INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE. *JB
2004 CHEVY IMPALA HAS A CLUNK NOISE IN STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SPEEDOMETER INTERMITTENTLY PROVIDED AN INCORRECT READING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT ALERTED.
I HAVE A BAD SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 CHEVY IMPALA. IT IS ERRATIC. SOMETIMES IT WORKS FINE, BUT NOT FOR LONG. USUALLY IT READS 30 TO 60 MPH OVER WHAT I AM GOING OR IT GOES BEYOND THE 120 MAX. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHEVY VEHICLES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED AN INCORRECT SPEED AND WOULD FLUCTUATE SPORADICALLY. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,826. THE CONSUMER STATED GM ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. UPDATED 12/12/07
ORIGINALLY RADIO FAILED TO WORK. WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE RADIO. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A WIRING HARNESS THAT WAS CORRODED IN THE PASSENGER REAR SEATING AREA. THIS HARNESS ALSO CONTROLS THE WARNING BELLS FOR THE ENTIRE CAR. THERE IS DEFINITELY A WATER ENTRY ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. NOW THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS COMING ON AND YOU CAN HEAR WATER 'SLOSHING" AROUND IN THE DASHBOARD AREA. WATER IS COMING IN TO THE PASSENGER FLOOR AREA. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THAT MY SPEEDOMETER WAS SITTING ON ZERO. MONTHS LATER I NOTICED THAT MY GAS GAUGE STARTED GOING HAYWIRE. ONE MINUTE IT WAS FULL THE NEXT IT WAS 1/2 FULL AND I HAD ONLY GONE 20 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. THEN MY DAD USED MY CAR ONE DAY AND TOLD ME THAT THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WAS WRONG AS WELL. I HAVE NOT HAD THE MONEY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND THE ONLY WAY I KNOW I NEED GAS IS WHEN THE LOW FUEL MESSAGE COMES UP IN THE MESSAGE CENTER. I HAVE RECEIVED ABOUT 4 SPEEDING TICKETS JUST IN THE LAST YEAR AND WOULD HAVE RECEIVED MORE IF I HAD NOT KNOWN THE OFFICER OR TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM AND BEGGED THAT THEY LET ME OFF WITH A WARNING. *TR
SPEEDOMETER GOES HAYWIRE AND DOES NOT REGISTER PROPER SPEED OR GETS STUCK ON ONE NUMBER, OTHER CONSUMERS OF THIS 2004 CHEVY IMPALA HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND WE FEEL IT SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE. *JB
I WAS DRIVING TO SCHOOL, I WENT TO PUSHING MY CIGARETTE LIGHTER AND WHEN I DID I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS AN ODD SMELL COMING FROM THE CAR, THEN I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE CONSOLE WHERE YOU PUT THE CAR IN GEAR, THEN I HAD TO PULL OVER THE CAR BECAUSE THERE WAS SO MUCH SMOKE THAT I COULDN'T SEE AND I COULD HEAR A CRACKLING SIZZLING NOISE, SO I PULLED AT THE PIECE THAT COVERS UP THE GEARS AND SEEN THAT THE WIRES WHERE BURNING IT LOOKED AS IF WHERE THE SPRING THAT LIGHT DYNAMITE OR SOMETHING SO I DID THE ONLY THING I COULD DO I POURED MY SODA ON THE WIRES BECAUSE I WAS SCARED THE CAR MIGHT HAVE BLOWN UP WITH ME AND MY 10 MO. OLD BOY AND 3 YEAR OLD GIRL RIGHT THERE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE SPEEDOMETER REMAINED AT THE 70 MPH MARK. THE SERVICE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED.*AK
WHEN INSTRUMENT PANEL STOPS WORKING THE TRACTION CONTROL IS ALSO STOPS WORKING SO DOES THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKES MAKING IT UNABLE TO STOP PROPERLY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A GM MECHANIC THAT GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BY\UT THEY INTEND TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

THE EVENT ACTUALLY STARTED THE DAY THAT MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. WE BOUGHT OUR VEHICLE USED FROM SANGER FORD IN SANGER, CA. FIRST THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WENT OUT. LATER THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND NOW OUR FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK. THE MECHANIC AT SANGER FORD STATED THAT IT WAS THE CLUSTER AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND TOLD US IT WOULD COST $507.45 TO REPLACE. WE HAVE SINCE SPOKEN TO GM, WHO INSTRUCTED US TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY WOULD TAKE IT FROM THERE. WE PAID $85 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AT TOM BENSON CHEVROLET IN SAN ANTONIO, TX. GM THEN TOLD US THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE CLUSTER ON THE IMPALA, BUT THERE ARE RECALLS ON THE CHEVY TAHOE, SUBURBAN AND THE SILVERADO AND THAT IF WE WANTED IT REPLACED WE COULD DEDUCT THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSTIC FROM WHAT TOM BENSON WANTED TO CHARGE TO REPLACE IT, WHICH WAS $500. I HAVE SEEN COMMENTS ONLINE FROM OTHER '04 IMPALA OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR CLUSTER GOING OUT, THEY JUST EITHER PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND THE ONES WHO DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE IT, LIKE MYSELF, ARE STUCK WITH NOT KNOWING HOW FAST THEY ARE DRIVING, HOW MUCH GAS THEY HAVE OR IF THEIR ENGINE IS RUNNING HOT. PLEASE HELP US. I KNOW THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND GM DOESN'T WANT TO HAVE TO PAY TO FIX IT. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, THE PEDAL PULSATED AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED TWICE AND THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AND REAR ROTORS WERE REPLACED ONCE. THE SHAKING STOPPED FOR ONE WEEK, BUT THEN THE SHAKING PERSISTED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, # 04V287000, REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
