP OR DOWN A NORMAL GARAGE OR DRIVEWAY INCLINE AT THE SLOWEST SPEED (EVEN BELOW 5 MPH), THE CAR BOTTOMS OUT. WE HAVE ADVISED BOTH PAUL CONTE AND THE GM CHEVY DIVISION OF THIS IMMEDIATELY AND REPEATEDLY. THEIR RESPONSE WAS, THE VEHICLE HAD A DESIGN FLAW. WE DO NOT FEEL CHEVROLET'S DESIGN FLAW SHOULD BE THE CONSUMER'S ISSUE. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT/CENTER COLLISION AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT.*AK THE WINDSHIELD SHATTERED UPON IMPACT INJURING THE CONSUMER. SAFETY DEVICES DIDN'T PERFORM AS ADVERTISED. *PH *JB

VEHICLE WOULD SHIMMY AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND BOTH FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND THE REAR ROTORS WERE REPLACED. *AK *NLM
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE, I PARKED AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT WOULD NOT START. AFTER WAITING ABOUT 20 MINUTES IT DID START. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A SENSOR WHICH THEY REPLACED. DID NOT STOP THE PROBLEM, CONTINUES TO DO IT TODAY. NOW AT ABOUT 8500 MILES A MESSAGE COMES UP TO SERVICE TRACT SYSTEM. AM TOLD IT IS A SENSOR IN THE HUB AND THE ENTIRE HUB WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $750 PER HUB FOR THE FRONT AND SLIGHTLY MORE IF IT IS THE REAR HUB. AFTER READING ON THE INTERNET OF THIS SAME PROBLEM PEOPLE ARE HAVING, I REALIZE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS ALL THESE FIXES DO NOT STOP THE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, A POPPING NOISE EMITTED INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FUNCTIONED AS DESIGNED AND THAT THERE WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
