TURNED ON MY CAR STARTED PUSHING ON THE GAS MY CAR MADE A WEIRD VIBRATION TYPE SOUND. CAME UP ON MESSAGE BOARD TRACTION CONTROL AFTER A COUPLE TIMES OF IT DOING THAT, THE ABS AND TAX LIGHT COME ON AND ON THE MESSAGE WINDOW IT SAYS SYSTEM TRACTION SERVICE. IT KINDA FREAKED ME OUT CAUSE I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WENT TO GO HIT THE GAS AND IT SAID TRACTION CONTROL AND I MOVED A LITTLE THAN I HAD TO LET GO OF GAS THEN TRY AGAIN. ALSO HAVE HAD A COUPLE INCIDENTS WHERE I GO TO BREAK AND IT MAKES A VIBRATION FEELING ON THE BRAKE AND BRINGS UP TRACTION CONTROL AGAIN. REALLY WOULD LIKE THIS CHECKED OUT VERY CONCERNED. DON'T WANT TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSE MY CAR FAILS TO TAKE OFF.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN STARTING HER VEHICLE SHE NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD DEPRESS ON ITS OWN AND THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY SEVEN INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO ADVISED HER THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HER THAT SHE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER FAILED ON MY 04 IMPALA AT ABOUT 52,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UP TO 65 MPH. SHE TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY PUMPING THE BRAKES A COUPLE OF TIMES UNTIL IT FINALLY STARTED TO DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED NOR HAD IT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000.
THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO REPORT THE PROPER SPEED WHILE DRIVING. THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WAS STUCK AT THE 120 MPH MARK WHILE TRAVELLING AT A RATE OF 50 MILES PER HOUR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD ERRONEOUSLY FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 0 AND 70 MPH. THE CONTACT, WHO WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A SERVO MOTOR FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE EXPECTING A RECALL IN THE FUTURE FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED LITTLE ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. SOMETIMES IT READ 90 MPH WHEN THE CAR WAS STOPPED. SOMETIMES IT READ THE SAME THING (LIKE 10 MPH) ALL THE TIME. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT SPEED I WAS ACTUALLY GOING, PRESENTING A SAFETY HAZARD. PROBLEM WAS GONE THE NEXT DAY, BUT CONTINUES TO BE RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE OPEN HIGHWAY, THE SPEED ODOMETER INCORRECTLY RECORDS THE SPEED. IT WILL GET STUCK AT A NUMBER HIGHER THAN ZERO, EG. SPEED ODOMETER SHOWS 60 YET RATE OF SPEED MAY ONLY BE 40, THUS CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS ISSUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET. *TR
WAS DRIVING ALONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED "FLOATING". IT WOULD BE ALL OVER THE PLACE, SOME TIMES IT WOULD GO ALL THE WAY AROUND TO 120 AND OTHER TIMES IT WOULD BE RIGHT ON.
2004 IMPALA LS, SPEEDODMETER ERRATIC THEN JUST FAILED. IN PARK I AM GOING APPROX 160 MPH. CONTACTED GM TO TRY AND GET IT COVERED, THE SAID NO. IN TIME CAR HAS NOW GONE OVER 70K MILES. WILL HAVE TO FIX ON MY DIME ( APPROX $700). MANY OTHER 2004 GM TYPES ALL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. SERVICE DEPT AGREES AND HAD 2 OTHER 2004 IMPALA'S IN SHOP FOR THE SAME FAILURE. *TR
INTERSTATE DRIVING USING CRUISE CONTROL. CRUISE CONTROL DISABLED WHEN BRAKING FOR AN EXIT BUT LEFT IN THE ON POSITION ON THE DIMMER SWITCH. CRUISE CONTROL AUTOMATICALLY RESUMES AND THE CRUISE LIGHT COMES ON WITHOUT USING THE ACCEL OR RESUME BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL. APPLIED THE BRAKE IMMEDIATELY AND THE CRUISE CONTROL DISABLED ITSELF. I NO LONGER LEAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH IN THE ON POSITION UNLESS USING. WILL MAKE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER SERVICE TO CORRECT SAFETY HAZARD. *JB

ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2005 I RENTED A CHEVROLET IMPALA FROM AVIS ON W 76TH ST IN NEW YORK CITY. WHILE SITTING STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT LATER THAT DAY IN HARTFORD, CT, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS WITH WHAT APPEARED TO BE FULL THROTTLE INTO THE CAR DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF IT WHILE FULL BRAKE PRESSURE WAS BEING APPLIED. ABOUT ONE SECOND WENT BY AND IT HAPPENED ONCE MORE, STRIKING THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. SINCE THERE WAS SUCH A SMALL DISTANCE BETWEEN THE CARS THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO REACH A HIGH SPEED, BUT THERE WAS A STRONG JOLT WHEN STRIKING THE OTHER CAR. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND INSPECTING FOR DAMAGE NONE WAS FOUND TO EITHER VEHICLE BUT IN OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE DANGEROUS. I CALLED AVIS ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND REQUESTED THAT A CAR BE BROUGHT TO ME BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY MORE. I WAS TOLD THAT IF THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE I HAD TO BRING IT TO AN AVIS LOCATION MYSELF. LATER THAT NIGHT, I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE AVIS LOCATION AT THE BRADLEY AIRPORT IN HARTFORD AND THE CAR ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AGAIN. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I RETURNED THE CAR AND WAS GIVEN AN EXCHANGE.*JB

THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS AT TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS', AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO JUDGE HOW FAST THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING. *AK