USED VEHICLE PURCHASE - CLUNK IN STEERING UPON TURNING - BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. CONCERNED THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT IF STEERING GOES OUT? *NM

I BOUGHT 2004 IMPALA AND HAVE IGNITION PROBLEM WITH WITNESSES WITH A DENT IN FRONT BUMPER, AFTER TEN YEARS OR OVER 100K MILES THE GASKET GOES ON GM/GMC PRODUCTS, BOTH INNER TIE RODS ROTTEN OUT. I HAVE TALK TO GM EXECUTIVE OFFICE THAT FIX THE IMPALA PROBLEM IN 2011 BUT UNWILLING TO DEAL WITH IT NOW. I THINK I NEED OUT SIDE COUNSEL AND ENGINEERING FIRM TO TEST AND TESTIFY ON MY BEHAVE AND3,700 OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I WANT NEW VEHICLES AND SETTING UP A DATE WITH CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE, AND NHTSA REVIEW MY CASE. I HAVE MET WITH CONGRESSIONAL PANEL INVESTIGATING GM THAT WANT TO HELP ME RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. I BEEN A GM PERSON BUT SERIOUSLY LOOKING IN THE FOREIGN MARKET IF I HAVE NO SERIOUS RESOLUTION. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE AT ANY SPEED. THERE WAS AN NHTSA RECALL, # 04V287000, REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
SPEEDOMETER READS ERRATIC. INDICATOR BEGAN READING THE INCORRECT SPEED AT APPROXIMATELY 37,800 MILES. SPEEDOMETER CURRENTLY STUCK AT 35 MPH WITH VEHICLE AT A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN ACTUALLY TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, SPEEDOMETER READS 110 MPH. THIS WOULD BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM IF THE DRIVER THOUGHT THE 110 MPH WAS CORRECT AND QUICKLY APPLIED BRAKES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND VEHICLE CHECKED. SPEEDOMETER HAD RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION AND DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. SINCE THEN A WEEK HAS GONE BY AND PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. *JB
STARTED BY TEMP GAUGE NOT RETURNING TO COLD, THEN SPEEDO STUCK AND WOULDN'T CLIMB OR WOULD BE NUMBER OF MPH ABOVE ACTUAL SPEED. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION HAS SUFFERED A FAILURE OF THE SOLENOID AND VALVE BODY. APPARENTLY THROUGH SPEAKING WITH SOME OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME CAR, IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY GM AS THEY HAVE ISSUED SERVICE BULLETINS IN RELATION. THIS HAS OCCURRED IN CARS AS EARLY AS 30,000 MILES. IT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT HARD AND THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AS AN END RESULT. *JB
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL THERE IS A CLUCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END> IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE. TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEL. AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM THAT ALL IMPALAS MAKE THIS NOISE AFTER SO MANY MILES. THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING SHAFT. THIS CAR HAS 50,000 MILES AND THEY TELL ME THEY STEERING SHAFT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS TELLS ME THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR PARTS AND THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX IT. NOW STEERING SHAFTS SEEM TO ME TO BE A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THE CAR AND THAT IF IT FAILS SOMEONE IS GOING TO GE HURT. SO DOES THIS MAKE IT A SAFETY PROBLEM? *NM

THIS VEHICLE HAD A HEAD GASKET REPAIRED UNDER STANDARD 3 YEAR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY. WE ARE NOW TOLD WE HAVE ANOTHER HEAD GASKET OR HEAD PROBLEM AT 49,000 MILES. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ENGINE MANUFACTURER PROBLEM OR I GOT A LEMON ENGINE FROM CHEVROLET? *JB
UNABLE TO CONTROL STEERING HYDROPLANING WITHOUT JUST CAUSE OTHER THAN RAIN, ALSO NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, AND BACKING IT, AND IT DRAGS WHEN KEY IS TURNED TO START. THE SPEED,TEMP,AND GASOLINE GAUGE ISN'T WORKING. I DO NOT LIKE TO DRIVE THIS CAR IN THE RAIN AND IF I CAN AVOID IT, I WILL NOT DRIVE, THE PROBLEMS BEGAN IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS MILES IS STILL FAIRLY LOW. *JB
SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. REGISTERED SPEEDS FROM 0-100+ MPH AT ANY GIVEN TIME WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED OR TURNED OFF. HAD SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN. *JB
WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE TURN IN THE STEERING. DURING THE TURN IT FEELS AS THOUGH THERE IS A BREAK IN THE STEERING LINE. IT SEEMS AS IF IT WERE A CHAIN I WOULD SAY ITS MISSING ABOUT 4 LINKS. I TOOK IT IN FOR THIS PROBLEM ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND IT WAS RESOLVED FOR A WHILE. I WAS TOLD THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TIGHTENING. HERE IT IS DOING THE SAME THING FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS. NOW I NOTICE THE BRAKING IS NOT STOPPING IN THE MANNER IT SHOULD. I HAVE NEARLY REARENDED A FEW PEOPLE IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS OR CONTINUED JUST PAST THE STOP LINE AT AN INTERSECTION. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5MPH THE BRAKES WOULD START MAKING A GRINDING SOUND AND THE VEHICLE WOULD PULSATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY TURNED THE REAR ROTORS AND STATED THAT THEY COULD ONLY BE TURNED ONE TIME. THE FAILURE SEEMED TO BE RESOLVED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THIS TIME THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE "FROZEN" BECAUSE THE OWNER DIDN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE OFTEN ENOUGH. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE TURNED AND THEN THE FAILURE HAPPENED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED, THIS TIME, THAT THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ROTORS, CALIPERS AND PADS WERE REPLACED IN THE FRONT AND REAR. THE FAILURE HAS RETURNED. THE CONTACT HAS CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 42,000. UPDATED 10/27/10. *LJ
I WAS DRIVING HOME ONE NIGHT AT ABOUT 9:30 IN THE COUNTRY AND IT WAS PITCH-BLACK WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. I HAD TO BE GOING ABOUT 55 MPH WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THEY WOULDN'T COME BACK ON UNTIL I PULLED THE DIMMER SWITCH IN AND OUT REPEATEDLY. LUCKILY I WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA TO COME TO A STOP WITHOUT INCIDENT. WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS I WILL BE TAKING MY CAR IN TO A DEALER AND GET AN INSPECTION. *NM
NO EVENTS LEADING, SPEEDOMETER AND TEMP GAGE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE AT ALL TIMES, CANNOT KNOW WHAT SPEED I AM TRAVELING AT. I'M WAITING FOR A RECALL AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND THE MANUFACTURER - CHEVROLET. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION NOT TO KNOW YOUR SPEED ACCURATELY. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER JUST STARTING GOING OUT OF CONTROL. IF MY CAR IS STOPPED THE SPEEDOMETER SAYS IT IS GOING 30 MPH. THE GAS GAUGE IS OUT OF CONTROL TOO. *TR
INSTRUMENT PANEL MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH MY 2004 CHEVY IMPALA FOR 3 YRS NOW. LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT FIXED. IN WINTER, THE SPEEDOMETER RARELY WORKS AT ALL AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE JUST GOES WHEREVER IT WANTS. HOWEVER, I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS GAUGE, BUT NOT SAYING THAT I WON'T. I REALLY DO BELIEVE THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2004 CHEVY IMPALA WITH SEVERE VIBRATION WHILE BRAKING. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE MECHANIC INFORMED HIM THAT THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS WERE SEVERELY WARPED. HE BELIEVES THAT THE ROTORS ARE POOR QUALITY AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED CONSTANTLY. *KB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE HEAD LIGHTS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE PROBLEM BEGAN FOUR MONTHS AGO AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SERVICE DEALER WHO REPLACED AN UNKNOWN MODULE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOW RETURNED AND THE HEAD LIGHTS GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING AND RE ILLUMINATE WITHOUT WARNING. MANIPULATING THE SWITCH DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MAKE THE LIGHTS RE ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT IS PLANNING TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER LATER TODAY FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE IS A POLICE CRUISER.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVY IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED FOR THREE YEARS. THE DEALER INSTALLED A PATH LOCK SYSTEM AND STATED THAT THE CPU MAY HAVE BEEN STOLEN. THREE DAYS AFTER THE PATH LOCK SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AGAIN AND STATED THAT A BCM MAY NEED TO BE INSTALLED. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55MPH, SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM THE BACK REAR WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO ERUPT INTO FLAMES AND ENGULF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND PROVIDED A WRITTEN REPORT. THE FIRE MARSHALS REPORT STATED THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL AND STARTED WITH A SHORT IN THE WIRING TO THE REAR DEFROSTER. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND DEEMED TOTALED.
MY DASH CLUSTER IS MALFUNCTIONING. IT SAYS MY CAR IS OVERHEATING. HAD IT WORKED ON AND AFTER FOUND IT WAS A KNOWN CLUSTER PROBLEM. THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT ACCURATE AND I GOT PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING. NEXT THE CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT. NOW THE GAS GAUGE IS NEXT. CHECKED ON LINE AND GM IS AWARE OF THESE ISSUES BUT HAS DONE NOTHING. REPAIR BILL IS AROUND 500.00 DOLLARS. SEEMS UNFAIR TO ME. WILL BE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE SOON HOPE NO ONE GETS HURT DUE TO SPEED/ENGINE OVER HEATING AND NOT KNOWING/RUNNING OUT OF GAS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA WITH 82000 FAILURE MILEAGE THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED INCORRECT RATES OF SPEED. THE SPEEDODOMETER NEEDLE ALSO BEGAN TO SWERVE BACK AND FORTH SLIGHTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAILED INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. *AK
THE JACK SUPPLIED WITH A 2004 CHEV IMPALA WAS USED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON ASPHALT SURFACE ON A LESS THAN 1% GRADE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS JACKED UP TO REPLACE A TIRE WITH NO STRESS ON THE WHEEL OR VEHICLE, THE JACK FAILED AND DROPPED THE VEHICLE TO THE GROUND. THE JACK BENT AND THE CENTER ALL THREAD SCREW ALSO BENT. THE OEM SUPPLIED EQUIPMENT IS INADEQUATE TO ELEVATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY TO REPLACE A FLAT TIRE. *NM
THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON MY 2004 CHEVY IMPALA LS HAS STOPPED WORKING. ALSO, THE FUEL & OIL GAUGES DO NOT WORK. THE GAUGES STOPPED WORKING ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AFTER WORKING WITHOUT PROBLEMS. FROM MY ONLINE SEARCHES, I'VE SEEN MANY OTHER IMPALA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT HAD THE CLUSTER REPLACED, BUT INSTEAD USE A HANDHELD GPS FOR SPEED. I DO FEEL CHEVY/GM KNOWINGLY MANUFACTURED A BAD COMPONENT AND SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR REPAIRS OF THE STEP MOTORS THAT HAVE FAILED IN THESE CARS. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS GOING ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN A TRUCK PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF HIM. HE COULD DO NOTHING BUT HIT HIM ALMOST STRAIGHT ON (T-BONE). HE DID APPLY THE BRAKES AND WAS WEARING HIS SEAT BELT BUT STILL CRUSHED HIS STERNUM ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY! HE HAS BEEN IN TERRIBLE PAIN AND WAS VERY RELIEVED HE DID NOT HAVE MORE SERIOUS INJURIES. ALTHOUGH I THINK HIS IS QUITE SERIOUS!*JB

ALTHOUGH THIS OCCURRED TWICE ON THE RIGHT REAR HUB CAP HOUSING, THE OTHER PLASTIC HOUSINGS WERE NOT AFFECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS SEEN BY A DEALER AND THE PLASTIC HOUSINGS WERE REPLACED AT THE CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. UPDATED 2/27/2006 - *NM

CLUSTER IS OUT ON MY 2004 CHEVY IMPALA. THIS CONTROLS THE SPEED ODOMETER,TEMPERATURE GAUGE,GAS GAUGE,RPMS.FIRST THE SPEED ODOMETER WENT OUT THEN THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE MESSING UP NOW THE RPMS. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS CAR VERY LONG. ONLY HAS 66,000 MILES. THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY CRASHES OR INJURIES YET. BUT I DO HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN. AND I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SAFETY MATTER. CHEVY 2004 IMPALA FOR NO REASON THE HEAD LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON... I HAVE BEEN CAUGHT SEVERAL TIMES IN VERY DANGEROUS ROADS WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED.... THANKFULLY NO CRASHES OR INJURIED. I CALLED CHEVY SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHY IT HAPPENS OR HOW TO FIX IT. *JB

THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND REMAINED OFF UNTIL THE DIMMER SWITCH WAS PRESSED. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNALS BEFORE THIS OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN BY A DEALER. *AK . INCIDENTAL NIGHT TIME HEADLIGHT FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES ON 01/27/2006; ONCE ON 02/12/2006, INVOLVING HIGH BEAM, AND 3 TIMES ON 02/18/2006, INVOLVING 2 HIGH BEAMS. SUBSEQUENT OCCASIONAL FAILURE UNTIL THE TURN SIGNAL/DIMMER SWITCH WAS REPLACED ON 03/14/2006. CONTACT PAID $345 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. *AK
